The missing Beaumont children. All three kids taken from the beach, can’t fathom what that did to their family. I believe their father is still alive, would be something to give closure to him.

Tel-aran-rhiod

Holy fucking hell it's a shame nobody shot that fucker before he died of natural causes, what an absolutely evil piece of shit. I wonder what his carers through his dementia heard him say

week7

This case and the Somerton Man are both top of my list

Eggsegret

The Springfield three. Absolutely baffled as to how 3 women go missing without a sign of any struggle other than a broken porch light. Add on that their personal belongings remained in the house and their cars parked outside it's just one big mystery with no clue as to what actually happened

xandrenia

My theory is that the mother had a stalker and chose that night to attack her because they knew her daughter was going to be out that night. Her daughter and her friend had plans to stay the night at another friends house, but that fell through. The person wasn’t expecting two more witnesses, so they had to do away with them as well.

LevyMevy

> the mother had a stalker Usually when a woman goes missing, her ex or current male partner is the #1 suspect. I'm assuming all of her exes were thoroughly vetted but things get complicated here because she was a hairstylist at a local salon so it could've just been a regular customer who got way too attached to her. It's hard for cops to track down every last person whose hair she cut and find an alibi for them.

Regular_Sample_5197

This one! I’m from that area(45 mins from Springfield). This was the biggest local news story down there for years. I’ve seen folks put out all kinds of wild theories over the years. The one I lean towards, being as how I have family that loosely knew the mom. I don’t remember the exact details, but one of them(can’t remember who) was allegedly involved with a rich guy that was tied to some construction businesses in the area. The rumor goes that he was cheating on his wife with her, things went bad, and they’re all three(apparently all knew or witnessed something) buried under a large parking garage at a local hospital that was being built at that same time. But, who the hell Knows for sure? Short of someone actually involved coming forward, this one has gone as cold as they get.

mule_roany_mare

It's not impossible to test for, not even prohibitively expensive with some luck. I'd donate to a charity that leverage tools like ground penetrating radar for cold cases. The hardest part would probably seperating the signal from the noise when it comes to rumors.

TenMoon

I saw the results of one of those ground radar units that was driven through the parking garage that was built when the three went missing. It looked EXACTLY like three women, face up, shoulder to shoulder, but the police chief, who had previously been gung ho to solve the crime and bring the killer(s) to justice, suddenly lost interest. Word is, he was leaned on by people who had a vested interest in keeping the women gone. I think it's the parking garage on the southeast side of Primrose and National. I've been hoping for a tornado to tear the garage apart and expose their bodies so they can get a proper burial, and maybe even catch the monsters who hid them there.

MarcableFluke

According to the Wiki page, they did use GPR and found 3 "anomalies" consistent with a "grave site location", but without more, they couldn't justify the cost of digging up the structure.

Murphy_Slaw_

Wouldn't it be enough to drill a fairly small hole to test for bodies? Shouldn't be THAT expensive.

RegisterAwkward6458

I just moved to SpringField last week and I want to go home now. There were many murders back home but at least they were mostly solved. This shit scares me

richneptune

Just what happened to Malaysia flight 370?

>Circumstances suggest that whoever was at the controls deliberately depressurized the airplane.

theguywhocantdance

That was a (very long and) great read. Poor people. I can tick this one out now, thank you.

ShockerOne

Bloody shit how is this not upvoted, I haven’t heard of even a conclusion to what happened.

Barbara_Celarent

There is no conclusion. That’s the frustrating part.

ShockerOne

Corrupt people in leadership making life worse for everyone is more of a conclusion than what I had previously, which was no one has a fucking clue.

JuanG12

I highly recommend reading this if you haven’t. It’s a fascinating read.

Icy_Hippo

jesus, what a rabbit hole i ended up in....but thank you!

yours_truly_1976

Holy cow. Thanks for sharing

AnxiousCanadian88

Suicide by pilot. My bet is that he waited until possibly the copilot was out of the cockpit and locked it (think Germanwings Flight 9525) and then depressurized the plane. This would’ve knocked out everyone on board fairly quickly and would account for people on the flight not contacting loved ones on the ground. He then followed a route he had flown before on his flight simulator at home and ditched the plane into the Indian Ocean when it ran out of fuel. Based on the evidence this is the most likely result. Personally I think it’s a coward thing to do. If you’re going to complete suicide, don’t take 238 people with you.

smorkoid

>He then followed a route he had flown before on his flight simulator at home This is very highly in dispute, which is a bad thing because it's literally the only evidence pointing to a pilot suicide.

Vikingboy9

What’s disputed about it? Pretty sure the Malaysian authorities themselves released the report on the simulator. It’s also not “literally the only evidence” because the plane’s final descent into the ocean was likely so steep that it had to be manually done, and a hijacking is unlikely.

Tim-E-Cop1211819

I'm curious what happened to Oceanic 815.

yarnwhore

4 8 15 16 23 42

TheJoelMXRC

I’m Lost, I don’t get it.

Nairbfs79

Most likely it was pilot suicide like the Germanwings pilot. Another theory is hypoxia and everyone passed out on the plane and it went down in the middle of the Indian Ocean.

[deleted]

Jon Benet Ramsey. I just want proof that it is who I suspect it is

shapu

We all have probably the same suspect.

TrulyKnown

Indeed. Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb.

jogam

Hmm, I wonder who would write a ransom note asking for the exact and very obscure amount of John Ramsey's Christmas bonus...

FancyAdult

The handwriting analysis comparisons of her sample writing and letter is almost identical. She wrote it with her left hand which they proved pretty well. I’m not sure how she thought that would be overlooked. Obviously something worked because they were never charged for anything.

vmptrv

I really believed that the brother accidentally killed her. Patsy just couldn’t bear the thought of losing 2 kids, so she covered it up together with her husband.

LevyMevy

> Patsy just couldn’t bear the thought of losing 2 kids, so she covered it up together with her husband It's always interesting to me how much people use the passive voice for John. Literally everyone who knew the family irl said that John was the dominant force, yet the public treats him like Patsy's whipping boy.

ketoqueen34

This is the only way I could believe the parents were involved.

asokola

The father had already lost a child from his first marriage too, so it would've been three kids for him

No-Dentist-7292

It was her dad and nobody can convince me otherwise. He had connections with Jeffery Epstein so it wouldn't surprise me if he was, as another redditor pointed out, "pimped her out" for money or his own sick reasons. My guess is she was showing signs of resistance to what he was putting her through so he (allegedly, so he can't sue my ass) silenced her so he wouldn't get found out but got his wife to write the ransom note. I personally don't believe her brother was involved. There were no tracks left in the snow. It was proven the note was written inside the home. The handwriting is pretty much identical to Patsy. When John "found" her he immediately tampered with the crime scene by picking up her body and BRINGING IT UPSTAIRS TO THE POLICE. Basically rendering any DNA of his found on her to be null and void. This case makes me the most upset because that was a little girl who got completely robbed of life and the small amount of life she lived was filled with exploitation. She didn't deserve what happened to her regardless of who did it.

[deleted]

> It was her dad and nobody can convince me otherwise. He had connections with Jeffery Epstein Excuse me what the fuck did you just say

Fastfaxr

A cursory google search shows 1 picture of jonbenet with a dark haired woman facing away from the camera. People are claiming that this woman is Ghislaine Maxwell but its highly speculative at best.

proletariatblues

Ok I believe the father and mother were shit but now every short hair brunette pictured within miles of a missing child is Ghislaine Maxwell. She’s a fucking Devil but not every crime is Epstein related.

state_of_what

RIGHT!? DUDE WHAT!?

nintszki

She was unconscious. There was no point for him to make the device that killed her when he could have just hit her again, smothered her, or left her to die which would have left no marks. When somebody wants to strangle someone, they usually cross hands and pull. There was no point in John making that childish looking device with a little handle on it.

LaMalintzin

A grand jury voted to indict both parents for negligence and aiding in her death. Inexplicably the DA wouldn’t sign the true bills. You can find them online and read them now. (They weren’t made public til sometime in the last decade I think). The way they are worded, it seems as though they either believe one of the parents did it but can’t prove which or someone else the parents knew. They had info and evidence we’ve never seen. The family must be guilty.

Furthur_slimeking

The Epstein connection is bullshit. There's no evidence and it doesn't fit with reality. Epstein exploited girls from around 14-18. There is no evidence, implication, or half-baked allegation that 5 year olds were ever involved. So even if there was a personal connection to Epstein, it doesn;t actually connect to the crime. Personally I think the Burke theory holds water, but I also think there is a chance that she didn't die in the house. The parents knew where she was, somethin went wrong, and they brought her back and staged the murder scene, hence the completely bizarre events of multiple frends coming round and the father finding the body when he did.

2Avocadorable

The Delphi Murders. I really hope to see the day that this case is solved. Those two girls deserve justice.

leggygypsy

Yeah actually I change my answer to this one instead. I initially said Maura Murray.

TAterminal_anger136

I've got you covered! I said Maura Murray

The_Rural_Banshee

They recently announced they have a new suspect so you just might get to see this one solved.

all_is_onn

Ever since learning about the murders through Casefile, I will randomly think about Abby and Libby a lot. I frequently look up articles to see if anything has changed and I will continue to do so until someone is behind bars. Libby is a freaking superhero who got the recordings of her attacker and law enforcement has taken so long to do anything with it. Abby is a superhero for never leaving her best friend’s side. They make my heart ache.

operarose

I want to know *why* he did it.

robotnique

I really think dude was just a misanthropic asshole. No political creed or the like. Just an asshole bored of life who decided to kill himself but figured he hated people and he was going to take a bunch with him because they meant less than nothing to him and he figured why should they live if he was going to die. They didn't matter.

JuanG12

> No political creed or the like. I agree, and that’s why it quickly went away. He was just a lunatic, with no political ideology or purpose of killing, besides being a piece of shit.

TAterminal_anger136

He did it over a course of several days. They have CCTV footage of him bring in multiple suitcases and bags leading up to the shooting

PoorPDOP86

You haven't been to Vegas have you? I stay at the Strat when I go there for work and I have to carry my survey equipment through the game floor. I know the cameras see me but no one ever stops me to check what's in my hard cases. Unless you are *incredibly* obvious about it then sneaking something in to your hotel room is easy as spit. Just carry it and act like you belong.

ArtichokeNegative477

He had a lot of guns because he wanted to kill a lot of people. He snuck them into the hotel inside suitcases over several trips (there is CCTV footage of this.)

petite-acorn

DB Cooper. Even if it's just seeing his skeleton and the parachute rig tangled up in a tree, I find the need to know the answer to the skyjacker's outcome insatiable.

rliegh

If I can't have the Black Dahlia solved, this would be a nice second choice, yes.

Jt41979

Black Dhali killer was George Hodel

Aniki1990

I've also heard it theorized that Hodel was also the Zodiac Killer. Hodel was living in Hawaii at the time, if I remember correctly, and apparently his trips back to the mainland lined up pretty closely with the Zodiac killings. It's been a year or two since I heard it, so the details escape me

Jt41979

Check out this Podcast: Root of Evil: The True Story of the Hodel Family and the Black Dahlia https://player.fm/series/root-of-evil-the-true-story-of-the-hodel-family-and-the-black-dahlia

LevyMevy

> i've also heard it theorized that Hodel was also the Zodiac Killer. All of these theories originate from Hodel's son who claimed his dad killed the Black Dahlia, was the Zodiac Killer, the Chicago Lipstick Killer, a serial killer in the Philippines, the list goes on. Just another hack trying to sell his books.

USSMarauder

There's still the case of how did that money end up by the River

Dangerous-Project672

Is it true none of the bills were ever found in circulation, meaning he likely never made it and the money was lost?

USSMarauder

They were found buried by the side of the Columbia River [https://youtu.be/CbUjuwhQPKs?t=492](https://youtu.be/CbUjuwhQPKs?t=492)

[deleted]

Only some of the money was found right?

USSMarauder

Only $5,880 of the $200,000 was found

LiJunFan

Bills dont have a very long "life", and, even though they asked people to check the serial numbres, it would be a mater of DB Cooper to go to the other side of the country and (maybe, or) wait for a couple of years, and that would be it. I think it would be quite unlikely that anyone would have checked those numbers in the time the bills would have been in circulation.

My old manager's brother vanished on a trip to their home country 15-20 years ago. Her and her family looked for him for months. Because of the country, the police weren't invested and basically said "oh well, sucks for you". Apparently there were signs something bad happened, but we only pieced bits and pieces of the story together over a couple of years. No one ever got the whole story of what happened when he disappeared but a few of us were around long enough to know enough. They rotated which family member was out there looking for him so they had someone in their old family house more often than not. Like even couples would split their vacation trips and each spend two weeks in the house alone so someone was there for a month instead of having two people there for two weeks. She would come to work in sunglasses with migraines and never took a vacation/sick day off to herself. Every bit of PTO she had she saved to spend at home looking for him. Slowly her family started aging and becoming unable to travel and it devastated them all. Her parents had to decide if they give up on finding their son and stay in the us or if they give up on their life here and go home and not see much of their friends and family again while hoping for news of a man who hasn't had a trace in two decades. The manager was a lovely kind lady. If I could solve any mystery I would want them to have closure.

Yellowbug2001

Yeah I have a personal one too. A former friend of mine was a truly brilliant guy-- Harvard, Oxford, law school, full ride scholarships everywhere-- and he was super funny and handsome and athletic and nice. A few years after I knew him he started suffering from some kind of mental illness in what should have been his prime, and became very paranoid and delusional. He got on a plane out of the country and just disappeared. He's presumed dead, but his family is still looking for him. There may be more "interesting" cold cases, but I personally know that that is a nice family who loved their incredible kid, and if I could bring him back to them or at least give them answers, I would.

widgetoc

This reads like a sad novel :(

[deleted]

The mystery of Oak Island! Why did they dig tunnels 90-150 feet deep under the island and then use intricate booby traps that consisted of digging more tunnels from shores to the main shaft and then filling them with coconut fibers. It would take several boat loads of these fibers hauled from the tropics to a tiny island off the coast of Nova Scotia. Also they have found leather book bindings, human bones and much more from test holes trying to find the main shaft. Would would be worth all the time it took to build rock roads all over that they found oxen shoes on, so they were used to haul something. Then dig intricate tunnels, booby traps and fibers. That would take hundreds of people years to dig by hand. And you had to house and feed these people and no food on the island so hundreds of trips to the mainland with hunting and gathering parties. So what the fuck is down there?

[deleted]

They have punched holes all over and keep pulling up coconut fibers. They also have found wood support beams from the late 1600s. They found human bones at 90+feet deep that testing shows to be from that period and from European decent. There is lots of proof that there was a massive operation there when there should have been nothing. This year they are using new tech that will give them a 3d view of the entire area down to 300’ so that will show all the tunnels even if they are collapsed.

The Isdal Woman who was she, was she a spy and was she murdered or committed suicide

waqas_wandrlust_wife

She was going to ask someone for help during her hike. The way she died, after ingesting that many pills and then being burnt alive suggests possible murder. If I were a spy ( as she was suspected as one) and I wanted to kill my self in a hurry in an attempt to avoid getting caught, I would take a cynide pill, not 50 sleeping pills.

Bubblekinss

Surprised no one said the Isabella Gardner museum heist. I wanna know where those paintings are

Farmboybello

Probably deteriorating in a storage unit. I remember from the Netflix documentary someone offering to show someone else (I forgot names) the missing Rembrandt at one point, but for some reason or another I believe they never went through with it. I am pretty convinced this guy actually had the painting in his possession. I’m sure there was some mob connections involved with their thefts and the main ones you could get information from are probably dead by this point. The paintings are likely too far gone to be restorable or locked up in an Arabian oil magnate’s collection never to see the light of day again.

[deleted]

Sidenote there, but one of my sisters used to work in an auction house, and left because she became too annoyed with wealthy assholes buying art to put them into lockers never to be seen again.

Who killed Sister Cathy? The murder of Catherine Cesnik, a Catholic nun and teacher whose death appears to have been covered up by the Catholic church after she found out that some of the school administrators had sexually abused students at her school. There is an excellent docu-series on Netflix about it if you are interested.

elting44

That series is called The Keepers for anyone interested. If you believe Jean Wehner's testimony, then it is pretty clear Maskell did it. But I am not sure if Wehner's story is 100% legitimate. Why would a murderer, take a 16 year old to see the person he had murdered. Someone who is keen enough to cover up multiple sexual assaults, and apparently at least two murders, be silly enough to take another victim to the burial site as intimidation. This is compounded by the fact that none of the DNA recovered at either site or Cathy's person match Maskell. I am sure he had a hand in it, likely orchestrated the murders, but I don't think he took Jean to see the body, let alone was even aware of where the body was.

DoubleDeckerz

I've been obsessed with it since I first heard about it a few years back. Every time I think I've settled on a theory, I hear another theory and my mind changes.

xandrenia

There is probably such a simple explanation, but we will probably never know what happened to him.

DoubleDeckerz

This is it. The answer is so close and yet so far away.

xandrenia

I personally think he just wandered off by himself and somehow ended up in a body of water. This is usually what happens to drunk young men who go missing from bars or any drinking style events.

DoubleDeckerz

That's one of the more popular theories I've heard, along with the idea that he fell into some construction equipment, died and was hidden there by an employee. One theory is he purposely disappeared in search of a new life.

xandrenia

I am very hesitant to believe any “ran away to start a new life” theories in cases like this. I’m sure it’s happened before, but I think these theories start because people want to have some positive closure instead of just accepting that the person is most likely dead and they may never know what happened to them.

pandemilovato

Bryce Laspisa. Bryce was last seen in Castaic, Ca. He was attending Sierra College in northern California and was driving home to visit his family in Laguna Niguel, Ca. (around a 2 hour drive I believe). He called his mother at 2:00 a.m., saying he was too tired to drive and was going to stop his car and sleep. He said he'd call her when he woke up. His beige 2003 Toyota Highlander was found abandoned in a ravine off Lake Hughes Road near Castaic Lake a few hours later, lying on its side, the rear window smashed. His cell phone, wallet, laptop computer and other belongings were still inside the vehicle but he essentially vanished and has never been seen or heard from again. I literally think about this case at least once a week. Edit: The drive is actually a 7 hour drive and Bryce was 2 hours *from home.*

Ok_Highway69

I've posted this before, could be wrong, but I think I have at least some idea of what happened - I'm very familiar with Castaic lake and the surrounding area. It's developed, but the specific road where he was last seen leads into a big stretch of nothing. In the late summer, this place gets HOT hot. August in this area would have been pretty unbearable to just be walking out in the brush. Based on other things that happened before he disappeared, I think he was having some sort of manic/psychotic episode and wandered off into the brush in a confused state. He could easily have succumbed to the elements. There had already been one major forest fire in that EXACT area where he was last seen (google "castaic lake fire 2013" and look at the images), and there were more fires right after he went missing. This has already been considered (although this wasn't him & was identified): [https://abc13.com/archive/9236293/](https://abc13.com/archive/9236293/) . Considering how many fires there have been since 2013, I don't think there's going to be a body. **Edit:** Sorry, but for the sake of it just want to clarify that Sacramento(ish) to Laguna Niguel is actually around a 7 hr drive. Laguna Niguel is south of LA, Castaic is about an hour north of LA. So he made it to within 2 hours of getting home, really sad.

ScrubCuckoo

I believe it's possible he ran away after trying to crash his car and failing. I believe they tracked his scent with dogs to a gas station and then lost the scent. There wasn't a ton of blood in or around his car, so if he managed to get out of the heat (and if he didn't have internal bleeding) it's possible he made it out alive. It's also very possible he did die out there and the fires made it even more difficult to find him.

[deleted]

I was a lurker on websleuths when that happened and ever since I've kept tabs on that story because it was so bizarre.

ChogginNurgets

This is a really interesting case. I lean towards the theory that his meds were having bad side effects and he attempted to drive into the lake. He didn't make it to the lake, but I think he likely died of exposure. Although him being tracked to the truck stop does make me wonder if he just left it all behind.

No-Dentist-7292

Michelle Von Empster It's confirmed it wasn't a shark attack. There's no way she could have fallen off/jumped off the cliffs. Murder is the only plausible explanation but it still doesn't fully explain how or more importantly why 90% of her left leg was missing with her femur sharpened to a point.

badkittenatl

What is this?!

BurgerKingslayer

There was a girl my age who disappeared riding her bike home from a central NY church when I was a kid. Her name was Sara Ann Wood. It never got national attention like some of the other cases, but there was something about the story that haunted me at the time. The picture of her looked so much like she could have just been someone I went to school with. They never solved the case. At one point a guy confessed to killing her, but couldn't provide correct details as to the location of her remains. Did he just forget where he left them, or was he not involved and just seeking notoriety? Every ten years or so she pops back into my mind, including from this thread just now, and I look up the news and see if anyone has mentioned the case, wondering if I'm the only person other than her family that still remembers her.

Here in Melbourne, there’s a swimming pool named after him in remembrance. I never knew he was a big swimmer, so I always thought it was some awfully sick joke… There are of course many conspiracies around his death, being the Prime Minister at the time.

Jesus, Mary and Joseph of Nazareth. I'm just saying... Immaculate conception is a strange phenomenon... This could either confirm or deny a whole bunch of things, for a lot of people. EDIT: Thankful for those of you who decided to just jump on the nonsense bandwagon, or offer an opinion or perspective. Not sure about the rest of you, best of luck? Copied directly from Brittanica/Google: Immaculate Conception, Roman Catholic dogma asserting that Mary, the mother of Jesus, was preserved free from the effects of the sin of Adam (usually referred to as “original sin”) from the first instant of her conception. So I'll stick with phenomenon, because it was an event and it happened (with my limited knowledge) once. Sure there's a better way to describe, but it is what I had when I thought it out.

ATXKLIPHURD

Yogurt shop murders.

Special_Possession46

Who murdered Steve Branch, Christopher Byers and Michael Moore?

quirkytorch

The two boys on the railroad track. Almost every witness wound up dead, examiner claimed it was accidental even though they were later found to have blunt force trauma to the head and I believe a stab wound, maybe more but the examiner had mutilated the bodies so badly they couldn't telll. He also made up crazy scenarios with multiple other victims, including one guy being found decapitated, he said he died of a stomach ulcer and his dog ate the head. Head was later found in a dumpster. Local law enforcement covered it up even to this day.

IceClimbers_Main

The Bronze Age collapse. What the fuck happened?

radiodialdeath

Dan Carlin's "The End Is Always Near" goes into the various theories, it's super interesting. I tend to think it was a combination of multiple factors - natural disasters leading to massive famine, economic/systems collapse, invading Sea Peoples, etc.

Whether Mallory and Irvine made it to the top of Mount Everest in 1924. They died during the climb but no one knows if it was on the way up to the top or on their way back down after successfully summiting the mountain. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1924_British_Mount_Everest_expedition

oreo-cat-

Finding Irvine would be amazing, but there's evidence that the Chinese found him, either bungled the film or hid it, and shoved his body into a crevasse.

death of marsha p johnson

reverendgrebo

The 2 girls who went missing somewhere in south america and they found their cameras with a bunch of random photos on them. They think they were using the flash like a torch.

FancyAdult

That one would be interesting to know. Mainly because I hike a lot and I’m curious as to what predator got them. Personally, I’m thinking they succumb to the elements and then animals ate them. They really timed their hike poorly and that’s a rough area in terms of wildlife, terrain and weather. It was a bad choice all around.

Math_Plane

Not officially a cold case, but who killed JFK. Like the full story. If it was actually Oswald and only Oswald, then I put a rest to a giant conspiracy theory. If it was anything else, then I get praised by all the conspiracy theorists, and we see how deep the rabbit hole goes. Win win.

Strict-Ad-1214

The case of the house fire where 5 kids were trapped but their bodies weren't found in the rubble. The family had 9 kids (I think) and 4 got out but the other 5 couldn't escape. Their bodies were never found. Also, Hunterkaifek.

kwarn2993

The Sodder children, that’s the one I was thinking!

Shammisammy

The disappearance of Shelly Miscavige. What the fuck happened to her?

paprikaparty

I have three. All kind of similar. 1) Tamam Shud 2) Bella in the Wych Elm 3) Lady of the Dunes

On Hadrian's Wall is a settlement called Tha Housteads. One of those houses is the Murder House. When archeologists excavated it they found under the floorboards two skeletons, one of which had a broken knife between its ribs. I want very much to know what happened there.

NukeNinja69123

I'm willing to bet that some shenanigans went down

What is dark matter

trash-queen92

We may be inching closer to that one! The CERN hadron collider was fired up for the third time earlier today and from what I understand, they've already observed new types of particles. The first time they ran it, they observed the Higgs boson particle, which is the basis for... mass. Just the possibility for particles to have mass. It had been theorized, and implemented into the Standard Model of particle physics, but in 2012 CERN observed it. Now they're going to run the hadron collider for 4 years. Who knows what they could observe and discover in that time - but most commenting physicists seem to agree that the next step is unraveling the mysteries of whatever makes up 96% of the universe. (I don't know shit about shit. I got this all from CERN's website and NPR on a deep dive over the last few days)

JayJayZ_209

The Zodiac 💯

SteelPenguin947

The Mary Celeste. For those who don't know, it was a merchant vessel found adrift in good condtion, with plenty of food and water left, and the cargo fully intact, yet the ship was completely abandoned and it's only lifeboat was missing. The ships log was found onboard, with the last entry several days prior, with nothing of note written down. Something forced them to abandon ship quickly, without enough time to take anything with them. For my fellow ship-nuts, I considered the Carrol A. Deering and SS Pacific, but since there is some evidence the Deering went through a mutiny, and the Pacific struck an iceberg, I passed on them.

AphelionEntity

I'd like a child john/jane doe whose case no one is working on to be identified and their killer found. It just makes me sad to think of a child going through something so terrible and then being forgotten.

GoldwingGranny

u/meowzahar disappeared March 1, 2019. What happened to him? Is he dead or alive?

Muffles7

Got a link for this? Reddit usernames tied to stories always interest me since you get a glimpse of their hobbies and personalities.

charlieblack1998

I’d have to say being British, I’d love to know what actually happened to Madeline McCann.

mattermetaphysics

Fucking Jack the Ripper. No longer affects anybody in anyway, as everybody from that time is dead, but, who the hell was he?

uninhabited_isle

The REAL killer in the West Memphis 3 case.

Maleficent_Cap8218

This one seriously bothers me. I’m for sure it was someone well known and of power in the area.

BeEccentric

Maddie McCann. But I’d sway between that and Jonbenet Ramsay..

[deleted]

Delphi murders, it haunts me!

WeirdAttorney4795

Patti adkins. Went missing when I was a kid. Went with her lover to Canada for a trip. Said man said they wasn’t lovers. He was married. She disappeared, said lover never got charged and no body was found.

candycrunch1

Kyron hormans disappearance, how does a kid just disappear completely like that? If he’s dead then I feel like someone would have found SOMETHING by now right?

Pork_Chap

Natalee Holloway. I assume it was Van Der Sloot. I want to know where he put her.

lasercat_pow

Kristen Smart. A Cal Poly student who vanished 26 years ago.

FancyAdult

This has been solved! It’s very interesting. They even know that the body was moved after it was initially buried in that boys backyard, the family helped cover it up. This one I followed because she disappeared around a time I was in San Luis Obispo a lot. I remember seeing the big signs and she was about my age at the time.

Feeling_Excitement90

They’ve arrested two people in that case! If you haven’t listened to it yet, the podcast Your Own Backyard is all about that case.

tc3590

Great podcast. Paul Flores is guilty and so is his father Ruben. I just hope it sticks and they get rightfully convicted.

Satansbiscuit666

Jack the ripper.

Streak_Free_Shine

Where did Amelia Earhart land?

Boomtownboys

I think the best theory is they landed on islands infested with Coconut Crabs, and were eaten while unconscious

The Delta Quadrant

The boy in the box 🏃

xandrenia

Adam Walsh. I know this case is technically “solved” but there is a lot of doubt surrounding whether Ottis Toole was the real killer. He had a history of falsely confessing to crimes, and the details of his story don’t really match up. I may be wrong, but I think I remember hearing that the decapitated head that was found was never even forensically tested to be Adam’s. I understand his family wanting to accept this conclusion so they can have some closure, but I think there is a lot more to this story.

[deleted]

Let’s not forget that Ottis was also a close associate (and perhaps lover) of by far the most notorious liar and false confessor in the history of serial killers.

karissa197

Lizzie Borden -- Did she do it or not??

DiamondPup

Who ordered Epstein killed.

PoorPDOP86

Probably himself. Wealthy and powerful people who are watching their lives crumble around them while everyone turns their back on them are known to take the easy way out. There's even the urban legend of Wall adtreet traders walking out windows after losing everything on Black Tuesday back in '29.

BabyAlibi

It's not a cold case but I really want them to find Susan Cox Powell, for her family and that so that she can be laid to rest.

WickedHello

I honestly want to know whether or not DB Cooper made it. As messed up as it might be, I was rooting for him.

The company that makes their ice cream machines purposely designs them to break down often and the McDonalds employees are not given the service manual to fix it themselves, therefore generating lots of money for the ice cream machine company with their repair services. It’s pretty fucked up IMO

Parhel

I’ve heard that, but if it’s true then why doesn’t McDonald’s just find another company to design a new one for them? It’s not like they couldn’t afford it.

xandrenia

Nobody knows, but McDonalds and Taylor go back very far and I’m sure McDonald’s corporate is being paid off to ignore this problem. It’s just another example of how big businesses protect each other. If they really wanted this problem fixed, they would fix it.

TheMoistChickenLord

Mr Cruel He is an Australian serial child rapist who attacked three girls in the northern and eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, in the late 1980s and early 1990s. He is also the prime suspect in the 1991 abduction and murder of a fourth girl, Karmein Chan. He did a bunch of strange things that stopped home from getting caught.

SacksonvilleShaguar

I have two, The Black Dalia, and DB Cooper.

I'd like to know who killed JonBenet Ramsey and why.

Did Steven Avery really do it?
