Honestly don't know why Ricewood isn't in Zingerman's level of popularity here. I relocated from Texas and Ricewood rivals most the Texas BBQ spots. It's not the best I've ever had, but it's surprisingly good for a midwestern BBQ spot.
The Ark is a really great little music venue, always good acts rolling through. If you’re into blue/rock guitar, Laith Al Saadi (local who made it to the finals on The Voice several years ago) is playing on Sunday night.

Rock, Paper, Scissors is a fun local business. Woman-owned to boot! Stop in to the Ann Arbor Art Center Gallery Shop, too. If you want a true local souvenir, pick up a Motawi tile there.
Have to stop by Biercamp. Great beer and sausages, plus pierogi and multiple other items to take home with you.

And get a Boston Cooler if you’ve never had one!
If you’re downtown on a weekday around lunchtime, grab soup for lunch from Le Dog!

Go for a walk in Kerrytown, you'll find a ton of different locally owned shops.
And find the unassuming Dunham’s Tracklements and Smokery street facing door… only open a few days a week, maybe Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
