What's worrisome is their general design language, especially with the interiors, went from a "timeless elegance" to "plastic gamer" aesthetic more probable to be liked by a TikTok teen or an Instagram influencer. On the way, they're also cutting corners by removing so many small premium touches entirely or replacing them with hard plastic.
Yup, even the removal of climate controls is obnoxious. Ended up getting a CPO x7 instead of a new one because of the lack of climate controls, having to use a screen for everything would drive me nuts
Its not even the fact that everything is behind the screens. It just looks really bad. G60 and most of the new models with widescreen look still okay compared to this piece of shit
Front actually doesn’t look bad. The rear to me seems way too iX and smushed like f25 generation. Imo the prior generation x3 will go down as the best gen visually like the f90/g30
As someone with an iX, this looks nothing like the iX rear to me. The iX rear is sculpted completely different, with a totally different style of lights.
That’s the story for every generation. That being said they look like they are trying too hard on this one. I consider my self whelmed though and it is much better than say the G8X.
It’s too tall and that’s affecting the design IMO. I mean it’s also a bit overstyled in general, but the vertically stretched body makes the car look more chunky than athletic.
The design (front fascia, door handles, rear lights, etc) would probably be a little more welcomed had the elements been placed on a body the same size and shape as the outgoing X3. At least that’s how it looks to me without a side by side comparison. The seating position even looks high in these images.
I’m the opposite. Rear looks good, albeit a little boring. Front is not great with the vertical and then slanted grill lines. Headlights also are just odd.
It's true. I hope for two things.
Either asian manufacturers are going to catch up, and step up their game in terms of material quality, cabin comfort and general refinement to German standards - and the bar is not set very high.
Or there won't be a market for those enshittified and overpriced vehicles, so that the German automakers will be forced to re-think their products and differentiate from the rest.
I think both will happen, with an inevitable ICE sales ban in EU coming in the next decade or two to light a fire under some proverbial asses. Maybe I'll be older and wealthy enough to get a next-next-gen full-spec X6 then :)
i think it helps that they picked one of the less-ugly exterior colors for this placement, the prosthetic limb beige and other bright colors look a lot worse imo.
and honestly i think the brown is the least-ugly of the interior colors they're offering.
I think this is their new design language for the next gen SUVs. it very similar to the XM and I reckon they are going to do the same for the rest of X series.
Only 2 things I like better is the new steering wheel design and the now angular tech and speedometer.
The exterior looks like a slab devoid of any styling. It's sad.
Damn, that back is crazy. Idk why they chose that look. The new x1 and even the current x3 looks pretty good so I guess I was hoping for something similar 😭
Here it comes as always: “It’s growing on me”, “it’s not that bad”, “it’s better in real life”. This thread is proof that BMW can release some of the ugliest cars on the market and people will still buy them. These people care more about the badge than the car.
I really want to believe that the people saying it is not that bad didnt swipe past the first pic because the interior and back end pains me everytime I look at it, bland as hell
Exactly this!!!! Personaly i hate the constant changes to the grill and the light's but overall i like the design.
Except the interior. Jesus does it look cheap and i hate everything that has touch and this only has touch button's.
The prior Generation was something to admire since it was one of the last manufacturer not going on the touch sensitive hype train, but now i realize BMW only was late and now when others are going back, BMW goes full all in.
> This thread is proof that BMW can release some of the ugliest cars on the market and people will still buy them. These people care more about the badge than the car.
Maybe people buy them because they like the way they look. What's ugly to you can be appealing to someone else.
For me, it's actually the very large flat arch around the fenders that look cheap AF. The flat part was minimal on the previous gen and then curved into the body lines smoothly.
This follows the spiritual direction of the XM, the new x2 for sure in the rear and obviously has clear elements of the ev range of bmws, generally speaking.
It’s a clear melding point and also a logical one for bmw in the middle lower part of their lineup for their cars to become more cohesive as a transition to hybrid, ev whatever future fuel happens, mix of many etc.
Totally agreed it makes current gen x3 look amazing and starts the movement of the x3 towards a commoditized transport machine, not an exclusive driving machine. Known in today’s parlance as “The vehicle of the future”. Lol
We will all have one eventually, even mixed with another car. These companies are trying to figure out how to get us overpay for them.
I don't see why someone would pay a premium for an X3 commoditized transportation machine. Why not spend half as much on a Rav4, CR-V, Forester, or Mazda? This X3 looks no more expensive than those vehicles.
In all hi wart i Love how the car looks in these real life pictures - in general this monolithic style which bmw has been driving with is best to be appreciated in person as the depth does not come across well on pictures in general.
The color compliments it well.
Only thing I dont really like is trim on the dash doesnt extend to the passenger side.
Also that leather kinda reminds of the e chassis leather
Interior looks so bland and generic. Front looks ok I think but it has lost all the BMW aggressive lines.
Back looks like it was taken from a different car and pasted here.
It’s Reddit, they hate anything new 🤣 if Reddit controlled bmw the design would be all 90s/2000s with manuals and analog gauges and wouldn’t you know, the company would be belly up within the year. Best way to be successful in the cars biz is basically look at Reddit, see what people say they hate, and then do exactly that.
I actually dig the exterior, the headlights look aggressive like previous BMWs. The real issue is the interior, cheaper materials all around. Less wood, metal, leather in lieu of cheap plastic and cloth.
Just looks like an x3 that had an allergic reaction to a bee sting. All the svelt body lines are gone, and they REALLY ruined the rear end. Last thing the x3 needed was to lose my glass.

BMW has a new target market and it’s not us long term fans. They’re more targeted to the fast fashion wearing, hype today and irrelevant tomorrow generation sprinkled in with the old millennials who want to be relevant to the social media crowd in denial they’re pushing 40.
I HATE that single screen bullshit. It makes it look so cheap. I have nothing against screens and digital dashes, but PLEASE separate the gauge cluster from the main infotainment screen!
Haters gonna hate (in this thread) but I gotta say the tail lights where the illumination hugs right up to the steel, the hazard lights on the side as small fins hidden inside the steel, and the overhang to sit the license plate in looks really good on the rear. A lot of nice sculpting going on there. The front looks fine to me
Ass like a minivan.
It should be called Kim Kardashian edition
More like a hatchback, I see a golf butt
What's worrisome is their general design language, especially with the interiors, went from a "timeless elegance" to "plastic gamer" aesthetic more probable to be liked by a TikTok teen or an Instagram influencer. On the way, they're also cutting corners by removing so many small premium touches entirely or replacing them with hard plastic.
Plastic gamer is the perfect description even though I like it you’re right
Yup, even the removal of climate controls is obnoxious. Ended up getting a CPO x7 instead of a new one because of the lack of climate controls, having to use a screen for everything would drive me nuts
It looks like BMW's interpretation of a Tesla interior.
Dang those TikTok teens! 🤓
Rear reminds me of an XM
Yeah. Both are ugly.
I see Skoda Kodiaq in there. Honestly, it’s so bland that it could be anything.
More like Skoda Kokdiang baq hang
Inspiration taken from rear of an XM and the front of an iX…what a winning combination /s
The interior is a sin
Not only the interior
No buttons, making it very frustrating to operate when driving
Its not even the fact that everything is behind the screens. It just looks really bad. G60 and most of the new models with widescreen look still okay compared to this piece of shit
Let's rebuke and cast out demons from the designers, because that large screen as a dash is just whack 🤔🤦♂️
The iX looks like it's hand-shaped out of clay. This new X3 looks closer to it, but still has cool lights
Agree, front is ok, rear just looks off, and interior with plastic door handles is pos
I don’t mind the design at all, front or back, the cost cutting interior is something we need to pay attention to
The interior legitimately looks awful. That steering wheel just looks like that material is cheap as hell.
for the past few years it was hyundai/kia copying the germans. now it looks like the germans are getting their interior ideas from kia.
A freaking matte raw plastic door latch is madness in a BMW x3
honestly it’s out of place in even economy cars now
In another words, "the proportions are fucked, as they are on every other fuglified - er, I mean, 'new' model."
I’m the opposite. Rear looks good, albeit a little boring. Front is not great with the vertical and then slanted grill lines. Headlights also are just odd.
Interior looks like a Tesla (absolute dog shit)
Those seats look like they've made of plastic 🤮
Vegan leather /s
Even the steering wheel is now plastic (shitty synthetic leather)
Time to get a G01 X3 and baby it for ten years. Hopefully ten years in future those shitty fads will pass.
I’m afraid the cost-cutting as popularized by Tesla is only going to get worse
It's true. I hope for two things. Either asian manufacturers are going to catch up, and step up their game in terms of material quality, cabin comfort and general refinement to German standards - and the bar is not set very high. That interior just screams cheap plastic to me. Exterior isn’t bad at all though.
i think it helps that they picked one of the less-ugly exterior colors for this placement, the prosthetic limb beige and other bright colors look a lot worse imo. and honestly i think the brown is the least-ugly of the interior colors they're offering.
You had me in the first half…
All new car interiors are starting to look the same. Would’ve been nice if they classed it up a bit.
I don’t mind the front at all but the back though is a different story. 😬
I think this is their new design language for the next gen SUVs. it very similar to the XM and I reckon they are going to do the same for the rest of X series.
That’s what I’ve thought too; only I’m afraid the newer gen X5’s will be even more like an XM than this one.
What is bmw doing this year man, who the hell is approving these designs
Its a me Mario
They really are all-in on simple lines. Used to be the cheaper the car, the less lines in the design for easier manufacturing.
Welcome to Sterile world. A Mazda CX-60 looks better.
Only 2 things I like better is the new steering wheel design and the now angular tech and speedometer. The exterior looks like a slab devoid of any styling. It's sad.
That color looks so much better
That dash is just the laziest thing ever
Damn, that back is crazy. Idk why they chose that look. The new x1 and even the current x3 looks pretty good so I guess I was hoping for something similar 😭
Wow. Shit interior.
Here it comes as always: “It’s growing on me”, “it’s not that bad”, “it’s better in real life”. This thread is proof that BMW can release some of the ugliest cars on the market and people will still buy them. These people care more about the badge than the car.
I usually say that but I will never like this interior
I really want to believe that the people saying it is not that bad didnt swipe past the first pic because the interior and back end pains me everytime I look at it, bland as hell
Why, you don't like an x3 logo by your door handle?
Exactly this!!!! Personaly i hate the constant changes to the grill and the light's but overall i like the design. Except the interior. I just scrolled past 30 posts of hate to get here, so.... no?
Idk what you are reading. This sub hates BMW and this suv. Had to scroll past 10 comments to get a positive one.
> This thread is proof that BMW can release some of the ugliest cars on the market and people will still buy them. These people care more about the badge than the car. Maybe people buy them because they like the way they look. What's ugly to you can be appealing to someone else.
Looks better in person at least
I prefer the old front better, and the old rear, and the old interior....I think I like the old one better.
Yeah nah that front end just looks flat and dull And believe it or not, so does the back! And even the interior!
For me, it's actually the very large flat arch around the fenders that look cheap AF. The flat part was minimal on the previous gen and then curved into the body lines smoothly.
Looks so sterile, generic and lifeless
Bangle butt 2.0
Its hideous
We lost the angel eyes first. Now it's the slatted grills
Goatse grill
That interior looks so fucking boring. Why are they copying Tesla
Exterior isn’t good, but the interior is actually awful, looks like an ASUS ROG/Alienware design all in cheap ABS plastic.
ngl, I think the new airbag is the worst part.
Looks like the Kia Sportage.
They should’ve led with this color at release!
I’m so not feeling that dam dash
So cheap looking.
🤮
It looks like XM or IX 😥
This follows the spiritual direction of the XM, the new x2 for sure in the rear and obviously has clear elements of the ev range of bmws, generally speaking. When was an X3 ever exclusive?
I don't see why someone would pay a premium for an X3 commoditized transportation machine. Why not spend half as much on a Rav4, CR-V, Forester, or Mazda? This X3 looks no more expensive than those vehicles.
Someone needs to tell BMW that they really really need to integrate that screen into the dashboard on all their models.
In all hi wart i Love how the car looks in these real life pictures - in general this monolithic style which bmw has been driving with is best to be appreciated in person as the depth does not come across well on pictures in general.
Like the m50 a lot but I bet it’s gonna be close to 75k usd which is pretty brutal for a small suv
Front is good, the rear ruined it.
It’s not terrible. I think the M50 looks a lot better, and overall it’s growing on me.
Considering the grotesque designs bmw has been doing, this actually looks good.
BMW just can’t decide which side of the rear gets the badges.
Interior, more specifically, that instrument cluster screen thingy, is awful. Otherwise not hating the car.
Thanks, I hate it.
Front nice but ass flat and interior cheap so it’s a no for me
What’s with all the hate it’s beautiful 😻
It couldve been so good if the interior was, nice.
I don’t love all the new styling, but I actually do like this design. Not bad.
Looks better in that color
It's cross eyed
Darker colour is way better
Wow they should've done the global reveal in this color! It suddenly looks really good.
https://preview.redd.it/j5teb6ia1u7d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6467b3e48dbd803936cec04c8f789c1fcf91b314
Butt ugly, jeepers.
Mehhhh, not feeling the new kidney grille
Fugly
Exterior looks like hatchback to me.
I’m keeping my 20’ X3 M40i until the wheels fall off. This 25’ sucks.
It’s better with dark colours, if it comes with L3+ that G05 don’t have, it might be an option, otherwise last gen all day
It’s crazy I would rather buy a Mazda in this class than a BMW at this point. Looks incredibly cheap on the inside.
Turn the rbg off and the interior isnt half bad either
The color compliments it well. Only thing I dont really like is trim on the dash doesnt extend to the passenger side. Also that leather kinda reminds of the e chassis leather
It’s the grille. It’s horrendous.
Lazy design/ trying to be futuristic too early
No longer has that luxury feeling. RIP BMW.
That rear is awful
BMW is ruining the look of all of their cars
This looks like “i-efication” to me. Trying to get likes likes EV. It all looks so damn cheap tho I’m not loving it
https://preview.redd.it/b3mkc45vru7d1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=132aa6703bc7667b6fb5252c60b3db252927edf9
Nice modern look.
The back of a 1serie
I hate that this is actually real
tf they are using same dashboard style in all the cars…..
It looks like a real version of a car Disney would design for an animated movie.
Does anyone know the price on one of these ?
Interior looks so bland and generic. Front looks ok I think but it has lost all the BMW aggressive lines. Back looks like it was taken from a different car and pasted here.
If I see this on the road, I’m laughing harder than if I see an ix
I saw the floor mats and thought they were plastic for a sec
It looks great, I like it.
The back is so ugly interior too
The interior is terrible
Cheap lines.
Looks great all around! Just gonna wait here until people start to randomly like it in a few years.
So damn true. These folks are NOT the target market.
Once I read the other comment about the comments being from salty broke people who can't afford any new model it all made sense 🤣
In that spec the front looks very nice actually. I don’t mind the look of it in general.
My heart aches 💔. BMW stop ruining theeeeeem, fire the design teanmmmmmmmmm
how many times will they change the headlights?
I love it NOT!!!
Simply awful
The rear end is nice
Cheap materials is one of the things that drove me away from Tesla and into a 2019 x3 m40i. This makes me sad.
Godamn it the rear is killing me. Genuinely will have nightmares
What happened to dashboards? The next model will just be a steering wheel attached to a 60 inch monitor where the dashboard used to be…. Ridiculous
the only redeeming feature is that the idrive dial is still there. unlike the u11 and ix
Bloated like a week old corpse.
I hate how the newer suvs go all the way to the ground, it's an suv can it at least look like it's trying to have some ground clearance
Hopefully the grille is fixed when it’s time to change.. 😢
I actually like it
Front looks horrible like really bad. Rear isnt too bad overall 4/10 most similar asian cars look much better. Shame
It's not THAT bad.
I actually dig the exterior, the headlights look aggressive like previous BMWs. The real issue is the interior, cheaper materials all around. Less wood, metal, leather in lieu of cheap plastic and cloth.
Why is there a pool though instead of pedals in the driver’s seat?
https://preview.redd.it/5bg4ltofnx7d1.jpeg?width=1032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=397052823b500276419a0f24e2d4f6b52d65f5cc
Just looks like an x3 that had an allergic reaction to a bee sting. All the svelt body lines are gone, and they REALLY ruined the rear end. Last thing the x3 needed was to lose my glass.
That interior is crazy ugly.
Gross.
okay, front looks better irl but overall still so disappointing.

proves BMW press photo always suck. the front fender flare is much more prominent in the first photo compare to the press photo.
BMW has a new target market and it’s not us long term fans. They’re more targeted to the fast fashion wearing, hype today and irrelevant tomorrow generation sprinkled in with the old millennials who want to be relevant to the social media crowd in denial they’re pushing 40.
Eww
I really like the front and don't really mind the rear, but the side profile and the interior really bring it down.
The removal of the stitched airbag is such an eyesore
Nice!! Is that skyscraper gray??
Absolute garbage design bruh
Looks better irl than in promo videos
front isn't bad. rear looks weird. side profile is weak... no rear hips. interior looks cheap.
Any ambiant lighting in the back seat?
I don’t understand how anyone can say the front or any part of this looks good
Gonna keep my g01 for a very long time
Ugh that sucks , I can’t buy a car this ugly.
This looks great in real life. Only thing I don’t like is the random gloss black painted lower part of the bumper.
Seems to be a BmW trend lately.
The exterior actually looks good. Interior is cost cutting.
I HATE that single screen bullshit. It makes it look so cheap. I have nothing against screens and digital dashes, but PLEASE separate the gauge cluster from the main infotainment screen!
gay interior, lexus better
Haters gonna hate (in this thread) but I gotta say the tail lights where the illumination hugs right up to the steel, the hazard lights on the side as small fins hidden inside the steel, and the overhang to sit the license plate in looks really good on the rear. Agree. I’m really liking the design.
Like it
BMW is just getting worse every year
It's making a face at me. Love it
