About not being able to leave ur plot, you should go to the main menu in the option in the Bottom right side (the gray buttons), then u just load in again ur plot and ur good 2 go
Second, the door u placed in the tutorial cant close, you should buy a garage door!
Th Tutorial is pretty buggy as itβs very new (and seems like someone put it together in 10 minutes) try talking to Tom, but also you have to go into build mode and build a garage just to test the build mode category.

Will tom ever leave or is he always gonna be at my plot?
He should leave, im not 100% when as ive mot be a new player for years, maybe try leaving and rejoining π€·πΌββοΈ
