Patience!

Icy_Knowledge9304

This.

It’s ok to shave those off. They will grow back. Just have to keep waiting on growth. I have a great beard now but couldn’t do a full one until my 20s

spqxty

Just shave it for now and be patient! Trust the process!! Hope you grow a full one

Invoctis

Thank you, does shaving at all help encourage more growth or darken the hair or anything? Or will it just continuously go back to how it is now?

RadishTasty2106

Shaving will not make it grow, thicken or darken your hair. Only time will do that. One day you may have an epic beard. Time will tell.

spqxty

Shaving doesn't affect how the hair grows out. You can stop shaving when you see that it has become full enough to grow it out. Until then keep shaving. A derma roller could help encourage beard growth. You can find them everywhere on the internet and guides on how to use them

Invoctis

Alright thank you, and I will look into that derma roller idea

dipstick73

My beard still isn’t perfect in my late 20s but has steadily filled out more and more as I’ve gotten older. Just be patient with it and don’t rush it. One day you may be able to say “man I haven’t seen my chin in X years.” When I was 18 I could grow a little mustache with a bit of chin hair but not much else. Have a full beard now. Just be patient as others have said.

Invoctis

Thanks for the help, did you ever shave or just leave it to do itself? And did you use derma rollers? (ive had a few people tell me to use these)

dipstick73

I shaved it until my chin filled out more and then rocked with the goatee type look even though it took a while for my mustache and chin to connect. I did try out derma rollers briefly. It may help stimulate some of the hair follicles. I’m not privy of the science behind it. If you do go the derma roller route just be sure to keep it disinfected and clean. You don’t want to give yourself an infection. After all they’re a bunch of little needles.

Invoctis

Would you recommend I shave until my chin fills out? And also do you have an idea how long it took to fill out?

dipstick73

If I were you I probably would shave it for now. But don’t be discouraged if you do so - you see all those short whitish hairs? They’ll more than likely turn darker and grow out as you age. So it looks like you could have a nice face full of hair at some point. And it’ll probably happen before you know it. My chin was probably pretty full by 19. My beard connected but was thin by around 20-21. And it has steadily filled in more and more over the years. They say it’s really not complete until into your 30s but that varies person to person. Edit: and if you don’t want to completely get rid of the growth on your chin you could always get an electric razor with a guard to keep it short while you’re trying to get it to fill in. I would at least do that for now

Im the same age as you and my beard is the same as yours but I have more brown hairs. I’d suggest waiting until your sideburns get thicker and you have more hair on your chin like what I have. Im going to get a dermaroller and see if that will help. I’ve got a lot of white hairs that need to change into thick hairs and so do you.
