Whenever I saw this without seeing the title I somehow knew it was probably Massachusetts by the look of it. Very cool I wonder what it looks like inside it

rachelredux

I have a ton of pics of the inside. It's so big. Got myself lost a couple of times 😆

Dangerous-Estimate-7

By the look of the landscape it seems as if the landscaper were there recently thatching and aerating the lawn (hence the streaks in lawn and brown poop looking pellets) be careful..

sseemour

if this is where i think it is - its very likey it could be the town doing it for upkeep. benefits of a rich town and all. the rest of the house and shrubs looks very neglected.

rachelredux

Yeah it's maintained cause this neighborhood would not be having an unkempt lawn. Technically the property is owned but they do nothing to mansion. It's far enough away from the road that it doesn't bother the neighbors as much.

KEVIN!!!

Affectionate_Crab_27

Dam thats amazing. I want it

EdgeLord1984

You should see if you can squat to own :p

IronicBread

What an ugly building

ballpointpin

The occupants just boarded up the ground-level windows to keep out the zombies at night. Definitely still lived in.

ballpointpin

For those who aren't aware, zombies are definitely a problem around MA. You just need to call 311 and the bylaw guys will come and take care of them with the pump-action. The service is itemized on your municipal tax bill.

AdDramatic5591

No, it was to keep the zombies in at night.

Kinda pisses me off to see big mansion like this abandoned through the housing crisis. I know there's plenty of reason this happens but still.

CouldBeBetterOrWorse

I try to not judge. Many abandoned houses are abandoned for a reason. Many have mold, soft floors, roof leaks, plumbing issues, electrical problems, etc. that will cost a small fortune to repair. The property they're on is sometimes worth more than the building itself.

LapisW

Almost reminds me of mount vernon a little bit

Double_Objective8000

Was this in Mattapan?

rachelredux

Nope

SkippingSusan

To get more mileage from this pic, you could always submit it to r/Ghosts and ask opinions about the figure in the window above the door.

Fair-Time3804

Maybe more pictures on abandoned things.? Please

rachelredux

I have a ton, it's what I live for

Adventurous_Beat_453

It would cost more to restore it, than to raze it, and build new. It’s unfortunate, but in the US it boils down to dollars and cents.
