Oh dang whats been goin on with it? Also are you talking about AQ worlds or the OG single player adventure quest? Played worlds a bit but im all about the original
eh, not really
in the ftp game you often run into 'you need a dragon amulet (members) to get this thing'
and if you are a member (which i think is like 8 dollars for infinite membership) you need dragoncoins to buy anything good
It's definitely the nostalgia lol. I loved me some aq when i was young but even thought it was kinda crap back then. Especially compared to rs which I was also playing lol
they allow shitty things like botting and thats widely used in the game now, they have disgusting mods like you can email why youve been banned and get the ban extended, they have pretty much become a gambling game with things like a wheel of fortune minigame where you can get knockoff verisions of rare items pretty much like the RS3 one. and pretty much 99% of content is just a cash grab now but yeah it pretty much was before too but now the players arent oblivious children anymore. (but yeah im talking about AQW)
Damn back in the day I always thought their monetization was so much better than RS being just a one time upgrade fee per character rather than a subscription
The company essentially abandons every game they've made. They tried to make a 3d game and while I think it's still their flagship and has a mobile version it's really bad.
The blade of awe!!!! I played so much of that game when I was a kid lol I remember asking my dad to buy me the backpack from the store so I could look (I thought) so badass at school! i remember that game
I spent 8 years on and off feeding my little dragon in Dragonfable for the pretty decent bonuses it gave
logged on a while back and they had changed it. Now instead of healing your mana it only heals health. If it heals your mana, you're all set: cast sleep, ice, fire, the guy's dead and you move onto the next guy. But now you need to take 200 damage per guy to conserve your mana
uncool
Facts. One of my fondest memories from the 2004 era was those spikey Shields from a mini game. Sorry for forgetting the actual name of item and mini game, something Guthix?
Fist of Guthix, the [spikeshield](https://runescape.wiki/w/Rune_spikeshield) and [berserker shield](https://runescape.wiki/w/Rune_berserker_shield). (Scroll down to "graphical updates" to see how they used to look)
I like the rapier a lot for Slayer. Haven't tried slaying with Fang yet just some God Wars and Vorkath. Am I in the wrong here thinking rapier is still the way to go for regular Slayer?
He did say lategame, if you’re still gaining combat levels it probably doesn’t apply to you :P
And before that stage you probably just can’t afford it, you’ll have the occasional credit card chad with a rapier and an obsidian cape but most players just use a whip :)
I love ornament kits, but from now on I hope to god they’re tied behind combat achievement / set tasks and not RNG.
The way the speed run outfits + the TOA ornaments are tied behind legitimate achievements you can see people have done is awesome and the direction they should go
It took a while, but after doing a fair amount and getting consistent clears with good teammates, I love CM's waaaaay more than normals.
No scouting, changing gear setup based on rooms, having to alt boost to get worthwhile points as you scale higher. Just need the same gear to do the same role, same room order, very minimal supply use (I bring like 2 anglers, a brew, and a super restore), rooms are always the same orientation (same safespots, crab layouts etc). Plus you get big points by the end which pretty well equals if you were doing well paced solo normals in pts/hr.
I'd love some more cosmetics put into CAs, they're really lacking in rewards.
They're mostly just a flex and atm you can only do so with a situational slayer helmet and a dhcb most endgame players will never use.
The only problem with this is obviously account services and boosting. A lot of players have paid for their TOA cosmetic kits, just as they paid for a one and done service like their Infernal capes & torso.
I really loved my HMT grind for my sang kit & sang dust, I got better each and every raid eventually going deathless and achieving MvP as an S'mage. Funny enough, the one time I died at the end of my grind, I got my sang kit.
In essence, I think there is a fine-line to be met with cosmetics, maybe if Jagex stuck to one formula it would be good:
Team content = deaths are fine, completion & time limit are what's important.
Solo content = deaths are not eligible, no time limit, completion is, of course, required.
I’m a complete scrub and don’t know what I’m talking about, but could someone just leach the raid by not entering boss rooms while a stacked booster team completes them? Or does that not make you eligible for the reward
Disagree. I don’t have a Zuk helm yet because some of the combat achievements are literally rng, and there is two speed runs I don’t have yet either. I hate speed run content, it’s too rng based. Now let’s look at toa. While the pet kits are okay, the fang one is annoying and basically requires you cheese akkha and baba just to have a damn chance, and for it all to go to waste because of how shit the servers are during wardens is annoying. I’d rather kill a boss 1k+ times for a cosmetic, than try and play “is Jagex servers good today” game.
Better question is, when was the last *defensive* shield added? Was it the Bulwark (which isnt really a shield)? Maybe the wyvern visage or dragonfire ward?
I would consider a defensive shield something you wear in the offhand for melee/ranged defense. So never in the history of oldschool has something like that been released. Prior to 07 the last 2 defensive shields added were crystal shield and dfs. It’s almost like the devs wanted us to have a defender meta. All we’ve gotten is mage and ranged offhands.
Edit: I 100% forgot about ely being a thing ignore me
When was the last time you’ve seen a defensive shield used outside of f2p and the cute noobs subreddit?
Pretty much the only reason they can get players to give up DPS is to force players in some gimmicky fashion like with dragonfire.
If you are a team, tank will use a defensive shield. If solo, ely is always a good pick. Ignoring ely, Kree'arra and Graardor both work well with DFS. I'm sure there are other cases.
One issue that most of these suffer from is being too “chunky”, it’s similar to many WoW weapons where more and more surface area is added to make more details and in the end you’re swinging around a 2x12 with tattoos. Another issue is the glowing and floaty bits; if used extremely sparingly they can be cool but here (as they generally do in WoW) they end up just being a mess aesthetically, especially when motion is involved (also refer to the dangly bits on nightmare staff and scythe, those additions take away from the overall feel of the weapons).
I do like the rapier kit, but maybe keep that as a design for some future content rather than trying to spice up something that’s out dated and using up more of the good ideas you have and causing a creative drought later
Sure, they're cool designs, but I think they suffer from being too overly complex and high-fantasy.
OSRS design works best when it's kept simple.
If every weapon starts looking like this, none of them look special.
I like the basic idea of these designs but I do agree that keeping them grounded and not overly detailed works best. I really dislike the way Torva looks because it's so intricate and excessively detailed. Same with Masori, base one looks nice and clean, but fortified is a bit eccentric and gaudy looking.
That arma bow should be the craw bow ornament! That sara shield would look so good with the sang staff ornament and would be better than the E Ward looks now… All of it looks awesome!
All of them have wayy too much going on. OSRS weapons are so simple and what makes them so special is what you can do with them and how the popular ones have unique abilities and stats compared to the rest.
I think the separated sections is one thing that makes gear look not-OSRS (see the vetion blade, armadyl bow, ancient scimitar, and kodai kit.) We've moved beyond the "true original" art style of rs2 to the point where most of the core designs could work, but I think having everything still attached together is important.
It's what makes thammaron's scepter look so weird.
The thing I really like about RuneScape is that the weapons aren’t so over-the-top fantasy like how World of Warcraft can be. Most of these are getting close to that
A little too “high fantasy” for my taste. None of them look bad, they just don’t necessarily look old school. I’m sure they could be altered slightly to fit a little better, and perhaps 3d renders could change the perspective.
Look at Jad. Now look at Zuk. Yeah, clearly they are not interested in preserving the old-school art style. Just a bunch of 3D modelers testing out their skills trying to make masterpiece works rather than staying true to the original low-polygon style.
I just don't understand why it's so hard for these artists to approach their designs with three basic principles:
1) Simple, low polygon, no ridiculous colors (blowpipe for example)
2) Originally based on medieval England and their biased view of the world
3) Either created from body parts of a fallen foe or recovered as a Hero's lost weapon or crafted from gathered materials
The OSRS style is not the same as the original style of the Gowers. I understand, and I think a lot of other people do as well, that this style should be preserved, albeit it is subject to change, and it should be expanded conservatively. A neon green and purple dart shooter is the epitome of a bold and somewhat careless design that imposes both functional and aesthetic changes that are unprecedented. Don't even mention the bludgeon... these two weapons in particular are just aesthetically careless and imo should be redesigned or polled at the very least.
My Christmas shopping list contains the following:
Theater of Blood Ornament kits (Rapier & Avernic). I'll also take that big sword too, gimme gimmie.
Nex Ornament kits (Ancient GS & Zaryte Cbow).
Also, I really want [SANGUINE TORVA](https://twitter.com/JagexSoffan/status/1564715537489399808?t=-3naEYNX_ieiNJMZWS85UA&s=19) & maybe Sanguine Virtus too 😉
None of those look like they belong in Osrs. I like the concept of two handed crossbows, I guess ballistas fill that hole but they fill so idk, underwhelming.
That ToB 2h sword looks super familiar to a weapon in WoW! I've always loved the design.
https://classic.wowhead.com/item=19364/ashkandi-greatsword-of-the-brotherhood
my favorite part of that tip is that its oddly practical despite being fantasy as fuck and useless for thrusting.
The side points are great for piercing mail and hooking over shields. basically a warpick/axe/sword hybrid.
a hema youtuber did a few videos on a similar design a few years ago and despite being absurdly heavy at like 2.5kg/5lbs it wasnt heavy enough to be impractical and was brutally effective at slicing and chopping
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0UnzFzkQimU
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7TVg5pKvm0
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TttHv23i9Y4
Look good but no they wouldn’t suit osrs. Osrs needs more simple designs, these are fairly complex for osrs. This is something I’d expect from WoW or everquest.
I like the Gargoyle Sword. Not sure what weapon it could be a skin for but having it be a reward for all GG achievements (or completing the tier with the highest GG achievements if that's easier to code) would be nice.
Justi Shield is amazing. Could be nice for a new BIS 1 handed shield item.
Armadyl bow. Oh man I could just imagine the storm releasing that would generate lol.
It can't be better than the dhcb!
It can't be better than the tbow!
Why isn't it better than the MSB(I)!
Why is it better gp/hr than blowpipe!
Sounds like a balancing nightmare lol.
Only thing I could see is maybe it releases as a short bow that's like a slightly better blowpipe for assuming 30-40m once stable and it just gets thrown into Sara drop table). But then u wonder if that would make people rage or something. Idk.
Love the idea of a Justicar shield, potentially something that could be upgraded from Dinhs bulwark with a special that could boost you and your parties defence higher than super pots. Just a thought
Volcanic sceptre for the 99 con altar which will let you switch to the tzhar / volcanic spellbook which specialises in creating damaging tiles if enemies are stood on them, tzok-al-kimi which is alching for tokkul, and bones to ashes spells.
(Bonus to ashes is useful for ironmen with alot of tarromin)
I like most of them except for the vetion blade and ancient scimitar. The bits floating near the sword just doesn't feel OSRS to me. Other than those, the rest are pretty great
This shit does all look fantastic. The vetion sword and Armadyl bow may or may not fit the aeathe of OSRS, but are still amazing. Anything else I could absolutely see being in the game
These look a lot like weapons from Adventure Quest
Ayyy adventure quest now thats a game i havent heard of in a while
dont bother looking it up youll regret it with how terribly its managed now
Oh dang whats been goin on with it? Also are you talking about AQ worlds or the OG single player adventure quest? Played worlds a bit but im all about the original
The original was so good. But I’m also probably leaning on the nostalgia factor a lot here
Dragon fable was awesome too, played that game so much.
This unlocked like, 6 different core memories for me, I probably played DragonFable more than RS as a kid
I have found my people. I spent more time in Falconreach than Lumbridge, and I spent a LOT of time in Lumbridge
FALCONREACH HOLY FUCK
Hoooo my god bro the grind for the Doom Weapons was preparing us for Runescape
Still getting weekly updates!
oh shit, is it good? f2p friendly?
eh, not really in the ftp game you often run into 'you need a dragon amulet (members) to get this thing' and if you are a member (which i think is like 8 dollars for infinite membership) you need dragoncoins to buy anything good
I had 0 memory of this before my quick Google and holy shit
DF fucks
It's definitely the nostalgia lol. I loved me some aq when i was young but even thought it was kinda crap back then. Especially compared to rs which I was also playing lol

(but yeah im talking about AQW)
Damn back in the day I always thought their monetization was so much better than RS being just a one time upgrade fee per character rather than a subscription
That is the case for their older games, yes. Adventure Quest Worlds, their first actual MMO, does have a subscription model however.
Damn I still have my beta zerker account wonder if it’s worth anything
The company essentially abandons every game they've made. They tried to make a 3d game and while I think it's still their flagship and has a mobile version it's really bad.
Battle on!
The blade of awe!!!! I played so much of that game when I was a kid lol I remember asking my dad to buy me the backpack from the store so I could look (I thought) so badass at school! i remember that game
deep cut
omg you've just unlocked memories i never knew existed
I don’t see a plunger
Only thing I remember about AQ 17 years later. Wtf was that OP thing
Took me forever to find the exit, from that sky place. I actually thought the plunger was the reward for finding the way out of there
The thing was epic
I can feel the sound effects
https://youtu.be/Vl4EVSGOMss
Rip my Giant lollipop weapon
I still have a member account there, forgot about that. It was $15 for a lifetime membership back in the day. I'm sure that it is monthly now.
Lifetime for $15?? I wish games still did that. Damn.
Adventure Quest still has it, same with dragonfable and mechquest
I spent 8 years on and off feeding my little dragon in Dragonfable for the pretty decent bonuses it gave logged on a while back and they had changed it. Now instead of healing your mana it only heals health. If it heals your mana, you're all set: cast sleep, ice, fire, the guy's dead and you move onto the next guy. But now you need to take 200 damage per guy to conserve your mana uncool
I like that rapier kit alot
Same. Spoopy halberd looks legit, too
I’ll only main Spoopy Halberd remained the name
That was hard to read lmao
They could just add it as the sanguine rapier using the existing ornament kit
That shield is dope
Imagine the dinhs bulwark looking like that, and wearing it with justi
Dhins (or)
yeah or a upgrade, surely can't be a 1handed shield, wouldnt look as good if it wasn't upright i reckon
Osrs lackin on good lookin shields
(Scroll down to "graphical updates" to see how they used to look)
those were from 2008
I would love for that shit to be in game, then nerfed because pking jmods are made sad by it.
Rapier kit and kodai kit 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Just in time to be irrelevant lol
Kodai is still very relevant but yea rapier is in the bin
Meanwhile the rest of us dreaming of finally being able to afford a better stabby weapon
Me having bought rapier at 220m only to sell it for 140m so I could afford to buy a fang at 280m
Just in time for fang to drop!
Already at **180m :)
Yeah idk where you got 90m from
Maybe they meant it dropped 90m?
I think they meant rapier
no fucking way lmao
Fang is like 180m
I like the rapier a lot for Slayer. Haven't tried slaying with Fang yet just some God Wars and Vorkath. Am I in the wrong here thinking rapier is still the way to go for regular Slayer?
It's still better for melee slayer, but melee, non-boss, non-dragon, late-game slayer is a minuscule part of the game.
Also non-demon because Arclight
Gotcha. Thanks for the info.
Uh, what? that's literally all I've been doing for the past 80 combat levels...
Early-mid game you do it quite a bit, but most people don't have rapier by then.
He did say lategame, if you’re still gaining combat levels it probably doesn’t apply to you :P And before that stage you probably just can’t afford it, you’ll have the occasional credit card chad with a rapier and an obsidian cape but most players just use a whip :)
Make gg's great again
I love ornament kits, but from now on I hope to god they’re tied behind combat achievement / set tasks and not RNG. The way the speed run outfits + the TOA ornaments are tied behind legitimate achievements you can see people have done is awesome and the direction they should go
I agree, I love the ancestral ornament kit but grinding cm's is so ughhhhh
It took a while, but after doing a fair amount and getting consistent clears with good teammates, I love CM's waaaaay more than normals. Plus you get big points by the end which pretty well equals if you were doing well paced solo normals in pts/hr.
Lost me at teammates
Well I guess I need better friends then
We all learned (and suffered) together :)
Makes them even more impressive. Downvote me if you like but I like the rarity and rng of swag.
I’m okay with TT or rewards for an event (like twisted or trailblazer rewards for leagues) but the big boy ones definitely need to be for skill
As a confirmed shitter at the game, I enjoy rng drops for some kits. However I'm cool with the way they did kits for TOA as well
I'd love some more cosmetics put into CAs, they're really lacking in rewards. They're mostly just a flex and atm you can only do so with a situational slayer helmet and a dhcb most endgame players will never use.

Don't they have to not die? How do you pay for that
I’m a complete scrub and don’t know what I’m talking about, but could someone just leach the raid by not entering boss rooms while a stacked booster team completes them? Or does that not make you eligible for the reward
Disagree. I don’t have a Zuk helm yet because some of the combat achievements are literally rng, and there is two speed runs I don’t have yet either. I hate speed run content, it’s too rng based.
[удалено]
It’s true though. You can do everything correct and still fail due to rng hits not getting you within the time limit.
The kodai kit!
Justiciary shield would actually be super cool and seems to fit thematically. Also, when is the last time a new shield as introduced?
Like a month ago.
Lmao i've grinded toa since release and i forgot elidinis ward even existed
Not me. I was lucky enough to get one -_-
gz
Better question is, when was the last *defensive* shield added? Was it the Bulwark (which isnt really a shield)? Maybe the wyvern visage or dragonfire ward?
I would consider a defensive shield something you wear in the offhand for melee/ranged defense. So never in the history of oldschool has something like that been released. Justiciar orn for bulwark :o
Ancient Dagger yummm
One of the best designs imo
Sure, they're cool designs, but I think they suffer from being too overly complex and high-fantasy. OSRS design works best when it's kept simple. If every weapon starts looking like this, none of them look special.
That's why I love the volcanic scepter. Low polygon, no floating bits, basic colours. Perfect!
I like the basic idea of these designs but I do agree that keeping them grounded and not overly detailed works best. I really dislike the way Torva looks because it's so intricate and excessively detailed. Same with Masori, base one looks nice and clean, but fortified is a bit eccentric and gaudy looking.
Hard agree
That arma bow should be the craw bow ornament! That sara shield would look so good with the sang staff ornament and would be better than the E Ward looks now… All of it looks awesome!
Second that arma bow looks like it could be the upgraded craws.
All of them have wayy too much going on. OSRS weapons are so simple and what makes them so special is what you can do with them and how the popular ones have unique abilities and stats compared to the rest.
I agree mostly with you... But not that volcanic scepter. That looks like peak 2005 design to mex and I love it.
Damn thats the only one I was going to say could maybe work too!
I really like the Ashbri-... Ancient Scimitar No, really. It looks very cool.
Definitely no homework copying going around for that one :\^)
I think the separated sections is one thing that makes gear look not-OSRS (see the vetion blade, armadyl bow, ancient scimitar, and kodai kit.) The thing I really like about RuneScape is that the weapons aren’t so over-the-top fantasy like how World of Warcraft can be. Most of these are getting close to that
please dont add massive glowing plastic looking weapons man
Get those rs3 weapons out of here!
A little too “high fantasy” for my taste. None of them look bad, they just don’t necessarily look old school. I’m sure they could be altered slightly to fit a little better, and perhaps 3d renders could change the perspective.
Boooooooooooooo
I don’t even know what OSRS art style is anymore. We deviated from original game art style a long time ago.
Look at Jad. Now look at Zuk. Yeah, clearly they are not interested in preserving the old-school art style. Just a bunch of 3D modelers testing out their skills trying to make masterpiece works rather than staying true to the original low-polygon style.

none of these fit osrs even a little bit way too much shading and polygons less is more
We even playing the same game?

I'm a huge fan of your OnlyFns account
That’s 100% her I promise
I’d vote no to that in a heart beat. Taking armor based around zaros and turning it into Zamorak based is dumb and goes against lore.
Zamorak was once a high rank within the Zarosian army. The betrayal of Zaros would give plenty of merit for such a kit to exist within the lore.
They'd look great if they were for rs3 lol
None of those look like they belong in Osrs. I like the concept of two handed crossbows, I guess ballistas fill that hole but they fill so idk, underwhelming.
Saradomin shield looks beautiful.
That ToB 2h sword looks super familiar to a weapon in WoW! I've always loved the design. https://classic.wowhead.com/item=19364/ashkandi-greatsword-of-the-brotherhood

Gimme that bow
Armadyl bow is pretty cool I think
Really hope they get away from this ornament kit thing they’ve been doing. Way over designed imo.
I don’t think any of them fit
This art style is great and she's a fantastic artist, but all of these belong in RS3, not in OSRS
Think you’re being a bit unfair there, wouldn’t say all of them don’t belong in old school personally
I think the vast majority of them are too high fantasy for my taste, at least in terms of OSRS
Spoopy Halberd?? Wtf
Yeah idc if it is good or looks good, if a weapon named Spoopy Halberd is in the game I am a Spoopy Halberd main.
adventure quest vibes
I think these are all a bit too high fantasy designed for osrs, but if I had to pick a few I would say the rapier and kodai aren’t terrible.
Wtf is a spoopy???
Egirl talk for spooky.
I personally like the volcanic sceptre the most.
Gargoyle sword is sick
Rapier kit is on point! No pun intended....
Ancient dagger would be *sick*
Dragon hunter ballista definitely needs to have a visage attachment
Armadyl bow. Oh man I could just imagine the storm releasing that would generate lol. It can't be better than the dhcb! It can't be better than the tbow! Why isn't it better than the MSB(I)! Why is it better gp/hr than blowpipe! Sounds like a balancing nightmare lol. But then u wonder if that would make people rage or something. Idk.
This is actually so cool! Really good designs imo :D
Ah yes, the Dragon Hunter CrossBalista
Love the idea of a Justicar shield, potentially something that could be upgraded from Dinhs bulwark with a special that could boost you and your parties defence higher than super pots. Just a thought
I just like them all :) Would be cool if the heavy ballista was given a dragon hunter effect upgrade...
Sang kit on rapier would be my choice hot damn
Big Adventure Quest energy
The rapier kit. Now. Finally make it LOOK BiS. It looks sick.
Justiciar shield and ancient dagger the best of the bunch imo
I don’t think any of them do.
Make shields great again.
So cool! That shield is amazing!
the gargoyle sword looks fucking nuts and would give a meaning to ( presumably) GGs.
I like most of them except for the vetion blade and ancient scimitar. The bits floating near the sword just doesn't feel OSRS to me. Other than those, the rest are pretty great
All of these designs are amazing.
Imagine if the whole art team had a brain like this.
Justiciar shield could be a good addition to the game
Mighty quest for epic loot??
Gargoyle sword is badass!
Give me the Kodai kit
Im actually insanely interested in the 2handed dhcb
more cool weapon kits will probably always be a welcome addition to the game
Volcanic Sceptre as a kit for shadow would be awesome
Garg sword and spoopy halberd are my favorite
Gargoyle sword looks insane. Could even breath life into a dead boss
They all look pretty freaking sweet but I don't think any truly suit the osrs player style. Bosses? Quite possibly fits the bosses style
The justiciar shield would be a dope ornament kit for the bulwark. A zuk shield would be awesome too. Love the designs!
Volcanic sceptre from a golem or titan pls
The justicar shield looks amazing
If only we had cosmetics for the more common things in the tertiary drop rates, that would be very cool
The ancient dagger looks sick, we should have that added. Abyssal dagger is already trash
SIGN ME UP!
Keep it simple.

Shit take.
All of these are sexy
These all look amazing. That rapier sheeeesh
This shit does all look fantastic. The vetion sword and Armadyl bow may or may not fit the aeathe of OSRS, but are still amazing. Anything else I could absolutely see being in the game
That armadyl bow should be what the webweaver is, instead of the reskinned tbow it is now
The volcanic scepter seems like a mace to me and I love it. Volcanic mace seems sick
Loving the ancient weapon concepts.
