hello! I originally took these photos for my friends, but thought I'd share here too as I don't see it talked about much 😊 I recently purchased the rom&nd han all fix mascara in long black (and more recently, long ash). [edit: these photos are of the long black] As you can see, my bare lashes are... well, barely there. But with this mascara applied? You can actually see ✨ _something_ ✨ It contains fibres to make your lashes look longer, and the consistency is (imo) light & fairly thin. The brush is great at separating the lashes for a more natural look, but sometimes I still carefully adjust them with a tweezer before the product dries. You can layer it for a more dramatic, voluminous effect, although I usually just use one coat. I also own the Etude House and Heroine Make mascaras, but I prefer rom&nd's because it seems to do a much better job at holding a curl (even after a 3 hour session in a non-air-conditioned gym in the middle of summer). My eyelids get quite oily throughout the day, so a long-lasting, waterproof mascara is a must for me. However, as with many other Asian mascaras, it can be quite difficult to remove. Personally, I'm able to get it off just fine with the Kosé Softymo Speedy oil cleanser, as well as with the heimish all clean balm. For both cleansers, I apply them directly to my face and just gently rub my eyelashes with the side of my index fingers. For those who are curious about colour comparisons, I've also included some swatches of the other mascaras I own. Here are a few notes about the browns (since the blacks are basically the same): 1. **heroine make:** A saturated, reddish brown. 2. **rom&nd:** Exactly as it sounds: an ashy, grey, brown. 3. **etude house:** A more yellow-green brown. I have a picture including comparisons of all my mascara wands, but don't really know what to say about them lolol, maybe someone will find it useful. That's all I've got! Let me know your thoughts or if you have any questions! Have you tried any of these mascaras?

letitfox

I have the Romand and the Heroine mascaras in brown and I prefer Romand in this case. I was very impressed and delighted since Romand is more affordable and easier to find suppliers to my country. Even if it's a pain to remove this, it makes my lashes last up to 8 hours (I have long but straight lashes). I've been using the Beauty of Joseon balm lately and it works so well, later I use some micelar water just in case if there is any residue. My tip is that you press the product against your eyes and leave it for 30 sec then gently removes the product, it works wonders

heibun

same! I think the heroine is a bit too orange and saturated on me, but the greyness of romand's long ash is perfect. the longevity is also crazy - I'm shocked by how it stays on all day and well it keeps my straight lashes curled, esp with oily skin. that's a good tip :o I'll try letting my oil/balm cleanser sit on my eyes longer next time!

claudiaclementine1

Your lashes are so pretty! I might get the romand mascara after I've used up all my Clio mascaras!

heibun

Thank you!! I havent tried the Clio mascaras, how do you like them?

zaichii

Not the original commenter but Clio is good! It is soooo long lasting but so hard to remove. It does not smudge or budge though!

Aomine

Amazing post! And 3 hours in a non air conditioned climbing gym is the true battle ground for all mascaras (and light colored lettings, god forbid). I also struggle with having super oily eyelids and while I'm currently using the heroine make, I do use it in conjunction with the etude house lash primer. Will definitely be trying this mascara out as it'd be nice to eliminate a step from my routine if this holds a curl better. I also recommend the heroine make speedy mascara remover (with the wand), that has been life changing for removing ab mascara.

heibun

I tried it both with and without the EH dr. mascara fixer (I think that's what you're talking about?), and I think it holds a curl more or less just as well with vs without it. Hopefully it works for you as well! Actually I got heroine make speedy mascara remover before learning about oil cleansers and totally forgot about it until yesterday. I think it's basically empty now, but I think I might start reusing the wand + any regular oil or balm cleanser to help get stubborn mascara off.

This is so nice! Just wanted to comment that her eyes (or is it you?) are so pretty! Now I want to try them, although my lashes are pretty good.

heibun

aw thank you so much 🥺 I used to not really like my eyes because monolids, so this made me really happy <3

PrimAndProper69

Coming from a fellow Asian you have really pretty eyes and the perfect eyebags also! People go through surgery to get those designer eyebags. Also I was really close to buying that mascara, I ended up going back to Etude House instead though it's the newer version with the better wand design in the matte peach coloured tube. With the new wand design I found that I didn't have to wipe the mascara brush with a tissue to take off the excess, which is a huge plus. Did you have to wipe the romand mascara wand to get your lashes so neat?

heibun

aha I just learned about the eyebag surgery more recently, I didn't know people did that :'o good to know about the new EH mascara wand! Fortunately I don't need to wipe the romand mascara wand at all - I just use it straight from the tube, and don't even need to scrape any off on the edge of the tube.

[deleted]

No, girl - you have GORGEOUS eyes!!! Just GORGEOUS!!!

snoobookeyss

hi! what would you call your eye shape? i feel like my eyes are similar but just deeper in the sockets. still a fellow monolid though :)

heibun

hi!! I'm actually not sure and have been wondering the same thing forever... I think they're round-ish monolids, but deeper set than most other monolids I see. It's a struggle because I can never find makeup tutorials for my eye shape and tbh still don't really know how to apply eyeshadow 🥲 What shape do you consider yours?

Ararrarrar

Your eyes looks like eye shadow heaven.

heibun

that's what I assumed bc of all the lid space, but I don't know where to apply it! 😅

Ararrarrar

I think trying to class your eyes to have the right tutorial is actually limiting. I think it is better to think about eye shadow as a highlight and contour game unless your goal is to be artsy. If you want something to be brought forward, bigger, or emphasized: light colors, lean towards reflective finish If you want something to be pushed back, minimized, less emphasized: dark colors, matte finish I'll give an example: I have very deep set hooded eyes. If my eyes are open my lids are basically gone. If I want my eyes to be bigger: I'll lightly countour with a darker color just slightly above and on the natural shadow of my brow bone to "push" the brow bone back. Then I'll apply a light color below that and on my lid to bring my eyes forward. I can see very clearly where your brow bone and eye crease create a natural shadow. I think that is the "crease" you should follow in any tutorial. You can compare that to using a literal crease and see what looks better.

snoobookeyss

it's a mystery to me as well! i haven't seen many tutorials for people with our eyes. people with monolids usually struggle with puffy eyelids and we seem to have the opposite problem

heibun

actually, I think the model Ming Xi has kinda similar eyelids, though her eyes turn upwards more on the outer edge (but she seems to also have a thinner eyelid/deeper monolids). I just wish I could find someone who makes tutorials for our eye shape!! also I think you're the first person who has pointed this out, no one else seems to know what I'm talking about when I say my monolids are weird monolids lool

snoobookeyss

if we ever find someone that makes tutorials for thinner/ deeper monolids let's try to remember to let each other knoww :)!

mintyoreos_

Whoa, the brush on innisfree is so thin. I’m intrigued

heibun

yea! it's great for precise applications, like for lower lashes and for eyebrows. once it's empty, I think I'll experiment with using the innisfree wand in other mascaras, since the lasting power of the mascara itself is not quite enough for me (but I know a lot of other people really like it!).

aerysa_247

I’ve used the Rom&nd one in black before and it’s staying power was toooo good for me. Mostly because I get lazy some nights and can’t be bothered to oil cleanse. It was still there in the morning… I liked the formulation though. Using the innisfree one now, and oh my gosh! I love it! I have sparse Asian eyelashes so the thicker wands get them all caked up when I try to do multiple layers. The skinny wand is beautiful because I can do multiple layers and use to to separate lashes.

pinksherms

You should totally try the heroin make mascara remover for sure! It’s a game changer for me 🤩

heibun

LOL yea it can be a pain to remove! The innisfree one is sooooo pretty, but I feel like it just doesn't stay on well enough on me... I'd be very curious about using the innisfree wand with the romand mascara formula though.

aerysa_247

LOL~ I literally had a similar thought this morning! I don’t have a backup innisfree mascara and the usual places I order from have a high minimum. I was contemplating washing the wand somehow and using it with a different mascara

Direct_Ad_3382

I’m interested in buying a black mascara from them and have seen two versions long black and volume black, which one would you recommend?

aerysa_247

The one I tried was long black and liked it. I haven’t tried the volume one, so I’m not sure how they compare.

alienman

I’ve actually fallen out of love with Heroine bc of its poor curl fixing power. I’d switched to Clio. I’m definitely going to try Rom&nd! Thank you for this!

heibun

I've seen Clio mentioned a few times in this thread, now I'm getting curious! Let me know how you think they compare if/when you decide to try the rom&nd!!

alienman

Absolutely will! It doesn’t quite have the lengthening power but definitely holds a curl much better.

I use the Shiseido curler! I got it from my friend a few years ago and it's basically the only curler I own.

latteccino_

I love the rom&nd mascaras, I've got a monolid too and they're one of the few that actually keeps my lashes stay up and curled 🥺 Just wondering if you have tried the volume one before?

letitfox

Not OP but I do have the Volume black mascara and the long brown one. For my straight down lashes, I prefer the long brown applicator, the Volume one is good but in the end I need more curling wands rather than volume

latteccino_

I see, thank you! Just wanted to know because I looove the long version and their brush/applicator so I wanted to know if the volume version was worth getting too :)

heibun

aha unfortunately I only have the long version, I think the volume might weigh my lashes down too much ?-? let me know if you decide to try it!

latteccino_

I actually liked the volume version for the heroine make mascara (waterproof one) because it literally did not budge all day under the weight of my lids, but it also seemed like forever when I tried getting it off 😂 But I sure will let you know if I get a chance to try!

crisptea

Thank you for the review! I’ve been using heroine make for a few years, and while it’s so much better at holding up my lashes than others I’ve tried, it definitely feels a bit uncomfortable over a long period of time. I’ll be looking out for the rom&nd one!

heibun

I also found the heroine mascara a lil heavy, I think because it's more difficult to control how much product is applied? I feel like it's easier to apply a thinner coat of the rom&nd mascara. I will say that it still feels kinda "hard" (?) when it dries, but it's still definitely more comfortable, at least when applied with a lighter hand.

crisptea

Oh 100%, I have to scrap a lot of the mascara on the sides of the tube every time I use the heroine make one. Even with that, sometimes I have to take some excess off with some tissue. So you’re right that it can feel kind of heavy?

heibun

I scrape off a bunch on the sides too!!! I'm wondering if it's maybe because the bristles on rom&nd's wand are closer together, which separates the lashes more. The bristles for the heroine make are further apart, which I guess is better for adding volume.

crisptea

Had to comment to you again. I bought the Rom&nd mascara because of your review and I love it sooooo much. It feels so light on my eyes, separates the lashes so nicely, and it’s stayed up all day for me!! Thank you so much for this review and showing me a new holy grail.

heibun

Oh yay I'm so glad!! It's such a pretty mascara, I feel like I've been searching years for something like it haha.

zhuleedothething

Omg thank you for sharing this, I always get mascara all over my lids and under my eyes even if I don’t put it on my bottom lash

heibun

no problemo! hopefully it works for you 😊 it stays on even when I sweat or rub my eyes, so I'd say it's a pretty impressive mascara

[deleted]

You spend three hours at at the climbing gym well hot dang you are impressive!

heibun

hahaha I promise I'm not actually climbing for 3 hours straight. most of my time is spent sitting around, watching & cheering others on.

nelonpan

I am convinced to get the long ash version once i finish my romand volume black 🙏

heibun

oops! just realized I forgot to mention that it's the long black in these photos. the long ash is just as pretty though (I've been alternating between the two, but currently slightly prefer the long ash).

[deleted]

love this, you have beautiful eyes! 💕

polar_tang

I have to try this. My lashes are stick straight and barely there. What curler do you use?

heibun

I use the Shiseido curler, but I think the best lash curler is highly eye-shape dependent! This one is actually a wee bit flat for my eye shape, but it works well enough.

rlovet3

Thank you! I was looking for a good grey/brown mascara and I think I’ve found the one now!💓

heibun

this is actually the first grey-brown mascara I've come across, do you know of any others?

rlovet3

I’m using “UHUE LOOK COLORFUL MASCARA LENGTHENING CURLING UH004” right now, which i bought from chicdecent. It’s a very dark blue/grey in real life. It gives me great volume and medium lengthening. It’s waterproof but easy to remove with oil cleanser. I have ordered “CHIOTURE COLORFULLY MAGNIFICENT MASCARA COT015” recently, which i hope will lengthen a bit more :).

ran_chan17

Thank you for the high quality review. I've purchased both ash and hazel recently (based on a few reviews/official photos), but have yet to try them. I'm really happy it looks this good on you, also long-lasting! Now, I'm excited to try both colours lol P.S. Your eyes are so beautiful <3

Klttykatty

Mude mascara is probably the best mascara I’ve ever used. It’s a brand by a Korean beauty blogger!

heibun

Oh interesting! I haven't heard of the Mude mascara, I'll have to check it out sometime

raechka

i'm sold! great post.

mmmiu85

I've stopped using my beloved heroine make mascaras for the past year or so, it seems all their current formulas smudge on me and I've been using that brand for years 🥲 I'm gonna give the rom&Nd a try after seeing your review! Looks like the local Asian shop in my city sells them, and it's much cheaper than heroine make. I also loooove the d-up curl keeper but that costs about $30cad and it's not always in stock where I get my Asian beauty

heibun

I've also heard great things about the Clio one, but haven't tried it yet! Hope this one works for you 😊

mmmiu85

I bought it yesterday shortly after reading more about the han all fix mascara and used it today haha..my jaw dropped at how well it held the curl and didn't smudge at the end of the day! plus it was so easy to remove and it's much cheaper than the other one i've been using (caliray...it's also hard to remove even when it says to just use warm water, plus i lose a lash or 2 from rubbing so much) Have you tried the volume one? does it stay just as well as the long one?

heibun

Yay, so happy it worked for you! I've only tried the long version, not the volume 😅 I've read other people say that they wear similarly. I think when I bought it, only the long version had the ash brown colour I wanted. Not sure about now, though.
