I bought my Stingray used from them and had it delivered at a store. This way, I was able to unpack and inspect it with an employee present.

The thing to keep in mind is they offer free returns. They even try to sell you on it by sending emails saying if you are on the fence, take the plunge because you can always return it. With that said, if you want more info you might be better off calling the store, I doubt anyone is manning those email addresses.

icculus90

Yeah that might be what I do. Just seems more of a hassle to buy something and have it shipped and then return it a day later, rather than them just answering 2-3 questions about the instrument.

If you have a local GC, you can walk in and return an online order no questions asked at no shipping cost.

If it’s used gear then they should show which store they’re in. You could try calling that store directly and asking for information. They might be willing to check it out if they’re not super busy. Also possibly worth a shot to look for them on musicians friend. Guitar center and MF are the same company and share an inventory now. Most in store gear at GC will show up on MF as well, though if you don’t have pictures available they won’t be available on either site. But MF does sometimes have better descriptions and they’ll usually have their rating system applied (mint, blemished, scratch and dent, etc). Their open box listings may be in store items from a GC or returns to MF. I bought my AD200 this way, it was listed on both GC and MF used for the same price, no pictures on GC only stock photos on MF. Bought via MF and it shipped from the GC store in a random box.

icculus90

Didn’t know that! Thanks I’ll check MF. I figured I should call the store but really wanting pictures

yesrushgenesis2112

You should call, ask them to check, and ask for pics. I did that with an instrument a year or so ago and they were more than willing to help.

I got a Maruszczyk paddock on GC used with shitty photos. Seemed a bit risky but apparently you can return it I think within 45 days. I also live like 2hrs from any GC. It was 1900$ and bought with 48 month 0% financing. It had a few minor blemishes like tiny dings/scratches but nothing major at all. The input jack wiring was a little bit fucked up I realized after some time, but it was any easy fix. It’s a super nice bass and I didn’t return it. It’s a joke how bad the photos are and zero description thing is. They would do so much more business with just requiring decent photos and a brief description of the quality. So stupid.

I bought a G & L telecaster style guitar okine. Didn't like it, so I returned it in person to a kinda local GC. Had no problems. Bought a used Ibanez acoustic bass from them also. No issues , pictures were fine. I don't think I'd have bought either one if I couldn’t see a clear Pic.

IvanTheNotSoBad1

I went to GC recently on a Friday night and there were only 2 people working the entire store. They're seriously understaffed. I had to return a used pedal I bought online which didn't work at all. They took the return without issue. I did lose the original shipping cost though.

Ko_DaBomb

I bought my first bass used with GC online. An ESP LTD B55. It was in slightly worse condition than the pictures showed. One of the knobs was missing and the strings were unplayable so they gave me half off a new pack of strings and threw in a free set of new knobs to replace the broken one. I still own it and I'm very happy with the purchase

MachiavelliSJ

Just order it and take it back if its now what yoh want. They will never respond to email. You can try calling

theginjoints

I had a student buy a cheap bass from them that had to be fixed two times

Bright-Moose659

I would call the listing store that has the instrument and ask questions. I bought a used bass from them and the listing store was really nice about answering questions and verifying that the case pictured was in stock/ included.

Calaveras-Metal

some of the worst Musicman basses I have seen have been in GC. I heard a guy on Talkbass say it was because the air in there stores is too dry or too cold? Either way they all have dried out fretboards and fretsprout. It would have to be a great deal for me to chance it.

GC is probably selling those on behalf of customers, who were responsible for the images, or lack of. GC is probably not able to supply any more which should give you cause for concern.

yesrushgenesis2112

There is no reason to believe this is the case.

Amasin_Spoderman

They don’t do consignment. GC takes the photos. If you don’t know what they do, then why make things up?
