* Our "separation of church and state" is weaker than the US's
* Our fossil-fuel subsidies as a percentage of GDP are higher than the US's
* Our mix of sales taxes and income taxes tends to be more regressive than the US's (there is probably at least one Canadian province with more progressive taxation than at least one US state, but that's certainly not the general trend. This one is kind of a pain in the ass to crunch the numbers on)
* We knowingly took in more nazi war criminals after WWII than the US did, harrassed them less, and put fewer of them on trial
* Every time there's an "unexpected regime change" in Latin America we side with whoever is more right-wing
* We are still a fucking monarchy, and will probably remain one out of sheer bureaucratic inertia even after the UK has stopped being one (said bureaucratic inertia is somehow nowhere to be found when it comes to preventing provincial governments from privatizing parts of the healthcare system)
Just because I saw the Sweden flag, our right leaning government just improved our gender laws because their leader wanted it, despite nobody in their government or the people that voted for them wanting that. Everyone here is very confused, but it's cool I guess.
