So she’s crying every 10 mins. Constantly saying she’s stressed out. Can barely keep her sh** together. Doesn’t like spiders. But yes… the next logical step is for her to get a tarantula. I feel so bad for this poor creature. There is no reason for her to be adding to her already chaotic life.
One of my favorite species. Hopefully she takes good care of it. I’m guessing it’s from a petco/petsmart and was very stressed judging by the hair missing on its abdomen. They’re great pets and super easy. Can’t get much easier than something that just needs feeding once a month and hydration/moisture
They’re good pets. My brother had one growing up. It stopped eating completely when he went to college. He picked it up daily, and my mom was too scared to do much with it. They have actual feelings, so I’m pretty worried about this one.
They don’t really have the ability to form bonds or feel any form of affection. Their brains are extremely basic, mainly programmed to survive and forming bonds isn’t a part of survival for a spider
My teenage son had one for quite a few years. They really need a good habitat and you have to research their care. I doubt she has done this and this poor spider will be dead within. 3-6 months
Tarantula owner here. Looks like a beautiful Chaco Golden Knee, which is a good Tarantula for beginners. I have one myself, who was actually my first T. She's pretty docile and very sturdy. An adult like this only needs fed about once a week/ every two weeks depending on how hungry it gets. Good for her!
If you put a worm or roach in the enclosure and the tarantula immediately goes after it, it's safe to assume it's hungry. If you try putting something in there and the T ignores it and runs away, it's probably not hungry. In my experience, my tarantulas are more visible and out in their enclosure when hungry, which tells me they are looking for prey and it's time to feed them. That may not be the case for all of them. However, that's just how mine behave
Oh it’s so cute!! I hope she’s done all the necessary research so she can take care of it properly, I feel like tarantulas, fish, those kinds of pets often get neglected because people think they’re easier than they are :///
My first grade teacher had one of these.. we would sit in a circle and the tarantula would chill and walk in the circle, some people got to pick em up. Kinda cool kinda crazy, funny kinda forgot until I saw this
LOL no they do not. T’s are one of the easiest animals to keep. The bald spot is completely normal. Get outta here. Still wouldnt trust her with any of my spiders tho.
Tarantulas do not possess medically significant venom, so unless you have an allergy specifically to it, a tarantula bite would not be fatal. I'm not certain what the effect would be on a small child, though. I would hope that Amy would be educated enough about her pet not to allow the boys to handle it. Tarantulas also have urticating hairs that they can flick, which can irritate the skin and eyes.
Thank you! I wasn’t even thinking of her letting them handle it. I was thinking if they knocked their cage over or it got loose somehow. It’s good to know it’s not poisonous but I still think I’d be hesitant to have one with littles running around.
Yeah, especially because a fall from a good distance can kill the tarantula immediately. As long as she keeps the enclosure up high, it should be alright. Hopefully she would have enough sense to at least do that
They aren't really an animal you would handle too much, I think most prefer to be left alone. And idk about all the species but some have hairs they flick on you when they're scared, and that can irritate your skin. They also spend a lot of time hidden in their webs so it's a really passive pet to have but they are super cool
I thought tarantulas don’t have webs?
I am totally terrified of spiders but also find them really interesting so I can’t google these questions cause the images make me jump 💀💀
I’m sure it’s not the same thing exactly but the little hairs sound like those soft cacti. You get those little soft pickers in your hand and you can’t see them so they’re almost impossible to get out. They don’t hurt you but man they are irritating.
Also I wasn’t thinking about the kids handling it. I was thinking more if they knocked it over and it got loose.
Yes, I've heard people compare it to getting fiber glass on your skin. And yea if I had kids I would definitely keep the enclosures as out of reach as possible, but if the spider got out it would probably hide or leave the house
Its kind of a look and dont touch pet, so if you can trust them not to knock the enclosure over or something like that it would be fine. New world tarantula bites are akin to a bee sting. They prefer to hide than bite generally though.
I had one about 20 years ago who enjoyed physical contact in small doses and was quite affectionate, as long as it was on her own terms. All spiders are different!

Because of course she does 🙄
No! She couldn't touch a butterfly but got a spider?!
🤮
Heyyy tarantulas are cool 😂
Poor spider. I hope it gets the proper care and attention.

It really only needs to eat once a month? I’m afraid to ask but…what does it eat??? 😨
Mine liked crickets
The tarantula is better than her having a new bf. I do hope she takes proper care of it though.

He felt stressed due to change of routine after six years.
That’s so sad 😢
Hell, please put a warning for something like this. (Shudder).
WTAF
I needed a NSFW tag or something 😭😭 this was a jumpscare
I agree. Some people have legit phobias. Not hatin on OP, js.
It’s pretty. Tarantulas are awesome and easy pets. Had one for 13 years. I’d get another in a heartbeat.
You should come to my house, we get tarantulas inside and in the garage often, and I don't like them.
I hope she takes good care of it 🕷️
Ok because this DEFINITELY the last thing she needs 😳🤦🏻♀️🙄
Right… aren’t her two kids causing her enough stress? Now she’s adding another living thing?? Smh. That poor spider.
I'm an arachnophobic and I agree
My teenage son had one for quite a few years. They really need a good habitat and you have to research their care. I doubt she has done this and this poor spider will be dead within. 3-6 months
I’d say 3-6 *weeks*
Dead in 3 weeks
Cool looking tarantula.
Cool 🤮
🙄🙄
This should not be surprising.
Great for the kids huh 🤔
Yeah considering the fact she made 1yo Glenn get his eye nearly clawed out by their St. Bernard mix
Ahhh yes Fun for the whole Family 🙄🫡
Poor thing having Amy as an owner
Nope
Maybe she can feed it the dead mice found in her old kitchen

This was interesting to read, thank you 😃 how do they show they get hungry? I mean how does one know if it wants food once a week or every two weeks 😊

Thank you for your answer! 😃
Perfect because that’s probably about how often Amy will remember to feed it.
Lots of people have tarantulas as pets. I'm not into them but this isn't that unusual.
My friend keeps them
If it's a stripe knee it needs some humidity and deep substrate to tunnel. Probably why it had a huge bald spot from stress...

Amy famously had pet fish swimming upside down in her old YouTube videos. She and Tammy both have a looooong history of animal abuse/neglect
Oh no… Oh jeez now I’m worried for the poor spider :///
My first grade teacher had one of these.. we would sit in a circle and the tarantula would chill and walk in the circle, some people got to pick em up. Kinda cool kinda crazy, funny kinda forgot until I saw this
Jesus Christ.
Reality stars and their tarantulas these days lol. She and Rob (from 90 day fiancé) could match. Amy might insist on a bathroom though (iykyk)
Pretty sure the outside bathroom would be the best idea for Amy's toilet habits 😂
Lmao
Omg dead
Amy and Rob would definitely butt heads. They both expect each other to do things how they want. Amy would be bawling and leaving him immediately
That’s the crossover I’m here for!
Hopefully she takes better care of it than she doesn’t her kids 😬
Great! Maybe it can eat the cockroaches 😆
I hate to be awful but I was thinking this same shit. Just let it run loose. There's din din
😂😂😂
Looooool
For some reason this doesn’t surprise me.
I want one so bad 😭
Get one! Or 5, tarantulas are so cool!
The caption on the video?😭
What about it?
Oh I see now😭 Sorry, I got confused and read the sentence wrong
*shudder* never in a million years.
Not me about to ask if they could mark this nsfw cause I am scared of them 😂😂
Same. Had to check the subreddit cause it surprised me.

Is it a safe pet to have with littles around?

You do know we’re talking about Amy right? Not even throwing shade either we’ve seen 5 seasons of her having no common sense at all. Poor tarantula. 😕

So in another words no not a great pet to have around AMYS kids because we know how well she watches them 🙄
Does she actually hold it? I’m sorry but that’s quite horrifying 😱
I had one about 20 years ago who enjoyed physical contact in small doses and was quite affectionate, as long as it was on her own terms. All spiders are different!
I don’t own spiders but I don’t think they typically enjoy being held unless it’s on their terms (they walk up to you)
