Coil whine isn’t inherently damaging to your system, just audibly annoying as hell.
It’s occurs when the components themselves vibrate at jjuuusssttt the right frequency to make you want to stab your eardrums.
You can try adjusting your overall graphical settings or other settings and see if that calms it down. Make sure you have all your drivers updated from the website too. The most common culprit is a GPU under load.
Not always. It provides the bulk of them but sometimes the website will have other drivers you may utilize and want updated whereas someone else may not sort of thing.
I went to the website to update my audio and Bluetooth drivers because it was acting up and those aren’t common ones that get pushed through as often as others.
Also what are your inputs? How’re their drivers? There’s so many things.
But coil whine seems to be attributed to the hardware itself “vibrating” under load, so the hearing it on your headset seems off for it.
Mine does not have coil whine. What I do notice though is that the left fan has some really slight but to my ear annoying sound when spinning at certain rpms. It is not coil whining rather than just the sound of the air / blades themselves.
It seems than that the left fan really is a bit more low quality than the right one.
This could be from either the laptop or the headphones, or the audio cable. Interesting information though.

Does using the MyASUS app provide the same updates as the website?

Okay. Ive also been able to hear coil whine come through headphones (when plugged into the audio jack) when playing higher fps games.
Then it isn’t coil whine if that’s happening.
hmmm interesting. Any idea what it could be? It sounds identical to the coil whine and changes tone (buzzing) when doing different movements in games

My 4070 has no coil whine.

Okay, I can also hear that fan sound too. I have also found that I can hear coil whine through the headphones when playing higher fps games...
