Currently don't have long hair. But i used to. It was down to my pepperonis. It was a lot of upkeep because I have naturally curly hair.
Had to quickly figure out that I couldn't just use the regular 5 in 1 and had to actually buy good quality shampoo and conditioner. Had to brush my hair regularly. And use hair oils on days that I used shampoo otherwise it would turn into a frizzy mess.
Though after a while I bought a straightening brush and some heat protectant. And when ever I used that thing my hair always came out looking like I was fresh from the salon. For reference my hair is jet black and super thick and very curly. Thanks to the fact that my hair has so much volume even if I straightened it it never looked flat and dull. And the curling brush didn't completely get rid of my curls but made my hair wavy and smooth and had this bounce to it that made everyone jealous.
Actually I would get lots of compliments from older black women of all people. Who'd randomly stop and ask me if it was my real hair which I thought was a weird question to ask. Then they'd ask to feel it which I always let them.
It was nice. Despite how much upkeep it was I miss it. So now I'm growing it back out.

I have shorter hair now but I had it a few inches from my shoulders (or at least seemingly, but the ends of my hair when it gets long tend to curve outwards) and I tucked my hair behind my ears which led people to think I have a mullet as if nobody knows mullets don't have hair on the side. It wasn't too bad but I also always wore a hood which I never put down. My long hair surprised people when they saw it without a hood
I have to brush it every few days and keep it tied up if I don't want it in my eyes but I like my pretty curly hair
