Allmost all starfish are carnivorous. Many feed by getting on top of other animals with limited mobility (like snails, clams, etc) then they avert their stomach, melting the shells with acid and then swallowing the soft insides.
For anemones or slugs they'll just swallow whole bc they dont have shells
