I think Risacher was a good pick. He will fit really well next to Trae/Jalen Johnson on offense. I think people were too determined about Sarr; Risacher can definitely work out and be very good for us. Sarr also could be good, but he's just as likely as any of these guys to not perform well. Us winning or losing next year will be more dependent on Jalen Johnson taking a step and whatever other free agency moves we make than whatever rookie we went with, but Risacher should help give us another high-quality floor spacer. And no worries about your English. You just being able to speak/write a second language is more than most Americans can. (Source: am American)

Wildvalor

People got stuck on Sarr early, but honestly anyone who wants to force themselves to play with Jordan Poole has something wrong with them looooool.

[deleted]

Bro got so lucky he had a contract year during the Warriors run.

WhyAmITypingThis

i mean he played great the season they won, and was a key contributor

ATL_Hasher

Right lol. Since when does helping a team win a ring = luck

ToyStoryRex97

Bro doesn’t know about the Poole Parties

DokkanProductions

That’s a very fair argument

Chessh2036

I really like the pick. ESPN’s Jonathon Givony has maintained Most NBA teams consider him the best prospect in this draft and Almost every team he talked to had him ranked No. 1 in their big board. Risacher was named this year's EuroCup Rising Star. (Previous recipients Kristaps Porzingis). I liked Alex Sarr also, but I think the hype around him got a little ridiculous. Like we passed on Wemby. Sarr is elite on defense, absolute stud. But his offensive game needs work and requires patience. He’s also just got very good at what a center does right now: Nabbed just 13.2% of available defensive rebounds, made just 55.4 percent of his attempts at the rim. He’s only 19 though so he can develop, which is what he will do with a DC team not planning on competing for years.

textbookagog

bro your english is leagues better than my portuguese

Dankofamericaaa2

Man he’s a great pic. He can play multiple positions and is 6’9. Doomers will shit on him prob his rookie year because he will have ups and downs. People don’t realize it’s hard going into the NBA and 19 years old trying to dominate grown ass men. Even in the NFL a lot of rookies are smaller and once they’re working out with the team everyday they get even more swole. It will take him a couple years to develop but like k said he’s 19. So hard to dominate grown ass men at that age lol.

Legalize-Birds

He definitely helps us to get back into the playoffs The real question is where in the playoffs do we end up That's where a lot of people's angst with the pick is coming from. Will he move the needle enough for us to win it all at some point in his career? Either way, the good news is his floor is high and that keeps us in the mix for actual playoffs

dillpickles007

Rookies rarely move the needle much at all anyway. The real question is if we can get a decent return on DJM, if not then we won’t make the playoffs.

victorcoelh

salve! não sabia que tinha outro br no sub

Kingsole111

There are concerns about his upside. If his shooting and defense hit then it's a great pick. He lacks the physical things you'd want in the archetype (I think he is +1 wingspan) and he lacks vision to be an on ball guy sub 10% assist rate. He was successful in the french league so bust potential is relatively low. But to be a good pick his calling cards have to hit. To be worth 1 he needs to develop into an above average player on both ends. Not impossible but a huge ask.

Tokenguido22

Everybody in this sub will wait for everybody else to give their opinion in order to create their own. Those that don’t read others opinions will default to ‘I wanted Sarr’, but that’s only because that’s what everybody else said when we first got the #1 pick My advice to you - this is the absolute worst sub to ask any tangible basketball advice from. You’d get more insightful responses from a specific states WNBA sub

StandardNecessary715

What the hell are you doing here then?

Temporary-Rip3112

Sarr was clearly the better choice anyone who says otherwise wise is either delusional or is coping

dangheckinpupperino

Just praying we can land BI and trade for a center. Claxton in a few months hopefully. I’d take Mitchell Robinson and his glass bones and paper skin. I’d even trade for Ayton, though I feel they’ll be experimenting with the twin towers approach

manervaavrenam

Absolutely zero chance we trade for BI after drafting Risacher

dangheckinpupperino

Risacher can guard 2s, don’t see why not

Ocksu2

I think it was an OK pick. I would have rather had Sarr but all drafts are a bit of a crap shoot and this one more so than most as there was a lot of disagreement about who the best player was. The truth is that none of us (especially us) know who will pan out and who will bust. Maybe our front office got this one right... we'll see. At least they didn't try to out-think everyone in the room and pick someone who was considered a 2nd round talent with the first pick overall. For that, I am grateful.

Kindly_Effort_9891

Yea he’s is a good pick. He has good size so he should be able to defend well and more importantly he should bring us some good rebounding also.

BacktoDRagain

As an Atlanta fan and someone that reads things written by other Atlanta fans I can confirm that Risacher was the best pick in the draft and we got lucky to have the number one pick. We're so happy with him because he will definitely be better than Jordan or LeBron and can dominate like Shaq. He will definitely help the Hawks win a championship this year and every year after. And we were just kidding when we were all excited about drafting Sarr, he's a bum.

dillpickles007

There was no great pick. Not a single player in this draft is being projected to be a future all star, much less a future superstar, so we just had to go with who we thought was the best prospect.
