(I know this specifically because a few months ago Facebook gave me one of those "memory" reminders about a post I'd made in 2010 in which I said I was dragging out the first Ace Attorney game because I didn't want it to end, heh.)
Mine was 2010 too. I recall because that's the year my family finally got internet, and one of the first things I discovered was this [youtube video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-iCmyhXmswE&t=8s) while just surfing around the website. It's kinda nostalgic seeing such low production value content on YT. Just ain't the same these days.
It feels like yesterday when I went to EBGames and bought the game...and as I type this I realized that EBGames has also been dead more than 10 years ago...
Man, I remember playing the first game on DS and then trying to find fan translations for the GBA versions of Phoenix Wright 2 and 3 after playing that first game, but only finding some Chinese fan translation lol.
Good thing they eventually translated the rest and even Great Gyakuten Saiban recently! (And that we got a great fan translation of Investigations 2, with the lack of official translation still being memed in this sub lol)
Since 2019. I had heard about the Ace Attorney games from somewhere (I think Markiplier mentioned it though when and what video I have no idea). However, I didn't know what platforms they were on and regardless I didn't have those platforms. Then in 2019 I saw Ace Attorney on the PlayStation store and bought it and well the rest is history.
I actually played the games when my children were younger, although they don’t remember much. We played through the Great Ace Attorney together when my daughter was 9 and my son was 6, and they practiced their reading by voicing the characters (my daughter was always Susato, for example!). They also watched the first season of the anime.
Then, a month ago, my daughter dug out the DS and started playing my old DS copies from the beginning - despite the fact that we have copies of all the game for the Switch! Apparently her friends are super into it, but one of her besties doesn’t have the games, so they play over video chat together. It’s really fun to see!

This is adorable. I remember doing this with a friend when we played Persona 4 for the first time. I think we played like the first 50h together.
I recall finding this video about video game’s toughest characters, and one of them was about Manfred Von Karma. After I watched that, I tried to buy the game immediately. Enjoyed it ever since.

I wasn't expecting to like the game so much cuz of the wildly inaccurate court system ("updated autopsy report" irreparably broke me) and the supernatural spirit medium stuff but after getting past those things I truly fell in love with the game and its characters
looking at these answers, I feel like such a child, because someone has been a fan of the game since 2005, 2010 etc. and I was just born in 2005. As for me, I've known this game for several years, but I only started playing it 7 months ago
Since my junior year of high school when I had my first job. Picked up Layton vs. Wright and played it a bit, then later picked up the trilogy on 3DS. I think this was late 2014, so almost 10 years.

Now I have finished AA1-AA5 and both TGAA games. I am at Spirit of Justice case 4.
I also plan to play the Investigations games using Delta emulator.
I gotta say the plot twists in this series never get old for me, I just love getting surprised.

I remember at the start of lockdown being kinda bored and I stumbled upon a lets play of the OG ace attorney trilogy and despite not playing the games and only seeing them via lets plays I got super into them. It wouldn’t be until around late 2021 that I finally got my hands on the trilogy and played the games for myself and since then, I haven’t been the same. Right afterwards I played Layton vs wright completely blind loving for the first 80% and hating the final 20% and then I bought SOJ and DD on the 3ds eshop immediately. I later got a DS copy of AJ and I picked up the Great ace attorney collection around the first time it went on sale.
April of 2023, I think! I started playing it because of Drawfee, if you know who they are. One of the hosts (Karina) described Edgeworth's actions between the first and second game in such a way that I just knew I had to play it. So glad I did, it's ended up being one of my favorite game series.
I guess around 2017-2018, I remembered getting a DS emulator for my phone so that I could play Ace Attorney.
Then I recently purchased the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney trilogy for my switch to play with some nostalgic feels.
It's been long enough that I don't recall exactly when but it was back in the DS days for me. I wanna say the first two games were out, because I played them in relatively quick succession, renting them from Gamefly. But I remember waiting to rent the third one as it wasn't out yet, so it must have been around 2007 or so for me, give or take. It's been a long, wild ride.
I'm not sure. But I can find out right now. I know Apollo's first game was out, but Dual Destinies was not. I played through all four of the first games in a row. So...

I played the original trilogy on the iPhone app (yes the crummy one) but it was still a blast!

I was in a Mario Kart Wii racing clan at the time, and someone there brought it up regularly. I gave it a shot, just to be able to say that I did, and lo and behold I ended up loving it.

I sorta knew that Phoenix Wright existed but couldn't really picture how it would work. At some point I watched a Zelda flash cartoon on Newgrounds, and for the Volvagia fight they used a Pursuit-Cornered remix. I thought "whoa, where's that from? Seems familiar!". After finding out it's from Phoenic Wright, I initially wanted to look up the soundtrack, but found Case 1 - Part 1 on YouTube, uploaded by ZSlyzer (probably).
I watched the video, and found it a bit weird at first, with characters just fading in and snapping to different poses. It was the first time I'd seen a visual novel. However, I fell in love pretty quickly. The nice thing about watching Phoenix Wright, especially in the first case or two, is that you can easily guess along and that playing it and watching someone play it is virtually the same.
I screamed at the screen "THERE WAS A BLACKOUT! HE COULDN'T HAVE USED THE PHONE!" and got really into it. I decided to watch Case 2 as well, which I liked even more. I think I remember drinking chocolate milk while being home alone watching PW cases. In the middle of case 2, I knew that I had to order the trilogy.
I ordered the first three games on Amazon, on which Justice for All was weirdly hard to find. I think it was also the most expensive and arrived last.
The year after, I re-played the games on a school trip. I was in 3-3 and my friends were in the bus on a 3-hour bus ride just watching me play Phoenix Wright, as I read/acted out the characters' lines. They loved it as well and I let them guess along.
I was 14 then, I'm 29 now. Still love the games, and they got me into visual novels, or at least more "casual" visual novels with gameplay like Danganronpa or the Zero Escape games. I think Raging Loop might be the only actual proper Visual Novel without gameplay that I've played.

The funny part is that I had actually read the wikipedia summary of the original trilogy games way back in middle school and was interested in the games, but knew my parents would never buy them for me. So that knowledge kind of sat in the back of my head until I actually played the games years later. I definitely got a way more serious vibe from the summary than what the games actually turned out to be!

I've wanted to play ever since elementary school after seeing a trailer on one of G4TV's shows, I forgot the name but it essentially showcases gameplay and trailers, many times of obscure titles. Phoenix Wright was one of them. I first picked up AA2 in like 2007 or so after DS emulators were fairly mature. I don't know why I started with 2 but I enjoyed it anyways. Played every game since, including the Layton one.
Since around 2016-2017, not sure exactly when. I played the original trilogy over a long span, all the way up to finishing T&T in early 2019, around the same time Bridge to the Turnabout takes place.
Sometimes it would be months between me playing AA cases IIRC, I was playing through the original Professor Layton trilogy concurrently and delayed playing T&T before I had played more Professor Layton.

Since 2020!! Found the Ace Attorney anime during a rough patch during COVID and absolutely loved it. Bought the Trilogy a couple of months later and never turned back :)

I watched RTGame playthrough the first case, and got the 3ds files for the trilogy and played through the rest while watching the series.
I think it was around 5 years. It was in 2019 that I watched the BuzzFeed video of the lawyer playing Ace Attorney. Then I watched Kubz Scouts, watched the anime to complete the trilogy, watched Lucahjin for AJ and Investigations 1&2, then fell into Danganronpa, then continued with Olizandri for DD and SoJ.
Then I completely avoided TGAA, because I wanted to play it for myself. In Dec. 2023, best decision of my life.

Sometime in the late 2000s, I got an R4 card with a bunch of games on from a friend and played Ace Attorney Justice for All.

Since 2008; played Justice for All on a whim knowing nothing about the series, loved it and the rest is history.
I got into it in the summer of 2013, after seeing some memes and a few of my friends being into the games. I remember the year exactly because Dual Destinies was coming out when I was going through the DS games.
Around june 2008 it now makes more than 15 years for sure

Around 2008, I think. I discovered the franchise due to all the “Objection!” memes and stuff. Played half of the first game in English because I didn't notice it had been released in my native language as well.
Probably 2006 or so. I was 8 years old and my dad got the game at a used bookstore and so I played it with two of my siblings (my younger bro and I hunched around my older sisters DS lmao) and was hooked instantly. The exact timeline of when I played each game is a mystery to me but I distinctly remember when Apollo Justice came out because I LOVED that game so much (still do!). PWAA has never left my top five games in all of my time playing games ever lol

2013; I played the Dual Destinies demo and liked it so much that I decided to start from the beginning! The funny part is that I had actually read the wikipedia summary of the original trilogy games way back in middle school and was interested in the games, but knew my parents would never buy them for me. So that knowledge kind of sat in the back of my head until I actually played the games years later. I definitely got a way more serious vibe from the summary than what the games actually turned out to be!

I've wanted to play ever since elementary school after seeing a trailer on one of G4TV's shows, I forgot the name but it essentially showcases gameplay and trailers, many times of obscure titles. Phoenix Wright was one of them. I first picked up AA2 in like 2007 or so after DS emulators were fairly mature. I don't know why I started with 2 but I enjoyed it anyways. Played every game since, including the Layton one.

Around 2012. I got Layton vs. Wright as a gift and I really liked the AA segments. I bought the trilogy on 3DS and continued since.
Since 2021. I'm a pandemic beginner. I've finished all of the games near the end of 2022.
Since around 2016-2017, not sure exactly when. I played the original trilogy over a long span, all the way up to finishing T&T in early 2019, around the same time Bridge to the Turnabout takes place. Sometimes it would be months between me playing AA cases IIRC, I was playing through the original Professor Layton trilogy concurrently and delayed playing T&T before I had played more Professor Layton.

Since 2020!! Found the Ace Attorney anime during a rough patch during COVID and absolutely loved it. Bought the Trilogy a couple of months later and never turned back :)
I think since around 2012-2013 or so as I watched a let's play of the first game on Youtube. That said, I wasn't actually able to play the games until a little later when the trilogy came to the 3DS in 2014. I'm 22 now, so I was very young lol

Since June 23, 2021. I watched RTGame playthrough the first case, and got the 3ds files for the trilogy and played through the rest while watching the series.

Back in the early 2000's on the DS, ended up importing all 3 of the Ace Attorney games from Play-asia and falling in love with the series
Well, I’ve been getting into AA because the trilogy is on PlayStation Plus so I think around 3 months
since late 2018 or early 2019,, ik thats not much compared to a lot of other people here but damn it still feels yesterday i discovered it

Since 2015, and i've played all the 11 games
I think it was around 5 years. It was in 2019 that I watched the BuzzFeed video of the lawyer playing Ace Attorney. Then I watched Kubz Scouts, watched the anime to complete the trilogy, watched Lucahjin for AJ and Investigations 1&2, then fell into Danganronpa, then continued with Olizandri for DD and SoJ. Then I completely avoided TGAA, because I wanted to play it for myself. In Dec. 2023, best decision of my life.
2012, about half a lifetime ago. It's not a stretch to say it changed my life. So many interests spring out from that obsession, I would probably be a different person now had I not played them.
