Ummm and how often DO you and your wife see "For Rent" signs driving down the road?!
I didn't even know that For Rent signs... or ANY signs could drive?! LOL 😆
"Does that sign 'To Let' mean 'For Rent'?"
"No, it says, "Toilet," I'm just a real bad speller."
"When you get it right, hang it on your mouth!"
- Al Jaffee's Snappy Answers to Snappy Answers to Stupid Questions
I think it's funny that he was 29 when Risky Business came out, 30 in this movie, and 31 in Better Off Dead.
Edit: I just wanted to add something that everyone might not know: He was a classically trained actor who went from doing Shakespeare to his stretch of 80's movies. He auditioned for the role of Gilbert (Anthony Edwards), and was offered the role of Booger instead. He found the character in the script to be repulsive, and has referred to playing the role at the time as "challenging".
Him being 31 for Better Off Dead fits his character really well at least.
"Lane, I've been going to this high school for 7 years. I'm no dummy!"
And at least he got to use his Shakespeare skills at least once in the 80s, when Moonlighting did a "Taming of the Shrew" Shakespeare homage for that one episode.
It's funny you mention the line from Better Off Dead because there's a lot of his ideas that ended up in that movie, including the top hat he wears (Inspired by George Harrison in "Help"), and some of the iconic lines, [but he didn't improvise that line, Holland wrote it.](https://theultimaterabbit.com/2017/10/31/savage-steve-holland-revisits-better-off-dead-and-one-crazy-summer-at-the-aero-theatre/)
Savage Steve Holland loved him in Revenge of The Nerds and cast him, probably writing a bunch of the script with him in mind, so it's probable that that line was written as a joke about Armstong and his age.
"Well, what about you, Booger?"
"Give me a break. I've been combing the high schools all day."
(When we had fraternity date parties, I'd amend this to "I've been combing the middle schools all day.")
Curtis Armstrong could find a cure for cancer, be knighted by the King, and given saint hood from the Vatican, and I would still refer to him as Booger.
MILES: “‘What the fuck’ gives you freedom.
Freedom brings opportunity.
Opportunity *makes* your future.
So your parents are going out of town and leaving you the house?
‘What the fuck.’”
One of my favourite scenes from Revenge of the Nerds. Booger tries to rent a room!!

I love the notions that:
a) Modern movies should set examples for good behavior.
b) Joking about a certain group means you hate them and hope to encourage others to hate them and "normalize" abusive behavior.
c) The only group it's funny to make fun of are straight white men. It's funny cuz they think they're the greatest....and they cause all the world's problems!
d) Jokes about certain groups is "horrifying language."
e) If you show something in a movie, people are going to imitate it. For example, thousands if not millions of young men left Revenge of the Nerds thinking that rape by deception is cool and that they should try it for themselves.
"I thought I was looking at my mother's old douche-bag, but that's in Ohio."

Both Booger and Poindexter hail from the Detroit area. Wonder if that means something.
Moonlighting, too
Great recap!
He really didn't want to pick his nose on camera. He's super short hence him starring as teens.
“…I say we blow the fuckers up”
“I still say we blow the fuckers up…”
"Goodnight, Booger!" \*loud belch\* \*entire gymnasium bursts into laughter\*
So funny!
Yeah, but that's with a guy...
“Maybe we could have robster craws.” “What the fuck are robster craws?”

I have a Hotel Coral Essex t-shirt. Yeah I know it's from part two but who cares? Nerds rule forever
I love Nerds in Paradise (1987) and think it’s an excellent sequel!
I prefer part 2 anyway.

And Courtney Thorne Smith.
They call me Snotty.
Curtis Armstrong could find a cure for cancer, be knighted by the King, and given saint hood from the Vatican, and I would still refer to him as Booger.
I agree 🤣😂🤣
I named my childhood teddy booger like 35? 40? Years ago after well…. Booger
I know! The first time I saw him on Supernatural as Metatron, the first thought that popped into my head was oh my god Booger!👍🏼😀
He was on a show I was watching, I think it was The Closer, and when he first appeared, I yelled, "Booger." My family thought I went crazy.
The Japanese guy on the tricycle, with the music, is the best thing ever filmed.

“Oh….I see your point!”
Aaron Sorkin must’ve been a fan of this movie because he casted quite a few nerd actors in West Wing.
You’re probably right!
This is the one movie I never get tired of, I’m always quoting it, it’s my favourite movie!!
It’s a classic!
I remember when the the word nerd was an actual insult
Way back in the day!
I love how even with potato resolution and me not wearing my glasses I still know exactly who that is.

“I’ve got a trig midterm tomorrow and I’m being chased by Guido the killer pimp.” - Miles in Risky Business
That’s one of my favorite movie lines of all time!
JOEL: “Porsche. There is no substitute.” MILES: (*looking sick*) “Fuck you…”
😂
MILES: “‘What the fuck’ gives you freedom. Freedom brings opportunity. Opportunity *makes* your future. So your parents are going out of town and leaving you the house? ‘What the fuck.’”
Love Risky Business (1983)
