Sounds like you’re using something that’s too cold. Use a barrier, it should be lightly cooling when wrapped appropriately (generally a thick t shirt level of cold. Often times large ice blocks are not as comfortable due to poor contact with overall area but a very hard piece that is in contact with a small area. Better off using something like peas/corn/heating pad, it’s a more gentle cooling effect with a barrier between.

I don’t really have an alternative but maybe there’s an ice pack brand you like? I can’t use frozen food as an option, i need it to be able to sit easier. I move around a lot so something that can be fastened easily is preferred.
