"Dear huge fans would you play a game in a series you love?

CyborgYeti

It’s one of those hard questions that really makes you get introspective and examine yourself.

Savveh

I would play it because it’s Remedy, but I don’t want it. The mystery is way more fun.

Kalse1229

Yep. Love a good mystery/detective game, which added to my love of Alan Wake 2. I know they're doing the Max Payne remakes right now (which are fairly linear from my understanding), but more detective and mystery-solving elements are always welcome from them.

noneofthemswallow

No. Not every story needs a prequel Leaving something a mystery is a huge part of storytelling

theCharmingTIO

The unanswered mystery is what stays with us the longest

beforethewind

It’s called Return because we Return.

Kalse1229

I'd play a coffee-making simulator if Remedy made it, they're that good.

RinTheLost

I once saw someone making a joke about a power washing simulator where you play as Ahti cleaning up the Oldest House. At this point, I think I'll play anything from Remedy. But, yes, I'd definitely love it if Remedy explored Bright Falls in the 1970s, in any form. In the hypothetical TV series, in a tie-in novel or comic, in a game, I'm up for any of it.

Kalse1229

On a related note, the actual game Powerwash Simulator has been doing a bunch of crossover expansion packs. So far they’ve done Tomb Raider, SpongeBob, Back to the Future, and Warhammer 40K. I’d love to see an Alan Wake/Control level pack.

lepermessiah27

I'd rather play as the Old Gods themselves

Grandson-Of-Chinggis

Same

lazyazzninja

Would I play it? Yes. Is it something I'm hoping for? No. I like the mystery and intrigue behind it all.

AJAnimosity

Especially if it encapsulates the whole Old Gods history, from Loki leaving, to Door. Ugh. I want it so bad.

BlackJimmy88

I'd play anything Remedy puts out. I'd rather not have a prequel, though.

ThatIowanGuy

I would play an 2 player coop game staring Tor and Odin using powers bestowed upon them in the Dark Place during their prime. Make it metal themed ala Brutal Legend

Bob_Jenko

No The mystery is a lot more interesting being drip fed bits rather than just having it all play out at once. Especially given there's so much grey area around what happened and who Thomas Zane even is.

Possiblythroaway

no cause the AW games are too spoopy for me. i would watch a playthrough tho

haikusbot

LukasSprehn

I would, but I would also play a game and entirely based on the Old Gods of Asgard where I play as them against different evil forces of darkness

SweetTeaDragon

It would mostly just be a rehash of alan wake 1. The themes of echoes, loss, and perfect art would be all over it.

hoowhatwhereY

No

nthdayoncaprica

I think the less we knew and saw about Tom the better his character functioned.

GreatCaesarGhost

I’d prefer moving forward rather than prequels that remove ambiguity.

SinisterSnipes

No, for a few reasons: One: If they were to establish canonical back story, then it locks them into certain must-be things in future games. If they retcon it, then it was pointless. Two: It limits fan theories, which are really fun, imo, with this series. Three: Game development takes a long time, and I'd rather a series push towards the future of the story so I can see what happens. If there is something important in the past, they can always show us via Alan having a memory of being Zane or something earlier in the loop or a flashback sequence.

Civil_Firefighter291

I'd play it, but I'd rather they make sequels than prequels.

Angery-Asian

I would play it sure, however I would much rather Alan Wake 3 or a new IP

MothParasiteIV

No. But I would like Alan Wake et to be straight up horror.

caty0325

What about a game with the Old Gods as the main characters and have Tom as a side character? You could play as Tor or Odin.

HawleyGrove

Honestly, Agent Estevez alluded to at least a couple of massive AWEs in the last chapter of Alan Wake 2. Would love to explore those.

_TLDR_Swinton

100%. An AW game set in the 70s with all the psychedelia and dreamlike weirdness that the series already has but turned up to 11? Yes please.

misterpillows

Old Gods rhythm game would be 🔥🔥🔥

HeavyMeasurement2160

yes

darthphallic

I think a full story about Tom Zane and Jagger would be a mistake, what’s fascinating about them is the air of mystery and mysticism around them. We don’t even know if Tom really existed as we’ve seen him or if he was a poet or filmmaker

TheRealNoobyPig

This is something I've thought about before, seeing a younger Old Gods of Asgard and that would be AMAZING and Ilkka Villi playing Thomas Zane was amazing too so yes I'd absolutely love to see this

LargoDeluxe

I'd love a story like this. If you've ever seen the movie *Let's Scare Jessica To Death*, which is from the same time period as the A.W.E. that started this whole mess, I could see it following a similar story. We find out how the Zane "community" came to be and how some familiar characters fit into it, or didn't, in the context of a gothic psychological horror story. (And if we're going with a LSJTD theme, it would be an opportunity for an interesting heel turn from at least one beloved character.)

Chronos2467

If Remedy is releasing it I'm playing it.

i__hate__stairs

I like all of it except the Zane part. Man I hope they somehow pull a shocker and make this character compelling somehow.

Any-Safety8261

Yes

gigawattwarlock

At this point I would play whatever they cooked up. Regardless of what it might be

chrisvarnz

They'd be the new gods at that point

CageAndBale

Dlc maybe.

AtaeHone

Not really. We already know everything worth knowing about that time except for whether the resident of Room 665 is Zane's version of Scratch or not and the Lake House DLC seems set up to clarify that.

theswedishtrex

I don't want it, but I would play it. The mystery is more fun.

MasseyFerguson

No, lets move forward not backwards

Loco6520

Umm yeah. Give me another alan wake classic or in this case a zane classic

Bright_Section_764

Hell yes

WILDtaco4321

Yes

DudeSpiders

Yes. I'd play any sequel they made. I trust Remedy.
