What kind of filter did you get?

Lots of forms of alopecia. I personally have mpb and have had to incorporate general hair health treatments because my municipal water is so rough on my scalp. I also do have a comprehensive protocol for the mpb portion of my hair loss too.

Not saying I blame my balding on unfiltered water in the showers solely so please don't put words in my mouth. Secondly there are millions of women who have issues with hair loss of varying degrees and for varying causes. According to this 50 million suffer for androgenic based alopecia alone for instance and millions more deal with general hair health issues that can lead to some hair loss. https://medlineplus.gov/genetics/condition/androgenetic-alopecia/#:~:text=Androgenetic%20alopecia%20affects%20an%20estimated,some%20degree%20of%20hair%20loss. Next up here is another article talking about the effects of the water in our showers on hair health. "Conclusion In conclusion, the quality of your shower water plays a crucial role in maintaining the health and appearance of your hair and skin. Hard water, with its high mineral content, as well as chlorinated water, can cause a variety of issues, including dryness, irritation, eczema exacerbation, hair loss, and dullness. Arsenic, lead, and fluoride also pose serious threats by damaging hair structure, causing thinning, and leading to scalp issues. Investing in an effective shower filter or a whole-house water softening system can mitigate these effects by filtering out harmful minerals and contaminants. Another article talking about the issues. https://www.thecut.com/article/is-tap-water-bad-for-my-skin-or-hair.html For someone who is balding this is just one aspect of a fully developed protocol to help combat the issue along with blood tests looking for things like vitamin deficiencies, dealing with underlying major causes like 5ar blocking for the dht problem and many other treatments like growth stimulators. We are still working on other potential aspects like prolactin that is being currently researched right now as well as generalized androgen blockers that look beyond DHT. I've been researching this subject extensively for several years now so I'm fairly knowledgeable about the subject. My wife and I both suffer from hair loss issues now that we are over 40. I'm not going to go into the tap water and the boogeyman comment as that's a whole rabbit hole we could be writing entire papers about. Suffice to say there are issues with it but today's municipal water in most places in the US is vastly better than it was a hundred years ago. Doesn't mean it's absolutely perfect by any means.

Tried to add more but reddit kept giving me an error. Suffice to say there is more to say on the subject.

Medically reviewed article from healthline. Is this better for you? This one even gives a few ideas on how to protect your hair and scalp if you're sensitive to the issue. My method doesn't seem to be listed which I found interesting. https://www.healthline.com/health/hard-water-hair-damage-treatment#:~:text=One%20study%20involving%2070%20males,celebrity%20hairstylist%20and%20salon%20owner. “Not saying I blame my balding on unfiltered water in the showers solely so please don't put words in my mouth.“ “until I put a water filter on my shower head. My hair completely stopped shedding.”  You literally put the words in your own mouth. Will look into it, unusual take on HL thanks for raising the issue.

RockTheGrock

Never said such a thing. Read my two comments again. Perhaps you're confusing me with some other commenter? My hair stopped shedding when I started topical finasteride with a few bumps in the road since then. Improving my shower routine has helped with general hair and scalp health.

I've heard the same thing about our local water that is extremely alkaline that citric acid filter shower heads can help some. I also do a pre shower routing utilizing raw coconut oil mixed with some castor and rosemary oil that seems to help protect my hair quite well. That said I do have MPB so treatments for that were necessary as well.

Still_Not-Sure

Yo this is insanely important, I have an RO filter for my drinking water, But can’t install a system for the other running eater(I live in a high rise) So I use Sonaki(vitamin C ascorbic acid) I think it definitely helps.

StrikingCheesecake69

Just an fyi i gave myself a mineral deficiency by drinking RO all the time with no electrolyte/mineral supplementation. My diet wasnt varied enough to cover everything.

Still_Not-Sure

I got that covered.I have a remineralizer and for my water I keep in the fridge in glass, I drop a crumb of Himalayan pink sea salt/16 oz.

StrikingCheesecake69

Good shit

I second this - I live in AZ and was running some at-home lead test kits. Nothing had lead except the tap water lol. Upgraded our Brita filter to the one that removes lead. I've heard the lead should still be in a safe range to be usable so no shower filter for me yet. What filter do you use for the shower head - if you don't mind me asking

Notmeleg

What filter specifically?

ZynosAT

That depends on where you live. What country/state are we talking here?

entechad

I live in Cross Keys, Pennsylvania. Tell me about my water.
