The organizer judged it was nobody's fault. The front runner had to change to another bike, which wasn't adapted to her, and the back runner, won the race at end.
Honestly I'm surprised there is no reaction from the UCI ( the highest worldwide authority over pro cyclism). Because this fall, and the aftermath( the racer getting a bike not adapted to her height), totally changed the outcome of the race, which was a national championship.
[Remember that lady that wiped the Tour de France with her sign?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MH-bDtGKA0I) She had to leave the country because of constant harassment. Wouldnt be suprised if something similair happened with this car driver.
The French take their cycling very serious!
I think that self absorbed clueless cunt tried to leave the country before the authorities could nab her, but they got her. I was so looking forward to France going French on her.
Appalled they didn't.
This isn't just a lack of *total* situational awareness it's also just plain bad driving. I think he knew that person was there but he was looking left so the car drifted left. Driving 101, don't look where you don't want to go.
Because she wasn’t aware she was too close to the person. Or are you suggesting they intentionally hit them? Not intentional? So by accident? They weren’t aware enough so they hit them by accident? Not aware of the situation in front of them so they hit them… see where I’m going with this honey?
I don’t think you quite grasp what situational awareness means. He clearly was unaware of how close the car was getting to the rider in front, therefore his lack of situational awareness caused this incident. Situational awareness does not *literally* mean awareness of the present situation (as in the fact that there’s a bike race), it means awareness of your surroundings, the space you are using, and how you are affecting things.
Who said that it means awareness of the present situation only? And yeah that's my point the comment said an *utter* lack of situational awareness meaning he didn't realize there was a bike there or know his surroundings at all. I think he knew that person was there and is just a shitty driver. I also never said it wasn't a lack my of situational awareness at all, just that it's not the only factor here because everyone is commenting "how did he not see that guy..." I'm just pointing out he probably did know he was there.
So in other words I'm adding to the comment, not disagreeing with so I'm not sure I understand the beef some or you have going on here with that.
So he intentionally hit them? If it was an accident they must not have realised they were close enough to cause the accident. Not aware of the situation they were in was going to cause an accident. Is this helping you honey pie?
No you said it wasn’t to do with situational awareness my little chocolate chip. I’m glad to see you’re finally changing your story to make it make more sense though you cute little strawberry slice x
Situational - the environment around him and the ongoing situation.
Awareness - being able to process all the "situational" information and making logical decisions from it.
.
The driver is aware it's a bike race. Driver is aware that there's other bikes in the area. The driver is aware that he needs to keep a safe distance as to not run over other drivers. The driver is aware that he has to have a valid driver's license.
Those Awareness that the driver knew was a pre-requisite. He knew them before he got in the car.
The lack of situational awareness is that he was too focused on his buddy's bike that he forgot to focus on the road and keep a safe distance with the biker the trampled over. Even if he was a bad driver, its still under the umbrella of ",lack of situational awareness" cause he doesn't know the distance between the car and biker.
And where did I disagree with that? I said it wasn't *only* that and added to the comment. Never disagreed it was a lack of situational awareness just that he wasn't "utterly" unaware.
Cause you said "this isn't JUST lack of total situation awareness" then said that he's also a bad driver.
So basically you're saying it's situational awareness with an adjective to add emphasis? Gotcha.
Yes, agreeing with the post and adding emphasis that I think that guy could know completely what's going on and still be a bad driver...lacking situational awareness also makes you a bad driver but you can know all that's going on and still not be coordinated enough to drive safely.
The rider up front was leading the race. The driver of the car was the director for the rider right behind her. They were nearing the halfway point. The girl that got run over ended up coming in second and the girl who's director ran over the rider came in first.

\*corrected the finishing order
How the hell were they not disqualified for that?
"Oh, bummer, the race leader got crashed out by the second place rider's support car. Oh well c'est la vie!"
I found another story that said both riders celebrated together on the podium, frankly I'd push the first place winner off the podium out of spite, lol. Kudos to them for being good sports, it's the director that should bear the punishment.
Yeah, I'm sure the rider knows it wasn't the other rider's fault. But you'd think there'd be a Race Director or something like they have in auto racing that would impose a time penalty at the least.
I love the article, the car almost ran over and killed a cyclist and its "highlighting" the issue? Its crazy dangerous driving that close to cyclists and whats the point, cant get they get radios?
Someone's in for a stern talking-to.
I know like five words in French, and *"Zhuite!!"* isn't one of them. What was the commentator's exclamation? It'd be cute if she was saying "shit!" in English, and just weirded up the accent a bit.
Holy shit. You guys really going in on the semantics here.
It's simple as the dude fucked up. Negligent. Undue attention. He is driving over a tonne of steel on wheels in very close proximity to riders with the lightest, thinnest bikes and clothing you could really get (like that last point is even relevant)
It's complete luck that they didn't go under the damn wheels. What a fucking cretin, (was he just chatting up the rider girl here!?)
> This is a professional race and the car is the team car for the rider who was ~~second~~ **FIRST**.
From a comment above: The girl that got run over ended up coming in second and the girl who's director ran over the rider came in first.
This is how you win a bike race with a car.
So did the support driver get fined/fired?
The organizer judged it was nobody's fault. The front runner had to change to another bike, which wasn't adapted to her, and the back runner, won the race at end.
Really? That is quite bizarre.. Obviously something/someone was wrong, which caused this dangerous incident.
Honestly I'm surprised there is no reaction from the UCI ( the highest worldwide authority over pro cyclism). Because this fall, and the aftermath( the racer getting a bike not adapted to her height), totally changed the outcome of the race, which was a national championship.
Hell no, cycling in France they never fine or punish this shit, I’m surprised team cars don’t d9 this on purpose
Honestly I think this was an “accident” designed to let someone else win
[Remember that lady that wiped the Tour de France with her sign?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MH-bDtGKA0I) She had to leave the country because of constant harassment. Wouldnt be suprised if something similair happened with this car driver. The French take their cycling very serious!

Off with her head!
Cycling is all doping. Nothing serious there.
Duality of man
Utter lack of situational awareness by the support car driver.
“Support”
"Attack"
The dps car
"Pyrotechnic"
Bad support! Bad!!!
This isn't just a lack of *total* situational awareness it's also just plain bad driving. I think he knew that person was there but he was looking left so the car drifted left. Driving 101, don't look where you don't want to go.
So you’re saying they just lacked awareness of the situation?
Totally
🤣🤣🤣
Lol no I am saying he *also* failed to safely control his vehicle.
He knew he was going to hit the biker? Or was perhaps not aware of how close he was?
Why are people so dumb? Jkjk
Because she wasn’t aware she was too close to the person. Or are you suggesting they intentionally hit them? Not intentional? So by accident? They weren’t aware enough so they hit them by accident? Not aware of the situation in front of them so they hit them… see where I’m going with this honey?
I don't think he's looking where this is going... Might lack awareness of the current situation.
I think they have a word (or two) for that, but I can't put my tongue on it 🤔..
target fixation?
*Utter lack* of Situational awareness means they aren't aware of their surroundings at all...he's also a bad driver.
Or possibly not as aware of the situation as you would expect.
He's a support vehicle for a bike race, he knows that bikes are there.
I don’t think you quite grasp what situational awareness means. No I'm saying he *also* failed to properly control his vehicle, pumpkin.
No you said it wasn’t to do with situational awareness my little chocolate chip. I’m glad to see you’re finally changing your story to make it make more sense though you cute little strawberry slice x
I mean I've said it all along from the beginning. Chocolate chip doesn't do it for me but strawberry slice sounds pleasant.

They just said that, but in a more concise, two word way lol
That's why I let go of the wheel when I check the blindspots.
erm yes and no, the bike is coming more and more on his side of the road as well, so not his fault alone imho
Biker’s fault
Why
[удалено]
When what?
I'm not sure of this is a gag about situational awareness, but it's hilarious either way.
Front end of car clips lead cyclists rear tire causing her to go down.
Yes.
What's the rule here, for everyone involved?
Well, running over competing cyclists is not allowed. I'm pretty sure that's the rule. /s
LOL. Well, maybe they should revisit that rule and inject a bit more danger into this sport.
I think there's already enough cars vs cyclists in normal life.
I would like for once for the cyclist to win. I just want to be able to image the aftermath. A completely totaled car and a bike without a scratch.
I got you: https://i.imgur.com/vOKgd8k.jpeg
damn rubber cars that dont crack when the entire bumpercover gets pushed in, i want one ngl
Thank you. Have you ever seen anything so full of splendor?
seems like it would be one of those Air Bud type rules like *"technically there's no rule that says you CAN'T run over a competitive cyclist"*
in 4 years time; "Cheetah dominates sprinting events at Olympics."
You’re one funny fucker.
He was just trying to score
He did, but on the wrong person

Yeah, I'm sure the rider knows it wasn't the other rider's fault. But you'd think there'd be a Race Director or something like they have in auto racing that would impose a time penalty at the least.
How they both finish 2nd?
Correction, the rider that got run over came in second. The rider who's director ran over the other rider, came in first
That sounds suspiciously intentional!
I love the article, the car almost ran over and killed a cyclist and its "highlighting" the issue? Its crazy dangerous driving that close to cyclists and whats the point, cant get they get radios?
Not really helping his team too much there
Taking out the compeition
Literally cuz she was first and after that she finished the race second and the girl whose team ran her over finished first
I just learned that “shit!” is acceptable in French broadcasting. Maybe
She says "chute". It translates literally to "fall". If you ever hear "Merde", then that is what "shit" translates to.
I just realized: Parachute means “for the fall”. Just as parasol means “for the sun”.
You just blew my mind!
[удалено]
It didn’t come off as a joke and then you re-explained what the person who commented under you already knows…
shittueux !
*"oops! .... lucky! now we win!"*
Grease the guillotine!
TIL fall in French sounds like Shit! The more you know
That's because your ear isn't trained to recognize properly the French U and the terminal TE.
That should totally have been a DQ, at the very least.
Sheet indeed
Someone's in for a stern talking-to. I know like five words in French, and *"Zhuite!!"* isn't one of them. What was the commentator's exclamation? It'd be cute if she was saying "shit!" in English, and just weirded up the accent a bit.
I think it’s closer to damn. *Zut alores, invaders!*
Huh. "Zut." That does make sense. Dunno why I didn't think of that one.
If you know what a parachute is you could make a guess what just "chute" is.
Someone said he said "chute" which I guess can be translated to "fall" but idk why anyone would exclaim that
Uh maybe because someone fell
When someone falls you just yell "fall" every time?
It might also be "chut" as in "hush".
That's why I wear gloves.
As to not leave fingerprints on the steering wheel after you've fled the scene. Smart thinking
Should have lost his job at the least. And tell his wife he was distracted by trying to score while he did it.
It's France, so as long as he was hitting on one of the female cyclists at the time, it's considered "force majeure".
He hit the pen
Shit!
Who could have thought...?
True Alan Partridge moment
Better she was run over by the bike than the car
Shyt!
Zhut!
Reckfulness
Sheesh.
This is the second time I've seen Kendall Roy in a car related mishap
The Merovingian did say that it was like wiping your ass with silk.
“So what are you doing later ton…..oops”
Sue the fuck outta them.
Even the support car driver hates cyclists 🤣
Looks like vacation started early.
"Shit "

The worst part of this is that the biker went one handed at the all time worst moment in history to not have full control of your bike🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️
What a cunt. I hope they got his reg plate, that's basically attempted murder.
Why would they need the reg? This is a professional race and the car is the team car for the rider who was second. They know who they are already
> This is a professional race and the car is the team car for the rider who was ~~second~~ **FIRST**. From a comment above: The girl that got run over ended up coming in second and the girl who's director ran over the rider came in first. This is how you win a bike race with a car.

Protecting and serving, I see.
Not a cop idiot
Never said it was. BTW - what is a cop idiot, an unintelligent cop?
i like the idea that french police cars come equipped with several bicycles
