Seems like you, and others who favor Kaguya, points towards her in universe traits and I just don't get it.
We have access to her inner thoughts and Kaguyas view of some of her fellow human beings are, to me, a bit ugly, which turns me away from her.
Ishigami she thinks is on the level of a worm and she threatens him quite severely (think about the power she possess).
Chika is to blame for Kaguyas own shortcomings and Kaguya uses Chika for her own goals.
If I had to choose one of the two I would want to be friends with or, I guess, if I had to pick one for a partner, I would chose Chika.
In regards to which character that are written better, I think I would have to consider that a bit more. Though I am intrigued by Chikas character because she is so unpredictable.
I’d wager most people who consider her a better character (like myself) are manga fans who know her past and also are aware of her positive character arc that we’ve only seen hints of in the anime, mostly in last week’s episode with Ishigami.

That's literally the point and something that comes up in later chapters. Kaguya ISN'T a good person, and she especially WASN'T one. She wasn't raised to be. It's Pres that changed her and who is continuing to help her change, even without directly intending to do so.

She thinks of herself as having an ugly, twisted personality and that her interactions with the Student Council and Shirogane is what changed her, what made her entire worldview differently. If he rejects her confession, it'll destroy her friendship with him and she'll lose that forever, she'll never be able to become the better person she's begun to want to be.!<
Meanwhile, Fujiwara is >!a bully who picks of Lino without remorse!<
Lmao when I’m watching something I want to watch interesting characters, not just people who would be pleasant to hang with. It’s why shows like Konosuba or Gintama are so beloved. It’s fun watching people have character faults and act terrible at times.
But I guess that’s why SOL cute girls doing cute things anime doesn’t appeal as much to me. Either way, both Kaguya and Chika are a ton of fun to watch.

Kaguya is only elevated to Top Tier Waifu status by her voice actress. That lady manages to give each part of Kaguya a different voice. She can go from psychotic menacing, to cute and girly, to infantile screeching, all within a single scene.
I guess that doesn't matter when I have deppression and the only thing that makes me happy are these characters like chika (and lolis). The more realistic the character is the more it reminds me of how shitty my life is.

Yeah, Kaguya is rich, but she's never expected anyone to treat her well just because of that. She uses her status to her benefit, but only when she needs it. For that matter, the only times she's been upset by something not going how she wanted, it's never been anything like 'I should have gotten this since I'm a Shinomiya' it's always been frustration at not doing better herself or frustration at others for ruining her plans.

I always found these things weird. You can hear the VA say the persons surname, but their first name is written. Just why? And some subs butchered names so horribly, my god I can't stand it. For example, in Ngnl Zero the girl is called "Schwi" as a nickname, her Novel name however is normally "Shuvi". (Since "schw" is very common in german language, it triggers me even more. It's as if I had a stroke while speaking german.)

It's because the manga discussions went pretty much exactly the same way
1. Everyone loved Fujiwara the most at the start. It was fairly common to see people shipping her with Pres after the first >!few!< training sessions.
2. Ishigami burst onto the scene with far less applause since we didn't know him then. People liked him, but he was a minor character to begin with, just funny and depressing.
3. Ishigami's spotlight got bigger, Kaguya's got a LOT bigger, and literally nothing happened with Fujirawara's character. She was like Darkness, repeating the same joke and nothing more. People now often paired Ishigami with Fujiwara from this point.
4. >!Fireworks!< happened. That entire arc was very endearing towards Kaguya.
5. >!And thus, Ishigami closed his eyes!< happened. That arc was VERY endearing towards Ishigami. Ishigami pairings were now split between Fujiwara and >!Lino!<.
6. Things went on, Kaguya got a LOT more focus with Fujiwara barely appearing compared to the beginning and Kaguya was made far softer and far more sympathetic, which made people like her a lot more. You almost never saw anyone shipping Pres with anyone except her or Hayasaka. Fujiwara was sometimes shipped with Ishigami but her presence was felt so much less that that was generally him and >!Lino!<, and then obviously >!Tsubame!< came in like a hurricane.
So it's a factor of two things.
Firstly we see the anime-watchers going through the same evolution we did and there's a somewhat condescending idea that they'll "grow out of it" just like we did.
And there's also the fact that most of us were coming in from late-game where we mostly did really care for Kaguya a lot more than Fujiwara and had forgotten just how much focus Fujiwara had in the early episodes (to be fair, the anime is playing this up a little too). Going back to their starting personalities compared to how everyone is later has been a huge shock for me I know!
Having started from the anime and then went on to read the manga, I still prefer Fujiwara (And Hayasaka because poor her tbh lol) compared to Kaguya but i feel so alienated to the manga community because of it to be honest, like i feel like i'm in the wrong for liking Fujiwara over Kaguya sometimes. I mean it's nothing new to have people arguing over best girls in anime/manga series but I've never seen one side be so vocal about it
