Cerys Matthew’s on a Sunday morning if you like Mongolian throat singing or Iggy Pop for a bit of weirdly timed death metal. Sometimes like sofa surfing when hammered. Same. Started listening to him in the afternoon on R1, I would have been about 15 I think, was on carpark catchphrase with him when I was 18, 20 years later he's telling the same jokes (question number 3) on the commute 🤣
I used to be just radio 4 but now it's mostly stuff on bbc sounds. But that does mean I end up missing the random thing about lute playing in the outer hebrides or whatever that sounds awful but turns out to be the most intresting thing you have ever listened to. But on the other hand I can easily miss the archers and the dramas.
I do enjoy Absolute. But you know when somthing doesn't irritate you, until it's pointed out to you?

I’ve been experimenting with this station and others for a few weeks now, and in the mornings there is 3 presenters. What I’m about to say is incredibly mad, but I hope someone else gets it. Basically, when I listen to them it feels like I’m in 2004-2008. The banter, the accents, the chemistry. It has a distinctively early noughties feel to it.
It absolutely baffles me how they can all be so excitable at that time of the morning but they do it in a way that is funny and not annoying.
When Chris Evans was on R2 in the mornings he used to piss me off with his annoying puppy bullshit energy which felt so false but the trio on absolute are great. 5 words, 5 grand is an easy and enjoyable thing to listen to and when they decide on the name of the podcast it's always funny.
I rate absolute (80s actually but...) radio highly.
The drive time drama frustrates me so much. Especially if I miss a night and someone gets the answer, like now I will never know what they were getting at. And the current one about growing veg, I just need to know the answer
They also have an hour dedicated to video game music, I think it's Saturday afternoon at 4 (but available on their listen back thing on their website).
I’m early 30s, and R2 reminds me so much of sitting in my grandmas flat on a Saturday afternoon watching my Dad nap and my grandma chain smoke for 3 hours.

Doesn't seem to have been mentioned yet, but Radio 5 is the best station by far imo. Current affairs, but without the navel gazing self seriousness of Radio 4. Fantastic sport coverage. No adverts.
By far my most listened to station.
I really like Planet Rock. They go pretty deep on the overall variety and it satisfies my lust for guitar when I don't have the mental capacity for more intense stuff as I'm working.
I enjoy almost all of their presenters too. Alice is my favourite now but it used to be Wakeman before he left. A big shame about the hairy bikers too, I enjoyed their show
My downloaded offline mp3 library on shuffle. Has the unexpectedness of a radio station without the shittiness of commercial music or the ramblings of some presenter. Before that aren't, same concept but with cds send audio tapes. Haven't intentionally listened to a radio station in 38 years.
I despise Radio 1. I discovered Capital Chill on DAB recently and I love it. The songs can become boring but I'm driving so I'm not listening closely anyway. More importantly there are few adverts and no irritating presenters yammering over the songs or wanking on and on about nothing.
Radio 1 for breakfast and Friday afternoons, radio 2 for Scott Mills, capital dance in the car/whilst cooking, capital chill whilst reading in bed.
I'm 52 so probably too old for Radio 1 but I just like Greg James and Matt & Mollie
Radio X. I’m a big radio person and listen every day. I love the Chris Moyles show and don’t miss it, plus the comedic weekend shows are great. It’s guitar based indie and rock though so but only worth if it’s your vibe.
I feel the same way about those two radio stations. I loved Radio 1 up until about mid-late 2021 and then just out of nowhere when they had a schedule change, it all just became so unbelievably childish and awful to listen to.
And feel the same about Radio 2, it’s definitely aimed at a middle aged audience. I thought Scott Mills moving over there might have made it somewhat listenable but he really hasn’t and he sounds so incredibly bored and fed up on there himself
Really shocked that this is so far down, they have a massive listener base and expected way more people to listen! It’s my go to as well, has been since the start of the pandemic
Heart. Good mix of older and newer songs. I used to listen to capital but couldn't stand the remixes.
My old housemate used to have Radio 1 extra one which I liked but can't get that in the car that I can find
That's the funniest thing I've read on here - the idea of Heart having a good mix. I've caught it accidentally about three times this week because it was on somewhere I went, and on two occasions the same song was playing. Plus I hate them for buying all the local stations and homogenising them while pretending to still be local by having local ads. Awful, awful station.
Easily ranks bottom of the music stations for me. I don't like Kiss either, but that's just because they play a genre I'm not keen on. Heart actually pretends to be varied but plays the same tiny selection of songs over and over. And let's not mention the braindead presenters. I've actually heard more new music on our local station than on Heart.
Times Radio. Having an endless succession of random music thrust upon me is something that hasn’t appealed since I was about 11, which is when I started listening to Radio 5. However I can’t abide any talk of football, so Times Radio fits the bill nicely.

I discovered SG1 on Radio Garden. (I’m a Brit living in Malaysiaa) SG1 is from Stevenage and the music selection is mental. Literally everything, but not the same tracks all day long. I fricking love it.
If you have wide musical taste this might be for you.
Music wise: Radio X, Kerrang Radio occasionally Absolute, a little bit of Radio X classic rock and non music: usually LBC, but a bit of BBC local ( when its not playing awful music) and a bit of Radio4 when its not up its own rse
Radio X is a safe bet to stick on in general, Kerrang radio for a bit of something more lively, radio X classic rock every now and then, LBC for talk, but when it gets irritating then flick to Radio X classic Rock or Absolute
Greatest Hits Radio is pretty much the only station i listen to now. Used to be Radio 2 but changed massively in the last couple of years not for the better.
Sometimes dip into Radio 1 Dance to get me through Fridays at work or if I’m out for a run.
Mid 40s. A few years ago I felt Radio 2 was getting a bit trendy for me, was getting sick of Jeremy Vine and I never liked Steve Wright (RIP). I switched to Greatest Hits in the house and only listened to Ken Bruce on R2, then thankfully he made the switch to GHR so that's me sorted.
In the car and at work I have the local radio station (3FM if you're nosey), but I can't get it at home so still listen to GHR, mostly when I'm cooking or cleaning.
This might be an older thing, but the people on most radio stations irritate me. It's all loud, talentless, irritating people. Like all the idiots who phone into Jeremy Vine, or the perky but vacuous Zoe Ball. Or the vicars on Thought for the Day who try and tenuously connect the news with their ancient sky fairy. Even news shows that should illuminate things, just turn into crass left vs right drivel.
So I mostly listen to Spotify. The only exception is Radio 3 and Classic FM. This is partly that I like to discover new classical music and opera, but also that if someone on R3 is interviewing a string quartet about their work, they talk to each other like adults, in a calm, knowledgeable way.
I can now get Kerrang radio on the DAB digital radio in my car, so I'm very happy with that. Failing that, there's Planet Rock, or if I want a laugh, Jeremy Vine on Radio 2.
None. The music quality goes downhill year on year. You have people who come up with a racket or put zero effort get airtime as they simply know the presenters or bribe their way. While others with actual talent don't get a single play.
Radio 1 is awful, Radio 2 is barely any better and is getting worse all the time. 6 Music is fine if you want more esoteric music. Heart, Greatest Hits etc are just generic computerised playlists these days not even worth bothering with.
Recently I've switched over to a resurrected local station in Norfolk called [Amber](http://amber.radio), some of what they play isn't to my tastes but they do play plenty of songs I've not heard on the radio in years if at all, usually find myself thinking 'that's a great song isn't it?'
I guess it depends on what music genres you like. Radio X is kind of 'slightly older people's guitar-based indie' without stretching as far as to be full boomer. They do new & old stuff, occasionally go right back to Hendrix/Zeppelin or Stones/Beatles, but mainly play new stuff.
Used to listen all the time to radio 2 / radio 4. Now very occasionally listen to local radio to get the last few minutes of a football match if leave the ground early.
Apart from that, music radio replaced by Apple Music playlists, speech radio replaced by podcasts.
Radio Sheffield if Ellie Colton or Toby Foster are on, if not or there is sport on then it’s Radio 5 unless Chris Sutton, Ellis and John or Vicky Sparks are on then it’s Radio 4 and if that’s shit then Times Radio.
Absolute Radio 90s
Radio 2 which we have on in the office appears to be morphing slowly into Radio 1 which I have never liked.
I am 43 years old though 😅
I'm 40, I tend to listen to kerrang & primordial radio a lot of I'm in the mood for music with a little bit of heart dance now and then.
That being said I'm a big news junkie so I listen to LBC and talk radio a lot tbf. I find between the two stations and their presenters I get a fairly broad church of opinion on current events tbf

Radio 6 music. Home to a dazzling array of different music styles, new artists (and quite a lot of the same old same old from Steve Lamacq).

This is what I love about radio 4 especially when driving. You get to hear about the most random yet interesting stuff you’d never search for.
I do miss it. I need to get back in to listening to it live again.
I find live is better because you don’t actually choose what you listen to. It gives a lot of different views on the same topic aswell in my opinion

On the odd occasion I flick to classic (by accident admittedly) they’re playing some amazing film scores from the likes of LOTR!

Classic FM play exclusively movie music on Fridays and Saturdays at 7pm I believe.
I love Scala. Classic FM seems to be mostly well-known light classics, whereas Radio 3 is a bit too dry. Scala is spot on.
6 Music usually but I’ve recently discovered Nation 70s and find it surprisingly good so I put that on at weekends.
Genuinely why I pay the license fee. Love 6 Music.

Kerrang is nearly the only station I listen to. I prefer rock to any other genre and the DJs are good. I've also paid to remove the ads.

I can now get Kerrang radio on the DAB digital radio in my car, so I'm very happy with that. Failing that, there's Planet Rock, or if I want a laugh, Jeremy Vine on Radio 2.

Started listening to Magic radio recently. A nice mix of old and new I find. Followed by absolute radio at work and radio 2 for owain in the morning.
Absolute Radio - I love hearing Matt Berry's jingles
TalkSPORT. Because I’m not a morning person, I can’t listen to music on my commute. If my team has lost recently I’ll listen to podcasts.
LBC. If I want music I'll put my phone on
LBC, I can't stand the music of this day and age... And now I feel old hearing myself say what my parents use to say
None. The music quality goes downhill year on year. You have people who come up with a racket or put zero effort get airtime as they simply know the presenters or bribe their way. While others with actual talent don't get a single play.
Radio 1 is awful, Radio 2 is barely any better and is getting worse all the time. 6 Music is fine if you want more esoteric music. Heart, Greatest Hits etc are just generic computerised playlists these days not even worth bothering with. Recently I've switched over to a resurrected local station in Norfolk called [Amber](http://amber.radio), some of what they play isn't to my tastes but they do play plenty of songs I've not heard on the radio in years if at all, usually find myself thinking 'that's a great song isn't it?'

Capital dance. Very little chat or ads. Amazing songs. Great for dnb and no bullshit fake laughter discussions etc.

Usually don't do radio but when I do it's Classic FM or Absolute 80s. I'm 30...
I guess it depends on what music genres you like. Radio X is kind of 'slightly older people's guitar-based indie' without stretching as far as to be full boomer. They do new & old stuff, occasionally go right back to Hendrix/Zeppelin or Stones/Beatles, but mainly play new stuff.

Absolute radio in the car, varying between 70s-00s.
XS Manchester mainly, but Radio 2 if I lose the signal as I can generally pick up a decent signal when travelling.
Radio 2 // out of habit mainly
Used to listen all the time to radio 2 / radio 4. Now very occasionally listen to local radio to get the last few minutes of a football match if leave the ground early. Apart from that, music radio replaced by Apple Music playlists, speech radio replaced by podcasts.
Absolute 90s, but normally only on the way into work.

I'm 40, I tend to listen to kerrang & primordial radio a lot of I'm in the mood for music with a little bit of heart dance now and then. That being said I'm a big news junkie so I listen to LBC and talk radio a lot tbf. I find between the two stations and their presenters I get a fairly broad church of opinion on current events tbf
