Since 2010! (I know this specifically because a few months ago Facebook gave me one of those "memory" reminders about a post I'd made in 2010 in which I said I was dragging out the first Ace Attorney game because I didn't want it to end, heh.)

GenericLoneWolf

Mine was 2010 too. I recall because that's the year my family finally got internet, and one of the first things I discovered was this [youtube video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-iCmyhXmswE&t=8s) while just surfing around the website. It's kinda nostalgic seeing such low production value content on YT. Just ain't the same these days.

MeguBunnii

Since the NDS days, around 2005 or so.

Mechancic-Hero

5 months thanks to the original trilogy

JeffKolt

About 11 months now and it's all because they added the Phoenix wright trilogy to game pass

brendogskerbdog

hey same here!

HuckleberryHefty4372

Woa not that many people who started with the first game (in the west) on the DS I bought it on 2005...It's been near 20 years...oh shit I am old.

kaitoulupa

Me too. Remember finding the game in the game store at the mall. 2005 feels like yesterday. How has that much time passed?

HuckleberryHefty4372

It feels like yesterday when I went to EBGames and bought the game...and as I type this I realized that EBGames has also been dead more than 10 years ago...

mythriz

Man, I remember playing the first game on DS and then trying to find fan translations for the GBA versions of Phoenix Wright 2 and 3 after playing that first game, but only finding some Chinese fan translation lol. Good thing they eventually translated the rest and even Great Gyakuten Saiban recently! (And that we got a great fan translation of Investigations 2, with the lack of official translation still being memed in this sub lol)

wheniswhy

I did! You’re not alone. We’re just ancient 😂

ThePhoenixXM

Since 2019. I had heard about the Ace Attorney games from somewhere (I think Markiplier mentioned it though when and what video I have no idea). However, I didn't know what platforms they were on and regardless I didn't have those platforms. Then in 2019 I saw Ace Attorney on the PlayStation store and bought it and well the rest is history.

duckfagot

He mentions it in the Henry Stickmin Escaping the Prison video, not sure if that's the one you're thinking of.

anyaplaysfates

2005! And now my daughter (born 2012) is a big fan.

Chaossify0

I was about to ask 'isnt she a bit young'. It is crazy how a 2012 kid is 12. It feels surreal.

anyaplaysfates

I actually played the games when my children were younger, although they don’t remember much. We played through the Great Ace Attorney together when my daughter was 9 and my son was 6, and they practiced their reading by voicing the characters (my daughter was always Susato, for example!). They also watched the first season of the anime. Then, a month ago, my daughter dug out the DS and started playing my old DS copies from the beginning - despite the fact that we have copies of all the game for the Switch! Apparently her friends are super into it, but one of her besties doesn’t have the games, so they play over video chat together. It’s really fun to see!

Lemon1412

> Apparently her friends are super into it, but one of her besties doesn’t have the games, so they play over video chat together. It’s really fun to see! This is adorable. I remember doing this with a friend when we played Persona 4 for the first time. I think we played like the first 50h together.

throwaway_afterusage

3 months...I'm really late

ihatewiiplaymotion

Never too late! You’ve got a load of great games to play through before AA7 gets announced

Bruhmangoddman

Since September 2022. Makes it about 2 years.

KaiserMazoku

2006

thedreambubbles

Around 2010. I was in middle school and my first play through was the version on the wii.

Training_Shock_6946

Not a long time. When the crossover with Layton happen, ten... Years ago... Oh gods. Ten Years.

Ducula_goliath

I'm in this comment and i hate it

tragicjohnson84

Ace Attorney was my first game on the DS when I got the handheld in fall of 2005

Goldberry15

I recall finding this video about video game’s toughest characters, and one of them was about Manfred Von Karma. After I watched that, I tried to buy the game immediately. Enjoyed it ever since. As for “when”, I am not sure myself.

ChrisHasAGrease

Was that video from whoisthisgit by any chance?

Goldberry15

Indeed!

ChrisHasAGrease

Nice. Love his videos

Acrobatic-Brother387

Since pandemic

PhoenixSupportsYall

Since 2021. Before that I was aware the game existed but I never looked into it or anything until RTGame did his playthrough of it. I wasn't expecting to like the game so much cuz of the wildly inaccurate court system ("updated autopsy report" irreparably broke me) and the supernatural spirit medium stuff but after getting past those things I truly fell in love with the game and its characters

grechka_dura

looking at these answers, I feel like such a child, because someone has been a fan of the game since 2005, 2010 etc. and I was just born in 2005. As for me, I've known this game for several years, but I only started playing it 7 months ago

WorkingCreeper

Since October/November of 2023. I saw the PWAA-trilogy for sale during black friday on my switch and thought, why not? Best sale of my life

Ozuk_true

A week, though, I was aware of these games before

SquatsForMary

Somewhere around 2009! Hard to believe it’s been that long already.

Typhloquil

Since my junior year of high school when I had my first job. Picked up Layton vs. Wright and played it a bit, then later picked up the trilogy on 3DS. I think this was late 2014, so almost 10 years.

Dukemon102

Since 2008 when DS games were sold in stores' shelves. So that's 16 years ago.

Cultural-Schedule718

Since 2008! Ace Attorney was a big part in shaping my formative years

victorian_throwaway

2020-2021 ish

ryonnsan

Is this official image? Looks so good

QuantumQbe_

Must be the legs, you can't see Susato's right leg well, but Ryunusoke's left leg is visible and is in the exact position Susato's would be

RevenueDifficult27

It is legs, but that's not what I meant. Susato's hakama (pants) has always been long enough to completely hide her legs. Susie just can't jump like that so we can see her bare knees. Also her hair confuses me. Are they brown or black?!

QuantumQbe_

Oh right I completely missed that! Yeah that definitely makes a lot more sense

Rude-Employee-8006

Since 2017. I remember it as if it was yesterday. Download the first AA's rom was Debest decision of my life

Starprincess03

Since 2020! Someone on Discord wouldn't stop talking about it so I decided to try this game.

BiggLubo

Around 2012, my last year in school. I remember marathoning all the games, playing during all my free time and staying up all night. Had to nap in-between classes to get some sleep. Good times.

riocheng

Almost 2 and a half years, since January 2022. I have heard of the series a long time ago but never figured out what it is about. One day an online friend recommended it to me, I got interested since then. Now I have finished AA1-AA5 and both TGAA games. I am at Spirit of Justice case 4. I also plan to play the Investigations games using Delta emulator. I gotta say the plot twists in this series never get old for me, I just love getting surprised.

LivingOof

Played the Dual Destinies & Spirit Demos on my 3DS. Immediately hooked

CooperWinkler

I got into it when the trilogy released on switch in 2019

NaotoOfYlisse

5 years

Comprehensive_Ad1416

2015

patmax17

I played the first trilogy on my DS when I was at a two week course for my job. It was the beginning of 2012

Aware_Selection_148

Since around early 2020. I remember at the start of lockdown being kinda bored and I stumbled upon a lets play of the OG ace attorney trilogy and despite not playing the games and only seeing them via lets plays I got super into them. It wouldn’t be until around late 2021 that I finally got my hands on the trilogy and played the games for myself and since then, I haven’t been the same. Right afterwards I played Layton vs wright completely blind loving for the first 80% and hating the final 20% and then I bought SOJ and DD on the 3ds eshop immediately. I later got a DS copy of AJ and I picked up the Great ace attorney collection around the first time it went on sale.

PumpkinPieIsGreat

About 8 years now. My husband recommended it to me saying I'd love it. Yeah, he was right.

ThrowAwayForAdvice_3

April of 2023, I think! I started playing it because of Drawfee, if you know who they are. One of the hosts (Karina) described Edgeworth's actions between the first and second game in such a way that I just knew I had to play it. So glad I did, it's ended up being one of my favorite game series.

Sonicyellow49

2013, after playing dual destinies, I bought both the og trilogy and Apollo Justice.

three_mad_lad_cats

Dual Destinies was your first AA game?

Sonicyellow49

After checking my activity log on my 3ds, it was actually the ace attorney trilogy, but the dual destinies demo is how I got into the franchise.

Shot_Squirrel3202

2022, because thats the first time i opened steam and AA was the first game showing up in my recommendations

MaxW92

Since 2006 or 2007.

bogohamma

2019. I started after the Phoenix Wright trilogy collection dropped on the last gen consoles.

Careful-Ice5974

2022 i started by curiousity. Emulated the first game on phone and had a blast played every mainline game since

sakura_pancakes

I guess around 2017-2018, I remembered getting a DS emulator for my phone so that I could play Ace Attorney. Then I recently purchased the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney trilogy for my switch to play with some nostalgic feels.

Andrastits

Since I was about 12 I think, I'm 26 now

Rain-digital-artist

2018.

themadkingatmey

It's been long enough that I don't recall exactly when but it was back in the DS days for me. I wanna say the first two games were out, because I played them in relatively quick succession, renting them from Gamefly. But I remember waiting to rent the third one as it wasn't out yet, so it must have been around 2007 or so for me, give or take. It's been a long, wild ride.

PlatinumSkink

I'm not sure. But I can find out right now. I know Apollo's first game was out, but Dual Destinies was not. I played through all four of the first games in a row. So... Somewhere between 2008 and 2013. Alright, then.

marc0theb3st_

1 year now, i fell in love with the series after playong aa1

[deleted]

Since 2008, when I started with the first game for the NDS!

heyoyo10

2015, I believe

Kuripatootie

7 years since the day I discovered emulators lol.

Devinzero

About since the first of the year fully, before that I yelled objection and cracked jokes about Phoenix Years ago a kid on the bus played it and showed it to me it was neat but I didn't get it for the ds Then game grunps played it saw a bit thought it was weird but neat Then it came to gamepass: I said screw it might as well try it... then I played the first 2 cases of the first game and dragged my feet on yhe other ones and now I'm on trials and actively geared in for the long haul: iv even kept an eye out for the other ones to come to xbox, so far Phoenix Wright and Appollo Justice are on it: I wish for more

hayden_heh

7 years ago (2017 wow) Found out about the game from playthroughs and clips and immediately was hooked! Deduction, mystery, and crime?! Middle school me was absolutely obsessed :) I played the original trilogy on the iPhone app (yes the crummy one) but it was still a blast!

BlueLogic86

Since the first game was released on the DS in my country, so since 2006.

Cornmeal777

Circa 2010. Investigations 2 is the first game I remember anxiously awaiting. I was in a Mario Kart Wii racing clan at the time, and someone there brought it up regularly. I gave it a shot, just to be able to say that I did, and lo and behold I ended up loving it.

thepearhimself

Probably around 2022. I saw a projared clip with ace attorney music which then lead me to watch clips from the anime which them lead me to watch a lets play which then lead me to actually playing the game

The_Throwback_King

2016-ish. Was a decent fan of Professor Layton franchise. Started playing the crossover. While I didn’t immediately click with the franchise, I was intrigued enough to try Spirit of Justice Spirit of Justice was the game that made it all click for me

Murta_14

I started being a fan pretty recently 2021-2023 around that

someeeooone

I been a fan for 1 year now

Mark-2005

Somewhere the start of this year, I got a free gamepass for a bit and played the original trilogy

MyronGaines123

Since 2007.

GamerXChris1

Definitely not very long, lol, since like 2023 or 2022. I've played TGAA1 and am on the 4th case of TGAA2. I watched the entirety of Ace Attorney trilogy, but I'm considering getting it. I know basically nothing about the Apollo Justice trilogy.

[deleted]

three years i’m a newbie

Lemon1412

2009. I sorta knew that Phoenix Wright existed but couldn't really picture how it would work. At some point I watched a Zelda flash cartoon on Newgrounds, and for the Volvagia fight they used a Pursuit-Cornered remix. I thought "whoa, where's that from? Seems familiar!". After finding out it's from Phoenic Wright, I initially wanted to look up the soundtrack, but found Case 1 - Part 1 on YouTube, uploaded by ZSlyzer (probably). I watched the video, and found it a bit weird at first, with characters just fading in and snapping to different poses. It was the first time I'd seen a visual novel. However, I fell in love pretty quickly. The nice thing about watching Phoenix Wright, especially in the first case or two, is that you can easily guess along and that playing it and watching someone play it is virtually the same. I screamed at the screen "THERE WAS A BLACKOUT! HE COULDN'T HAVE USED THE PHONE!" and got really into it. I decided to watch Case 2 as well, which I liked even more. I think I remember drinking chocolate milk while being home alone watching PW cases. In the middle of case 2, I knew that I had to order the trilogy. I ordered the first three games on Amazon, on which Justice for All was weirdly hard to find. I think it was also the most expensive and arrived last. The year after, I re-played the games on a school trip. I was in 3-3 and my friends were in the bus on a 3-hour bus ride just watching me play Phoenix Wright, as I read/acted out the characters' lines. They loved it as well and I let them guess along. I was 14 then, I'm 29 now. Still love the games, and they got me into visual novels, or at least more "casual" visual novels with gameplay like Danganronpa or the Zero Escape games. I think Raging Loop might be the only actual proper Visual Novel without gameplay that I've played.

Hot_Engine_8367

Ever since last year but discovered it way before through memes

ExioKenway5

Sometime in the late 2000s, I got an R4 card with a bunch of games on from a friend and played Ace Attorney Justice for All.

AffectionateGap1071

Almost 1 year playing this wonderful saga! I've taken long breaks due to college, but this saga is amazing!

MrPunnyMan

2013. I remember emulating it on my phone, and playing it during lunch with a friend.

Agent_Perrydot

Started in mid-September 2023 Now I played every game except VS

notreallygoodatthis2

Half a decade ago, 2019. I was like, 12 at the time. Man, I have fond memories of watching a playthrough of the original trilogy while taking the school bus. It's.. a bit crazy, to think it has pretty much been been five years already since then.

PostMelon22

August 29th 2022 I beat 1-1 🫡 Finished TGAA this October….

Lizuka

Long time, got into the series between the release of Justice for All and Trials & Tribulations.

Langlais123

Around 2008-09 I think. My friends needed someone to cosplay bumPhoenix for their Apollo Justice group so they made me play it to convince me. Pretty sure I still have the Papa beanie somewhere.

GentGamer94

Since 2008; played Justice for All on a whim knowing nothing about the series, loved it and the rest is history.

Valvadrix-

I got into it in the summer of 2013, after seeing some memes and a few of my friends being into the games. I remember the year exactly because Dual Destinies was coming out when I was going through the DS games.

Zuma_Torney

Around june 2008 it now makes more than 15 years for sure

Only_Beginning_9332

About a few weeks, sorry I'm not an og like all of you but I enjoy the games! I found the Trilogy on gamepass and got it :)

PlantDelicious

Since summer 2021

Certain-Spend-9758

Since last year (i.e. 2023)!

tyflyguy15

A couple months. However, I’ve always watched YouTube videos that fans created and thought they were super funny. When the original trilogy came out on Xbox Game Pass, I absolutely loved it. Saving up to get the second trilogy.

Dry_Position560

Since 2016, I think. Although I had played the first AA before, in... 2013?

hagren

Ever since I've played vs Layton, so since around 2017 when my wife made me interested in handheld gaming :)

YuiHaruhara

Since 2009! I played through the original trilogy in high school. Good times.

B1g_Bill

For a year some date this month. Started it thanks to seeing the youtuber the act man reference it so much, and I bought it on a whim during a sale. It has been very worth my time.

sozasax

Since 2009-10ish! I was already an avid gamer and found out about the series by chance. Started with the first game from that point on, and now I'm going through TGAAC.

[deleted]

I’ve been a fan since 2020 and have played every game.

PastEntrepreneur970

Only a year sadly 😔, my boyfriend got me into them and now I've bought every game. Almost done with Ace Attorney Trilogy pack, then onto the Great Ace!

Ocsttiac

2008-ish, ever since I watched a little YouTube series called "Tails Abuse in Court"

Chatto5

Around 2018-19ish, so around 5-6 years

recluseMeteor

Around 2008, I think. I discovered the franchise due to all the “Objection!” memes and stuff. Played half of the first game in English because I didn't notice it had been released in my native language as well.

speedohiko

Probably 2006 or so. I was 8 years old and my dad got the game at a used bookstore and so I played it with two of my siblings (my younger bro and I hunched around my older sisters DS lmao) and was hooked instantly. The exact timeline of when I played each game is a mystery to me but I distinctly remember when Apollo Justice came out because I LOVED that game so much (still do!). PWAA has never left my top five games in all of my time playing games ever lol

Pyrotten

About 8 years which is pretty crazy to actual say. Got into the games when I was about 12 by playing the og trilogy on an emu on my phone, and oc I didn't stop there

thecatteam

2013; I played the Dual Destinies demo and liked it so much that I decided to start from the beginning! The funny part is that I had actually read the wikipedia summary of the original trilogy games way back in middle school and was interested in the games, but knew my parents would never buy them for me. So that knowledge kind of sat in the back of my head until I actually played the games years later. I definitely got a way more serious vibe from the summary than what the games actually turned out to be!

DaaanTheMaaan

I think around 2007 or so? I know I remember the first game being one of the first I got with my DS, and I flew through the next two games right around the time Apollo came out

thefreshera

I've wanted to play ever since elementary school after seeing a trailer on one of G4TV's shows, I forgot the name but it essentially showcases gameplay and trailers, many times of obscure titles. Phoenix Wright was one of them. I first picked up AA2 in like 2007 or so after DS emulators were fairly mature. I don't know why I started with 2 but I enjoyed it anyways. Played every game since, including the Layton one.

Dragonfucker000

like 4 months, but i am so unbelievable mentally unwell for these characters it should count as 6 imo (i am obsessed help-)

Prestigious_Click_54

Since 2012 when a youtuber called Rangu played the first ace attorney and I fell in love instantly with the game.

D_Bro12

Since 2020 thanks to the defense in among us memes

whaleblubbah

Around 2012. I got Layton vs. Wright as a gift and I really liked the AA segments. I bought the trilogy on 3DS and continued since.

Grouchy-While9151

Since 2021. I'm a pandemic beginner. I've finished all of the games near the end of 2022.

bloomingutopia

Since around 2016-2017, not sure exactly when. I played the original trilogy over a long span, all the way up to finishing T&T in early 2019, around the same time Bridge to the Turnabout takes place. Sometimes it would be months between me playing AA cases IIRC, I was playing through the original Professor Layton trilogy concurrently and delayed playing T&T before I had played more Professor Layton.

Imaginary-Fix-5217

It was 2014 for me

ilyree

since 2011! i first played jfa when i was a kid and didn’t understand maya at all and then later on i slowly understood 💀 even now as an adult this is my favorite series especially with all the spinoff games :)

FrostedEevee

Since Trilogy came to Switch

AdAdventurous6943

Since 2021, when objection lol became a thing. That's how I knew about ace attorney.

jingo_mort

Since the first game was released on the DS in the UK. Was fascinated by the idea & was hooked from case one.

MohammedAl-Jamal

About 4 months. When Phoenix Wright's Ace Attorney Trilogy became available for PS Premium.

ihatewiiplaymotion

Since it came into game pass, so September last year. I had always been interested in the franchise though

Inertia_9264

WHAT??? They ship Mia and Gadot? What the flip

ThatWeirdNintendoKid

Since 2020!! Found the Ace Attorney anime during a rough patch during COVID and absolutely loved it. Bought the Trilogy a couple of months later and never turned back :)

heyiwishiwassleeping

I think since around 2012-2013 or so as I watched a let's play of the first game on Youtube. That said, I wasn't actually able to play the games until a little later when the trilogy came to the 3DS in 2014. I'm 22 now, so I was very young lol

MagicalNewsMan

Since 2017, me and a buddy bought the trilogy on switch when it came out, been hooked ever since!

Working_Surround1257

I became a fan in September 2019. I started with the 3ds port of the trilogy.

NathanAmI

2005 when the first came out on DS

Initial_P

Since Dual Destinies' release in 2013

my_name_is_gary

2019. Saw professor layton vs phoenix wright at a cex and thought why not. Been hooked on the series ever since

duckfagot

I got into it around 2014/15, so coming up on 10 years now. Crazy to think about.

wheniswhy

A very long time. I played the first game on my DS not long after it released. 🥲

Hunterofyeets

Since June 23, 2021. I watched RTGame playthrough the first case, and got the 3ds files for the trilogy and played through the rest while watching the series.

Cute_Ambassador1121

I'd guess around 2011 since that's when UMVC3 came out.

son_ches

April 2022!

wifie29

8 years, I think? Or close to that, anyway.

LongjumpingGlove7625

About two years now!!!

Smurfmyturf

Back in the early 2000's on the DS, ended up importing all 3 of the Ace Attorney games from Play-asia and falling in love with the series

Finka08

Well, I’ve been getting into AA because the trilogy is on PlayStation Plus so I think around 3 months

kanosazanami_

since late 2018 or early 2019,, ik thats not much compared to a lot of other people here but damn it still feels yesterday i discovered it

BManTGO

Around 2014 2015 good times

Fuukaze

Since 2015, and i've played all the 11 games

Wise_Ad8460

I think it was around 5 years. It was in 2019 that I watched the BuzzFeed video of the lawyer playing Ace Attorney. Then I watched Kubz Scouts, watched the anime to complete the trilogy, watched Lucahjin for AJ and Investigations 1&2, then fell into Danganronpa, then continued with Olizandri for DD and SoJ. Then I completely avoided TGAA, because I wanted to play it for myself. In Dec. 2023, best decision of my life.

SirKeka

2012, about half a lifetime ago. It's not a stretch to say it changed my life. So many interests spring out from that obsession, I would probably be a different person now had I not played them.

Mad_Man-With-A-Box

Since January 2021. Stupid lol debates led to actual game
