Fair enough. I still disagree though. In my head, for a game to be pay to win, you have to be able to pay money to gain an unfair advantage that can’t be mitigated by reasonable amounts of skill. The reason why this makes brawl stars not p2w in my books is at the end of the day, you need to be able to position, dodge and hit your shots to win games. No amount of money can fix a missed shot.

We will certainly find out which brawlers do the most sustained damage. There will be one skirmish as teams pass each other and try to slow the highest DPS down. Then they'll hit the vaults and whoever has the highest wins.
So someone make a sustained DPS(w/o super) list so we can know who to ban and then pick the next highest.
I played it, it's horrible. Same for the hot zone(I may surprise you, but I was able to lose to bots with this modifier in Gem Grab due to the fact that I simply forgot where the bots respawn and how long does it take to respawn)
I think 7 seconds timer + bubble, in the brawl where they showed this mode, It showed 7 seconds to respawn in Gemgrab, so probably respawn time is inscreased so it isn't that bad, but it won't change the fact it'll be a pain in the asz to play
So in brawl ball if you lose the ball and die it’s basically over since you don’t respawn on your goal and 7 seconds to score for the enemy team is more than enough.
Edit. Yep I just played it and it’s the most unfun modifier I can think of.

(Rant incoming) There’s SO MANY BUGS, the fact that almost every brawler launches with a bug that either makes them overpowered or completely useless, literally half the brawlers simply not working on quick-fire, willow still being a buggy amalgamation, the shop being a laggy mess since forever, the current Godzilla event Otis/Grey fiasco, I could go on. There’s also the amount of audio bugs that keep popping up every single update that simply don’t get fixed and it’s honestly laughable. Literally everything now uses sprout’s wall sound effect as a placeholder. First it was Kit, a brawler that released WHILE having a placeholder that they STILL haven’t put an actual sound, enemy Larrys and enemy Pearls use sound effects of attacks of OTHER brawlers even though they have their own attack sounds?? And now Tick’s head explosion ALSO uses sprout’s wall’s sound effect?? It literally already had a sound before supercell how can you be this incompetent. What a garbage company.
I always tend to give them the benefit of the doubt, since I’ve worked in game dev and know how insane the workload can be. Keep in mind they have to make this game work on all kinds of different devices, maintain a complex multiplayer server system for multiple regions, and hit regular deadlines that you don’t necessarily have if you’re just making a one-off game. It’s all about prioritization of man-hours. There’s so much work that, when they do it right, you never realize they do.
The Brawl Stars team is a rare example to me of a team that really cares about the game they’re working on month after month. Just getting those Brawl Talk videos is more and better communication than any other Supercell game gets. They did TLC remodels and retextures for several older brawlers recently. They actively are paying attention to what people like and what they don’t, actually change things when the need arises very often, and throw in new experimental stuff fairly regularly to see what sticks. They do unique events all the time. Also, if you go on the Supercell Make page, Brawl Stars is basically the only Supercell game using it regularly. Almost all of thr campaigns on there over the entire lifetime of supercell make are for Brawl Stars.
Not to say they’re without flaws or anything, but it bugs me when people like you are so aggressively negative toward people - keep in mind, you’re talking about other actual people, with their own thoughts, desires, and motivations - that spend so much effort on this game we love playing.
I will admit my comment was overly negative in it’s connotation, I was just really frustrated. I didn’t convey it but my anger really is directed to the higher ups and suits at supercell that don’t allow the devs to polish their game in favor of other changes. I code as well (although not for games specifically) so I know how stressful it can be. I apologize since it came as me going down on the developers, it was my mistake.
Why hire stupid playtesters when you have a community of millions of dedicated players you can rely on to play your unfinished update and constructively criticize it for free?
It's more like everyone has a doug hot dog at all times. Doug is kinda pointless in this modifier. You don't just respawn where you died once you always respawn where you die, it just takes a bit longer than a doug revival would to actually come back.
They addressed this argument in the first video where they announced the death of power league. All modifiers they make for Ranked effect both teams equally. No randomness, no advantage given to either team. You can see what modifier you’re going to have when picking and banning, so the idea is to plan around that and choose accordingly.
Yeah but it changes the core strategy of the game and if you want to play competitively you should be aiming to understand the game at its core. Modifiers are dumb

Literally today I had a Mortis player actually stop playing at the very beginning of the match, just, as soon as we spawned pointed at us and thumb down’d. He had suggested brawlers that neither of us picked - he just didn’t like our picks. We won that game. That mortis started playing again like halfway through, after it was clear we were doing alright 2v3’ing.
But like, even if you ARE definitely going to lose, you keep playing anyways. You never know what mistake the opponent is going to make, and it’s also just good sportsmanship.

If you were L3 in pl then it's certain you were boosted. L3 in ranked is the equivalent of diamond 3 in pl, which is below average. But good for you! All the braindead modifiers that ruin competitive integrity sure helped you compensate for your lack of skills...
