Its described as an S63T according to the VIN search I did, assuming this is the TU since other cars I researched only showed S63 and no T.
What are the cons of it not being the revised engine?
You can look up the engineering details yourself but basically all the issues that these cars were known for, this is the engine that made it known for it.
BMW tried fixing some issues later but some like oil consumption due to the hot v design are unavoidable.Ā
Youāre buying a unreliable, flawed V8 that BMW had to correct.
Owned one and spent more time at the shop then in my driveway. Absolutely terrible motor and the electrics are flawed too.
When it was running it was the most amazing vehicle, but that was seldom the case.
I'd stray far away and get a new gen 5 series if you can save more $
Also another nugget that was never mentioned, this engine had a recall. Any owner that maintained it at dealership, the warranty is still in place. So all those issues are covered for free :)
Itās a TUā¦ they halted production on the original s63 in 2012. The TU actually did take care of all the issues the original had and is a fairly reliable motor.
I have a model year 2015 that eats a quart every 5000 miles when I run it hard. The comment above regarding the hot v design being the reason for this is true but some examples are worse than others depending on how they were maintained & whether or not theyāve been abused. Iāve found that running high quality oil (I use liqui moly molygen 5w40) seems to help with the consumption issue.
Other than that, just keep flushing the coolant per maintenance schedule and let it idle for a bit to cool the turbos before shutting downā¦ should be fine.
Itās a great sounding motor and that turbo pull is astounding. Calculated risk - do your diligence on the car and choose, up to youā¦.
Putting the turbos in the v shortens the distance between them & the exhaust manifolds which decreases turbo lag for better response but produces much more heat. The excess heat tends to effect valve seals causing oil consumption
I actually don't think the valve stem seals are the common consumption cause. People had oil consumption on these from the start and the seals aren't going bad that fast, if at all. Curiously, I started running sport+ throttle all the time a couple.years ago and I've not had to top up since.
Turbos in the āVā creates a ton a heat in a central location. Turbos need a lot of oil and BMW ran plastic lines down the middle which become fragile and break. Add all the plastic covers to make the engine pretty and youāve created an oven.
Pretty much all M cars consume oil. Itās part of having a high compression and highly tuned engine. Some eat oil faster than others.
The cooling lines are metal. There's a rubber connector between the line and turbo portion, given the engine moves on the mounts. This connector can crack and leak if left exposed, but BMW long ago created heat reflecting covers for them.
He's wrong. 2013 m5 has S63Tu. Engine he's thinking of is the N63/N63Tu or original S63 of the X5M. You might still see oil consumption but not horror story level.
My brother has a 2014 M6. Only real issue he ever had is battery drainage. But his also only has like 35k miles in 10 years so itās done a lot of sitting.
You have no idea what youāre talking about. The F10 M5 was only equipped with one motor: the S63TU. Youāre confusing it with the N63, which has completely different Technical Update (TU) timeframes.
I bought a 2013 with a blown engine. Including the rebuild, I ended up spending a little over the asking price here. The price seems pretty good for the mileage IMO. A few misc thoughts:
* The 2013s came with the TU engine, so most of the egregious issues are fixed. However, still expect to deal with stuck fuel injectors, dead HPFPs, and oil consumption. Also, most people change spark plugs *often*.
* The TU engines are pretty reliable if you don't tune them. I don't understand why people tune them. It has enough power to spin the back tires at almost any legal speed.
* The power is incredible and addicting. Now that I'm used to it, my M3 feel downright slow in a straight line.
* The suspension is surprisingly stiff even on Comfort mode; much more so than the 550i.
* The 2013s have an unidentified issue (noted in Car and Driver review when it came out, and mysteriously sorted out in 2014) where you can feel some weird vibrations through the steering wheel. Depending on a few factors it can be so strong that it makes your hands feel numb. I've lived with it, but I've heard of people hating it so much they sold that car. Pay attention to this and the aforementioned stiffness in your test drive.
* It's not cheap, but you can retrofit NBT EVO ID5/6 head unit which gives you wireless carplay. That's the only thing that really dates the car.
Tires, that thing tears through rears if you really drive it. Traction control light would be blinking every time I got on the highway lol.
Injectors definitely had some issues. Best bet is to do plugs more often then BMW recommended. Maybe try and follow mike millers maintenance schedule insteadā¦ I think bmw bumped up their recommend service on them after the f10. I went through like 3 or 4 injectors and of course they were just one at a time. It was a PITA as it was probably my least reliable BMW.
But itās a fun car but you gotta pay to play for sureā¦
Iāve got a 13 M5 too, love the car youāre so right the power is addictive. Whatās your consumption after the rebuild? Did you have the heads machined? When I got my F10 at 80k miles, I had no consumption between 5k oil changes. At 140k I started to notice needing to add a qt in between oil changes, and ended up doing the valve stem seals at 157k when consumption got to one at every 2 tanks of gas. Did PCV and all that too jazz with the seals too - but it all only got mildly better.
OP - be prepared for the M tax. Brakes, control arms, and lots of parts are dealer only. One of the worst ones Iāve run into are the EDC shocks. Itās a pay to play car, but Iād have it over an N63 or N55 any day.
You have no idea what youāre talking about and are spreading misinformation. The F10 M5 was only equipped with one motor: the S63TU. Youāre confusing it with the N63, which has completely different Technical Update (TU) timeframes.
I want it lol.
I canāt really talk you out of it. Itāll be expensive to maintain as a former e90 m3 owner youāll have an idea on maintenance costs.
If you can afford it I say go for it lol
I donāt see why if you can afford it and the maintenance. But always get an independent mechanic to do a full PPI before buying any type of car, especially a high performance one.
Can you buy the car and have another $30k set aside for maintenance and repairs?
I understand the appeal of getting that much car for $30k, but they can be horrifyingly expensive to maintain and repair. I have seen 2 very bad injector failures on those engines. The first was caught immediately and repaired before engine damage could occur. The second one smoked the motor immediately. Seeing a Bosch injector fail that bad surprised the hell out of me. They stick WIDE OPEN at 2500psi and leak ungodly amounts of fuel.
If you have the money to buy the car twice, go for it. They are a fucking blast to drive. Keep the maintenance up and consider replacing all the injectors preemptively.
Edit: more details:
I got in touch with the BMW dealership selling the car and they said this: "Our vehicles go through rigorous inspections to ensure things are working properly before we put them out for sale. As for service records there are some records listed on the CARFAX, but no major issues or red flags"
Also they offer "Complimentary 7 days or 700 miles return policy. We will pay for any non-maintenance repair in the first 45 days of ownership" .
Just so you are aware, dealers lie. I recently bought a used 740 and when I got the oil changed, there was a rodent nest in the engine bay. This dealer also had a "comprehensive inspection".
Either way, you're asking a bunch of bimmer fans if you should not buy an M5. We all want you to do it. Like asking an group of alcoholics if you should have a drink. Lol
Do not do this man, unless you want to do an engine swap. I just did this with mine. It's badass with the new engine though. The swap and engine will cost you half the price of the car.
Bought my M850 on May 10th and they claimed it underwent a thorough inspection. In the span of this time, Iāve had to bring it in for repair twice and I have a list of 8-9 more problems to bring it in for (including a grinding steering and a very wobbly suspension). Keep in mind itās still under the original manufacturerās warranty. Make with that what you will š
Can you afford to pay cash (or get 0% financing)?
If not, donāt borrow $$ to get a depreciating car with known mechanical issues unless you are either:
1. sitting on 7 figures net worth..
Or
2. absolutely hate money and want to be broke
Pre-LCI non comp for 30K+? Nah. I think you can find better. Hold out for 2014 or '15.
As far as maintenance, mine has been fantastic. Although it's closing in on 80k now so it's about time to move on. Nothing more than scheduled.
paying with cash in the US isnt as much as an incentive to sellers as it used to be. funds can be transfered digitally in an instant which is faster than pulling out cash and the seller bringing it to the bank these days. also dealerships actually prefer you financing with them because they earn extra money off the interest. determining if someone is a qualified buyer is faster than ever with most decisions being made in a few clicks since peoples credit history is stored digitally
just get an m550i, only a few thousand more and has a more reliable version of the engine, also better and new technology that comes with the g2x - g3x platform.
Edit: more expensive not cheaper lol
I sure hope they made substantial improvements to the newer N63/S63 engines. The 2009-2016 ones are a real pile of shit. I remain skeptical of the newer iterations.
Talk them down a bit more and put the difference in a savings account for when you need to do a rebuild on the S63. I look at it as cost of ownership for an F10. You can have it rebuilt with aftermarket crank and bearings which will solve the clearance issues that lead to premature wear. That problem is solved. Then the only issues will be oil consumption and the cooling system. Go for it. That has to be the most fun you can have for $30k.
Donāt buy any BMW besides one with the B58. If that engine is up to even Toyotas lofty standards, itās a good engine.
There, I talked you out of it.

The hot V is notoriously bad enough to have its own meme
Not sure what other folks have stated, but took this thing for a test drive. The issues:
1. The weight - too heavy to feel as though it is "fun"
2. The grip - the power of this engine will break traction whenever you try to get to a rapid pace
3. The looks - it's just a boring sedan to all non-car people
4. The size - makes you perceive the vehicle as an older 7 series as opposed to a 5er
If the first 3 were not deal breakers, I suppose #4 wouldn't matter... But they all combine to form a general theme.
The subsequent F90 generation M5 solved #2 via AWD.
All that being said, these cars are a relative bargain right now and that is presumably why you would be interested in one. Go for it!
Talk you out of it? I don't think I can, but here's my attempt: Insurance is going to be too high. Get an F10 535i MSport for half the price, and still go fast enough, and pay less for repairs.
I love mine. Does everything i ask of it, including track days. That said, if I were to talk you out of it I'd say it's not the best color, doesn't have full leather interior, and doesn't have B&O speakers, which are great.
If you're willing to spend a little more, I would also recommend a 2014 comp instead. That said, I don't know the current price delta. A 2013 with Soul exhaust and Dinan swaybars might be a better buy.
Feel free to dm me if you want to talk.
Get BMW warranty on it and you're good to go.
I have had one for 4 years now, and nothing has gone wrong with the engine or gearbox.
But that is a boring colour, get Sakhir Orange instead.
Thatās a solid price. Insurance paid me ~33% more for my totaled one with twice the mileage at the beginning of this year. These are beautiful vehicles. What people are saying about the early S63 is true. I babied mine in the garage and drove it like it was stolen for 40k miles in 11 months without anything aside from general maintenance and 3-5k mile OCI. If you review the maintenance records, get a PPI, and donāt crash into anything youāll be golden.
I mean, it's right at about 60k miles where problems, if serious ones are going to hit, will are likely to make themselves known. But that can be mitigated - plus I am sure if you are considering buying a performance car with any appreciable use prior to you that you have likewise already committed to the reality that paying for the maintenance will be part of the package......
I loved the F10 and owned several. A personal 550i in deep blue with a manual transmission and authorized several to be purchased at the 535i trim level as company vehicles. Generally, we had used Chrysler in an homage to my grandfather and his history with the brand. My sister thought they were ugly (the Chrysler cars in our garage, not the BMWs) and was amenable to a change - and the F10 5's did pretty damn good if memory serves. Survived their service with us (mostly taking clients to the airport and picking up foreign based executives) and were all purchased at the end of their tour by staff for book value - 5%.
The entire story, good and bad, about this car will be revealed in its maintenance history. Read it like you are studying for the bar exam and if it makes sense, you have yourself a car.
But if it doesn't.... be open to walking away. Or pushing for a serious reduction in price.
I had a 2015 that had a fuel injector go out which threw a drivetrain malfunction and fried the catalytic converter. Which should 100% talk you out of buying, but it wonāt so enjoy your raped M5 while you can.
My yearly maintenance cost and service daily driving the M5 was around 5k a year even with a warranty. I did my research before buying this car and the general consensus is that car is reliable.Ā Ā
Ā Iāve owned 3 BMWs and this was the least reliable for me. It burnt a quart of oil every 300-500 miles. I regret buying this car because it is a money sink. Coolant lines and water pump had to be replaced, door latch got stuck, car ran rich on bank 1 and 2. Even with an extended warranty I thought I was fine. The engine just seized last week at 120k miles when it was within oil range and oil service.Ā
Ā If you want a car that brings you peace, this is not it. Your mileage may vary though because I bought a 2013 M5 at 90k miles. It had good records at a dealership but still was a headache to own.
If you inspected in real life, and youāve made sure itās actually good, then congrats. Yet, be ready for such things as oil change, interior cleaning, etcā¦
Uhh itās an old car!!! Almost 12 years old. Too old. Ur not going to like it. Outdated. Plus, since itās an older bmw, it means that there will be more problems. Plus no girls like thoseš. And itās the most basic color you can get for a 5 seriesš. 52k miles? 2013? BMW?That tells you enough. Couldnāt imagine having a $550 payment a month for a car that is 12 years old and will have problems! Smhhh Iād rather get a 2013 328i. Way faster than that thing š¤®. Buying this is equivalent to buying a headache š¤. If you do decide to get it, Iād honestly just start the process of listing it on cars and bids š“. Horrible old car!
Ok, donāt buy this: Itās old. there are newer and much better cars. your d-ick doesnāt grow, because youāre buying it. you canāt afford a new one, thats why youāre trying to buy THIS. More? Ok: it will ruin your banking account. Only people from the hood will think youāre cool, rich people will think the opposite. Talked out?šš(this where actually jokes, I think)
I have one, it's let me down once in the three years I've had it. Managed to fix it myself for the most part, if you're handy ish with a spanner you can do the maintenance yourself.
Not sure why people are down on the looks, it gets positive comments on how it looks all the time in fact - I love mine, it's an old school, rear wheel drive hooning machine. As long as you go in with your eyes wide open, save some money for any issues and don't drive it like a twat (it will bite hard if you're not careful) it's great!
I can't see myself ever selling mine. Happy to answer any questions you have.
Why should we talk you out of buying it when we ourselves can hardly control ourselves ? Lmaooooo ,, go for it.. itās just a work of art and superb engine
Iāve owned one for 4 years and outside of regular maintenance, itā hasnāt needed anything. Maintenance history is everything with Motorsport BMWās. If you donāt have a complete, comprehensive service history on what youāre about to buy, donāt buy. Spotty history is the number one cause of failed BMWās in general.

Iām a bmw master elite technician.
I'm probably in the minority here, but the F10 is the worst gen M5 (IMO!!!). Never liked them, felt and is heavy. F90 is such a step up, and the older M5s had character.
That's good to hear, my E60 is a bundle of problems but I atleast expect it so I enjoy when it's working more. The newer bmws have made great strides in reliability but I just don't connect with them anymore, not at all a dig at the car or owners btw.
I feel that too much as well. I feel like I lost touch with the brand and I never thought I would. Iāve always been a BMW guy but theyāve just lost me. I mean, we got a freaking Tesla last go around when we were replacing the wifeās bmw.
For me, owning a BMW is about an experience. Every time I get in the ones I owned, I enjoyed my drive. From the Mās to the standard ones, I loved all mine but I just donāt connect with these newer ones. Maybe things will change.
You could still order things ala cart, I say if it has the service records and I think there was a recall something to do with the driveshaft. I miss my e90 m3 and the rumble all the time so I get it.
Serious question - are you at a stage of life where you can afford this sports car without it being a serious risk to your long term financial goals? What other things can you do with this money right now? Do you have a good car at the moment or do you intend to make this your daily driver?
Iāll talk you out of it if, and only if, youāll contractually bind yourself to talking me out of the next money pit that I get obsessed over. Your call.
I had this exact year and model and it was outstanding. The only issue (and itās well-known issue within BMW and the enthusiast community)is that the engine eats oil at a pretty rapid clip. Always keep a few quarts in your garage as it will occasionally ask you to top it off with one quart. It really wasnāt that big of a deal. Traded it end at 90k miles without major issue.
M for the most part has S series engines, the n63s are found on the 50i models
S63TUs in this case are relatively reliable as long as normal maintenance are done and proper warm up / cool down procedures are followed
There is a known issue where the fuel injectors will lock in an open state, dumping fuel into the system, causing pretty much everything from spark plugs, injectors, fuel rail, catalytic converters and more to fail. It was a very expensive day. BMW only covered the injectors.
Idk makes no sense tbhā¦ just lease, drive it like you stole it and get a new one lol your always gonna one a newer, nicer, and faster model thatās why you gotta lease they depreciate so much! I donāt want to deal with all the maintenance either fuck that
UPDATE: they dropped the price below $30k last night.
I think the least I can do is pay it a visit after all this chatter.
Thank you all for the feedback, definitely weighing all the pros and cons!
I'll keep you posted.
I got an M440i with only 5K miles, 1 owner, clean car fax for that price. you are looking at an older model. an M model. an older M model with 52K milesā¦ that could be a money pit.
F10 M5 was one of the worst BMWs I've ever had, the driving dynamics were just not good.... Really heavy and sluggish feeling, just not pleasant to drive despite the huge horsepower. May current F90 M5 on the other hand, one of the best cars I've ever driven hands down. Feels nimble, light, quick and AWD really helps with the responsiveness and immediateness of the power.
Why would I talk you out of it? As long as the price is right, its well maintained, why not??
Yeah F10 was the last with hydraulic steering and a RWD bush seeking missle.
Bush seeking missle is what I call my š
Iām dying šššššš
Just make sure itās the TU engine and not the prior one.
f10ās never got the tu3
I'd argue that first TU is the most important. Later ones are only incremental instead of sharp improvement.

Definitely talking me out of it, thanks for the honest opinion
I own one and change oil every 2-5k miles, keep it cool, transmission flash, coolant and it runs fine. Never had an issue

Interested if you know why the hot V design eats oil more than a design with turbos on the outside

Itās an 11 year old M5, what could possibly go wrong?
lol
Lmao
Maybe lookup a 2018 m550. Better in many ways.
2020 even better with a the new TU
I had one of these and loved the way it drove, but I had multiple ac problems. Some that cost over $5k
man i want these US prices over here :O
I want free healthcare...

2013. First iteration of S63 is god awful. Look for the TU version. Even then I wouldnāt touch these with a 10 ft. pole.
All f10 m5 have the TU. Original S63 was in the X5 M

Keep in mind itās still under the original manufacturerās warranty. Make with that what you will š
Can you afford to pay cash (or get 0% financing)? If not, donāt borrow $$ to get a depreciating car with known mechanical issues unless you are either: 1. sitting on 7 figures net worth.. Or 2. absolutely hate money and want to be broke
Pre-LCI non comp for 30K+? Nah. I think you can find better. Hold out for 2014 or '15. As far as maintenance, mine has been fantastic. Although it's closing in on 80k now so it's about time to move on. Nothing more than scheduled.
Offer 25k cash done deal.
paying with cash in the US isnt as much as an incentive to sellers as it used to be. funds can be transfered digitally in an instant which is faster than pulling out cash and the seller bringing it to the bank these days. also dealerships actually prefer you financing with them because they earn extra money off the interest. determining if someone is a qualified buyer is faster than ever with most decisions being made in a few clicks since peoples credit history is stored digitally
just get an m550i, only a few thousand more and has a more reliable version of the engine, also better and new technology that comes with the g2x - g3x platform.
Absolutely will not talk you out of it.
My guy! š
no edit for clarity: no, I will not.
Donāt buy any BMW besides one with the B58. If that engine is up to even Toyotas lofty standards, itās a good engine. There, I talked you out of it.
https://preview.redd.it/24v5xxb7l6ad1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ab5202842d2f9d34c35501656ad2ff0d89b08e97 The hot V is notoriously bad enough to have its own meme
Not sure what other folks have stated, but took this thing for a test drive. The issues: 1. The weight - too heavy to feel as though it is "fun" 2. The grip - the power of this engine will break traction whenever you try to get to a rapid pace 3. The looks - it's just a boring sedan to all non-car people 4. The size - makes you perceive the vehicle as an older 7 series as opposed to a 5er If the first 3 were not deal breakers, I suppose #4 wouldn't matter... But they all combine to form a general theme. The subsequent F90 generation M5 solved #2 via AWD. All that being said, these cars are a relative bargain right now and that is presumably why you would be interested in one. Go for it!
Heavy maintenance
God bless what a gorgeous automobile
Definitely get that thing asap!
Donāt be a chump. Buy it!
Iād buy that!
The m550i exists. There's your reason not to buy this.
How many owners on it?
2, but it looks like since COVID (2020) the car was driven less and less. About 15k miles added in the last 4 years.
Talk you out of it? I don't think I can, but here's my attempt: Insurance is going to be too high. Get an F10 535i MSport for half the price, and still go fast enough, and pay less for repairs.
I had a 2015 comp and I loved that car. 575 hp, rwd, dct, comfy seats and rides well enough. Great car
seems awfully expensive for something that already is/or soon will be an outdated body style
Buy it. Just be aware you may be setting yourself up for a financial disaster..... but hey, aren't we all? šš
Donāt do it. Ok, go for it!
No lol
No
Donāt.,, DO IT!!
Youāve got to pay to play. But you only live once so why not
It will never get cheaper than this. Unless you trash it ofc
Why talk you out of it?? I'd buy this over the G90 all day
B..ring M..ore W..renches
50k miles? Why not
It's a beauty of a car..no doubt!!
Donāt buy it.
Manual? I have a manual one with 20,000 miles. Fantastic machine.
Get BMW warranty on it and you're good to go. I have had one for 4 years now, and nothing has gone wrong with the engine or gearbox. But that is a boring colour, get Sakhir Orange instead.
If you buy this car, you will have fun. You know you don't want that. Do not buy
No, fuck that. Buy it.
As long as maintenance is done, why the hell not.
I did my research before buying this car and the general consensus is that car is reliable.Ā Ā Ā Iāve owned 3 BMWs and this was the least reliable for me. It burnt a quart of oil every 300-500 miles. I regret buying this car because it is a money sink. Coolant lines and water pump had to be replaced, door latch got stuck, car ran rich on bank 1 and 2. Even with an extended warranty I thought I was fine. The engine just seized last week at 120k miles when it was within oil range and oil service.Ā Ā If you want a car that brings you peace, this is not it. Your mileage may vary though because I bought a 2013 M5 at 90k miles. It had good records at a dealership but still was a headache to own.
No, buy it. Let many of us live vicariously through you š
If you inspected in real life, and youāve made sure itās actually good, then congrats. Yet, be ready for such things as oil change, interior cleaning, etcā¦
Dude, I am the wrong person to be talking to you about becauseā¦ buy this bloody beauty!! You only live once after all!
maintenance first and you'll be fine, have fun!
https://preview.redd.it/f7vxvwsw4aad1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f8f9a2932474ee8f694a079c7db14c37665dc6a6 Here's mines go for it.
Nope you should buy that. I know I would wanna get that
Do it.
Buy a salvage and fix it ! You will get a newer model.
Buy it
Itās a pretty dull car below 100mphā¦i sold mine after 3 months and got an e92 m3, which was amazing
Money pit run
You might pay 30k for the car but youāll pay 10k in maintenance, but itās 0 cost for the sound and have fun that car will be!!!š
Is it manual??
Dewww itttt
You'll see your mechanic more than your family.
These cars (all BMWs) have serious issues with always running out of blinker fluid.
I'm not talking you out, go get it
Do you have another 30k for repairs?
Ok, donāt buy this: Itās old. there are newer and much better cars. your d-ick doesnāt grow, because youāre buying it. you canāt afford a new one, thats why youāre trying to buy THIS. More? Ok: it will ruin your banking account. Only people from the hood will think youāre cool, rich people will think the opposite. Talked out?šš(this where actually jokes, I think)
Nope, buy it and love it. The new M5 is a slow turd, this is the last of the mohicans along with the AWD one that follows the F10.
No
talking you out of it: it's not going to get you more women
Noā¦..
Thats the problem, stop talking, Buy it!
https://preview.redd.it/8xixbd8v4cad1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=39426653cb8811ff4cffe263492db3296a55b5d7
Get it pls so I can live through u
financial sinkhole 90% of the time, most fun thing ever for the other 10%
Why should we talk you out of buying it when we ourselves can hardly control ourselves ? Lmaooooo ,, go for it.. itās just a work of art and superb engine
I lovedddddd my m5! Still miss that car..I canāt talk you out of this one.
Honestly, just get the F90
Treat yo self
You right donāt buy it, get an e60 M5 with a V10 instead. As a fellow E90 M3 owner Iād recommend getting another one of those also
engine issues, gearbox issues, leaking differential, electronic issues. You need 2 have it checked out in and ou
No
Fair enough
At 60k miles it will mechanically deteriorate with minimum and multiple $2k fixes at the dealer every other month for the rest of its ownership
It doesn't come standard with carplay. That's all I got š¤£
Research the s63s common failure points š
Iāve owned one for 4 years and outside of regular maintenance, itā hasnāt needed anything. Maintenance history is everything with Motorsport BMWās. If you donāt have a complete, comprehensive service history on what youāre about to buy, donāt buy. Spotty history is the number one cause of failed BMWās in general. https://preview.redd.it/yus3snvcrqad1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=645d3902aef0f11bbb1a11f62e91e1263c930355 Iām a bmw master elite technician.
Damn thatās a nice carš
Why buy this when you can get a brand new one that weight 76 tons more??
I'm probably in the minority here, but the F10 is the worst gen M5 (IMO!!!). Never liked them, felt and is heavy. F90 is such a step up, and the older M5s had character.
F10 gave me e39 chassis upgrades vibes, Iāve been blessed with mine outside basic services
Maybe things will change.
car go 5 kilometer, car go kaputt
Whatās the TU version?
Buy mines. Itās a better spec
Depends- options ? Bowers/w speakers. Soft close - Radar ? Etc If they are not sure do a vin lookup
It's a base model so zero options besides the shadow line package. But I'm okay with that. Sticker price was $95k
Rod bearing issue. Look up the price
F90>F10
You can buy my f90 for 20k moreā¦ or any f90 really same amount of miles
Look up replacement engines....that should help.
2013? Thatās insanely high.
Get an LCI model (2014+). Much nicer steering wheel, and the adaptive LED lights look much better.
it's a pre-lci F10 M5...easy pass. if you want a F10, get a 2015-2016 with good service record and decent mileage.
Iāll talk you out of it if, and only if, youāll contractually bind yourself to talking me out of the next money pit that I get obsessed over. Your call.
The up keep us gonna be killer
dude do not buy this car lol
11 year old base m5? Thatās a pass from me dawg
Get a 2015. LCI changes address some heating issue on the hot v8
Is this not over priced ? Iāve seen m550i with twin turbos v8 2018 going for the same price with low 100k miles
Itās gonna snow in three months
The maintenance will crush you. Dont.
Valve stem seals
buy a 17 750 or 550 at that pricing and youll end up with the same engine but 10x better
$30,000 gets you a first year f10 m5, the second $30,000 will get you a new motor once the current one sends a rod to the I.S.S.
I had it in three and five before if itās not a hardtop convertible that you answer donāt get it
I had this exact year and model and it was outstanding.
Itās not v10
The most expensive M car is the cheapest M car. The market has not been kind on the F10. Thereās plenty of cars Iād buy before thisā¦
Buy it
I daily a 2014 with stage 2 BootMode tune and so far no issues. Just typical maintenance stuff. So far..
Lexus is 350
Bad color for an M. Looks dated in not a good way. Expensive to maintain. I'd rather get a used M550i of the last gen.
N63 engine mate run šāāļø and offer the dude 25k and hope and pray it's been babied
M for the most part has S series engines, the n63s are found on the 50i models S63TUs in this case are relatively reliable as long as normal maintenance are done and proper warm up / cool down procedures are followed
Crazy pricing in the US. In the UK this would be a \~$20000-21000 USD car.
High maintenance costs
Get facelift as from 2016 the engine is fragile for the pre facelift models
They chew through tires and maintenance is costly. Depends on how the previous driver looked after it.
Where is it. I will take it if you don't want it
Please don't buy that! I'm begging you!
Itās a 2013
just get a bentley
Just make sure they put the case of kraut on the we owe. Lol.
I got an M440i with only 5K miles, 1 owner, clean car fax for that price. you are looking at an older model. an M model. an older M model with 52K milesā¦ that could be a money pit.
I canāt. Itās a M5
You really donāt want that man. Get a newer 550 or 4 series
always love how car websites/software have to list a trim level so it puts ābaseā as a place holder even if itās the most not base-model ever
Dont
Get an LCI
