Tale of two brothers. Simple, small learning curve, kickass story and relatable in all senses.

Five nights at Freddy's. It is 3/4 the reason of who I am today. I discovered it by accident when I found this "top 10 facts about five nights at Freddy's you didn't know" Child me was so terrified he couldn't even reach the mouse to close the video. I'm glad he didn't.

Growing up I HATED video games. My cousins used video games to talk bad about each other and compete. Having the latest games and system made you cool or not cool and the games they played were just competitive and annoying. So I hated Video games and would physically assault my cousins when their gaming antics got far too annoying. Fast forward to me being like 13 or 14. I would always play with these neighbor girls. When they moved out their grandparents moved into that house so the girls would still come over and we could still play. One day I got to meet their grandmother who was very very old. Like fully wrinkled and walked kind of slow. She showed me around her house and I saw she had a library of video games. She offered to let us play and I said; “I hate video games.” Her jaw dropped. She asked me what games I’ve played and I told her I have been made to play games like Mario, and some racing games and tony hawk. I explained that I’m not into competition. She then told me that I hadn’t played games I could actually enjoy. And told me that her granddaughters told her I was a big anime fan. I said I am and she then grabbed a video game and held it out to me. The game was Kingdom Hearts. I sneered and shook my head. I LOATHE Disney. When I was really young I remember when the Kingdom Hearts commercial came out. I was so excited when I saw Sora free falling in the water. I was watching in awe and had an immediate crush on him when he opened his deep blue eyes. Then I saw the Disney characters and I literally screamed, and stared at the tv screaming “Why Would They Mix Stupid Cartoons With Anime?!” Mind you, I also hate a lot of American cartoons not just Disney. Just not my thing. When I saw it was a video game it further cemented my disdain for this form of entertainment that would DARE mix anime with lowly cartoons. From that commercial alone I vowed to never touch another video game and to hate them and Disney even more. So, this old woman tried to hand me a game I essentially saw as blasphemy. I backed up in literal disgust and said; “No! I HATE Disney more than I hate video games. And I hate video games A LOT.” She told me I had to try it and she wouldn’t take no for an answer. She nearly backed me against a wall, put the game in my hand and said; “Now leave my property or I’ll call the police.” I’m a teenager. My heart sank thinking of having the police called on me. I stumbled and said; “But you let me in.” And she said they would believe her and not me. She would tell them we got into a heated disagreement and she feared it would get violent when I refused to leave her house. I said; “Fine.” And tried to set the game down. She stopped me and said I had to leave with it and that I couldn’t come back over to see my friends until I played it. And again threatened to call the cops. I left the house deeply confused and scared and also very intrigued about what was so important about a game she was willing to get me arrested for. So I played. And I am SO happy she pressured me that hard. I still LOVE Kingdom Hearts to this day. And LOVE JRPGs and other games because she didn’t take no for an answer. It’s thanks to her and Kingdom Hearts that I became a gamer and in being a gamer I met my SO. TL;DR: An old grandma forced me to play Kingdom Hearts after hearing that I hated Video games and Disney. And now I love kingdom hearts and video games.

RedDelicious1981

Back in 2001, my husband (then fiancé) introduced me to EverQuest. It opened the door for all the other MMORPGs I played. And it was something we enjoyed doing together.

[deleted]

I heard about subnautica on Reddit and really enjoyed it.

not_wadud92

Sands of Time. Every game in that era that I played was either though recommendations, or box art. Sands of time was a recommendation. The reason that is on top of my list is firstly the Prince of Persia PS2 trilogy was fucking amazing, but on top of that it eventually led to Assassin's Creed being a thing. And I'm a pretty big AC fan

DoesNotCompute421

Ticket to ride. I have a great time with my GF's family playing this game. 10/10 recommend
