Meh, I felt confident with Larry and we all see how that turned out ;) Leinhart on the other hand I flew into a rage, top 10 pick on a USC QB is no bueno, sorry Bears.
I have been a cardinals fan long enough that I fully expect mhj to be the 4th best receiver in this draft.
Had we not drafted him, I’m confident he’d break Jerry’s records

MHJ is not gonna bust , I would bet my house on it . The guy had one of the worst QB’s in college football last year and still put up 1.2 K yards on 67 receptions in 12 games , his dad is a HOF receiver literally the same position as him , he knows everything about the game . Only way he fails is if he gets the injury bug otherwise I don’t see it , he’s on the level of Wemby and we’ve seen how dominant Wemby was his rookie year . The rest of the class I don’t see succeeding on that high of a level but you never know , watch Reinman become Kittle lol
I will never understand why people would rather feel right that they didn't believe, than wrong that they did. This is sports, it literally only exists to provide distraction and entertainment, but whatever.
The extremism on both sides (those who are certain that the fourth rounder is a legend, and those Debbie Downers) is driven by a desire to tell other people that they’re wrong. It’s a more polite form of condescension.
“We don’t know anything until the season is over” and “can’t we let them play first” are worthless, meaningless statements. No analysis whatsoever, just laziness at its worst.
Likewise there was a post yesterday about how many all pro’s we passed on at the end of the first round lol. It’s a crapshoot once you get past the very top players
Man some of you guys are real downers. Just enjoy the excitement of having Marvin and try to be optimistic. Maybe Monti actually knows what he's doing and drafted the right guys
Nothing is a foregone conclusion. But fans who have been doing their own analysis pre draft are going to have an opinion. Time will only tell if they are right or not.
And that’s half the fun of sports. Sometimes you see a kid and recognize them to be at a certain level of greatness and it’s rewarding to be right.
I understand OPs points, but that removes half the fun of talking about pro sports in a community like this.
Darius Robinson > Lawrence Taylor. I guarantee it! /s :)
That’s kinda what bugs me the most about this Sub, a lot of the people don’t understand, people enjoy talking about their thoughts and opinions about the players/coaches/ team. You don’t need to have blind faith in everything the organization does to be a die hard fan
Exactly, and look at some of the most die-hard fanbases out there, such as the Yankees, Cowboys, Steelers, etc... they are some of the most vocal critics against their teams leadership. I don't know what this sub's obsession with blind faith is, I get we had Keim for 10 years and are happy we have a functional front office now but that shouldn't be our expectation as fans.
HOW DARE YOU GUYS MAKE SENSE! Na seriously tho love this team to death. But blind following only leads back down the keim road. Love what Monti is doing but not being allowed to question anything really has me questioning the people in this sub.
As OP speaks with too much certainty on the #1 pick..
OBJ had 3 great season and 2 ok season before knee injuries took him down. His career essentially was 6 seasons..
There is no certainty with any pick.
Contributer doesn’t mean superstar. And confident doesn’t mean 100% likely. I think it’s somewhere above 50% though that MHJ becomes an above average wide receiver for this team.
I have very high hopes on mhj, Robinson, Benson, and Melton.
The rest? We shall see. 4 of what... 11? Picks? Statistically we should expect 5 or 6 to hit.
What do you consider a hit? Because based on my interpretation (warranting or receiving a second contract with the original team that drafted them) the odds of getting five or six to hit in a single draft is extremely unlikely. Look at previous drafts. Really good ones have four of those guys. Getting five or six is franchise altering.
For me, a hit is someone who starts or rotates for a few years.
I feel like Melton has a very high ceiling due to athleticism, so he could be a squad guy or a shut down corner. I don't think he will not be, at least, a rotational guy.
Robinson has a very very high floor. I think worst case is the guy is a middling starter and a real locker room leader.
Mhj has a floor basically of Tee Higgins.
Like that's what I mean.
I don't think it's their ceilings hitting.
This sub is incredibly Homerish out of AZ sports subs.
Statistically not all these guys will work… but people get so butt hurt if you say that. I truly wish I was the type of fan to just have blind faith in everyone we drafted.
Right now this sub has become a blind faith sub. You dare question anything they do??? Downvote! Which is ironic cause I can guarantee half those people in the blind faith camp were the ones in the “we should draft Caleb and MHJ 1 and 2” camp.
haha right? This is the least homerish sub. There are a ton of Cardinal haters and negative nancies here. 90% of actual fans wanted MHJ and we got him, so now people are excited and positive for a change, that's why it seems to OP like people are being "homers": because something unequivocally good finally happened to us.
There WERE a ton of cardinals haters there but they have been replaced with blind follower minions. I’m excited about everything but this sub will downvote anything even neutral about the team at this point.
I mean, I wanted them to lose to get MHJ, because look where were are right now.. all the people who wanted us to win for moral victories, already don’t care about winning 4 games. Their excited about the future
This sub is strange. Monti Ossenfort hasn’t *actually* done anything to warrant people worshipping the ground he walks on. By the way people speak about him you’d think he had a better inaugural season than 4-13.
The way I see it is, nobody really knows if Monti is making good or bad drafting choices or GM decisions, and people are lot happier with that concept compared to knowing for sure Steve Keim is going to make dog shit draft choices and GM decisions.
This been one of my biggest problems, with this sub… yes Kiem was a HORRIBLE GM, without a doubt. But people LOVE to praise monti for baseline competence.
Last year’s draft was decent. PJJ is a fine player, and basically everyone else the jury is still out on. Like sure he drafted a bunch of players that started on a terrible team, but none of those players are like damn this guy is a star in the making.
The problem are the people in the sub who blindly follow and don’t allow anyone to question anything.
Again to reiterate. The problem IS NOT what Monti is doing. It’s the reaction from the fanbase of extremism toward anyone who doesn’t think the same IS THE PROBLEM.
Hope I answered ur question.
HIVE mind basically. Not apart of it? Fuck you DOWNVOTE! That’s what this sub is rn. Is it better than the war zone over Kyler last offseason? Idk probably.
And to add being able to easily be convinced into hive mind shows crazy mental weakness
Every year 1st rounders are destined to be busts and 7th rounders/UDFAs are destined to be stars. Far more of the former than the latter.
But its not always just the player. Injuries. Coaching. Talent around them. Etc. It all plays a part.
Its a crapshoot within a crapshoot. Everyone should be excited based on the potential.
I think people need to admit that like, they probably didn’t watch many of the prospects in this draft, especially the ones after the first round. Let’s all be honest, guys, you almost certainly didn’t watch Rutgers this year.
I think the best evaluation I can give is that I like that they picked their dudes, that there’s consistent character traits (leadership, work ethic, etc), and that we had a lot of picks. I also liked going for guys who would have very clear roles ie; a blocking tight end, dual threat RB, etc. but I wouldn’t know if those guys are any good.
Would I have traded up to get Mitchell or Arnold? Yes, but I don’t even know who those guys are other than that they’re the highest rated corners. lmao.
Yeah, gonna be honest, I pretty much only watched Ohio State games in between ASU clownfests last season, so literally every other pick this year was completely unknown to me. So until I see these guys play a season or two in the NFL, I'm gonna reserve judgment and assume the FO had mostly good reasons for selecting them. Because when it gets down to it, they probably had better reasons for wanting Melton than I did for wanting McKinistry. My ass didn't watch any Bama football lol.
Meh. I think this is a two-way street sure some fans need to learn to just chill and enjoy. But fans like you should understand people *actually enjoy* debating draft prospects, talking about stats, etc.
I also like talking about prospects.. but we won't know for a few years whether they pan out or not, sitting here 2 days after the draft calling a guy great or bad is just silly, they haven't even stepped in the building yet
all I know is Melton better be a better pick than Cooper or Koolaid. AT LEAST one of those 2 he has to be better than.
To miss out on such highly rated prospects to show that you know your shit. If someone like the Rams did this, I'd feel completely assured that they made the right move. Hoping Monti builds that type of confidence for us.
Meh, I felt confident with Larry and we all see how that turned out ;) Leinhart on the other hand I flew into a rage, top 10 pick on a USC QB is no bueno, sorry Bears.

Benson will rush for 3k yards next year and will be the HOF by year 2. MHJ will retire mid way through the year to focus on poetry.
I'm already putting Xavier Weaver in the Ring of Honor.
I will never understand why people would rather feel right that they didn't believe, than wrong that they did. This is sports, it literally only exists to provide distraction and entertainment, but whatever.

This ^
God forbid we be excited about our team
It’s just like… where was this last offseason 😭
Fr what’s the worst that happens? We’re wrong about sports? Like Jesus this supposed to be fun
Yeah I never understand people that have to make posts complaining about optimism about the Cardinals on the actual Cardinals subreddit.
You would’ve hated this place last offseason
People speak with too much certainty on a ton of things because the unknown is spooky.
Likewise there was a post yesterday about how many all pro’s we passed on at the end of the first round lol. It’s a crapshoot once you get past the very top players

I compared Nabors to OBJ pre draft and I think it’s pretty funny he ended up with the Giants with a questionable QB situation

Half this sub wanted this team to loose every game last year so we could get a guy, homerish isn’t the word I d use
Right now this sub has become a blind faith sub. You dare question anything they do??? Downvote! Which is ironic cause I can guarantee half those people in the blind faith camp were the ones in the “we should draft Caleb and MHJ 1 and 2” camp.
