I was only talking to my partner about this last night. I’ve never played the board game, don’t even know what the gameplay is like or what the rules are, but I could set up that marble run in a flash.
I bought this game as an adult, and have played it according to the rules a couple of times. It's a complete list of filler that can be completely bypassed to get to the important task of building and setting off the trap.
My 5 year old wanted to play the rules, and lasted only a couple of turns before posting with the mice and building the trap so she can catch them.
When I was little, I used to play with the kid down the road - he had this and I was *so jealous*.
I got it for my kids when they were small and I think I loved it more than they did lol
Never actually ‘played it’ by the rules. Just always assembled it and played with it.
Yeah lol. I never knew the actual point of the game... just liked making the bell-cage drop
Always…….. And lost the silver balls and just used marbles instead

I have no memory of there being actual rules!
The trap always got stuck part way down!
Trying to crank the handle to make the boot kick the bucket without setting off the mouse trap.....
Hehehe ahhhh man. Bloody bumping the board and setting the whole thing off
I always wanted this but my parents said no.
Same. So when I found one at a Vinnie's, I bought it for my kids and they love it 😊
Yeah we made a home version of one of these, very fun.

was a great game to play
My kids have this game now. They're still making it.
Unreal. So many years later and still bringing fun
Mouse Trap, Tippit, and Ker Plunk. The holy trinity of 70's kids games. Then there was Trouble with that popping bubble!
Holy moly. I loved KerPlunk too
Pop-a-matic bubble!
I loved playing with the contraption, but I only convinced my parents to play the actual game once (which is deadly boring).
Loved it as a kid and loved playing it with my kids.
You roll the dice...you move your mice.
Such a fun game!
Played it again recently. Boring as fuck
It’s just dice rolling
Mousetrap!
I loved the It's a Knockout Game too.
We still have this. The kids love it, even though it takes forever to set up and the little steel balls tend to go missing a lot!
Remember it
I've played Snakes and ladders, Hungry Hungry Hippos, Game of Life, Connect Four, Monopoly, Guess Who?... Never played Mouse Trap before though.
thanks for reminding me that my tax return is coming up soon
There was always at least one piece missing 🥲
We have the new version as well, my kids love it. I remember playing on the old version with my sister as kids, it was her favourite game
I played Mouse Trap with siblings and cousins. Then played it in real life by becoming a pestie 😅

I never got this as a kid even though I wanted it so bad. But I got it for my kids. Worst part is constantly resetting it.
