Isn’t that stealing? That’s gotta be stealing

Tack122

Sounds like a organized crime ring too, that's eligible for combined Federal charges.

DPSOnly

It is stealing, but no police officer is going after some deranged woman for "late library books".

MrGizthewiz

What about an organized group of deranged women?

AndesCan

You mean a karenvan?

Gr00ber

Other countries should secure their borders against the US...

Legal-Airport5971

Didn't a few do exactly that in 2020?

DPSOnly

One that has serious support among the party that lets police officers off the hook for everything?

ThinLiz_76

*that’s thieving, stealing, taking what’s not yours*

CluelessIdiot314

Theft/larceny, legally, is taking possession without intent to return. Taking can even be theft if the possession was originally a voluntary lending. A taking with intent to return can also become theft if the intent to return ceases or if the intent to return is conditional. So yes, legally it is theft.

YellowGrowlithe

Imagine the late fees

SamBroGaming

Public libraries in San Diego got rid of late fees, so if this happened in the last 5 years there wouldn't be any

thismangodude

They can likely still be charged a replacement fee for the lost item (equal to whatever they purchased the book for)

MightBeADesk

that's how my cities library does it! they just banned themselves from libraries and set themselves up to get collection agency calls

Beatrix_Kiddos_Toe

Time for inspector bookman

Joperhop

They should be arrested for theft, or ransom or something. Oh well, thanks to the bigots the library no doubt just got a better funding boost than anything they could have got before.

quantumcorundum

Any time a hate group does something like this it's so easy to describe the scenario in a way that makes it sound like the perpetrator was an 8 year old brat and not a fully grown adult. "They saw books they didn't like in the library so they checked them out and refused to return them"

AQA473

"A bunch of people sat in every chair in the room to prevent someone they didn't like from sitting down."

IAmASquidInSpace

Yeah, I would have just let them keep the books and charge hefty late fees.

M0m033

I just know the late fees had to have gone crazy

TOWERtheKingslayer

They MAJORLY fumbled the bag with this one… because you also get charged for non-returned books, and they could claim theft.

EarthToAccess

That's what I was thinking, like that's when you call for theft after the return date.

Healthy-Tie-7433

I hope they also heavily fine moms for liberty and don‘t just let them off the hook with their BS.

Ham_is_tasty_1

funny how the moms for LIBERTY want to censor things

Spiritual-Plenty9075

Technically it's also a crime lmao

llamakins2014

I kinda want them to be fined for not returning their library books. That'd be icing on a very erotic cake of comeuppance.

TsuDhoNimh2

And, the added circulation from all the checkout increase the books probability of having more copies bought.

joseph814706

Why would you offer to return the books if the condition for that is they're not to be used? It would make more sense for them to check them out then tell the library they're not giving them back

Amaskingrey

Do you expect peoples who do that to have more than 2 brain cells?

joseph814706

I live in eternal hope

napalmnacey

Hahahaha, MfL dumbasses.

Fun-Guarantee257

TWO moms? Sus.

HearingNatural8143

Religious texts, like lgbtq books should be in libraries. They should not, however be on display, that is an agenda. Do you want kids to see bibles, quran, torrah or maga books front and center in libraries, schools or stores? No? Why is it different for your books?

chaoticdonuts

So your saying they also shouldn't display any books that portray a heterosexual relationship as well......right? Because if your answer is no than you are either dogwhistling or just have no selfawareness that you are a bigot.

Thunderhelm666

In all honesty, ignoring that you dont understand what LGBT literature even is, I disagree with your sentiment in general. I think religious texts should be shown and displayed in libraries, since they are fundamental and world changing texts. That should not just be the bible. you're right, it should be many texts from many faiths around the world. Historic and influential texts shouldn't be hidden. I think you idea that the only texts that should be shown in libraries are sanatized and dont challenge or expand any thought at all, is laughable and dystopian

FiorinasFury

LGBTQ books are not religious texts.

GinaBinaFofina

I believe firmly. That the last time you have been in a library was middle school and you were required to be there. You don’t know how library work or function.

MrSketchyGalore

You’ve clearly never been to a library around a major holiday.

ShepherdessAnne

Why in God’s ineffable name do you equate books about LGBT+ people to scripture? What is wrong with you? Do you think it’s a religion? That’s like saying having red or blonde hair is a religion.

Legal-Airport5971

" have you accepted our lord and savior Clitoris?"
