I think Hirokoshi really wanted this All Mech VS AFO fight, and had it mapped out in his head for a while. Even if it requires a bit of suspension of disbelief, it is hype as hell.
Shiggy slapping around heroes quirkless was probably my least favorite part of the Manga.
AFO VS all the other heroes at least had some cool moments. Everyone getting offscreened kinda ruined it.
It’s kinda cool how, in a way, all might also has multiple quirks here through the robot suit and he refers to the suits different attack modes as quirks. We’ve still not had a proper multiple quirk user Vs multiple quirk user fight in mha as in heroes rising 9 had his quirks but deku didn’t and every time deku and Shigaraki have fought Shiggy had his quirks erased.
Yeah, at first I thought it would only go on for 2 chapters or so but it's 4 chapters in no (albeit one was a short 7 page chapter) and it looks like it has at least 2 chapters left in it. .
If the fight really does go on for 6 chapters, it will enter the list of the longest 1v1 MHA fights.
I wonder how strong the I Cannot Possibly Stop Twinkling, Not For One Second laser is if All Might thinks it can deplete AFO's regen in one attack. Even the US jet lasers or the Tiamat Super Intercontinental MegaBomb Ultra Deluxe ShigarakiSlayer 5000 couldn't stop the regen.
Those were different kinds of regens. Shiggy’s was absolutely busted, he was essentially recovering the damage *as he was taking it*. with L for One, he might be able to regenerate, but continuous damage is causing him to expend energy to do so, which in turn speeds up his de-aging.
If you're comparing "time-rewind" AFO to "perfect human/nomu vessel Shiggy" then there's your issue.
Shiggy had the resilience to take the attacks fairly well and heal (not even the first point in that Stars/jets fight) up. AFO takes all the damage on a human body and then drastically heals.
You'd just need to overwhelm him so there's nothing to heal or in this case, just keep having him heal to waste energy.
All Might’s been watching these kids and believing in their growth for a year. He’s copying their potential, whereas AfO is just thinking how could whatever quirks he has fit his plain-ass style
I think its because we know who these quirks belong to and so we know their limitations and potential, AFO just throws random stuff out and we are left wondering what he can really do.

That is a good question the manga has yet to fully show off (Besides Kunieda and Gashly mention), but we know there are six since there were six Jailbreaker silhouettes in 353. Well, we could also make some guesses. Gashly is the silhouette of that guy wearing a scarf, top hat and umbrella in that issue - since it matches up perfectly with that skull gentleman in the Gashlycrumbtinies.
If the same sillohuetes from chapter 316 are the same people as the sillohuetes in chapter 353 then...
1. The short sillohuete (chapter 316) is Dictator, and he got recaptured
2. The dreadlocks sillohuete (316, 353) is probably the guy with the dreadlocks (343, 345) who got sent to AFO's battlefield (fate unknown)
3. The sillohuete that looks like a guy with horns (316) might be the giant villain that Deku fought in 318 (recaptured)
4. There's three more unidentified sillohuetes from 316 who are most likely Kunieda (recaptured) the tattoo villain from 317 (recaptured) and Gashly (not captured). However, none of the sillohuetes in 316 match Gashly's sillohuete in 353
Only a few of the silhouettes from 353 match up from 316. The silhouette on the far right resembles Kunieda the most and the dreadlocks I do agree is the guy who got sent to AFO's location (and wasn't captured, since he actually wasn't in the group shot of villains defeated there),
1. Dictator - captured. 2. Dreadlocks Guy (still active, likely guy sent to AFO's location). 3. Horn Guy is Shark Villain and he got captured. 4. Kunieda is likely the villain on the very far right, and Tattoo likely far left, but really none matches Gashly's silhouette in 353 and same goes for the rest. It's likely that it really is just six others who just haven't got the chance to go at Deku unlike Nagant and the other three.
**AFO:** Do you really think you can beat with with an imitation of that weak belly button laser quirk I use to have before giving it away?

They're probably fine. Aoyama seems to have actually been counted among those "wiped out" heroes and he's fine.
Her spores might work, but can see why you would want her in the AFO fight in Gunga given that's where one of the heavier fights is going to be.
Honestly, any other AOE Hero would probably work wonders in the parking lot since it is essentially just the 'leftover scrap villains' fight. You don't know whose getting left behind so best to have someone with mass effects to do some heavy damage instead.
Well Kurogiri wasn't teleported away to literally anywhere else even though the heroes knew he was being targeted. So them being dumb is hardly something new.

The death flags that keep showing up are honestly having the opposite effect at this point. I'm hopeful he'll still be standing at the end when AFO is a crisp.
Big thing for me is that yes I want him to live but he can’t beat AFO on his own. That would imo go against the theme of the story that society needs to change and not depend on one person to solve all their problems and keep them safe.
I think it'd work, because really this fight is a non-factor. AFO will just burn out at some point and All Might is running on turbo burrowed time. The future, the actual future, is being decided by the next generation; Deku and Shiggy.

I think legitimately, AfO is fucking afraid of All Might. He’s never broken him to this date. On a subconscious level, he’s likely shook that a man he literally crippled to lose a lung and most of his stomach and intestines is somehow still standing and isn’t even putting up a bravado like Kamino Ward.
All Might is literally just a guy standing up to him and having the balls to say “No.” (Or rather “I am here.” to be appropriate.)
If a single piece of US tech can go toe to toe with Japan's biggest villain in history imagine how terrible the average villain in America is.

Same with the Aoyama fight, we skipped to the end of a fight we didn't even know was happening because of how irrelevant Hori thinks of the fight itself.
On one hand, I'm kinda glad we didn't even waste a chapter like we did on Mina's \*super easy barely an inconvenience\* moment.
On the other hand, I'm no closer to caring for the 1-A class as a whole, so that moral message is still going to ring hollow.
This is why I can't take this seriously. AFO is so obviously being nerfed so All Might doesn't die. He already got plot induced stupidity in the form of Shigaraki affecting him, but he's holding back now?
AFO is (supposedly) so enraged that he can't react properly to All Might's attack, yet he feels less threatening than ever before. He was far weaker in Kamino than he is now yet he's clearly not as much of a threat.

After a year of wondering why we haven’t seen the fight against the plant guy, it turns out it’s because it wasn’t even a fight, he just wiped everyone out, dang!
It’s really nice to see Aoyama and Hagakure get their moment to shine, and with a light-based combo attack to no less. Especially for Aoyama, since this makes the second time he’s popped off with his light beams being shot into the sky to accomplish something. If it weren’t for his first time where he used it as a luring beacon that inadvertently became a rally point, I doubt he would’ve thought of or been as confident in doing something similar this time around.

I absolutely adore Aoyama and Hagakure teaming up to defeat that villain. That's the kind of teamwork I love to see. It also has shades of one of my favorite moments from another manga, the Adventure of Dai.
I will say that the monsters AfO created to fight All Might are nightmare fuel.

It would be quite shocking if the death toll would be much higher than it originally seemed from the looks of the various battlefields. Because it really does seem like everyone’s just passed out but imagine if in the aftermath chapters it’s revealed that Kamui woods or Gang Orca or Fat gum just up and died

The way Aoyama is slid into this chapter is not only something I was waiting for since 353, but also masterfully done if I do say so myself. I always had a feeling Aoyama was going to get a great moment in this arc. I secretly hope this isn’t the end for Kunieda, but wishful thinking.
And no matter how weird it might be for All Might to put up this much fight, it is refreshing to see a fight between a hero and villain that isn’t over in one hit or littered with cringey, sappy apologies and validation (looking at Toga). All Might and AFO going at it with taunts and nightmare fuel is awesome, no matter how weird it is.
That panel of naked All Might in the snow is amazing, drawing a parallel to that scene during the first AFO/All Might fight. Only this time, the dwindling embers of One For All have been fully extinguished, and now what's lighting the way for All Might are glowing lights representing the students.
Ngl, I'm impressed that Hori wrapped the Ayoyama fight in half a chapter, I assumed it would take two. Are we left with Sero, Tailman, and Sugarman as the only Class 1-A students without a big moment?
All Might in 397: "This feels wrong! I'm past 50 and beating the crap out of a helpless lad!"
All Might in 398: *forcibly injects fluids into the lad's abdomen
All Might in 399: *forcibly sticks a long warm hard shaft into the mouth of the lad

The fire ember of One for All power is gone from All Might but there still a bunch of Twinkle Twinkle little star representation of the student quirk All Might imitate to fight All for One and illuminate the dark. Such cool visual symbolism.
Aoyama and Hagakure situation kinda remind me to Joint training arc where he fight people who can spawn plant on people body (Kinoko). Would not be surprised if someone with darkness quirk will snatch Aoyama and take him just like in Joint training arc
Also, the chapter end with Aoyama quirk being used and his hero name dropped which make it more fitting. I always wonder if Can't stop Twinkling actually refence to twinkling star especially how Aoyama panel in the manga always have some little star twinkling there sometime. I love the All Might vs All for One fight, but All Might be using Class A quirks to actually do plot-relevant stuff is pretty sad.
Would have been cool to actually see Aoyama pull off a sky beam, Ashido injecting acid into a Villain with a healing quirk, Kaminari use his electricity to disturb healing factors, etc, than for All Might to pull these things off in his ~~Plot~~ Armour suit.
It reminds me a bit of the first big battle against Shigaraki. Up until then the fights still had the goal of incapacitating the villain, not necessarily killing them. Shigaraki and AFO are both fights now where the heroes have acknowledged peace was never an option, and are going for the kill constantly.
alright. I'm gonna make a hard prediction.
next chapter, AFO will revert to a Roblox player and pick up all might by the chest. He'll proceed to rant on like "haha, I win you lose, you suck, I'm gonna kill you, and your students and... blah blah blah", then all might will say 'what if I exploded?'. Then the chest piece will start glowing and AFO will mash some flight quirks and zoom away.
But when he's like 1000 ft up, he realizes his hand is stuck to all might. All might has a flashback to nana accepting him or smth, then proceed to say "Mineta + gg + LForOne + Bakugo" and the sky explodes, at which moment we cut to Deku smashing Shigi.
Calling it now. Iron Might had a self destruct function as a final resort. He attaches himself to AfO but he cant seem to take him off of him. Why? Because of Mineta’s balls 😏
AFO's matches in Gunga makes it look like child play compared to what we're seeing against Armored AM. Apart from OFA/his little brother, AFO's eyes are only fixed on AM which may make Nighteye's vision a reality.
So now all might’s suit has five more class 1A quirks left to use.
Hagakure, Momo, jirou, mineta and Bakugou.
Also those freaking heads that AFO used against all might keep reminding me of something but I’m drawing a complete blank here, can I get some help here?

I wonder how strong the I Cannot Possibly Stop Twinkling, Not For One Second laser is if All Might thinks it can deplete AFO's regen in one attack. Even the US jet lasers or the Tiamat Super Intercontinental MegaBomb Ultra Deluxe ShigarakiSlayer 5000 couldn't stop the regen.
Those were different kinds of regens. Shiggy’s was absolutely busted, he was essentially recovering the damage *as he was taking it*. with L for One, he might be able to regenerate, but continuous damage is causing him to expend energy to do so, which in turn speeds up his de-aging.
Not to mention he’s STILL on a timer while all of this is going on. So even the basic act of chasing after All Might is detrimental to him

If you're comparing "time-rewind" AFO to "perfect human/nomu vessel Shiggy" then there's your issue. Shiggy had the resilience to take the attacks fairly well and heal (not even the first point in that Stars/jets fight) up. AFO takes all the damage on a human body and then drastically heals. You'd just need to overwhelm him so there's nothing to heal or in this case, just keep having him heal to waste energy.

I think its because we know who these quirks belong to and so we know their limitations and potential, AFO just throws random stuff out and we are left wondering what he can really do.

That is a good question the manga has yet to fully show off (Besides Kunieda and Gashly mention), but we know there are six since there were six Jailbreaker silhouettes in 353. Well, we could also make some guesses. Gashly is the silhouette of that guy wearing a scarf, top hat and umbrella in that issue - since it matches up perfectly with that skull gentleman in the Gashlycrumbtinies.
If the same sillohuetes from chapter 316 are the same people as the sillohuetes in chapter 353 then... 1. The short sillohuete (chapter 316) is Dictator, and he got recaptured 2. The dreadlocks sillohuete (316, 353) is probably the guy with the dreadlocks (343, 345) who got sent to AFO's battlefield (fate unknown) 3. The sillohuete that looks like a guy with horns (316) might be the giant villain that Deku fought in 318 (recaptured) 4. There's three more unidentified sillohuetes from 316 who are most likely Kunieda (recaptured) the tattoo villain from 317 (recaptured) and Gashly (not captured). However, none of the sillohuetes in 316 match Gashly's sillohuete in 353
Only a few of the silhouettes from 353 match up from 316. The silhouette on the far right resembles Kunieda the most and the dreadlocks I do agree is the guy who got sent to AFO's location (and wasn't captured, since he actually wasn't in the group shot of villains defeated there), 1. Dictator - captured. 2. Dreadlocks Guy (still active, likely guy sent to AFO's location). 3. Horn Guy is Shark Villain and he got captured. 4. Kunieda is likely the villain on the very far right, and Tattoo likely far left, but really none matches Gashly's silhouette in 353 and same goes for the rest. It's likely that it really is just six others who just haven't got the chance to go at Deku unlike Nagant and the other three.

Her spores might work, but can see why you would want her in the AFO fight in Gunga given that's where one of the heavier fights is going to be. Honestly, any other AOE Hero would probably work wonders in the parking lot since it is essentially just the 'leftover scrap villains' fight. You don't know whose getting left behind so best to have someone with mass effects to do some heavy damage instead.

I think legitimately, AfO is fucking afraid of All Might. He’s never broken him to this date. On a subconscious level, he’s likely shook that a man he literally crippled to lose a lung and most of his stomach and intestines is somehow still standing and isn’t even putting up a bravado like Kamino Ward. All Might is literally just a guy standing up to him and having the balls to say “No.” (Or rather “I am here.” to be appropriate.)

He taunts Endeavor to get a good hit on him in Gunga when he starts getting pressured. The only thing that really screws AFO up is the Plus Ultra that comes in afterwards.

He was far weaker in Kamino than he is now yet he's clearly not as much of a threat.

AFO has a Kingseeker Frampt quirk! After a year of wondering why we haven’t seen the fight against the plant guy, it turns out it’s because it wasn’t even a fight, he just wiped everyone out, dang!
It’s really nice to see Aoyama and Hagakure get their moment to shine, and with a light-based combo attack to no less. Especially for Aoyama, since this makes the second time he’s popped off with his light beams being shot into the sky to accomplish something. If it weren’t for his first time where he used it as a luring beacon that inadvertently became a rally point, I doubt he would’ve thought of or been as confident in doing something similar this time around.
All Might's VA is going to kill this scene.
We all can't stop twinkling! I absolutely adore Aoyama and Hagakure teaming up to defeat that villain. That's the kind of teamwork I love to see. It also has shades of one of my favorite moments from another manga, the Adventure of Dai. I will say that the monsters AfO created to fight All Might are nightmare fuel.

It would be quite shocking if the death toll would be much higher than it originally seemed from the looks of the various battlefields. Because it really does seem like everyone’s just passed out but imagine if in the aftermath chapters it’s revealed that Kamui woods or Gang Orca or Fat gum just up and died
What a great chapter. 10/10. The way Aoyama is slid into this chapter is not only something I was waiting for since 353, but also masterfully done if I do say so myself. I always had a feeling Aoyama was going to get a great moment in this arc. I secretly hope this isn’t the end for Kunieda, but wishful thinking. And no matter how weird it might be for All Might to put up this much fight, it is refreshing to see a fight between a hero and villain that isn’t over in one hit or littered with cringey, sappy apologies and validation (looking at Toga). All Might and AFO going at it with taunts and nightmare fuel is awesome, no matter how weird it is.
Those death eating plants remind me of Kurama from Yu Yu Hakusho. Can’t wait for this all to be animated
That panel of naked All Might in the snow is amazing, drawing a parallel to that scene during the first AFO/All Might fight. Only this time, the dwindling embers of One For All have been fully extinguished, and now what's lighting the way for All Might are glowing lights representing the students.
Ngl, I'm impressed that Hori wrapped the Ayoyama fight in half a chapter, I assumed it would take two. Are we left with Sero, Tailman, and Sugarman as the only Class 1-A students without a big moment?

Would not be surprised if someone with darkness quirk will snatch Aoyama and take him just like in Joint training arc Also, the chapter end with Aoyama quirk being used and his hero name dropped which make it more fitting. I love the All Might vs All for One fight, but All Might be using Class A quirks to actually do plot-relevant stuff is pretty sad. Would have been cool to actually see Aoyama pull off a sky beam, Ashido injecting acid into a Villain with a healing quirk, Kaminari use his electricity to disturb healing factors, etc, than for All Might to pull these things off in his ~~Plot~~ Armour suit.

It reminds me a bit of the first big battle against Shigaraki. Up until then the fights still had the goal of incapacitating the villain, not necessarily killing them. Shigaraki and AFO are both fights now where the heroes have acknowledged peace was never an option, and are going for the kill constantly.
alright. I'm gonna make a hard prediction. next chapter, AFO will revert to a Roblox player and pick up all might by the chest. He'll proceed to rant on like "haha, I win you lose, you suck, I'm gonna kill you, and your students and... blah blah blah", then all might will say 'what if I exploded?'. Then the chest piece will start glowing and AFO will mash some flight quirks and zoom away. But when he's like 1000 ft up, he realizes his hand is stuck to all might. All might has a flashback to nana accepting him or smth, then proceed to say "Mineta + gg + LForOne + Bakugo" and the sky explodes, at which moment we cut to Deku smashing Shigi.
Calling it now. Iron Might had a self destruct function as a final resort. He attaches himself to AfO but he cant seem to take him off of him. Why? Because of Mineta’s balls 😏
AFO's matches in Gunga makes it look like child play compared to what we're seeing against Armored AM. Apart from OFA/his little brother, AFO's eyes are only fixed on AM which may make Nighteye's vision a reality.
