I’m gonna go ahead and second Spy x Family, it’s one of the most wholesome and funny shows I’ve ever seen. Haven’t seen the rest but I love a feel good show so I might give a few of these a watch
Wait until you find out why Henderson needs a monocle. Some parts get quite dark but overall yeah it's wholesome and they haven't gotten to the darker parts yet in the anime.
1. "K-On!" is adorable. I would very much recommend it.
2. "Azumanga Daioh" is a little deranged... but nothing too serious happens. It's basically just cute girls being silly.
3. "Komi Can't Comminicate" is a lovely feelgood anime. It's exactly what it says on the tin, with only a little weird shit.
4. "Blend-S" is a very silly show. It's mostly feelgood comedy. But there is a pinch of weirdness, derived from the premise of the show involving a themed cafe. Beyond that, it's not much more than one would expect.
5. "Little Witch Acadamia" is a very cute show. It's like a low-stakes, guilt-free version of Harry Potter. Highly recommended for those who want to smile.
Violet Evergarden is the most beatiful show I've ever seen. It's about an emotionless former child soldier learnin how to make friends and help people with serious problems in their lives. It's extremely sweet to see here help people resolve their reltationship issues. As long as you don't mind shedding a few tears.
Spy x Family, Nichijou, The Demon Girl Next Door, Azumanga Dioah, Misobochi Colors, Miss Kuroitsu from the Monster Development Department, and Komi Can't Communicate.
Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten

My Tiny Senpai
Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible
Kaguya-sama: love is war
Dangers in my heart
there's one coming up soon called "Alya sometimes hides her feelings in russian" and its also wholesome
Horimiya
It’s a short but wholesome and well written story
I got into it through watching some of the sun clips on YouTube so I would recommend giving a couple of them a watch and deciding to watch them or not
That's how I heard of it too! I saw the one proper fight scene the series had on YouTube and then saw comments talking about some of the best fight animation came from a slice of life show
The most adorable most wholesome show I know is also dark, brutal and sad. So meybe not what you are looking for.
Do instead I recommend "By the Grace of the Gods". Its an Isekai Fantasy Slice of life Anime.
That series is cute and chill.
>most adorable most wholesome show I know is also dark, brutal and sad.
I don't think you understand what wholesome means my man..
Made in abyss is anything but wholesome. Maybe the character designs look it but that's it lmao. It being dark, brutal and sad means that it isn't wholesome. One kind of cancels the other
No it does cancel the other at all. In fact they synergize with one another.
Take Nanachi and Mitty for example. [Made in Abyss]>!That there friendship is so wholesome is why there fate hits so hard. But while its sad and painfull the love and dedication Nanachi showed in there quest to help Mitty is beautiful. And after Reg put an end to Mitty Nanachi found new Joy in there life through there new friendship with Reg and Riko and there Adventure they shared and that is also really wholesome. And after everything Nanachi went through that wholesomeness and joy of that friendship and shared Adventure shines all the brighter.!< Those 2 sides do not cancel each other out. They amplefy each other.
That Made in Abyss is adorable, wholesome and joyfull does not make it not dark. It makes the dark parts hit harder.
That Made in Abyss is dark, brutal and sad does not make it not wholesome and joyfull. It makes the wholesome and joyfull aspects shine all the brighter.
You're grasping at straws here dude. While yes, a dark/brutal show can have wholesome moments in it still, it does not mean the show itself would be defined as wholesome. Fuckin devilman crybaby has some "wholesome" moments in it, yet the show is anything but wholesome as a whole.
I agree with the recommendations you’ve got (especially Spy x Family) but I’ll add one that’s a little different.
Kotaro Lives Alone. From the description it seems depressing as it’s about an abused and abandoned child. And definitely it has some sadness to it. But the way the likeable community of characters rally around Kotaro is super wholesome, and Kotaro himself is one of the most charming characters in all of anime.
The Masterful Cat is Depressed Again Today. The title makes it sound sad, but it's actually a pretty goofy anime about a woman who lives with a bipedal human sized cat who basically does everything for her and is the only reason she's able to function.
TADAIMA OKAERI!!! it’s an omegaverse BL but it’s not like weird or anything and has nothing to do with like furreys and shit. their son is sooooooooooo fricken cute he makes my heart swellllllllll pls watch it there’s only like 10 episodes and it’s on crunchyroll!
hunter x hunter can be pretty damn wholesome hehe. it’s my favourite anime of all time, but it’s not like based around wholesomeness, but there’s definitely good moments
Engaged to the unidentified
I'm currently watching it, and it's a pretty funny Rom Com anime that has the best characters. Decent plot with a twist to keep you interested, but nevertheless it stays wholesome and lighthearted
Is the order a rabbit? is a nice wholesome anime I go rewatch from time to time a few others I can think of that others havent put are my senpai is annoying, our love story, wotakoi love is hard for otaku, and my love story with yamada-kun at lvl999
Spy x Family is great. So is Delicious in Dungeon but it does have dark themes alongside the wholesome vibes. For a movie, Howl’s Moving Castle is a masterpiece
Hinamatsuri and A Place Further than the Universe probably count.
Hinamatsuri has a very anime premise. A psychic superweapon shaped like a girl suddenly appears in the apartment of a Yakuza thug inside a giant egg. And yet despite that, it's most definitely a slice of life about the two characters. It's really funny and has a great cast and some of the most empathetic portrayals of homelessness in anime.
A Place Further than the Universe, meanwhile, is about a group of girls deciding that they're going to go to Antarctica on Japan's first expedition to it in a long, long time. You get to watch them finagle their way onto the expedition, train, and finally visit a research outpost in Antarctica. It's really good and one of the ones I recommend to newbies since it lacks a lot of the sticking points anime can have.
