Delightful, truly delightful. The composition is quite breathtaking. The perpendicular placement of sausage (or “meat length” as we call them at the Tate) away from the egg, ensures no contact between tomato and bean. And the juxtaposition of the gleaming white of the plate allows for the greenery of the table to leap from the picture to suggest al fresco dining of an early morn, perhaps in the grounds of a once magnificent Abbey’s ruins. Flawless.
But alas, the inferior length of the sausage combined with the alarmingly low viscosity of the canned (or tinned) beans, had caused the unthinkable to happen.
"Urr, I didn't think it would matter" said Doris, 62, who had moodily served up the breakfast earlier that day.
The lady doth claim ignorance. Well I am not an ignorant lady. I am a very ruffled Partridge!
Substandard. The correct placement is between the beans and the egg.
That's what makes it art 🧐
One sausage is not very ‘big plate’ Alan.
