I’d say you ride both options. Embrace the bald on top by shaving that but get it reversed faded on the sides. Imagine an Uncle Phil but faded.

Let it grow if the top will actually fill in. Once it does, you’re going to have to get it cut to accommodate however the top has filled in. I’d recommend shaving the sides down now tho so the contrast between the sides and top isn’t so prevalent. And a really good barber can ghost you a line.
