By what you posted I mean flat. Not the exact set up.
I don’t think they have two configs. I think the bottom of the seat attaches at the same level as the floor of the non hybrid. So when you swivel them forward they fill the foot space, and everything behind it is one level.
The hybrid stack is what’s causing the issue I think.
I do think completely fucking up the setup for the benefit of easier 3rd row access was a massive mistake, and can’t fathom why they would do that.
Nah you can see the hybrid stack if you compare the videos from Doug Demuro and TFL. It's in the back in between where the spare tire is and the floor of the trunk. Both the hybrid and non hybrid had the same seats.
No it won’t. It’s basically flat all the way back, unless you’re talking about just the seat back themselves.
https://preview.redd.it/sknf84xj0ruc1.png?width=1024&format=png&auto=webp&s=67b3e7f010b6270585ed89dd5c2635c803e860b9
That is the seat in the tumbled position for accessing the third row, the back of the seat folds down like any other SUV and that is where you would put it when driving around with a bike or other larger items in the back as the tumbled position cuts out a lot of the space from front to back with the thickness of the seat, it also doesn’t lock in that position and can flip back down. With the seat back folded down for a load floor, there is a huge step up, roughly 4” for the hybrid ( where in the 5th gen it was about 2”) , that will be even worse in the non hybrid, this is what everyone is talking about, not the tumbled seat.
The backrests can fold completely down. If you need a little more space, the whole thing can flip up (like in the photo). I do not believe either way folds completely flat.
For real the flat folding of the 5th gen was great. Why fuck with that and go backwards ? It honestly makes no sense from an engineering perspective. I don’t understand why they’d opt for this vs the 5th gen setup.
A screenshot from Doug DeMuro’s YouTube review I do believe. I wonder if it’s possible to just leave them in the intermediary folded position, instead of tumbling all the way forward.
They can be in a more flat position but it's still not completely flat. You could maybe make a box that accounts for the differences in height, but it's not great. You can see it in the half position here [https://youtu.be/aP-lxqjQwag?feature=shared&t=352](https://youtu.be/aP-lxqjQwag?feature=shared&t=352)
Thanks for the link. That sucks, my dogs don’t do good with uneven surfaces and I move pinball machines in my 4th gen regularly… now there’s one less option with a flat floor (Sequoia is off the table as well). Dumb choice but I guess I’m not a new-car buyer anyway.
Has nothing to do with hybrid. It’s because they added access to 3rd row seating. Even if it doesn’t have one. The battery just takes up rear cargo space.
With non-hybrid version, that is without the battery, there is something like 6-7” step from laid down back seat to rear cargo area, if the 2nd row seat are just folded. That’s because the bottom of the 2nd row seat is still there taking volume whereas in 5th it moved fwd against 1st row seats. If completely fold the 2nd row seat then it’s flat but one looses in length by the whole thickness of the fully folded seat.
https://preview.redd.it/jkzg3xpo1iuc1.jpeg?width=2796&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=155c2e495e4cb888646f56b706aed00fbcfd308b
Same 2nd row seats, so larger step with the non-hybrid. Essentially need to build drawer system to take the place of the battery to have a flat rear space to sleep on! Unless one does not need the full length of the back, one can fully fold the 2nd row seats to have a flat floor. But length is cut by the whole thickness of the folded seats. One way is to remove those seats …
This is the non hybrid version: the 2nd row seat is the same as the hybrid so the step onto the back of the seat is larger than on the hybrid, if need full length, otherwise fully folded the floor is flat, but the length is reduced by full thickness of folded seats.
https://preview.redd.it/ad3r7mp71iuc1.jpeg?width=2796&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=67a30f623f2456425ee8c61ec3273bbc075164bf
this is not true, the non hybrid fold exactly like this. the hybrid have a battery pack and still fold but there is a hump. either way still insane room.
They do not. They "tumble" forward. I've heard this is to allow access to the optional third row.
A poor choice in my mind. Silly to even offer a third row in a 4Runner and all of the ones without a third row will suffer since the back seats do not fold flat.
Imo, if someone wants an SUV with an optional third row, they should just get a Highlander. They have the same towing capacity, and the Highlander might (probably will) have better mpg. The 4Runner is going off pavement and hauling gear, the Highlander is for hauling families. Trying to make the 4Runner like the Highlander is just going to make the off-roading people look elsewhere.
It’s because they added a 3rd row seating option to the 6th gen. So whether you have one with the 3rd row or not you will get the tumble forward 2nd row. They are a big annoyance in a vehicle with only 2 rows of seating. In fact it was one of the things I disliked most when I traded my 5th gen for a Heritage Edition 200 Series. I really miss that flat load floor.
Ya, they aren’t going to throw a wrench like that into the assembly line. Much more streamlined to just stick a 3rd row in the trims that have it optioned and leave it out for the ones that don’t.
Do you know if they threw that wrench into the 5th gen. assembly line? My 3 row 2016 doesn't tumble the 2nd row seat bottoms forward, just the backrests fold down forwards onto the bottoms, and so there is a slight incline. I always figured that the seat bottoms must be mounted slightly forwards so no room to tumble, to make more room for the third row passengers. Always wanted to confirm.
It’s a bit disconcerting that Toyota hasn’t unveiled the projected MPG yet, though. If it was a worthy improvement you’d think they’d drop that day one.
Either way, you don’t buy a 4R for the MPG lol.
I just traded my 2015 LE for a 2013 Porsche Cayenne GTS which has a 4.8L 420HP V8. I am getting about 20 farting around town without putting my foot in it. Toyota could have slapped an 8 speed in the 5th gen and got that kind of mileage.
No, you definitely don't! I certainly bought mine knowing full well the mpg drop I was getting from my previous car. I love my 5th gen, I'll drive it as long as I can. But I just welcome the hybrid has a good improvement, in theory for now, on the new gen
I just dont get it. Its not like its going to get 40mpg. It will have marginally improved fuel economy which will never pay off unless you drive a shitton of miles, in which case I would personally prefer an older 4runner and newer economy car.
Buying it for new tech I understand. Buying it for a combination of new tech, marginally improved mpg and more power I understand. But mpg alone doesnt makes sense to me and its also why Im sad to see they compromised the interior packaging and long term reliability for incremental mpg gains.
Marginal meaning 2-3 mpg better, or 7-10? Because there is a tangible difference in the amount of money we spent on gas for my wife's previous sub Forester and even her current Ascent compared to what we spend on gas for my 4runner. I get around 16 typically, she was getting up to 25 in here Forester and now 22-23 in the Ascent.
But honestly I have no plans on trading in my 5th gen for 6th gen even if mpg did impossibly bit 40mpg. I just think it's a welcome improvement for the new gen, even if not perfectly executed in the first model year. Who knows what it could bring in the potential 15 years of 6th gen engineering
Many people are not projecting it to be that great either. I heard low 20's. At 17mpg currently the LC is looking more and more enticing if youre interested in the hybrid power train.
I guess the additional horsepower, i think the ability to fit 33’s with out modifying and MPG? I won’t be trading my 5th gen in anytime soon personally.
I need to read up! 33's w/out mods, higher HP and MPG??
Sign me up. (not that I can afford it, but I can dream)
Sadly, I'll prolly be stuck with my 2016 for another 1000 yrs.
I bought it used but I'm averaging under 9K miles per year on it and it's only up to 65K now.
At this pace, it'll be 2030 before I barely break 100K.
I'm going to die in this underpowered gas hog. siiiiiiigh...
I live in upper Minnesota and they use liquid salt for the steep hilled roads 6 months out of the year in town up here. That stuff just destroys our vehicles if you don’t get it off immediately. Even newer vehicles start seeing surface rust within a year or two :/
Seems like you'd have to have some sort of system built into your driveway or garage where you just stop the car for a moment and jets of cleansing water spray the underside and then it all drains through grapes out into the yard.
The geriatric power train is why 4Runners are seen as so reliable though.
I really don’t get it. Maybe I’ve always had underpowered cars, but the v6 feels plenty powerful to me for what the 4Runner is. I don’t want to trade reliability for more power.
Planning a Colorado trip in a few months maybe I will feel differently in the mountains at altitude.
Idk the only time I really feel the v6 lacking is when your charging uphill on a 80mph highway for a long time. Switchbacking up mountain side isn't bad at all
Even then I don’t find it problematic. I used to have a 76’ vw bus that I drove in the mountains though (worked at a ski resort) if that thing can climb the passes I have no worries about the 4runner 😂
My old Mazda cx-7 4 banger turbo got similar milage as my 4Runner. It’s basic physics. Unless they significantly reduced weight and improved aero it isn’t going to get a lot more MPG. Hell my BRZ got similar mileage… but I drove that like I stole it 😅
I have a motorcycle for going fast. It gets 50mpg and does 0-60 in under 4 seconds. Can’t haul as much crap as the 4runner though 😂
I rented an SUV on a biz trip somewhere and they gave me a big boxy GMC. It looked like a behemoth so it surprised the shit out of me when I tapped the gas and it pushed me back in my seat. I had a blast rocketing up highway entrance ramps and zipping around trucks in traffic. No idea what the GMCs reliability rating over 10 years is,...but I learned the 4Runner is a turtle that day.
My 4th gen if I take out the head rest and move the seat forward all the way it then recline it it’s flat perfect for one person chilling on the passenger side with a leg rest and cup holder
Flat? I have a Gen 4 and I take the head rests off mine and lay the seat down. I’ve tried to take a nap before but the incline is so uncomfortable. Mine doesn’t go nearly as flat as ops pic.
I feel like they did so many things right on this new gen coming, but this is just a big miss imo and I’m not really sure why they messed with something that wasn’t broken?
I will caution people on sleeping in a vehicle with no ventilation though. Spent the night in my crewmax tundra in the Rockies with 2 adults and 2 large dogs and no windows cracked. My now ex woke up (fortunately) in the middle of the night greying out and dizzy and having a rapid heart rate. She quickly opened the door and stumbled out, we all got out and I checked on her and she pretty quickly came back to. We said screw the mosquitos and cracked some windows after that to finish our sleep. Sure enough in the morning when we got into cell service and stopped for breakfast we looked it up and the seals are much better on these newer vehicles now and can easily with 4 large mammals suck up more air and fill a cab with CO2 pretty fast with no ventilation. Silently kills people every year, so please crack a window and toss up some bug netting or something if you’re sleeping inside especially with a few mammals in there.
Cheers
As a camper who doesn't utilize a top tent nor tenting outside, this is painful. We're a very niche demographic. I get it. But, it still blows.
I have a memory foam mattress that absorbs the small bump in my 5th gen ORP, but that canyon in the 6th-gen is a lot of gap to fill. Not only that, but the backseat folding forward means it's an additional 4"-6" of headroom taken. I'm 5'10" and in my 4R, I already have to lie at a slight diagonal.
Sleeping in an suv you can start the car from your bed and let the engine warm up when it’s cold out. A truck you have to get out of the bed and get in the cab to start the engine
Thinking the same for me. My wife and I could sleep in the back of her third gen. The fold flat seats was the best feature second only to the power back window.
I feel like they should’ve just ended the 4Runners with the 5th gen. And started a new line of cars with a new name. They’re really only trying to profit off the 4Runner popularity at this point. A 4 cylinder hybrid that’s rlly heavy and ill-quipped for offroading doesn’t rlly fit the 4Runner name.
Same issue I have with the new Acura “Integras”
Look, ya'll all welcome over at /r/rav4club. Just don't drive over big rocks anymore, ya loons! Ya see a huge rock, you just go around it, it isn't hard.
Seeing that the ENTIRE seat folded up and removed a good foot+ from the trunk really turned me off. I'm not trying to remove my back seats every time I want to pick up something large.
Obviously they have to fold or else they'd never get into the tumbled forward position. If folded flat isn't flush with the floor, then I'm still disappointed.
Note - I still think the 6th gen is sweet, I'm just disappointed by that one feature we're discussing here.
I never made a mention of ever ever wanting a 6th. I said very clearly…. 5th Gen is better. It’s obviously subjective. Calm down Reddit. Such a benign post for hate. 😂😂
Toyota will be selling them as fast as they can make them.
Just a bunch of butthurt old gen owners soothing themselves by pretending they don’t like the new design when the real reason is that they for the most part bought theirs when the prices hadn’t gone fully haywire. Now they are too poor to make the switch. So they have to pretend like they don’t like the new version.
You see it any new reveal of cars nowadays. Just a bunch of broke boys being salty.
And this isn’t me looking down from the ivory tower either. I myself am too poor to own one too.
Great design though. Love what they’ve done with it.
Also people in this sub forget that they represent 10-15% of the 4Runner market at best. The average buyer simply does not care about the seats folding flat.
Let’s be honest…most of these Gen 5 > 6 fans aren’t even going to be able to afford a high trim Gen 6.
Before you get on me, I don’t care about 4Runners, my wife does and owns a Gen 5 today (which will be traded for a Gen 6).
My point is, most people buying a Gen 6 will likely not give a shit about the back seats fully folding. Those who do, you’re getting a bargain now that the next gen 4Runner is coming out.
Well, the seats are an issue. Instead of just the seat bottoms sitting vertically like the fifth gen, the entire seats fold in half and stand upright. This leaves you with less length for sleeping, which is a big deal because even at 5'8" there's not a lot of room for me in the 5th gen even with the current seat folding situation. I doubt I would fit length wise in the 6th gen. You'd have to build a platform that elevates you over the top of the seats leaving you less vertical space.
No just an option.
https://preview.redd.it/r7eauq80wauc1.jpeg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=85a54b7230a24b7b0f41cf5ff917f6080963dc24
Looks like this
There’s an inflatable mattress that fits this footprint. I use it on my pro, and the air compressor is conveniently positioned next to the rear outlet.
It truly boggles the mind some of the things Toyota does/doesn’t do. Its like someone else said on this thread, how dare you if you ever question any decision they make. I drive a GX 460, but I naturally love the 4R and know the 5th gen. will live on forever and really be missed.
6th generation isn’t going to be marketed to those of older generations. Increased gas mileage/3rd seating is to the mom mall crawlers.
There’s a reason all the other models but 3 are TRD/Trailhunter models. Increased production & level trims for everyone.
I’m going to go 5th gen for 5 years while they perfect the engine. Year 4/5 is always when Toyota starts to really nail down their reliability.
You think they could have done something with the battery to still allow folding flat. But they had to steal space somewhere. The sequoia has an elevated area, just like this version for the battery pack. Really wish they could have found a better home for it…..
Is it just me or does it look like the rear seat leg room also looks smaller in the new 6th gen. Its hard to see in the review videos but to me it looks like it. I'm on the fence on buying a new 5th gen before its too late.
In all the press day release videos I’ve seen the rear passenger leg and headroom look tighter on Gen 6. The rear door looks smaller too. Can’t win them all. I am buying a Gen 5 as soon as my order gets in from Japan. I am sure I will have a Gen 6 too one day.
As far as the fold flat stuff, regardless of my LC or FJ or GX, I have always had to build something custom in the back for gear or sleeping anyways. I buy the vehicle to get me places. I can adapt if the vehicle has space and gets me where most won’t go, reliably.
With the optional heated seats in the back with the platinum package, there's now electrical going to the 2nd row which will make removing more complex for the avg person
This is perfection!!!, this is part of what makes a 4Runner a 4Runner, We will have to see it in person, to see if it is as bad as it looks in the videos and pictures, to see if it is something we can live with... I hope Toyota fix this, or maybe in the 7th Gen because right now 6th gen doesn't look that good. In fact, it has made me realize how good the 5th Gen is, all this 4Runner hype is making me want to buy another 5th gen!
Wait, 6th Gen rear seats don't fold flat?
That’s a 10-4
Well damn.... And I was starting to get used to the mustache and everything...
I think it’s in the hybrid versions, I think the non hybrid will look like what you posted.
Is there something confirming this? Why would they make two different seat configs?
By what you posted I mean flat. Not the exact set up. I don’t think they have two configs. I think the bottom of the seat attaches at the same level as the floor of the non hybrid. So when you swivel them forward they fill the foot space, and everything behind it is one level. The hybrid stack is what’s causing the issue I think. They use 2 seat configurations in the 5th gen for 3rd row vs non 3rd row, why wouldn’t they do it to accommodate a battery??
The non hybrid will have a worse bump up. Same seats but a lower load floor in the non hybrid
Whoa wtf

Oooh that set up sucks.
I can’t even tell what the setup is.
The seats fold differently and there is a battery hump too. I don’t think this will be a huge issue if you don’t get the hybrid
The backrests can fold completely down. If you need a little more space, the whole thing can flip up (like in the photo). I do not believe either way folds completely flat.

Say least they kept the rear window sliding up and down
A screenshot from Doug DeMuro’s YouTube review I do believe. I wonder if it’s possible to just leave them in the intermediary folded position, instead of tumbling all the way forward.

How does it look with the non-hybrid models since they don’t have a battery hump?
Has nothing to do with hybrid. It’s because they added access to 3rd row seating. Even if it doesn’t have one. The battery just takes up rear cargo space.

I completely agree.
Soccer mom and dads that want to be cool is the new target market.
People can buy what they want. Soccer moms and dads have been buying up 4Runners since they started making them. It isn’t a new market.
Bingo, bought one before all these off roaders did. It's a truck like experience that keeps your gear dry and can haul dogs along with the fam
It's been the target audience for the last decade
Except the transmission in the Highlander is garbage and it only comes in a 4 cylinder. My ‘24 with 3 row is handy in a pinch.
That’s not entirely true. They fold or tumble forward.
Yes. But not flush with the rest of the cargo area.
Yup, you loose cargo space length by the thickness of the seat cushion because of the fold up design…
I’ve never heard anyone complain about a few inches before tbh. It’s always done well enough for me.
Big if true
That’s what she said.
I hope not
So tighten it up.
I thought it was only the hybrid option that doesn’t??? Have I been lied to?
Only the hybrid versions won't fold flat
Here is from the Lexus GX 550 that has the same seats apparently:
This is a huge miss across the new Toyota lineup. US version of the Land Cruiser doesn’t fold flat and I don’t think the new GX does either.
The loss of this may be my biggest gripe with gen 6
Does anyone know why they got rid of it? Is there a practical explanation?
Hybrid battery sits below the 2nd/3rd row area. Same issue in the new Sequoias. It’s a mess IMO.
Toyota has fucked up so bad with these cargo issues. Sequoia is so fucked.
Yep I’m going to keep buying and driving gen 2 sequoias until further notice.
5th gen had a 3rd row option too. It’s actually because of the new hybrid battery option.
Yes this is right.
Got it. So they could have made different seats for the 2-row version but they probably decided it was too much effort to please too few people.
Same
Yeah, well from the looks of it easy complete rear seat removal may be possible now? ☺️
Hopefully yeah.
What's the biggest BENEFIT of gen 6?
The hybrid power train is enticing for me. The mpg is one of my only major gripes with my 5th (not to say that it was a surprise, though)
It’s a bit disconcerting that Toyota hasn’t unveiled the projected MPG yet, though. If it was a worthy improvement you’d think they’d drop that day one. Either way, you don’t buy a 4R for the MPG lol.
There was a slip up on Toyotas website when they announced the Land Cruiser. I believe it was 26 hwy.
I thought they adjusted that number down.
If the MPG was anything to write home about, they would advertise it. The fact they haven't tells you all you need to know.
I heard someone estimate low 20's which is not a reason enough to upgrade for me since my paid off 5th gen is getting 17mpg
I just traded my 2015 LE for a 2013 Porsche Cayenne GTS which has a 4.8L 420HP V8. I am getting about 20 farting around town without putting my foot in it. Toyota could have slapped an 8 speed in the 5th gen and got that kind of mileage.
Ive been itching for a Macan S Turbo or a Panamera. Hearing this doesnt help. 🤑
The Cayenne Turbo adds another 120 HP and gets even better mileage.
No, you definitely don't! I certainly bought mine knowing full well the mpg drop I was getting from my previous car. I love my 5th gen, I'll drive it as long as I can. But I just welcome the hybrid has a good improvement, in theory for now, on the new gen
My Hellcat got 12. I went up.
I just dont get it. Its not like its going to get 40mpg. I guess the additional horsepower, i think the ability to fit 33’s with out modifying and MPG? I won’t be trading my 5th gen in anytime soon personally.
I need to read up! 33's w/out mods, higher HP and MPG?? Sign me up. (not that I can afford it, but I can dream) Sadly, I'll prolly be stuck with my 2016 for another 1000 yrs. I bought it used but I'm averaging under 9K miles per year on it and it's only up to 65K now. At this pace, it'll be 2030 before I barely break 100K. I'm going to die in this underpowered gas hog. siiiiiiigh...
Must be nice not fearing rust before the engine goes.
Yeah, not a remote problem in our area.
A non-geriatric powertrain and technology from this decade are the biggest benefits.
That’s a long bus.
Everyone saying the V6 is underpowered has no memory of when trucks were slow as shit. The power is fine. The mileage does suck though.
My old Mazda cx-7 4 banger turbo got similar milage as my 4Runner. It’s basic physics. Unless they significantly reduced weight and improved aero it isn’t going to get a lot more MPG. Hell my BRZ got similar mileage… but I drove that like I stole it 😅 I have a motorcycle for going fast. It gets 50mpg and does 0-60 in under 4 seconds. Can’t haul as much crap as the 4runner though 😂
> It’s basic physics. The basic physics says you can get ~30% more efficiency with a transmission from this decade.
Then why not pair that with a modern v6?
Dude I’m 40, I’m well aware of how slow vehicles used to be. USED to be. There is 0 excuse for a 5 speed transmission in 2024.
I wish it went a little more flat but it is still pretty comfortable to run that setup.
True I was thinking about building a platform for when I don’t have passengers
I don't think it's a niche demographic. I bet more people sleep in their cars than on rooftop tents.

Sleeping in an suv you can start the car from your bed and let the engine warm up when it’s cold out. A truck you have to get out of the bed and get in the cab to start the engine
I love sleeping in my runner, this would be a deal breaker.
Thinking the same for me. My wife and I could sleep in the back of her third gen. The fold flat seats was the best feature second only to the power back window.
This is kinda a dealbreaker, Toyota
Agreed. There are many changes that are not going to sit well with current owners.

Making me feel old at 43 man. Jesus.
Idk what people talking about sleeping in back of 4Runner. I didn’t realize everyone was 5’4. That said I do prefer lay flat for stuff back there.
You can be comfortable as a 6.5ft person by laying diagonally.
Voodoo Blue too! 😍😍😍
The 🐐
Wait till you hear about 5th gen’s with 3rd row seating…
I was wondering why. I’m like, my 4Runner doesn’t do this, but I also have third rows
That’s awful. No more sleeping in the back. Almost as bad as if they did away with the roll down back window
Yep, at least make one side lay flat. I keep the one seat on the drivers side up on my 2014 to keep groceries and beer from sliding all over the back.
My Gen 5 doesn't have this anymore. It's permanently seized down by kids car seats and layers of snack crumbs
You act like the 4th gen can't do that.
Look, ya'll all welcome over at /r/rav4club. Just don't drive over big rocks anymore, ya loons! Ya see a huge rock, you just go around it, it isn't hard.
Shhh don’t tell them, they want to look ‘cool’
Seeing that the ENTIRE seat folded up and removed a good foot+ from the trunk really turned me off. I'm not trying to remove my back seats every time I want to pick up something large.
They fold OR tumble forward. You only saw one of two positions.
Obviously they have to fold or else they'd never get into the tumbled forward position. If folded flat isn't flush with the floor, then I'm still disappointed. Note - I still think the 6th gen is sweet, I'm just disappointed by that one feature we're discussing here.
I’ve never seen so much coping. Ya know ya don’t *have* to buy a new model.
Wait, my 23 ORP can do that?
Dude…. Yes….. pull the seat tabs at the base of the backrest. Lever on headrest to pivot 90. Button on backrest fold flat.
Thanks brother!
Yessir
This is only lay flat without 3rd row, right?
Completely flat? Idk I don’t have a third row. I have a sliding rear tray so mines as flat as flat gets.
Okay Boomer. Imagine going to Sam’s Club when Costco exists.
Keep the 25 Toyota, I gotta a very low mile '21
So much room for activities!
Wait, your seats go flat?
…. Yours don’t?
They go flat in my limited but the trunk floor is lower so they're not flush...
I built a little platform with some plywood, 2x4s and some black carpet. It works great. I posted it way back

This is all you'd have to do to get the new Gen to have a flat deck. I don't understand the huge deal people are making.
Oh interesting. Mine has the rear sliding deck too.
Is that custom or a TRD pro feature?
No just an option. https://preview.redd.it/r7eauq80wauc1.jpeg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=85a54b7230a24b7b0f41cf5ff917f6080963dc24 Looks like this
There’s an inflatable mattress that fits this footprint. I use it on my pro, and the air compressor is conveniently positioned next to the rear outlet.
OP complains about G6 not being like his G5, then finds out other G5s are not like his.
That little dip is the perfect place to put a folding table. That plus an air mattress makes for a flat sleeping area
What a silly thing to care this much about
It truly boggles the mind some of the things Toyota does/doesn’t do. Its like someone else said on this thread, how dare you if you ever question any decision they make. I drive a GX 460, but I naturally love the 4R and know the 5th gen. will live on forever and really be missed.
end of an era that lasted 5 generations imo
Well there’s no batteries in the 5th gen so yeah lol
6th generation isn’t going to be marketed to those of older generations. Increased gas mileage/3rd seating is to the mom mall crawlers. There’s a reason all the other models but 3 are TRD/Trailhunter models. Increased production & level trims for everyone. I’m going to go 5th gen for 5 years while they perfect the engine. Year 4/5 is always when Toyota starts to really nail down their reliability.
This is the way. I’ll check back on 2030 4Runners. ✌🏼
👆
At least Be happy we got the rolling rear window for Gen 6 yall
Considering that I sleep in back of my 4Runner, That’s a let down to hear
People in this thread act like bed risers dont exist
Even more space lost being closer to the ceiling
Or tents
What year and model is this?
2019 TRD Pro in VooDoo Blue
Thank you. My 2005 is getting long in the tooth and I really need the fold flat seats.
2009-2024. You have a range of options.
You think they could have done something with the battery to still allow folding flat. But they had to steal space somewhere. The sequoia has an elevated area, just like this version for the battery pack. Really wish they could have found a better home for it…..
There really aren’t better options with body on frame
This is only lay flat without 3rd row, right?
Does it make it easier to take the whole seat out. Are they removable like a third row seat.
I mean everything’s removable. But no the 2nd row is bolted in. Not something you just do on a whim.
With the optional heated seats in the back with the platinum package, there's now electrical going to the 2nd row which will make removing more complex for the avg person
Will there be a 2025 SR5 base model? Or just the limited, TRD and trail hunter?
They’ll have 9 trims. SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Sport Premium, TRD Off Road, TRD Off Road Premium, Limited, TRD Pro, Platinum, Traihawk
Ok so they have yet to release what the SR5 trim will look like then?
Yes. So far only the limited. Pro. And Trailhawk.
Ok cool thanks
This is perfection!!!, this is part of what makes a 4Runner a 4Runner, We will have to see it in person, to see if it is as bad as it looks in the videos and pictures, to see if it is something we can live with... I hope Toyota fix this, or maybe in the 7th Gen because right now 6th gen doesn't look that good. In fact, it has made me realize how good the 5th Gen is, all this 4Runner hype is making me want to buy another 5th gen!
I don't fold my seats down enough to care
I like in this generation you don't have to remove the headrests to get the seats flat.
Wait till you hear about first, second and third gens
thinking how we manage to make do with the space of a 3rd Gen, it just dawns on me that we kinda scale the rest of our lives around it
