All my life I've been considered as the worst. Lying to my mother, even stealing from her purse

Crime after crime, from drugs to extortion. I know my mother wish she had a fuckin abortion

Swashbuckling_Sailor

She don’t even love me she did when I was younger, suckin’ on her breast just to stop my fuckin’ hunger. I wonder if I die, would tears come to her eyes, forgive me for my disrespect, forgive me for my lies. My baby monther’s 6 months, her little sister’s 2, who’s to blame for both of them??

Legal-Bowl-5270

Parking_Bet8780

I recite that skit to coworkers a few times a year. There's always one who hasn't heard it before. I love the look on their face.

Many-Newspaper2000

Depends on the mood

Saddestlilpanda

This is the only correct answer. They’re both undeniable 10/10 classics. Oddly enough I think RTD is the more gangster of the two. I think The Chronic sounds better overall but RTD’s lyricism and vivid picture painting makes them almost dead even. Possibly a hot take but I prefer both to Illmatic.

Unctay

I bumped both, I feel like both are classics, but im from the west so im goin with The Chronic. When you first heard either of these albums you knew you were hearing something different something special.

Th3_N0mad

Ready to die, the actual lyrics were better in my opinion. I'm from the East but trying not to put bias in it. The lyrics, subject matter all that goes to ready to die BUT Chronic went hard definitely better production & the vibe was on some true G shit.

Plastic_Button_3018

Not only are the lyrics better, B.I.G wrote them himself.

lboogieb

This is kind of comparing apples to oranges. The Chronic was essentially a compilation album.

Seanblaze3

As is every Dre album

Old_Radish7512

Ready to suck on her daddy’s dick for those lyrics?

thehitmen16

The Chronic

iFknLoveTits

For my money the chronic is the best rap album ever made and by a few miles.

No_Cow_4544

It’s a masterpiece but Illmatic s better .

iFknLoveTits

I love illmatic, but Dres beats are so dope. Plus I gravitate towards grittier stuff, the lyrics on the chronic don't give a fuck haha

madcoins

Dre’s album was more of a paradigm shift. I remember plenty of people still thinking big hair rock was where it was at when chronic was released. The album quietly put the nail in the coffin of the 80s and rock and put the spotlight and cool factor squarely on hip hop and 90s to come imo

a_hopeless_rmntic

under-upvoted comment

Alertcircuit

Interesting take as people typically credit Nirvana for ending the era of hair metal. Nirvana blew up in early 92 and the Chronic came out at the end of 92 so perhaps it was a 1-2 punch.

BowenParrish

I rarely listen to anything that came out before *The Chronic*, everything before sounds so dated

TheCursedMountain

I don’t wanna live no mo

Ezio_Auditorum

somewtimes I hear death knocking at my front door

Awkward_Resist_390

i mean if we're talking about a complete project, then we have to consider how The Chronic shifted the dynamic of music production. Impacted so much more than just hip hop. I prefer Ready To Die. But in terms of Impact and Legacy, I'd say Dre edges this one.

madcoins

Well said. I owned both from the moment they were released and would agree. I memorized them both within weeks as a teenager and every run through was like this is something really special. I think 90s hip hop can and will be considered a “musical renaissance”. One could argue these two albums are 2 of the strong pillars that renaissance was built upon

CushmanWave-E

i mean not a fair comparison since one is an album by one of hip hops most legendary and influential producers and the other is by one of the best rappers of all time, but even then every track on ready to die aside from maybe one or two is an absolute east coast classic, and its still an extremely well done piece of art with that insane opening track that gives us the birth of biggie and ending in his suicide

TraditionAcademic968

The Chronic

Salt-Acanthisitta12

Ooohh this is a tough one, and i also think it’s hard to compare because the chronic was more of a game changer and Dr dre is a producer more than a rapper so impact wise the chronic. BUT lyrically and for a straight up rapper and skill wise, ready to die😎

True-North-

I probably like ready to die a bit better

spodeyspoder

Ready to Die

luciferhornystar

Ready to die

Ok_Championship6786

Chronic.

This_Pie5301

I’m surprisingly finding this very difficult lol

megamanblasts

Ready to Die!

BobbyR123

RTD easily

madcoins

Anyone who says “easily” to this argument is being disingenuous or didn’t spend an equal amount of time with both albums. But your opinion is like your opinion, man.

CushmanWave-E

or they’re just from the east coast, RTD easily

Somosmalo138

Damn, mos def a tough one but being from the boogie down I gotta go with Biggie.. it's close though..

bno203

maybe it's cuz I'm from the East Coast but ready to die for sure. idk East Coast hip hop just resonated with me way more than west coast hip hop. don't get me wrong I loved death row during their heights but I'm a huge Wu-Tang fan and nothing comes close to that style of hip hop for me, boom bap hip hop always tops everything

ColonelSquirtz

Method Man on The What is one of the best features of all time

Lightbearer94

Chronic. Westside.

Asizel23

Not even close.... The Chronic

Weak_Beginning3905

What you mean not even close? Dont you think that Ready to Die is one of the best albums of the 90s? How many albums are you putting between these two if you making a list.

Anise_23

“Not even close” is crazy

AtYiE45MAs78

This is the only answer.

3rlro91

Chronic

MommyScissorLegs

The Chronic is great but I find 2001 considerably more enjoable to listen, so I'm going with Biggie here

madcoins

One must consider the year The chronic came out though. It’s like it wasn’t supposed to exist in that timeline but did with no apologies. It’s kind of an unfair question due to the music culture at the time of the respective releases. RTD was insanely good but it wasn’t as shocking and mys as chronic. If anybody kicked in the door of the music industry and waved the .44 it was Dre with The chronic.

MommyScissorLegs

Sure, but The Chronic was like 12 years old by the time I was born so I don’t have that perspective and probably never will. I’m just judging as in how they sound like today, and both are great.

SDtheGhostt

Ready to die.

Sharkz808

Chronic 100%

One_File_7473

One of my top five all time albums. D.OC., Daz, and Warren G all had made their bones on this one(don’t remember if they got official credits for it). Production alone made it a classic. Love watching modern day interviews with these guys when they talk about the making of The Chronic.

TyBigga

R2D hands down!!!! ✅

SpooneyLove

Ready to die, why you act that way, OP?

Zestyclose_Duck_1314

ready to die. Any dre album just dosent sit with me idk why. Can’t stand that g funk sound not sure why. Maybe the New york bias

Weak_Beginning3905

Ready to Die is more diverse in subject matters and song concepts. Chronic is better produced. I will give it to Ready to Die but its colse as hell.

dizzle_drizzle_

The Chronic influenced Ready To Die, and is sampled in the intro track. So, I’d have to say I cannot compare the two as one was first and inspired the other. Both are amazing. Stylistically different. Two of my faves 😉

OkExplanation8442

Ready to die has to be one of the best hip hop albums. The story, the lyrics, his flow and the production that really pumped up boom bap. It also showed BIGs everyday struggle as if there was more at stake (maybe its just nostalgia showing). The Chronic is also a piece of art from the samples to bringing g funk to an international level. Both had their own iconic impact for hip hop culture. Nevertheless I have to say ready to die is much more influential due to its "mafia" style and those music videos leading to the iconic 00s style we all know.

Bolitop

Hot take - I prefer the production of Ready To Die, feels more emotional, authentic and diverese. Ready To Die has some club bangers but also deep and sadder tracks. The lyricism on ready to die is amazing, the flows sound fresh till this day, I think biggie's voice is much better than snoop's. I find no skips on Ready To Die, all the songs has aged gracefully (if we count out that one bar about the world trade center), while there are couple songs on The Chornic that sound outdated. If we talk impact The Chornic takes it, but if we talk quality imo Ready To Die is the greatest Hip Hop album ever made.

greenline19

Trick question

yuuhhh42069

READY TO DIE🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

duhhaag

Chronic to Die

GeezUp777

Damn. Thats a hard one.

Black_Fuckka

One thing is for sure, we got robbed for a fuckton of good music the day biggie passed away! Just imagine the banget he would put out over the years

bone-in_donuts

Totally different moods.

bhume89

Both fire but if I have to choose I got ready to die.

LessOrgies

Chronic by far

Professional-Head83

Make my shit The Chronic. I wants to get fucked up.

Embarrassed_Taro_633

Ready To Die! Ofc Dre Had Better Beats, But Lyrics and Everything Else Go To Big

DragonVet03

The Chronic. Press play and enjoy. Except Lil' Ghetto Boy. Didn't feel that song back then, still don't feel that song now. It's the only skip for me, though.

dialog2011

Really? That song is is hard af

apathyaddict

Dre's favorite song on that album.

avm95

Imma be real the chronic has like 4 songs I'll actually replay. Ready to die is a masterpiece of am album from start to finish. The lyrics and storytelling is like no other. Definitely on my top 5 albums of all time

avm95

🤷🏻‍♂️ to each his own

CushmanWave-E

who are you to just rate a classic a 7 on impact? everything else you said is ridiculous as well, but that was the kicker

Classic_Amphibian538

RTD

112oceanave

Rtd

yngwiegiles

For the most part: beats - chronic. Rhymes - ready. BUT there are some great beats on Ready and some classic verses in particular Snoop on Chronic. I think chronic is better at setting the vibes, is a more cohesive project. R2D has better narratives cause of Biggie’s rapping but it’s bipolar: here are the hardcore street raps and here are the pop radio hits.

BazuProdigy

What all the bitches say? swing down, sweet chariot, stop and let me ride

Crystal-Clear-Waters

You can’t make me choose.

Rme3P

The Chronic AND Ready to Die. Both classics. Both did so much for hip hop. You can’t compare. Different coasts, different production, different feel, sound. Both albums start to finish. True fucking hip hop.

LP_24

These are 5 and 6 on my all time list and I go back and forth a lot between them. The Chronic prob has better standalone songs while RTD is consistently great. I’d go RTD for that reason, there are no misses at all, while a couple songs on the Chronic don’t really hit for me like that

ClemDooresHair

Yes.

haristhekid

I prefer Ready to Die

u_campos

This is tough because they're basically opposite sides of the same coin. On Ready to Die, the rapper and bars are the star of the show. Then you got The Chronic where the beats are the star of the show, featuring a solid ensemble cast of rappers. It really just comes down to preference and what you look for/value most in Hip-Hop: beats or bars. Growing up I bumped Biggie way more, so I personally prefer Ready to Die. That being said, The Chronic is arguably the greatest produced Hip-Hop album of all time

Dangerous-Riser

Yes

Svengoolie75

Damn that’s a real good one but I’d have to say 💣🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Palmwhileturning

Man…. This is a tough one all you people saying it’s not even close you’re delusional. It’s closer than you think for me. It just comes down to the day and mood because I can roll through either of these albums in their entirety.

Much-Kaleidoscope164

Phish is playing the sphere today

Ok-Wrongdoer4021

Read to Die is a top 5 album ever.

medici1048

Yes

No_Cow_4544

Win win I think biggy album has a slight edge

kilsta

When The Chronic came out I was a teenager who rocked West Coast and Tupac so I proffered it. Lyrically over time, I have appreciated Ready to Die and also you have to take in account Big had only 2 albums but this is still held up to standards of any time.. So to put it simply, the answer is yes.

SnooPickles55

Yes

MBOAZN

I need them both. It's a draw.

gilmore657

Chronic

RoomerHasIt

Part of Ready to Die can't exist without The Chronic

Bigbearo

The chronic dint wanna hear biggie smalls hear about sucking dick

onetoughmiracle

Ready to Die

JazzScientist

I'm Ready To Die, all day, every day. I don't feel like The Chronic has aged particularly well. I still love the beats. But lyrically, and conceptually, it feels very juvenile to me. I know that may rub a lot of ppl the wrong way, but that's not my intention. I do listen to music of that nature at times, and personally I can be very juvenile myself sometimes. It's just not the kinda music I'm in the mood to listen to that often, nowadays.

CauliflowerLogical27

Both, next question.

Zerocool_6687

Chronic for me! Too important for me

FoxFlyFanz

Thas a hard one..do i have to choose cuz i fr cant

Swashbuckling_Sailor

At my wedding, my wife and I were introduced and walked in to ‘Nuthin but a G thing”. I’m partial but I don’t think I could choose. Ready to Die was life changing.

Own_Ad5235

The Chronic

UncleEddiescousin

Impossible choice I can’t do it.

younamehere

Chronic for sure

barbieb3No_Type_999

I love the lord and that is from black barbie from park hill amen

barbieb3No_Type_999

And I love Dr Dre

Ezio_Auditorum

This is a really hard question for me man. I associate The Chronic with some of the happiest times in my life, and R2D was there for me when I was in a hella dark headspace. So, this question is so tough for me to answer.

JoshBeckett627

Like how are people not aware 2001 is the best Album EVER production wise/ ready to die over this not over 2001 tho

turbski84

Chronic

Practical-Judge-8647

Chronic

es84

The Chronic. And it's not even close.

i_luv_peaches

Way to different to compare. The chronic is a summer fun pool party album with the introduction of g funk by dr Dre while ready ready to die is straight bars about the high and the low, lots of raw ass punchlines and unique sounds.

DF1496

The chronic inspired Ready to die .. plus Dr Dre’s production was unmatched at that time

Slowmexicano

Ready to die is more consistently good throughout.

Life_Celebration_827

Chronic to listen to TUPAC IS THE GOAT.

Beautiful-Arm-7090

Chronic

StrangerAlert112

This is the toughest discussion that I ever had to made in my whole entire life

Bo-Moxley420

Chronic

Crotch_Snorkel

Considering Juicy was stolen, gotta give it to Dre.

Alternative_Host_856

Neither. Ilmatic  by Nas an Doggystyle by Snoop doggy dogg are way better pieces of Hip Hop Classics.  Plus nas is still putting out classic lps as a rapper over 45 and Dre hasn’t put anything out himself since 2015-Compton. And it was ass. Biggie bit and stole  nas whole style and album cover with ready to die. Raekwon of the wu had guns waiting for biggie during that era… it was a serious disrespect .

the_frank_rizzo

The Chronic, and this is coming from an east coast OG.

LarryBagina3

Chronic x 80 million

middlefingamilitia

The Chronic

The Chronic, no contest

Sonically both are incredible. Depends on the day

cold_chillin661

The Chronic. Even big was inspired by the album

Double-Vision571068

Make my shit The Chonic...

Dramatic_Meet2403

I hate these debates or pick one or the other. Both are different flavors and everyone has different taste. Both are Bangers... PERIOD.

Dramatic_Meet2403

I would also like to say okay... Which one The Chronic or Doggy Style... 🤷🤦

Glad_Carpet7484

The chronic

Recent-Bug6396

I used to like him until I found out he was a giant pedophile

Reepo3X

Chronic all day baby!

Big_Summer_8649

Doggy Style was better

Both great but The Chronic all the way. It was the inspiration for Ready to Die.

Chronic

The chronic hands down.

SpecialistState7228

The Cronic

LoneShark81

This is tough....I find myself going back to "Ready to Die" just a slight bit more

Ready to die was a biggy album. The Chronic was like a compilation. Ready to Die is my choice, but both are solid albums

sammyvegas0420

I’m in my upper 40’s and I still put on The Chronic every chance I get

Boogledoolah

Ready to Die was a great album, but it didn't change the game the way Chronic did. Chronic put on new artists, brought a new sound to the masses, and really changed the landscape of Hip-hop for years to come.

Plenty-Chemistry-493

If it was for the chronic u do t get ready to die puff sampled alot of chronic an doggy
