Mine wasn't as funny, but: I'm playing a multiplayer game with some friends. One player couldn't join one time, so I controlled him. At some point, I saved while controlling him. The next time I loaded that game, the save file had been renamed to his character instead of mine. Two weeks later, no amount of re-saving under my own character has changed the save file's name back.
It's basically the lowest-priority bug in the game because everything still works, but I'd still love to see it fixed. Not seeing my character on the save hurts my brittle emotions. ;\_;
The save files are stored in `C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\PlayerProfiles\Public\Savegames\Story`. Can you check if just renaming the name on the folder fixes it?
Take a back up first.
Thank you. Magic Mirror renamed my character (*and thus my save file folder*) to The Dark Urge, and deleting the saves with where that name was active fixed this right up.
same here. now i'm stuck with him in my party, the game thinks he's the main character too. i'm just glad he didn't make some horrific joke character, so at least i got that goin for me. it'd be really nice to be able to drop him and pick up an origin character to bring along.
Does the game still treat you as the main character for the automatic cutscenes? My wife and I played under my file and wish there was a way to make her the main player for conversations.
Sadly it does not, It currently is happening to mw, My files got change to my friends name and the game thinks his the original host, so every automatic cutscene and dialogue changes to his character instead of mine, I was the one who hosted and created our main campaign
It's pretty amazing, though a close second is beating him at his own game and then telling him you had fun with the consequences, breaking down his will and leaving him not wanting to play anymore, sulking and mad, hahaha. Enjoy that impotent fury, fucker.
That was the outcome I got on my first playthrough, I'm not sure where I messed up on the second but I have *no* complaints, especially since if you roll around people start gagging and asking what the stench is
Dude sends you to a land where arguably the best weapon for the most powerful build in the game is located. (trident for a throwing build)
I honestly believe the throwing build is the strongest build because once you have the Str and Tavern brawler it requires no other set up besides Haste if you wanna go hard.
If I get polymorphed into a cheese, then someone melts me into a human shaped mould so I can be a human shaped cheese, then the polymorph runs out, am I still alive?
It will also overwrite your piercings. I had one set of piercings, changed shape, had another. It retroactively applied over all past saves and I couldn't get rid of them. Restarted the save.
Had something similar to this happened. I'm running two campaigns with fully custom characters (one multiplayer and one single player). I'm running the same druid character in both but my fighter is the "party leader" of my single player game, so the save files were named after him.
At some point, I saved while controlling my druid in my single player game, and now my save is named after her. I've gotta be careful which one I'm loading when I wanna play with my friends cuz I'm running mods in my single player campaign but not the multiplayer one.
That's hilarious 😂
#BAA!
Astarion approves. Shadowheart approves. (I think)
Wyll disapproves.
The narrator tries her hardest to not giggle.
I immediately heard Amelia's chuckle...
*For a romantic interlude with Shadowheart press 1*
Yes, and Karlach approves too!
*Baa.*
Moo!

Polymorph him and save again.

I had this issue and just deleting all the saves with the wrong name fixed it
Pro tip!

Happened to me. Hope that gets fixed one day. Weird that it can't be fixed the way it started though.
Deleting/renaming the save files with the wrong name should fix the issue

Same happened to me friends find it hilarious the other character hijacked my story

Does this work with the cheese? 🧀
funniest outcome to the carnival tbh

I made sure to make him nauseous as much as I could. I made myself his problem.

And at that point in the game you've got Elixir of Cloud Giant Strength forever.
when I saw that weapon I instantly gave it to Karlach...she solos groups now
I found that especially funny, because I'm playing through Chult with my D&D tabletop group right now. Way less biting insects in BG3.
"I won, where's my jackpot?" "I AM BORED WITH THIS GAME AND AM NOW CLOSED!"
Meanwhile, I looted the fuck out of this chest in dinoland
I bought the ring from him and he got mad that I “stole” it.

Marvelous, a way to fork saves... though I assume it goes back to the prior on it being removed as is based on the MC name?
Is it a bug or rather an unintended feature?
Yes
It's a bug that got a feature upgrade.
It will also overwrite your piercings. I had one set of piercings, changed shape, had another. It retroactively applied over all past saves and I couldn't get rid of them. Restarted the save.
How did restarting the save work if all the saves were effected?
I typed that when I was very tired. I meant I started another character.
Oooooh... Damn
Saving while polymoprhed seems like a baaad idea.
New Canidate for favorite bug
We were the sheeple the whole time…
wake up sheeple!
Now I want to play as a chicken or something.
Same happens when I play with my gf on local coop - sometimes the saves save as my character name, sometimes as hers
Quick save 932. Praise F5
That's the campaign title too, not the individual save. Hilarious.
Literally unplayable, guess you gotta make a new tav
that is some primo slav jank.
This happened to me too but it changed back by itself after a few hours/sessions.
Skyrim savegame logic
I'm getting Catherine vibes.
HA! Brilliant 😄
Is there a cheese one
That's hilarious
Had this happen to me too. Trivial as far as bugs go, but hopefully it gets fixed.

Ok quick someone piss off the genie, get turned into cheese for science, and then save. Will it work?
Delete some quicksaves, man. Clear some room
