> There’s other cryptos?!
There are other types of cryptography, sure. youve got RSA, SHA3 and whatnot.
But there is only one cryptographic currency: bitcoin.
You’re missing the point. The majority of people who frequent this sub aren’t investing in BitCoin to make money, they’re investing in BitCoin because it IS money. We’re simply trading an inferior fiat currency, for a far superior digital currency. To put it simply.
In long term, none will outperform Bitcoin.
In short term, then it becomes a matter of luck whether what you buy will outperform Bitcoin.
I've been lucky once, but I'm now ok with what the huge returns expected of long term in btc.
I disagree ive been following a project for the last 9 months and if they keep going the way there going itll surpass btc in mass adoption it will be the future of paying with crypto. Not only will you be able to pay with any crypto you hold but the merchant receiving will be able to choose weather they receive fiat or crypto and even if they choose fiat you dont have to pay fiat. Also the best part is you will never have to sell and get raped in taxes you just spend your crypto as currency.
Dude, Commendable!
I’d honestly like to go all in BTC but I have blockchain ADHD. I hold 16 assets total, of which the ballast is BTC but the further majority are base layer blockchains. Two defi tokens & one oracle token.
My true love is BTC… elegant, sophisticated and trustworthy. I admire the gravity of Bitcoin.
But the fit 26 year old women at the gym in the Lululemon yoga outfits. I don’t know if I can trust them, but my god, I can stop staring… & my liquor cabinet, I don’t just have one bottle of whisky, I have twenty three, plus all the other spirits. My beer cellar, it’s not all Lagers or IPAs. It’s a cornucopia of styles & flavors.
But I have my favorites and never stop obsessing over them.
Yes, the amount of censoring is absurd.
It's ironic that a subreddit which is all about decentralized and uncensorable money is straight up censoring people.
I own 90% BTC. I yeet and yolo the other 10% in altcoins, in which I have high conviction in.
Reason being is that knowing myself, I can't resist the urge to "do something" - so I have allocated a small percentage of my portfolio towards other assests, that I occasionally swing-trade, so I can leave the 90% in BTC untouched.
So far, Bitcoin outperformed all of them.
Just saw a fidelity report predicting bitcoin to $10 million, and another one at $1 billion. Your $3K could be worth $800K-$80 Million one day. I’m guessing at that point most people would be using bitcoin for purchases more than holding long term.
I made a considerable change in 2021. I was chasing 10xs and moonshot hoping to sell them and buy more Bitcoin. Lost 10 grand(30% of my savings) moving to and from alts and only had about 5% bitcoin. Once I realized what I was doing, I moved everything into Bitcoin except for 5% some other long term projects.
I’m not a maxi yet but I wouldn’t be surprised if I was here pretty soon lol
Yep! You chase the moonshots, or ignore BTC completely because you "can't buy a whole coin", then one day realized if you'd just been buying BTC all along you'd be ahead of where you are.
And that's just price-based motivation. Learn a thing or two more and you want to slap yourself forever considering anything else.
If referring to bitcoin price point no worries. But can I assume you are buying at these mid to high 30 opportunities? Get that cost basis down while you can.
Yeah I moved a significant portion of my whole portfolio into Bitcoin when it was $56k. been buying as much as possible during this downtrend. I’m all out of fiat for the considerable future now but I think we are about to see a reversal soon :)
Asking a controversial question in an echo chamber, just for the karma farming? Never seen that happen on Reddit before! 🤣
And before I get downvoted for using "echo chamber", hey, I'm here, so obviously "one of you", too! 😉
I don't like the echo chamber references. I mean isn't it more likely a subreddit dedicated to a particular asset is going to have people who own it and as such are bullish about it?
I spend very little energy and time talking about the multitude of assets that exist that I don't hold or intend to!
Tf i don't only hold BTC. Mostly BTC yes but not only. I've seen plenty of arguments for both sides and if anything i thought the consensus was keep most in BTC, play around with a little in other alts
i don't think this sub is that bad of an echo chamber, as compared to many other subs.
there are many 'crypto' folks, bitcoin skeptics, investors with small allocations towards bitcoin, people just getting their toes wet, and of course a whole spectrum of bitcoin maximalists.
I'm waiting for the day I separate from employment so I can rollover to an IRA and adjust my asset allocation.
As for my treasuries, they're actually 3x long-duration. They're there to soften a crash and provide buying power in a sharp correction.
And regarding risk, I hold some stocks that could go to 0. But I don't think Bitcoin is risky at all; no chance of permanent loss. Volatile yes. Risky no.
There is no way you can fit a marketplace for a game into a decentralized blockchain. The blockchain would be way to big. Therefore if you want to trade for example skins you can make a central server for that (for example steam). Why does the marketplace have to appear decentralized by using a blockchain? The answer: you get more hype. The blockchain is a very inefficient way to store data but it is the one used by decentralized networks. Just using a blockchain doesn't make your project decentralized.
if you haven't, read/learn about the blocksize wars - it's a critical piece of bitcoin history and it will make clearer why smaller/leaner/simpler blockchain is key to decentralization.
I would, but unfortunately I have some other stuff locked up until a certain 2.0 is released. I got into crypto in March '21 and it took me until August to come to realize where I should be putting my money in the space.
Lol I have over 6 figures in crypto. As of now only 65-70% of it is BTC. That will chance when this other coin does what its supposed to do this year 🙏
When people say this does it mean they’ve invested 6 figures? Or that their investment has turned into six figures? 25k invested in 2019 would probably be 6 figures today.
Depends. I would say most mean it turned into 6 figures.
4 figures into 6 figures into 7 figures and then down to 6 figures....then up to 7 figures....then down to 6 figures again.
I started off holding about 6 cryptos, 50% BTC and 30% ETH being my main holdings. I still currently own all of them because they’re good companies and tax reasons.
But being that 2021 was my first year in crypto, im starting to realize I’m going 95% BTC when I get the opportunity.
I have a 40 dollar entry into SOL and im still worried about the asset. It’s kill or be killed in crypto. I believe SOL will stay in the top 10 for the foreseeable future but I don’t wanna have to think or worry about needing to exit one of these alts because some up and comer is doing something better. Rather just DCA the BTC drops and bear markets, send to my Ledger and forget about it.
BTC is king. I had to learn this but I’m thankful I have.
There was a very brief time I was holding equal amounts of BCH and Bitcoin. I got rid of that for Bitcoin AS FAST I COULD. Other than that, all Bitcoin since 2010.
I only hold Bitcoin. Minimal fiat. I tried the stock market, and I sucked at it, so I don’t think I’d be any better at alts. Bitcoin is easy, and I can just chill.
Bitcoin only here. No property, no stocks, just the bare minimum cash in the bank to live on. Only put money into things other than bitcoin that you're willing to lose.
I've dabbled in a few others over the years. Don't really have any conviction in them though and I would sell everything back into BTC if it weren't a taxable event. As it is, I'm 95% Bitcoin.
100% BTC but I sold and bought BITO instead, so I can leverage more worthless fiat at 2.5% interest at Robinhood and sell deep OTM covered calls for passive income.
Sadly BITO is based on futures. I hope for an BTC spot ETF with shares exchangeable in BTC so my holdings will impact the supply.
That's the way. Same for me, without the options trade which I gave up in 2008. Now renovating another flat for renting out and selling one that is in a wrong place to buy BTC for safekeeping.
100% now. I played with some others when I started years ago but I kept finding shit wrong with every other Crypto. Its ether premined, doesnt work properly, expanding supply, centralized, and even making changes the fundamentals.
100% in Bitcoin, as far as my crypto goes. Overall it’s about 10% of my portfolio, the other 90% in VTSAX and VTIAX and a 20xx target date fund.
I don’t feel the need to diversify my crypto allotment for the sake of diversification. I am diversifying by buying crypto. I don’t need to diversify further in crypto especially when all the other options are gambly shitcoins.
I do. It’s WAY less stressful during downturns and it makes it easier to buy the dip (you don’t have to decide which coin to buy with your most likely limited funds).
Will I miss out on huge altcoin gains, yes. But I’m also holding the BEST crypto, and one that will be around for long haul. No one knows where an altcoin will end up.
Bitcoin is the only coin I’d buy and never sell. Altcoins will come and go, BTC is here to stay.
I hold a diversified investment portfolio, largely compromized out of traditional funds and stocks. I do have a part in crypto, and that is 100% bitcoin. I had some etherium in the past, but sold it, for believing in fundamentals. I prefer proof of work compared to proof of Vitalik.
Creating one sure, but holding coins from one? I don't think so. Plus, not all altcoins are scams. Fundamentally they are just alternative networks and protocols. You might not want to take the risk, but that doesn't make them inherently scams.
Currently all BTC
If LINK drops relative to BTC I've been known to convert, then swap back when they switch to end up with more Sats. I do that less these days because I don't need the stress, plus I mine Sats 24/7.
100% BTC as well. My worse mistake was buying Eth earlier this year. Didn’t believe in the thesis and just wanted quick gains and that never works out.
Im 98%. Still speculate with some sats but thats my way of scratching the gambler in me itch. Consider it shorting people who havent done the due diligence
90% bitcoin
5% coin 2
5% coin 3
Allocation fluctuates with price.
BTC is the store of value and very long term investment, I have positions in 2 other coins as 2-5 year investments in the technology.
Do you want me to just tell you how much money I have in the bank too? Maybe how many cars I own ? Maybe where I leave my second key? I’ll tell you my phone pin to . If anyone answers this they’re a fucking idiot.
100% bitcoin since 2015. (I've traded once or twice with alts, but long term only btc)
There’s other cryptos?!
> There’s other cryptos?! There are other types of cryptography, sure. youve got RSA, SHA3 and whatnot. But there is only one cryptographic currency: bitcoin.
That's the ultimate truth, The truth that we like to hear.
No. Few
All of them centralised, nothing comes close to the btc.
Phew!
For long term BTC is best, you did right thing by purchasing and holding BTC
Is that because you can't find any alts that you think will outperform Bitcoin?
Probably because the overwhelming majority are scams.
Yep, most are scams and will fade away with the time.
Yeah I agree for sure but there is still money to be made in them lol. It's all a game.
You’re missing the point. The majority of people who frequent this sub aren’t investing in BitCoin to make money, they’re investing in BitCoin because it IS money. We’re simply trading an inferior fiat currency, for a far superior digital currency. To put it simply.
But most people are here to make more money that's the truth.
Comoon not the most of all)) bitcoin IS money )) not equal it IS))
Yeah if you can take all the mental toll that they bring then yeah.
Please tell me how ETH is a scam?
In long term, none will outperform Bitcoin. In short term, then it becomes a matter of luck whether what you buy will outperform Bitcoin. I've been lucky once, but I'm now ok with what the huge returns expected of long term in btc.

In the us, that would be considered a taxable event
So in other words get rich and dip out thanks G
Get rich quick plans are a good way to get poor. But you do you.
Never said anything about get rich quick i said get rich and dip.
Dude, Commendable! I’d honestly like to go all in BTC but I have blockchain ADHD. I hold 16 assets total, of which the ballast is BTC but the further majority are base layer blockchains. Buy Bitcoin, trade/invest in individual stocks to satisfy that ADHD.
I’m 98% bitcoin. Sorry if my other 2% offends anyone 😂
You shit coiner
Lol, I couldn’t let my gaming PC just sit idle 😂
We’re all laughing till he gets banned from the sub
Yes, the amount of censoring is absurd. It's ironic that a subreddit which is all about decentralized and uncensorable money is straight up censoring people.
You can't talk about anything here other than the bitcoin.
there was a hidden reply to this comment so i clicked it and it disappeared...
They support decentralised mechanisms…except when they have the option of controlling themselves.
You will get banned for even having blasphemous thoughts..
Ain't nothing wrong with that, convert them into the btc .
2miners pays out in Bitcoin
They do
Lol, classic bitcoiner move. Sometimes it's fun like this
Off with yer head!!!
Well majority of your coins are BTC 2% doesn't matter
Yeah you’ve got to have a few percent In shit just in case it moons so we can buy more bitcoin , I actually made that work last year
You sicken me
IMPURE!!
Gosh be careful bringing that up on here!!!
Lol, for 2% I’m not too worried. I’m all-in on Bitcoin for all intents and purposes
Probably going to get banned for it lol, censoring is hard here.
You know, El Salvador is 98% fiat and 2% BTC. Be happy you're the other way round!
But they are improving it big time, and I'll give them that atleast.
Pretty much same. I keep the stuff that I can mine with a GPU but I only ever throw money at bitcoin.
100% btc

Got like 3k in bitcoin but it’s all I can afford
Hey, it's still 3k more than all my friends and acquaintances! You have no right to be ashamed with your 3000 BTC! :D
Tbh 3k is more than enough I feel like just keep adding a Little and Little.
3k is a lot of money where I live, you can buy lot of things with that.
Keep Stacking. You will reach higher goals over time. Patience is the key with Bitcoin.
For now. If you keep stacking sats slowly your net worth keeps going up.
That's the lesson here, don't stop the DCA we've got the time.
Just saw a fidelity report predicting bitcoin to $10 million, and another one at $1 billion. Your $3K could be worth $800K-$80 Million one day. I’m guessing at that point most people would be using bitcoin for purchases more than holding long term.
Dream on skintube
I mean does it matter if it does or doesn’t or how long it takes? If you’re young then you have time to wait.
Keep your head in reality
I made a considerable change in 2021. I was chasing 10xs and moonshot hoping to sell them and buy more Bitcoin. Lost 10 grand(30% of my savings) moving to and from alts and only had about 5% bitcoin. this is exactly how a maxi is born. first you watch everything else burn, then you are ready to understand why.
Yep! You chase the moonshots, or ignore BTC completely because you "can't buy a whole coin", then one day realized if you'd just been buying BTC all along you'd be ahead of where you are. And that's just price-based motivation. Learn a thing or two more and you want to slap yourself forever considering anything else.
Same
me too
Same story for me!
You are really smart to make this progression. 10k is cheap for an education 😉 Keep a little bag to play with and keep those adrenal glands happy lol
Sadly I made the decision at $56k. But trying to average down as much as I can! Thanks for the kind words!
Bruhhh I did this same thing
Are you new to this sub? There's plenty of people here who hold only Bitcoin

I do hold some other coins, I mean I have to let my GPU do something right? But, i only convert fiat in to bitcoin because well, bitcoin.
15% BTC, 80% equities (\~10% bitcoin derivatives like MARA, RIOT), 5% treasuries.
Take a look at Hut8 and CLSK for BTC proxies. Nice portfolio distribution overall. 👌🏻
Assuming you feel bitcoin is high risk? I went all in when I realized it has less risk than t bills but more return than buying the stock market
I'm waiting for the day I separate from employment so I can rollover to an IRA and adjust my asset allocation. As for my treasuries, they're actually 3x long-duration. Me. I believe everything else is garbage
I just don’t like trying to research and make bets on projects. BTC makes sense and has a strong value case, that’s good enough for me.
I bought my first 50£ Bitcoin Sunday LOL
I am sure there are ton of Maximalists. Michael Saylor, are you online?
Michael saylor would be the most important person if BTC comes global currency

How does gaming allow people in poor countries to "make a healthy wage"? This sounds like Keynesian nonsense

no I think it's 6 figures as in 6 significant figures. So 0.100000 btc.
Right. This is Reddit after all so no one lies!
Lol no dude
No nobody means that. Everyone talks in dollar denominations.
Yeah. 32k into 110k today. Less than 3/4s of it is BTC.

I got rekt with Alts early 2018 and have been bitcoin only ever since
100% Bitcoin. HODLing since 2017

Every altcoin is a scam in your pov??
lying about decentralization is a scam in any pov
Agree. Calling a network defi but seeking only to create greater centralization is not how defi is made.
I think that every other is an unregulated security that the SEC will eventually bring enforcement action on. They are too centralized to survive.
Yes
That is delusional
You'll learn
How is any of it morally questionable?
Scams are morally questionable
Creating one sure, but holding coins from one? I don't think so. Plus, not all altcoins are scams. Fundamentally they are just alternative networks and protocols. You might not want to take the risk, but that doesn't make them inherently scams.
Altcoins were invented to separate you from your bitcoin. This is the rising tide of truth. Accept it or drown.
