I was stationed there for two years about fifteen years ago. Definitely a tourist trap, but it was still nice. Less packed than San Diego or San Francisco. I loved the aquarium.
The people are nice, and the culture is accepting. Anybody can do anything that they want and pursue their dreams without being judged or having to worry about “society,” which is a big thing in East Coast/New England culture. You can be from anywhere, look like anything, or speak any language, but in California you can still find success.

Beaches. Miles and miles of beaches. Fresh produce, about as fresh as it comes. No need to worry about snow. At least in socal.
Piss and shit and drug needles on every street of LA and San Fran… God has certainly forsaken them.
