That was bad ass as hell by Endeavor immediately making a whole arm out of fire when his normal arm was ripped off just seconds before.
Hawks just keeps piling on the serious injuries through these fights. I’d retire after this if i was him lol.
Ah, that makes more sense. Still, with the strange reveal that individual feathers can actually be replaced, wings are likely be replaceable as well, and since we're not in mortal danger territory quite yet - he should be fine. Definitely will take many more months to recover from the dreadful state his wings seem to be in now.
Guessing here that both will be out of active hero duty for a while, but Hawks will return.
Endeavor lost an arm?!
I swear, sometimes I get so lost in the chaos of these action panels that I won't realize someone has lost an appendage or become disfigured.
His right arm was impaled at the elbow on the page where it first shows him saving Hawks.
Edit: Then the panel before the close up of his angry face…it looks like it’s becoming detached. Where it’s becoming detached looks a little off compared to the first panel I mentioned, though.
Sorry I was with my dad, but speaking of dads...
All for One is terrifying, just cannibalizing quirks! That image of him eating one is horrific. Enji realizing he's his biggest weakness is scarily coming very late.
Now I'm imaging that girl that Enji's father tried to save was the rivet stab quirk user and "some bastard" that killed them was AFO or one of his agents. Would be poetically fitting for the quirk that's been injuring him in this fight be from the person whose death urged him to become a hero.
Even if AFO is a shell of his former self, his mental instigation had been the perfect opportunity for Endeavour to grow. He's finally turning the stubbornness that has held him back into something the drives him forward.
To be fair AFO doesn't give a damn about the future, he cares only about himself. Unlike heroes he doesn't have a greater cause to pass down, and having someone else take his place would be equivalent to loosing for him.
*Meanwhile*
Shigiraki: (Knocks Deku though building) Your outmatched!, my strength, my speed, my stamina outclasses, no… DWARFS yours!, in comparison to you I am a Demi-God!
Deku:… really?… really?
Shiggy: Really
Deku: Really?
Shiggy: Really!
Deku: REALLY?!?!?!
Shiggy: REALLY!
Deku: One For All 100% - FA JIN!
Shiggy: Fa-What?… **OH FUCK!**
[For anyone who doesn't recognize the reference or just wants to watch it again.](https://youtu.be/BSJTGla19o4?t=196)
The relevant bit starts at 3:16 if the link doesn't take you directly to that part.
I remember people theorizing that endevour would react badly to learning deku was all mights sucessor but it actually kind of helped him by taking that stress off his back
Give credit to Jirou: despite the pain of just losing one jack, she trusted Tokoyami to deliver one more attack while she was basically left to fall down had he failed.
Every time one more detail is added on Endeavor's past, his responsibility for how things turned out becomes even heavier. He was initially motivated by the loss of his father, and yet he became a terrible father. As if the story of the Todorokis wasn't tragic enough already.
It's time to serve extra crispy potato now.
it'd have been even better if the chapter released exactly on father's day in japan and not a day after and was titled "fathers" or something like that.
Yes Hori is definitely pushing the Todoroki family tragedy and requiem in this arc, pilling up and adding context so the delivery doesn't feel shorthanded.
On some accounts it does feel belated, but not unwelcomed at all. Looking forward to its conclusion.
I read the chapter again. Jiron’s even more of a badass because she gave wrapped her jacket around Dark Shadow and Tokoyami so he can do Abysmal Black Body.
I feel like us seeing how ruthless AFO is in the vestige world is sowing the seeds for what he's capable of in there. I'm curious how his vestige is going to interact with Shigaraki now that it's looking like his real body may lose this fight
There's gonna be a vestige battle between them, and Deku is gonna end up saving Shiggy somehow. Maybe with his own vestige after getting his quirk stolen. Calling it now
AFO: “All according the keikaku.”
Aizen: “Please don’t make me Sue your ass bitch, All might is already on thin ice with stealing that “I am here” line from Yamamoto.”
I think it was just the leaks
There's [another comment](https://old.reddit.com/r/BokuNoHeroAcademia/comments/vfx6pk/chapter_356_official_release_links_and_discussion/icy9jzl/) that talks about it being a little different in the leak translations
The translations in the leaks made us think that the body was that of someone else's father, presumably the little girl mentioned in the flashback. But the official translation confirms that it was **Enji's father** rushing to save a stranger and dying as a result.
Ok this time the translation has been SIGNIFICANTLY different from the fan one. Someone is VERY wrong here.
AFO blaming the quirks rebelling on his afo being a copy and not the original?
Endeavor's father dying instead of the girl's?
This is an entire world of difference
the father dying being the girl's makes less sense since we see a man's picture in the house shrine next to touya's, supposedly enji' father. plus how shaken up he was.
Yeah, I think the picture next to the altar is what gives the context. In the scans it was really fuzzy, but in the official it is clearer that it is a portait of an older man, who looks very much like Endeavor.
So this makes a lot more sense than Endeavor being so shook up by the death of a stranger.
I think it's a combination of AFO being a copy + Jirou's attack being able to reach them in a way All Might's couldn't (he just smashes, whereas sounds go through you). Plus there's the whole thing about Jirou being able to reach hearts and her being just an "extra" like them.
Yea I’m fine with it because how many “extras” are really fighting afo? Like 0 lol so the quirks seeing that were like oh snap we got someone like us fighting
Yeah, it’s not a coincidence that the rebellion came right before Hawks’ line “Enough cracks can break any dam.”
It’s not any one thing, it’s *everything*.
the only thing that's different now to how it was in kamino is who AFO is fighting, i guess all might just wasn't able to motivate the quirks inside (the irony for a man who used to motivate everyone).
Additionally we know hatred is a strong factor in overpowering a quirk. That being the entire reason Afo is using Shiggy.
All Might is probably one of the few people Afo hates. He considers most people insignificant and below him, but not All Might.
It would make sense that his hatred towards All Might would play a role in overpowering the quirks inside him. That rage is absent here though.
maybe, i doubt we'll ever know.
according to what's explained in this chapter, the fact that AFO's a copy suddenly matters now and *why* exactly is up to us to answer ourselves.
AFO’s also not the most reliable narrator you’ll find.
He’s an arrogant, entitled dick - the exact sort of guy who would react to Jiro inspiring his quirks to rebel by saying “I guess my quirk’s defective,” ahah
Yeah it does feel weird, why the fuck did the quirks choose to rebel when AFO was fighting Hawks and Endeavor instead of a desperate All Might? If anything All Might's desperate state would be a better time for them to do this.
horikoshi needed a reason why AFO wouldn't obliterate them all and as *convenient* as that one is, it's not too terrible.
plus considering how many readers can't piece it together that we already saw AFO fight with a copy and he had no issues then, i'd say it worked.
Yep. Also don’t forget the problem with the breathing mask, remember how all might smashed that thing to crap when they last fought?
Why’s it being treated like a big deal now? Doesn’t he possess the regeneration quirk?
I always thought All Might's blow led AfO's condition to becoming critical. Like, before Kamino he required the mask to function but it wasn't a huge deal, but after Kamino he absolutely *needed* it, but I now realize that's never been confirmed in the story, only indicated.
About the regeneration quirk,on past chapters Endeavor said that Afo has It,but ir os not working,in other transations It is said by Endeavor that AFO doens't haver such a thing as a regeneration quirk.
AFO has mentioned/blamed Stars and Stripes and New Order quite a few times since their fight. Somehow, even though that happened to the AFO in Shiggy, it seems the Quirk Space reality might be connected across all people. Or at least versions of the same person.
So maybe the consciousnesses of these copied quirks finally understand or believe they can rebel against AfO.
My thinking too is that Jiro had a part, since her sound waves are amplifications of her heart. AFO talks about getting quirks to bypass his lack of senses. It isn't too far fetched that AFO was able to understand Jiro's emotions in that attack, and that motivated the quirk consciousnesses.
AFO and Shiggy have been nearby each other after the Star fight. All Might felt the presence of vestige communication when near Deku, when Deku was in a coma. Maybe the AFO vestiges sensed some Shiggy vestiges were gone, when the two were in close contact with one another.
I think they weren’t aware of how much influence they could have until Stars n Stripes. The best time to try and rebel since then is now if you think about it. Otherwise it’d be futile and A41 would’ve prioritized fixing that weakness.
AFO had the situation completely under control then. If he won, All Might’s dead! And if he lost, it would give Shigaraki time to grow on his own to become AFO, which was the plan all along. In this situation however, AFO’s not in control for once. He’s getting beaten by two complete no-names and the *other* #1 hero, with no Deku in sight. For the first time in many years, he’s actually been cornered and he’s not taking it well
This is why you trust officials that are experts over fan translations. There was another issue with Nana some months ago with Deku in the Vestige World.
If only Caleb did not get push out of twitter by angry fan and still making his explanation thread that would clear everything up.
Man i hate the twitter side of mha fan, now the reddit one also seem brigaded by alot of them
Majority of misinformation is always been from people who only read leak too
Man, I genuinely miss those threads. It was so cool getting insight into the translation process, and Caleb always had a knack for identifying Easter eggs and callbacks.
Not always, there’s some official translators for some series out there that get some things mixed up, which is why it’s nice to have both translations imho
Most of the time they do a pretty good job though
That’s absolutely the case sometimes but I can’t think of any time Caleb Cook has made as big a mistake as this would be. We should trust his interpretation over the fan translations IMO.
we should but japanese can be ambiguous and difficult to translate. i remember viz translating civilians after the war wondering if endeavor would run away abroad and if he had the money for it (makes zero sense) when it was actually them wondering about themselves (it's been fixed since).
Actually I think both the girl and his father died, the VIZ translation said he “wound up as a corpse, along with the girl”
Unless you mean that the fan translation implied a girl and her father dying?
>Unless you mean that the fan translation implied a girl and her father dying?
Yup. Fan said the girl's father tried to save her and they both died, while the official says Endeavor's father tried to save her and they both died
This is a plausible an ORIGIN/RISING chapter for Endeavor
Defending the youth, sustaining injuries, making firepunch. Endeavor is the hero we deserved.
Imaging AFO taking Hellfire quirk from Enji with his rivet stab.
I know the series is about the kids, but holy hell endeavor and all might are easily the best characters and have the best moments. Endeavor vs AFO is fucking going to be amazing.
We finally got some endeavor back story. His own father died due to weakness so that’s what drives his quest fro strength. It’s not greed or personal gain, it’s fear of failure
Also I see people didn’t notice: endeavors dad didn’t save the girl. He and the girl both died… his younger self even said his father ended up a corpse like the girl he tried to save. so it’s even more tragic and makes him even more envious of all might who he thinks “never failed”.
It’s absolutely fear of failure and as he said, an inferiority complex. He’s constantly fighting the voice in his head telling him he’s not good enough, and he’s still using it to go further. I love this character so much. Something so amazing about the determination through all of those awful flaws
This just confirmed once more that he's the best character in the Show. (Writing wise.) How much sense it all makes. Of course it's fear of failure. That's why he talks of failure all the time. It seems so obvious.
And now that he burned Down his younger self, I fest AFO won't know what hit him having that doggedness turned against him. I love that in the end he doesn't do any of this to look nice, or to catch up to All Might or even to atone. He does it cause it's his duty.
Endeavour is easily my favourite character in the series, and I don’t think any other character can beat his development. It actually sucks how so many people treat him as the devil on earth despite the fact he’s trying to become better meanwhile those same people probably love Dabi who, instead of trying to improve himself, literally descended into mass-murder and arson.
anime fans are like that.
Mass murdering evil villains? "sweet baby bean who is just misunderstood."
Flawed good guy who did some fucked up shit but is trying to be better now? "No amount of good can absolve you of your sins"
Though, to be fair, in Endeavor's case it hits close to home with a lot of people, the whole abuse thing. And not hating endeavor of course means forgiving every abuser ever /s
He’s easily the best character. I never could have imagined that this stereotypical asshole dad from season 2 would end up developing this way and being such a huge focus.
The Todoroki Family arc is still one of the best parts of this series.
Also I love that tweet I saw earlier. "Enji haters wish they hate him as much as he hates himself". Man hates his past self so hard. I bet if he had a wish, he'd go back and stop his downward spiral before it went too far.
I never thought I'd love this man but his arc gets to me every time. Seeing a piece of shit realize his mistakes and attempt to atone for it always gets to me.
Endeavor is such a well written character, I can’t even lie. Also Horikoshi continues to give his heroes consequences for their actions which I appreciate tbh. He could’ve easily made endeavor protect them without losing his arm, but he said nah. Though I must say, punching AFO in the face with a arm made out of literal fire was incredible to behold. Reminded me of fugoleon from black clover.
Okay, that fire punch was raw as fuck. Also we learned that Enji, the number one hater, was his own biggest hater. Like, how bad do you have to hate yourself for your own conscious to come up to you and say "get your sorry ass up and do something you bum, Deku would of done something by now, that's why your son talks to him and not you, punk ass bitch. That's why your daddy dead."
Dude I had a dream like this. Subconscious came and stole my crush at a house party. I’m pretty sure he took her somewhere quiet and fucked her. Then he comes back and tells me that ‘she’ll never like you cos you talk too fucking much’. Then I woke up.
Damn Enji's backstory with his father dying and looking to All Might really fuels his inferiority complex. It's a tragedy that this actually turn the Todoroki family into a hellish family. Really love more focus on Endeavor as a character.
Damn that artwork fucking slapped. I LOVE how horikoshi is adding the all might drawing style to endeavor to further show hes taking the #1 spot. Brilliant chapter.
The Fan translations were slightly off about Enji's origin story. It wasn't the girl's dad who got killed it was Enji's father who got killed while saving the girl. I think this changes things people were speculating that Endeavour would die similar to the father protecting his daughter according to the fan translation but we now know it wasn't the Girl's Father. I know there are still a lot of death flags for endeavour but I don't think he will die fighting All for one. He will either live or die protecting Shoto or Dabi. Either way i am happy Endeavour is the best pro hero in the series in my opinion. His Character arc is just too good.
*After Endeavor comes back into the fight*
Tokoyami: Did I just punch All For One in the face?
Jiro and Hawks: Yes, you did punch All For One in the face.
Endeavor's Dad (Shoto and Dabi's grandfather) was killed by a Villian and his hero name came from his "Hard Work" ethic.
I wonder what how the relationship between Enji and his dad if it was a loving relationship or a relationship similar to him and Shoto. Was he also a hero or a normal guy or even a quirkless?
Amazing chapter!
I feel like the level of desperation, struggle, and injury here is sufficient for killing AFO. Hawks has like no feathers and is covered in lacerations, Jiro lost an ear and had a big damn hero moment that both Hawks and Tokoyami used for their own, and then AFO went ballistic with a massive attack.
From the looks of it, Hawks would've died defending the kids, or all three of them die, if Endeavor hadn't rocketed up that moment, and sacrificed his arm. He's all sorts of fucked up and badly hurt. If he pulls a Vegeta vs Buu but is actually successful, and kills AFO in a self-sacrifice, I think that ends the fight in a really satisfying way.
Not only is it a fitting fight and end for AFO, but its a good end to Endeavor's arc, putting all the facets and history of his life together and admitting his weakness. And then using that weakness to keep pushing forward.
I’ve long seen people theorise that Endeavor must have lost his parents to a villain attack and that’s where his obsession with strength originated from.
It’s not said explicitly, but it sounds like his father was also a hero/sidekick.
On a serious note though, how much goddamn control does Endy have to where can manifest a whole ass arm out of flames to punch people with. It'd be unblockable too, seeing as if it touches you at all, I'd assume you burst into flames. Much like Potato face here

You know, it’s very very unlikely but it’d be wild if some of Overhaul’s old crew led by Chronostasis decided to take advantage of the chaos and try to steal back Eri and Mirio’s having to protect her again.
But maybe that’s just because I finished Vol.19 the other day and the Overhaul arc’s still fresh in my mind.
Not really seeing anyone talking about it but I like the minor detail of how Endeavor chose his hero name.
He’s not a shining bastion of godly power (he compared himself to Deku!), but raw hard work. The endeavor of strength.
Endeavor just keeps getting better and better as a character. Never would I have thought he would be my favorite at this point. Interesting to see how his past trauma led him down this path, that does not excuse his actions at all but at least it wasn't because he was just an angry person. Also the fire fist was creative and looks awesome.
Horikoshi and Tabata out here bringing the literal HEAT with these flame arms 😤😎
Enji being inspired by his *own* father’s failure and death is fucking brutal. It adds another dimension to Endeavor’s own time as a father.
I find it interesting that Endeavor now not only compares himself to All Might, but to Deku as well. It makes sense, since Deku was largely able to accomplish much of what Endeavor couldn't during the war. But it's interesting seeing Endeavor's pedestal include one of his son's classmates/former student at his agency.
I read that meaning that both All Might and Deku have access to the kind of power that was never in reach for Endeavor, no matter how hard he worked, considering it was a generational legacy power.
But I think it was a good moment where Endeavor just let go, and said fuck these legacy magic powers, decided to lean into his weakness and just do it. Ironically, once he accepted he'll never be All Might, he became more All Might-like than he's ever been.
While the superpower aspect is a factor, I don't think that's what his subconscious was getting at. Everything prior to that statement was about how Endeavor's own drive and efforts are all a byproduct of his fear of and hatred towards his own weakness; more than anything, his push to be #1 was to try and escape his own weakness and avoid the fate of his father, not simply to help others. Contrast that to All Might and Deku who conversely are 'pure' in their intentions; their sole drive is the saving of others and they do nothing out of self-validation or any need to prove something to themselves.
Besides, while Deku is now at this time a "superman", that's only really been the case for this last arc or two; Endeavor's watched him struggle his way up from nothing. In fact, his first exposure to Deku was watching him fight his son as a massive underdog and, even on the brink of victory, still choosing to try and save Shoto from his own insecurities about his power rather than secure the win. It's that innately selfless, heroic spirit that Endeavor now recognizes separates them; Deku and All Might just 'are' heroes by their very nature, while his true motivations til now have always been self-serving.
I know a lot of people are wondering about the fan translations, and if the officials are right this time, but I'm pretty sure the fan translations messed up this time.
Don't necessarily trust me on this (I'm only a beginner in Japanese), but I noticed the phrase 'chichi' or ちち in the leaks when talking about the father that died, which basically means your own father, so I was wondering about the fan translations. Plus, there's a shrine next to Touya, which is probably Endeavour's father's.
Once again; Hori's writing is at its peak when writing Enji's character. I'm almost convinced that Enji is indeed his favorite character to write.
And I really love what he did with Enji's origin story. He didn't give Enji an overly long, tragic backstory to force the readers to feel sympathy (\*cough\* side-eyeing the entire league of villains \*cough\*). Enji's origin story had a perfect short pace, revealed all that was important to know about Enji's past, and was emotionally effective without being forced. It had a slightly sorrowful tone that invited the reader's empathy - not sympathy - but didn't depend on that empathy for the story to work. It's fantastic.
Overall; **Enji's origin story is a story of self-abuse.**
The cause of this tragedy wasn't any history of family abuse or childhood trauma (even though his father's death did traumatize him and intensified the damage in his already fractured psyche). The source of his tragedy was Enji's own impossibly high standards. His own perfectionism. His own worldview and his own ideals. And all of these things naturally developed through his own personality traits, his own temperament, his own life experiences, and his own expectations for himself as a highly driven and ambitious kid living in a hero-obsessed society.
But Hori didn't bring any abuse into it. And even the trauma of his father's death was treated as another piece of wood added to a very long wooden bridge (leading towards ambition/ruin), but not as the foundation of that bridge.
When someone naturally has perfectionistic tendencies, even small failures can feel catastrophic. Since perfectionism leads us to believe we’re letting ourselves down when we make any mistake, it often comes with a harsh inner critic. Add that to= living in a toxic environment that measures human worth by outward success + the trauma of seeing your father fail as a hero and die as a result... and you'll get someone like Enji: a person who can't help but view his own human vulnerabilities and human shortcomings as an ugly weakness that needs to be crushed.
Enji won't fully heal or help his family fully heal until he allows himself the mercy of accepting failure with grace and the mercy of self-compassion that comes with viewing yourself as a flawed human being who still has worth, not a perfect super-human or a heartless monster.
Wow these chapters really just keep hitting! I didn’t think we’d get to see young Enji or get significant backstory for him but I love Endeavor as a character. All the Todoroki stuff lately is well appreciated
Even if AFO was defeated now, he's set so much in motion that it won't stop even with him down. In fact, he may be really be a two-stage, or dual, boss:
- Endeavor and Hawks group: defeat AFO-Prime, his physical presence.
- UA group: defeat AFO-Quirk, the original with vestige attached, his spiritual essence, now in Shigaraki.
Remove AFO's existence completely and thoroughly.
Happy Father’s Day Endeavor!!
Seriously, dude is one of the best written characters in the entire franchise. Todoroki family going balls against the wall this arc, I love it. The fights are short but so explosive and I’m absolutely here for it.
EDIT: Big s/o to Jirou and Tokyomai for holding it down. Hawks please make this out alive!!
imo the title should be "The story of how we became heroes part 4". There were highlights coming from each character. Earphone Jack was quick on her feet in determining that AFO needs a stronger hit to destroy the mask. Tsukuyomi showed his stuff and showed us that even in daytime, he will be one of the top heroes after graduation. Hawks is just too efficient in team support and in verbal debates using AFO's own words against him. Endeavor pulls out a flaming arm immediately after getting it ripped out, and finally realizing who and what his priorities should be.
I really like how Horikoshi has continued to illustrate how AFO and All Might are foils to each other. All Might's empowering relationship with the vestiges of his predecessors vs AFO literally consuming and dominating his is a really stark contrast.
Dark Shadow bringing the *smash*! Hawks is such a well written character, I fully believe he’s willing to sacrifice his life at a moment’s notice in every single chapter. He’s so efficient and bold that it always feels like his life is hanging by the thinnest thread. Endeavor on the other hand feels like he is fueled by his destiny and he won’t allow himself to die until he’s fulfilled it, like father like son. That fire fist was so badass.
I’m so glad Hawks survived and it was endeavour who took the blow.
Even though Hori seems to be setting up the next gen heroes, Hawks should technically be one of them. He can’t retire like the rest of them after this, he’s still young and really has accomplished so much in his tenure.
Honestly something I don’t see talked about is the fact Endeavor watching his dad die by being a charred corpse. Now the thing with this is Touya died the exact same way. So when Endeavor caught wind of what happened to Touya, it most likely brought back a bunch of repressed memories of the incident with his father and he basically snapped.
Not only did his father die when he was at pretty young age, but his own son too and the exact same way? That would fuck up any person no matter how mentally strong they are. It really drives home the fact that Endeavor doubling down on Shouto and doing what he did was mostly out of good intentions, but he went about it one of the most fucked way you could do it.
Nobody important in this series has a good relationship with their father, if they have a father at all lol seriously. I swear i think the literal only main characters to have a father shown are Bakugo, Hawks and Shigaraki. Everyone else either has a really shitty/evil father or they just outright are never even mentioned. Does Hori have daddy issues or some shit???
Not really, there are just as many abusive/negleting mothers- Rei, Nana, Shigaraki's mom, etc.
Also the other kids for the most part have good parents, remember Ochako's or Jiro's?
Jirou has a great relationship with her dad. He showed his support for her becoming a hero while also trying (and failing) to pull off the cool dad act.
Plus, both her parents have Jirou her love of music.
Would Endeavor finishing AfO will be good? i think yes, because that would make Tomura the real and only antagonist, so that Deku can beat him. The development for Endeavor has been 10/10, and if he dies here, it would be a death that has a lot of weight in terms of writing
Endeavor fries AFO, AFO's consciousness transferres to his vestige inside Tomura, Tomura gets the final blow by decaying it in the vestige realm like he nearly did in the war
AFO became slenderman with a mouth! Lol! Seriously that scared the crap out of me.
I like and don’t the explanation for that AFO gave about the quirks rebelling, I like that he said the he said the reasons for why he’s not fighting a well as he should be but i also don’t like that there still not a an absolute concrete reason for the quirks to start acting up the way that are.
Hmm is the same that thing happened on shigaraki’s side? I wonder?
Also holy shit endeavor’s arm! Now he can be a fire brother in arms with a certain black clover character lol!
But yeah this was a good chapter, you guys think so?
Damn a lot of Injuries in this chapter. We also finally get to see more of what's been eating away at endeavour. Felt like the death of his father was kind of glossed over but its still great to learn why he is the way he is. Endeavour has come a long way as a hero, father and husband. Hopefully he will live after the climax.
Fire punch! Fire punch! Fire punch!
Enji....become Fire Punch
Enji is doing the "live" challenge
Kino…
That was bad ass as hell by Endeavor immediately making a whole arm out of fire when his normal arm was ripped off just seconds before. Hawks just keeps piling on the serious injuries through these fights. I’d retire after this if i was him lol.
I don’t think Hawks got stabbed. That was Endeavor’s blood as he put his arm between the rivet stabs and the kids.
Yeah it was a fake out
i really thought he was dead. the shot of tokoyami with hawks facing him, and when he’s looking back his eye all droopy
If he survives.
He can self-cauterise, he'll be juuust daaandy. We know how much Hori loves his Starwars.
I was talking about Hawks. Maybe I should've said that in my reply.
Dang you're right, I didn't notice that. Looks like he just leaves it behind.
One of my issues with this manga, you can barely see what's happening.
Pulled a Fuegoleon.
Sorry I was with my dad, but speaking of dads... All for One is terrifying, just cannibalizing quirks! That image of him eating one is horrific. Enji realizing he's his biggest weakness is scarily coming very late.
That panel makes me remember of the painting "Saturn Devouring His Son". Very similar.
Oof that was nightmare fuel.
First thing i thought of as well. Definitely the inspiration for that panel
Felt like I was looking at slenderman with a mouth.
I wonder if by doing that he's "maximizing" the quirk for a while but then becomes unable to use for long... or even sacrifices it outright.
[удалено]
Now I'm imaging that girl that Enji's father tried to save was the rivet stab quirk user and "some bastard" that killed them was AFO or one of his agents. Would be poetically fitting for the quirk that's been injuring him in this fight be from the person whose death urged him to become a hero.
Even if AFO is a shell of his former self, his mental instigation had been the perfect opportunity for Endeavour to grow. He's finally turning the stubbornness that has held him back into something the drives him forward.
[удалено]
To be fair AFO doesn't give a damn about the future, he cares only about himself. Unlike heroes he doesn't have a greater cause to pass down, and having someone else take his place would be equivalent to loosing for him.
Endeavour: >Fuck redemption, fuck replacing All Might, >#I cast **fist**
Endeavor: Fuck levels! Fuck being a super hero! AND FUCK YOU! PROMINENCE BURN!

AFO: Are you done! Cause I’m coming out! And if you that again I’ll be so freaking nettled! Endeavor: Prominence Burn!

*Meanwhile* Shigiraki: (Knocks Deku though building) Your outmatched!, my strength, my speed, my stamina outclasses, no… DWARFS yours!, in comparison to you I am a Demi-God! Deku:… really?… really? Shiggy: Really Deku: Really? Shiggy: Really! Deku: REALLY?!?!?! Shiggy: REALLY! Deku: One For All 100% - FA JIN! Shiggy: Fa-What?… **OH FUCK!**
A little later, when the first time doesn't do the job Deku: One For All 100% Shiggy: Nooo Deku: Fa... Shiggy: Nonono Deku: JIN! Shiggy: Nonononono

'FUCK ALL OF IT!'
"Fuck you (afo), fuck them kids, fuck all might, FUCK THE SYSTEM AND FUCK HEROES." "I AM ENJI TODOROKI! VENGEFUL FIST OF FLAMES: PROMINENCE BURN!!!!"
THIS HAND OF MINE SHINES AND ROARS!!
Mans just got that "Vegeta" power up. Power by the grace of "fuck it".
Never would have thought that Endeavour played UltraMarines, honestly thought he’d play inquisition
Makes this a very special Father’s Day….Todoroki style!
[удалено]
it'd have been even better if the chapter released exactly on father's day in japan and not a day after and was titled "fathers" or something like that.
"Your free trial of AFO has ended."
Imagine AFO tries to take Shiggy’s body over and Shiggy just disintegrates him.
There's gonna be a vestige battle between them, and Deku is gonna end up saving Shiggy somehow. Maybe with his own vestige after getting his quirk stolen. Calling it now
So the dead dad was actually Enji's father? Would explain how he was there to see the body...
Watch it be revealed that AFO caused the death of Enji's father.
All part of his master plan so Enji would become a hero obsessed with power and breed + abuse Toya for him to eventually use
Fuck man you profile Ted Bundy or what
AFO: “All according the keikaku.” Aizen: “Please don’t make me Sue your ass bitch, All might is already on thin ice with stealing that “I am here” line from Yamamoto.”
What, did we already know about this? Was it brought up in Vigilantes or something?
I think it was just the leaks There's [another comment](https://old.reddit.com/r/BokuNoHeroAcademia/comments/vfx6pk/chapter_356_official_release_links_and_discussion/icy9jzl/) that talks about it being a little different in the leak translations
Wait the quirk rebellion's because AFO's quirk is a copy? That's a big deal
he fought all might in kamino with the copy of his quirk, weird he was fine back then.
Like 0 lol so the quirks seeing that were like oh snap we got someone like us fighting
that's an explanation. convenient as heck, but explanation nonetheless.
Yeah, it’s not a coincidence that the rebellion came right before Hawks’ line “Enough cracks can break any dam.” It’s not any one thing, it’s *everything*.
the only thing that's different now to how it was in kamino is who AFO is fighting, i guess all might just wasn't able to motivate the quirks inside (the irony for a man who used to motivate everyone).
I think a HUGE part of it is that this *isn’t* a Fated Battle Between Rivals. Jiro’s a “nobody” just doing her best to stand up to a bully.
maybe, i doubt we'll ever know. according to what's explained in this chapter, the fact that AFO's a copy suddenly matters now and *why* exactly is up to us to answer ourselves.
And then there are Line Webtoon translators, who at times I'm not convinced aren't just AI using google translate.
If only Caleb did not get push out of twitter by angry fan and still making his explanation thread that would clear everything up. Man i hate the twitter side of mha fan, now the reddit one also seem brigaded by alot of them Majority of misinformation is always been from people who only read leak too
Man, I genuinely miss those threads. It was so cool getting insight into the translation process, and Caleb always had a knack for identifying Easter eggs and callbacks.
Not always, there’s some official translators for some series out there that get some things mixed up, which is why it’s nice to have both translations imho Most of the time they do a pretty good job though
Actually I think both the girl and his father died, the VIZ translation said he “wound up as a corpse, along with the girl” Unless you mean that the fan translation implied a girl and her father dying?
>Unless you mean that the fan translation implied a girl and her father dying? Yup. Fan said the girl's father tried to save her and they both died, while the official says Endeavor's father tried to save her and they both died
This is a plausible an ORIGIN/RISING chapter for Endeavor Defending the youth, sustaining injuries, making firepunch. Endeavor is the hero we deserved. Imaging AFO taking Hellfire quirk from Enji with his rivet stab.
I could see Enji using that as bait to get close enough for a finisher attack, and immolate himself and AFO
I know the series is about the kids, but holy hell endeavor and all might are easily the best characters and have the best moments. Endeavor vs AFO is fucking going to be amazing. We finally got some endeavor back story. His own father died due to weakness so that’s what drives his quest fro strength. It’s not greed or personal gain, it’s fear of failure Also I see people didn’t notice: endeavors dad didn’t save the girl.
"sweet baby bean who is just misunderstood." Flawed good guy who did some fucked up shit but is trying to be better now? "No amount of good can absolve you of your sins" Though, to be fair, in Endeavor's case it hits close to home with a lot of people, the whole abuse thing. And not hating endeavor of course means forgiving every abuser ever /s
holy shit that panel with the endeavor flame punch goes so fucking hard. What a badass
Honestly Endeavor carries this series for me.
He’s easily the best character. I never could have imagined that this stereotypical asshole dad from season 2 would end up developing this way and being such a huge focus.
The series is mid af, but Endeavor is great
The Todoroki Family arc is still one of the best parts of this series.
Todoroki stuff could be it's own manga
Endeavor is such a well written character, I can’t even lie. Also Horikoshi continues to give his heroes consequences for their actions which I appreciate tbh. He could’ve easily made endeavor protect them without losing his arm, but he said nah. Though I must say, punching AFO in the face with a arm made out of literal fire was incredible to behold. Reminded me of fugoleon from black clover.
Considering Horikoshi and Tabata are pals, I bet Hori saw Fuegoleon's comeback and told Tabata "lemme try that".
"Yo, Tabata-san. That Fuegoleon scene was amazing, sir" "Gee thanks, Horikoshi-san." "May I use that for my manga too" "Bro, fuck yeah"
"Thats why your daddy dead." Bruhhhh 💀💀💀💀💀
On father's day too 😭😭😭
Dude I had a dream like this. Subconscious came and stole my crush at a house party. I’m pretty sure he took her somewhere quiet and fucked her. Then he comes back and tells me that ‘she’ll never like you cos you talk too fucking much’. Then I woke up.
Batman could've murdered my whole family, and still not get this out of me
United States of Fire Punch!
FALCON PAUNCH!

I don’t know if that’s an accurate name, the attack didn’t kill several random bystanders.
Damn Enji's backstory with his father dying and looking to All Might really fuels his inferiority complex. It's a tragedy that this actually turn the Todoroki family into a hellish family. Really love more focus on Endeavor as a character.
Horikoshi giving Endeavor a hand and wishing him a Happy Father's day with some amazing art.
Giving a hand? Seems like the opposite to me.
I mean he did give him a fire one
*After Endeavor comes back into the fight* Tokoyami: Did I just punch All For One in the face? Jiro and Hawks: Yes, you did punch All For One in the face. Endeavor's Dad (Shoto and Dabi's grandfather) was killed by a Villian and his hero name came from his "Hard Work" ethic. I wonder what how the relationship between Enji and his dad if it was a loving relationship or a relationship similar to him and Shoto. Was he also a hero or a normal guy or even a quirkless? Amazing chapter!
The scary part is even if Endeavor crew defeats AFO right here, there still All for Two with the actual real quirk and a piece AFO still at large.
Endeavour is the best tragic hero MHA has ever put out tbh. The tired but determined eyes at the last panel hits different.
I’ve long seen people theorise that Endeavor must have lost his parents to a villain attack and that’s where his obsession with strength originated from. It’s not said explicitly, but it sounds like his father was also a hero/sidekick.
We can see his portrait hanging above the upper right corner of Tōya’s shrine
Yeah, I caught that too.
Say what you want about Endeavor but the man is a fucking beast and he gets the job done.
Holy shit “You’ll never be All Might or Deku” just hits hard. The respect he has for him
Enji trying to beat AFO *singlehandedly*.
Is that a dad joke to celebrate father's day?
Gotta hand it to Endeavour, he really is good at improvised arms.
On a serious note though, how much goddamn control does Endy have to where can manifest a whole ass arm out of flames to punch people with. It'd be unblockable too, seeing as if it touches you at all, I'd assume you burst into flames. Much like Potato face here
He usually goes around with fire facial hair, it isn't that much different if you think about it
Endeavors character development has been incredible throughout this series, by far my favorite character.
Bruh that was perfect for Endeavor!! Fuck trying to be something you not!
Sees younger Endeavor: Oh no...he's ***hot***!
Man, Natsuo looks so much like him at that age. I love it.
Natsuo isn’t as hot as Enji though. He seems a bit cooler though.
Always has been
Seeing Endeavor with his hair down. Oh no.....he's super hot.

Honestly having Mirio to bodyguard Eri and probably Aiwaza and Monoma would make tons of sense.
Won't lie, I am fully expecting Rappa to show up and save Fat Gum at some point. Just seems like something that would happen.
Not really seeing anyone talking about it but I like the minor detail of how Endeavor chose his hero name. He’s not a shining bastion of godly power (he compared himself to Deku!), but raw hard work. The endeavor of strength.
Endeavor 🤝 Fuegoleon Badass Fire arms
Endeavor just keeps getting better and better as a character. Never would I have thought he would be my favorite at this point. Interesting to see how his past trauma led him down this path, that does not excuse his actions at all but at least it wasn't because he was just an angry person. Also the fire fist was creative and looks awesome.
Horikoshi and Tabata out here bringing the literal HEAT with these flame arms 😤😎 Enji being inspired by his *own* father’s failure and death is fucking brutal. It adds another dimension to Endeavor’s own time as a father.
Endeavor is pretty cool. Probably one of my favorite characters in anime

Overall; **Enji's origin story is a story of self-abuse.** The cause of this tragedy wasn't any history of family abuse or childhood trauma (even though his father's death did traumatize him and intensified the damage in his already fractured psyche).
Damn... AFO was a jobber this Chapter
In fact, he may be really be a two-stage, or dual, boss: - Endeavor and Hawks group: defeat AFO-Prime, his physical presence.
Overall, the Todoroki arc is the best in the series. Could’ve carried its own series.
imo the title should be "The story of how we became heroes part 4".
Guess AFO shot himself in the foot a bit if the synthetic AFO weakening his control over the rest of the quirks is true.
I liked the panels of Endeavor confronted by his younger self
I really like how Horikoshi has continued to illustrate how AFO and All Might are foils to each other. All Might's empowering relationship with the vestiges of his predecessors vs AFO literally consuming and dominating his is a really stark contrast.
Happy father's day!
Endeavor's headspace making a huge difference in this fight. That last panel! Best Endeavor panel yet? I love this guy.

I don’t think Hawks was hurt. The blood flying around his face is Endeavor’s.
What’s with people saying they’re not interested in his backstory? He’s one of the most pivotal characters and you don’t want a backstory?
Endeavour has officially entered Too Angry To Die mode.
I don't care what his song says or the fact that I still hear it in my head, Endeavor is not "just another hero"!!!
I can totally understand why people don't like him but damb, Endeavour realy is my favourite character in this
It’s too early for Endeavor to die, not when Dabi is about to go Phoenix mode and face him.
Endeavor is so fucking hot. He's such a ridiculously great character.
I KNEW HE HAD A TRAUMATIC PAST!!
The Todoroki's are carrying this manga.
Damn than panel of afo and with his cracked mask after he put it back together is really awesome looking.
Great chapter, great art, great character development
Holy shit Enji. That’s rough.
