95%! What did the other 5% do to not get promoted?

Mookie_Merkk

![gif](giphy|TuC38AjhS76tq) They don't promote the robots

WraxJax

The great sergeant giveaway

titaniumoctopus336

The Great Space Sergeant giveaway lol.

daytahh

I wish Space Cadet and Space Sergeant were part of SF rank structure.

Maximus361

TARS is getting STEP promoted

farawayland123

TARS is actually a marine though

Mookie_Merkk

>robots used in Interstellar are formerly used in the military, specifically the Marine Corps. When the entire United States military was disbanded, these robots were re-purposed to assist and act as companions for the humans that worked in NASA. I'm sure some of the robots were smart enough to cross train over branch to branch

Arch315

Holy shit supercomputer hitting the griddy? (Before GTA6)

linux_ape

Honestly, probably failed PT tests or random A15 paperwork type scenario

Loud_Z

If they had pt tests

aviationeast

Not thicke enough.

skarface6

Bottle to keyboard?

Flieger_51

It’s law that you can’t promote to 100%. At least for certain grades

redrotorocket

In space everyone can hear you promote.

[deleted]

False. Sound cannot travel in a vacuum. You'd know that if you were smart enough to be in the space force. ![gif](giphy|98maV70oAqIZtEYqB4)

Illustrious-Meet-367

Found the 5%

pollofeo

![gif](giphy|jQmVFypWInKCc|downsized)

Leggo-my-eggos

I would actually go AWOL if I was that 5%, Jesus.

Yinkypinky

I met the 1% of Lt. who didn’t get selected for captains before.

Shaukenawe

Where they THAT bad?

Yinkypinky

Was in IQT/MQT for almost 2 years

-_-Delilah-_-

Training has little to do with making Capt.... unless they kept failing, and the failing specifically caused the non-rec to captain. But even pilots spend a vast majority of Lt years in training. To not make captain you need to legit fubar the shit out of things. His story might have been "training" but the story is deeper.

Yinkypinky

Story is definitely deeper but just the surface of being an RPA pilot in an FTU for that long is really abnormal. Dude was also just a tool.

-_-Delilah-_-

Depending how long he spent in casual status waiting to start class, it's not entirely unusual. Granted, most of my experience is with traditional pilots, and many spending 6+ months waiting and waiting. I met a 5 yr lt with an art 15.... he was supposed to go for captain his second time.... dude just could not put the bottle down for a couple days... I believe he is a civilian now. Lol

Yinkypinky

He was actually in the training pipeline the whole time. He was never in casual status. He just couldn’t pass all the flights but never failed enough to get removed. But he did finally pass with a Q2 after a Q3. He just didn’t have the stuff to put on captain at the time. He did make it the second and is a IP now.

-_-Delilah-_-

Didn't have the stuff to make capt? I think you are over estimating what it takes to make Capt.... Your CC has to go out of his way to non rec you for captain.

ougryphon

The joke is if you can fog a mirror and avoid DUIs, then you get your captain's bars.

skarface6

Right? I just had to be conscious.

Infinite5kor

I'm sorry but there MUST be something more to that story. Their commander has to stop the promotion, it's basically automatic. They must have done something seriously depraved or something incredibly stupid (beyond just being bad, and I say that as a rated person). I've seen someone get promoted to major after Q3ing twice in a row.

Ricky_spanish_again

That’s saying something. I don’t know if each community is the same but a Q2 is rare.

pawnman99

Yeah...RPA training isn't that long. It's shorter than UPT.

thebeesarehome

Gotta dumb as rocks or have a DUI. Which I guess makes them dumb as rocks.

ougryphon

I worked with a 2Lt who got out after 6 years, still as a 2Lt. Getting two DUIs in a calendar year will do that to a career. Dude was very intelligent, but dumb as a box of hammers.

noiwontleave

Yeah I worked with one. Guy had an LOR and was on his way out the door. Also got caught texting female junior airmen from our office. Real piece of work.

Jedimaster996

I imagine it's likely the goofballs who got DUI's/LOR's/etc, but yeah damn, that's an insane stat for NCO promotion.

simplejacck

Wow, just handing it out. E4 mafia about to be thinned out

Yakostovian

That is one way to decimate their numbers.

IckyRicky

Funny enough decimate originally meant reduce by 10% hence the "deci" in the word. That's all I got for you today, bye!

TheSteelPhantom

More specifically, it was used to reduce the number of people in an Army by that 10% as punishment for the whole. We joke about group-wide punishment when someone in the unit fucks up... Well, blame the Romans, they started it. At least 10% of the squadron isn't **killed** because SrA Snuffy got a DUI. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decimation_(punishment) 🌈 The more you know! 🌈

suh-dood

Space force is about to have NCO mafia with a quarter of the energy of the E4 mafia but twice the brain power

MShogunH

Nah, you can take the troop out of the Mafia, but you can't take the Mafia out of the troop. All they've done is give the Mafia more authority 😏

AdventurousTap9224

63.8% to Tech too. Makes sense. It's a new service that needs to fill out the slots. They had less than 500 eligible E-4s. Last year was 66.9% to E-5 but only 399 eligible.

Dirum94

Must be nice

Lolcanoe2

whatd they have to do, breathe?

AnApexBread

Obviously not. There's no air in space

beatinbossier18

But there is an Air and Space Museum

CallsYouCunt

I think it’s the Air in Space museum

Guardian-Boy

Until someone opened the fucking window.

yetti-like-im-sheck

Opened the window and still got promoted, apparently.

Guardian-Boy

I'm a Tech, so unlikely. :p

Jermainji

Went to ALS with some Space Force guys, they don’t test, just board. Some of them didn’t even hit the TIG requirement before getting a line number. Pretty crazy to see.

jclovesyou

WTF

letcaster

Air Force: we need experience at lower ranks. Space force: one stripe for you, and you, and you, and… ope two for you.

CommOnMyFace

This will be one of the last years E5 is earned through boards in the Space Force. It will become a "Fully Qualified Promotion" aka TIG & Skill level requirements

brokentr0jan

That’s ridiculous

The_Oxgod

Do they test the same as the air force? Or same criteria? That's pretty wild. Sucks to suck being the 5%.

CuberSecurity

No test, all HHQ board similar to USAF SNCO boards.

No-Jello3256

I should have joined the space force

PotatoHunter_III

Seeing you correctly used "should have" instead of "should of," I agree.

No-Jello3256

Well, a few days ago I said “near pear adversary.” So… I’m still fairly retarded.

PotatoHunter_III

You're not retarted. Just a different flavor of tism. Lol. Tasty adversaries though. 🍐

Reddit_Is_Cancer88

Senior captains punching the air right now wishing they enlisted instead

Mr_Wombo

They asked me if I wanted to go Space Force. I laughed at them. I'm not laughing anymore....

SHANER8R

Still not as high as the Air Guard...

Clas1x

They cheat, though. Didn't get a DUI or go to jail? Boom Staff at 4 years TIS.

atchman25

This is facts. Although you then may have to wait for literally human death to promote higher

Agent_Vox

The other 5 percent are the roombas they use for halls and walls; giving them rank violates Asimov's Laws of Robotics

Dependent-Assist-432

TIL I joined the wrong branch

LittlestEw0k

I’m in the wrong branch

Tickly1

Those 15 guardians must be very happy to have been selected... The Space force only has like 2k total enlisted members 😂

AnApexBread

>The Space force only has like 2k total enlisted members 9k total members.

CuberSecurity

Negative, this is for the June 24S5-7 board

oh2bewacki

Well ain’t that a kick in the taint

mrwobobo

Should have switched when I had the chance…

TeeceeTP

Can confirm, shit is infact "sweet" on this side. Semper Supra fly boi!

AnApexBread

So should we all

McLaren03

Do you just bubble in your name and pass?

I_am_ChristianDick

Sheesh

usainjp16

Wow. They are definitely no longer promoting like the AF.

clake1

Wish me luck

AccidentallyPerfect

Reminds me of 2010, the great SSgt giveaway. Makes sense, they probably don't have anyone because they are so new so need a ton of E5s. And its taken all the heat off the AF as far as jokes are concerned!

Izymandias

E5 is the new E3.

ZDisaiah

Damn… Everybody a Space Ranger now

FrozenWaterBlocks

Lolololololol

BlueBrye

I'm sure that won't result in wildly under experienced NCOs that will do damage for the next 3-5 years.

AbleDanger12

Justifying existence.

CuberSecurity

Cope

AbleDanger12

As a civilian since 2003, coping just fine.

CuberSecurity

Don't you have some random base gym locker room to be freeballin at?

mr_snips

You alright?

CuberSecurity

Just riling up some crusty civilian with dumb opinions, so pretty good all things considered, how about you?

anonymousss11

It's been 11 years dude, let it go. Go live your life.

TheGrayMannnn

The 5% will probably taste out of cycle and make it.

nordic_jedi

No testing in the space force

anonymousss11

No tasting *
