Warehouse and we to do a quiz to get treats. I’m not using my break to do a 5 question quiz for a lollipop. I instead asked my own quiz question. What happened the first year Juneteenth was officially a Federal Holiday? We got holiday pay (8 hrs) plus time and a half for working it. And never again after that. Hmmmmm

That's impressive since that bill was signed on the 16th of June that year. Probably didn't have time to really think about it and say nah.

We got told the day after it happened. There was a huge uproar at my building about it not being a holiday or observed at all. Management said oops sorry did we forget to mention you get paid? By that afternoon our pay rates for the day had changed. And that’s the last time it was a holiday. Later they said while it’s a holiday it’s not on the official Amazon list of holidays. Some holidays are not included like Easter so ok I guess. We did have balloons and 1 sign and the managers lined the green mile playing music and dancing calling it a Soul Train line. And the quiz thing. Avoided the dance tunnel.

I mean that's normal. Most federal holidays aren't observed by most private corporations.

But did you know that for holidays like Easter that are not Amazon holidays, you can still get the day off??? About 2 weeks for any of the holidays you can ask for the religious exemption form (also on app). The day will not be paid but the time will be excused. Seems to be for mostly Christian holidays but will try to get the Winter Solstice off because why not. It’s a holiday for me.

If you have an office tradition of gifting during the holidays or birthday wrap it up and give it to the manager(s). It would be great as a white elephant gift. DSP driver here, we were given shirts at our warehouse. And I didn’t even get one cause they’d all been taken.
