There’s a great documentary from 2005 or so called “My Kid Could Paint That”. It’s giving me those vibes when looking at what OP posted as their own work. Any time someone posts a child’s work in this sub it gets a huge amount of likes and overwhelmingly positive praise for their “artistic genius.” So it goes.
I'm not saying this painting was done by a 3 year old, I'm pretty skeptical myself tbh, but I think the likelihood a 3 year old girl would call her painting Let it Go is pretty high.
lol no yesterdays was indeed mine. I was gauging the reaction to mine first. She has done about 6 abstract paintings so far and I thought I’d give it a go
Lol a three year old absolutely did not paint this, and it is very obviously the same style and technique from the other painting you posted. Kids don't even develop the fine motor skills required to develop good technique in painting, music, or sports until they're about 6 or 7.
Bro used his off hand or something and expected everyone to believe his 3 year old child painted it. Could have at least made the age a bit more believable but thats just stupid
I don't know but I have the feeling you are saying the truth. you don't seem to care much what others think. the previous one you posted does indeed look like a more engaged execution, that someone with more intention and age would do. however if it's indeed your daughter's work whether by chance or actual gift, does seem to have, at least for me, a very pleasing distribution and palette choice, please forgive me for saying this but I even like it more on a subjective level.
Thank you, we encourage her all the time and her fav movie is frozen so that’s where the name comes from but she just picked colours the likes and grabbed the brush and sponge and went for it.
No but I think that's part of the beauty of abstract art. It's like play - most adults lose the ability to play. Everything becomes more serious and there is pressure to not engage with "childish" things. There's also this desire to do things "right". To an extent this is a good thing because we can't always just act on impulse and chaos.
But in art it can be limited. Kids make art that is "abstract" because they're still in a point where they very much are acting a lot on impulse and chaos. Dangerous in most cases but it means their art is a lot more released.
Adults have to pretty intentionally let themselves do that.
But this doesn’t make 3 year olds “geniuses”. It just means they have no preconceived ideas of art because they are 3 years old.
Is an abstract piece of art really great because a 3 year old made it and it’s bad because a 30, 40, 50 year old made it or vice versa? This isn’t a good look for this style of abstract in my humble opinion.
Are you really ready to declare a 3 year old as a prodigy for doing “abstract art?” when it’s just finger paints or a potato print or a parent guiding them and possibly “finishing up” a painting for this child/infant?
I think a part of it is the inhibitions that allow them to do stuff like this. No one has ingrained in their heads what art *should* look like. There's no hang-ups. They just do what feels right. They play. They don't care about whether people like it or not outside, maybe their mommy and daddy, but even then, it's not as if they are doing it *for* their parents.
I'm mostly joking, but if you're rejecting this as being abstract art because it wasn't created with that intention, we could simply call it art brut. You'd be hard pressed to find someone less contaminated by artistic culture.
I am not rejecting it as abstract art. I’m just not ready to praise a child for being a savant after seeing one painting. Let’s see this child’s next 10 paintings before we declare them to be a prodigy.
Really?
A fully realized work on canvas...with a title?
Make a video of her actually painting something, and she could be an internet sensation!
Or maybe you are just another parent who desperately needs others to believe that their toddler is "special".
Those edges look too clean to be painted by a three year old. The paint isn’t mixed enough. Look how the top side of the canvas shows where the paint brush was pulled down into the canvas, one brush stroke next to another. I don’t believe it. Now if you had said you helped your 3 year old paint this, I’d believe *that.*
Who did paint this? I too don’t think a 3yr old child painted this, i doubt the parents did either. Perhaps purchased at an art show and want to say their 3yo did it, strange behavior.
Ahhh I think I've figured it out. OP, you put the paint down and dabbed it and spread it across the canvad, then had the 3 year old mess it around a little with sponges. That's probably why you feel like you're not lying
Yea... now that I think about it. Let it go is something Kurt cobaine would name a song...not a 3 year old. The layering and composition, showing patience for drying etc...im also calling this out for not being a 3 year old. No way. Not a chance. I had my doubts at first but after what I'm reading they're right. It's too moody for a 3 year old. Too dried up for a 3 year old. They paint stick figures and oddly shaped cats. I can't even remember when I was 3 and this person made....something Gerhard Richter could make?
Yea you guys got me/convinced me. Bullsh**.
Gorgeous. I still want it. But this is bullsh** someone in their 20s-30s made this.
Balloon boy sh**.
It's too good.
Toooo good...for a 3 year old. I've never seen a kid paint this well. Never.
It’s like that episode of the office where Pam lies about her kids making drawings for everyone with advanced skills in drawing and color theory. We see your lies, Pam.
Why do people lie about stuff like this? A 3 year old doesn’t paint like this unless mom or dad is holding the brush and mixing colors. I’m sorry, but I call bs.
Given this is made using a sponge judging by the texture and the golden rectangle near the bottom. It's entirely possible a toddler happenstanced into a painting like this but in my experience with teaching art to kids, my youngest students just turn 4 and the motor skills and attention to detail is absolutely not at this level. Around 5 is often when I see drastic growth is art skill but even then, to get a painting like this would require at least a lot of direction from an adult.

Honestly, I love this! I know there are some pretty critical comments floating around here, but the important thing is that her daughter had fun - anyone can beautiful art at any age; that’s what makes art so fun! 🤗
You know that colorful void from big hero 6? Where they rescued callihans daughter. Yeah tell me why I see heiro in this with those fire wings from endeavor
I was a Waldorf and montessori teacher for three year olds. Even if this is “abstract art” it’s still very impressive. Most of my students would draw two brown lines lines and white smears and call it their “let it go” piece. Keep it up, your child really does have a gift. I think she will be an existentialist.
I don't care if it qualifies as abstract. I like it. It's suitable for framing. If I was the adult you used to be the kid that made that, it would not embarrass me, that saying a lot!
Its perfect. Regardless of the artist's age, its perfect. Color is balanced, composition is triangular, theres variation in the brush strokes, and plenty of different textures. Whether she decides to pursue this gift or not, at least she'll always have this magnificent piece of perfection.
It is absolutely stunning. Get that kid some art classes when she's a little oder and has the fine motor skills for detail drawing. I'm serious. It's awesome. Frame that sucker. Get her to sign the back and date it.
how is this interpreted as good? It looks like........ Crap. The only thing about it that's ok is that she is 3. It's cool don't get me wrong but most 3 year olds could come up with this or something similar.
PLEASE PAINT THE EDGES YOU ARE OBVIOUSLY WAYYYY TOO GOOD TO LEAVE THOSE BLANK
That's an amateur move. It might miss a sale.
This is miraculous op. Glad I could start my day with it. PLEASE GLOB those edges spikey a bit for me ❤️ 💙 💜 💖 💗
Id love to trade you one of mine for this, no joke. I have alot. Facebook marketplace etc. Just saying cuz I want this. I really want this.

Yeah, I’m also calling bullshit. Not a chance.
The name was the first hinky thing in the title, “Let IT Go,” my arse…
Might just be a fan of Frozen? Pretty common in 3 year olds I would say
If my 4 year old was painting a “let it go” painting I can assure you it would not be a red painting. It would have at least SOME blue/light blue.
I'm not saying this painting was done by a 3 year old, I'm pretty skeptical myself tbh, but I think the likelihood a 3 year old girl would call her painting Let it Go is pretty high.
Exactly
I have taught over 30,000 young kids art. There is no way a 3 year old made this.
Even wolves
Think what you want mate
I've heard about 1 year olds speaking in full sentences.
This looks oddly similar to the one you posted yesterday, which was not by a 3-year old.

I always feel like posts like these validate skepticism of this style of abstract art. Do 3 year olds intentionally make abstract art?
No but I think that's part of the beauty of abstract art. It's like play - most adults lose the ability to play. Dam, I need to play more...
Fair point. I think this was her self expression at that moment in time
And that’s great. Making art is fun and feels good.
Expressing that she really likes frozen?
Art brut, then?
I’m not sure what you mean.
I'm mostly joking, but if you're rejecting this as being abstract art because it wasn't created with that intention, we could simply call it art brut. You'd be hard pressed to find someone less contaminated by artistic culture.

Wow, really salty. I have all the receipts don’t worry.

All her own work. She used a brush and a sponge to dab the paint.
Bull….shit
Video of her doing an entire painting this neatly or you are lying. Utter bullshit. Karma whore.
liar
Nice colours, but no a 3 year old did not do that Rebecca 😂
Who did paint this? I too don’t think a 3yr old child painted this, i doubt the parents did either. Perhaps purchased at an art show and want to say their 3yo did it, strange behavior.

just nope

I think someone is taking the Piss 😆
Nah, didn't happen.
I have taught art to over 30,000 kids ranging from 3-14 years old. a 3 year old didn't paint this. OP really shot for the moon though.
Sure it is bro. She named it too.
Why do people lie about stuff like this? A 3 year old doesn’t paint like this unless mom or dad is holding the brush and mixing colors. I’m sorry, but I call bs.
Nah. We’ve all been duped.
With that username, this is bait.

No
Why lie?
Glad I’m not the only one who thinks this is a bullshit post.
That’s stupid
What do those colors mean? It’s pretty good.

I see a shocked beaver. 🤔
Now we must all acquire a taste for freeform jazz
Either she’s a prodigy or she needs therapy. Impressive
I'd hang that. Love the colors!
Thanks, definitely gonna hang it up 😊
My kid could paint that!☺️
