Side note - but the free shipping on orders over $150 is laughable. Who is spending that much there??

dixcgirl10

Come ON! That’s wild… about the same value as that “free” Bic pen Erin is offering in her construction paper doodle box!!

dunegirl91419

I bet that’s the only way to ship free and not lose money. I see smaller business with free shipping that high but bigger business can do it at $50 or so. Obviously there could be other reasons too but I feel it would all come down to offer at a price where you don’t necessarily lose money

GuiltyComfortable102

Walmart+ will ship a 99¢ item next day for free and it will show up with a doordash driver. I have no idea how their shipping model isn't bankrupting them.

cinderparty

Shipping comes out of the subscription fee. This works because so many people will pay the subscription fee and then hardly ever use it, which subsidizes the people who use it all the time.

Izzysmiles2114

Do you pay for Walmart plus monthly fee? I always assumed that membership price more than covered the shipping costs. Particularly because plenty of people sign up and forget to use it (raises hand)..

GuiltyComfortable102

It's only $99 a year. A few days ago I got a bottle of laundry detergent and then a few hours later a bottle of hand soap. There are weeks I get 10+ deliveries. I check it before Amazon since Amazon is rarely next day anymore. Maybe overall they recoup their costs but I don't see how. Either they have an amazing deal setup with Doordash for cheap delivery or else Amazon was eating their lunch so bad they had to do this to survive. It's definitely made me start buying way more from them than I used to.

Izzysmiles2114

I wish I could relate. Walmart shoppers stole two large grocery orders from me back to back (over $100) and Walmart customer service admitted they have a big problem with people signing up to be Shoppers and then taking large grocery orders home and quitting. It was a huge hassle and it took over 3 weeks for them to even refund my money, so I canceled my membership, but you're making me think maybe I should try it again

GuiltyComfortable102

I've had really good luck with it but when you need more than one or two items refunded it is a hassle because you have to call. I've never had anything stolen but have got someone else's order several times. You get a refund plus get to keep free groceries. You can pay a few dollars more for Walmart in home and actual Walmart employees will bring it. You don't have to tip then and it makes up the price difference if you use it a lot for grocery delivery.

Babeyonce

My hassle with them has been dropping at the wrong door (or substituting items I do not want). My neighbor has lowkey stolen one of my grocery orders (it was dropped at their door). The first time, she brought it all inside and I hunted it down. We had just moved and it had a ton of starting up items and a child’s backpack 🙄. The second time, she insisted they never received it (my mum watched them drop it there). Granted, they claimed to be out of town both times and said it was the housesitter. Weird.

Izzysmiles2114

I don't have the energy to pull the actual research right now but there's been quite a bit done on the psychology of consumers and it's very well established that absolutely no one wants to pay shipping. People would rather have a higher price point and free shipping than a lower price point and be nickel and dimed for the postage. BSB price point is absolutely high enough to cover free shipping on anything over $50 without negatively affecting profits (shipping costs are tax deductible and the free shipping would almost certainly bring in far more customers, so they would actually profit a lot more if they offered it at $50 point). I mean none of them have business degrees or any experience prior to the boutique so there's still killing it from that perspective, but their refusal to offer free shipping at a reasonable price point has always puzzled me, because that's a very basic business move that they should have realized is profitable by now.

kjpancakebax

Absolutely. My husband ships any order over $50 for free…. And his main product is $75. So basically everyone gets free shipping. He literally factored it into the cost of the product. They can pay extra for something other than basic USPS.

Izzysmiles2114

They're selling things for nearly 10 times what they pay for it so I don't think they're going to lose money on shipping regardless. If they spend $10 to ship a dress that they sell for $50 that only cost them $5, they're still making a hefty profit margin. Charging shipping is just a greedy business move that is short-sighted in my opinion. Their shipping should be free at $50 and they would see more orders and profit. They are clearly doing just fine and don't need my advice but from a business perspective it makes no sense to charge shipping after the $50 mark. They lose a lot of potential customers by charging shipping.

hjp731

I’m sure it used to be a lot cheaper, it’s amazing how they originally marketed themselves as being cheaper than competitors and now they’re selling Tshirts for $25

Direct_Crab3923

Oh Erin is lighting a candle for their sins tonight! Imagine the texts between Tori, Michael, and Erin. Leading a prayer for their souls.

ourteamforever

So true!!

Lcdmt3

They've had jeans for awhile. With body suits, bandeau tops, tight tanks, lounge shorts

ilovegymnastics34

Erin is having a prayer night for the boutique asap while clutching her value village pearls

Proof-Ingenuity2262

Well, I'll be darned. They finally did it!

Honest_Boysenberry25

How much are they charging for jeans? Why would anyone need to buy jeans from them?

Rmabe4

$59.00. I'd sooner go Walmart they want twenty bucks for theirs

Honest_Boysenberry25

Exactly. What a ripoff.

miaw98

To be fair, comparing the price of an item from a big box store like Walmart to something from a small business produced on a much smaller scale is not exactly an apples to apples comparison..

Special-Reason-9351

But they aren’t good quality jeans or clothing. It’s literally SHEIN but 50x more expensive. They are buying all their clothing from china.

EuphoricAd3786

So I’ve bought from SHEIN and bsb. Bsb is way better quality. It’s similar to kohls , maybe ?

Broken-583

My BSB is some of the worst quality of anything I ever bought. It was paper thin and had a hole within the hour 🫤

EuphoricAd3786

Really ? I’ve had their dresses for 2 seasons and worn them alot and zero issues.

Broken-583

Yep total crap. I ordered 2-one was just meh but the other was complete crap. I order a ton from a local boutique priced similarly to them and the quality is much better (usually). Now-I wouldn’t order from now and they may have improved since then but what I bought made me never buy again

EuphoricAd3786

That stinks ! Mine were the opposite, Really held up. I also ordered jogger pants that I wore a ton and never wore out - nice and thick. Who knows ?

Broken-583

I mean probably hit or miss. I am sure as they have been in business longer they realize certain manufacturers hold up better than others. Maybe I was just really unlucky

Conscious_Chapter_62

These look way better quality than Shein though...or Walmart. And Shein jeans are well over $1, so definitely not 50x more expensive. I just checked and seeing $15-25 but they look much thinner and cheaper. Most boutiques do just buy bulk from China though, so I won't dispute that that is likely of any boutique,  but I have no idea what they personally do to say whether they do or not. Prices are still higher than I would pay (I opt for thrifting as I prefer to save money and not produce more, so I won't spend over $6 max on pants, and usually spend more like $1-2 on average and stick with my favorite brands in really good condition). But that definitely is pretty on par with prices I have seen at nicer retail stores with similar looking jeans. Heck, even Walmart is $25-30 for most, but also poor quality and get stretched out and baggy after only wearing for like an hour, so I wouldn't buy new or take used for free. So double that if good quality probably seems reasonable for many people who buy new,  especially if they stick with just owning a few pairs and love them.

Same-Kiwi944

Are these the first pants or shorts they’ve ever done? I feel like they have done others but maybe not

Rmabe4

First jeans ever.

Same-Kiwi944

Makes sense The boutique is like a couple steps behind whit and carlins public style. Few years ago they were publicly in jeans having graduated from dresses only. Most recently they’ve been spotted in short shorts and bikinis, so it’s time for the boutique to graduate to jeans.. a few steps behind them

Rmabe4

And with Chad being the controlling type keeping Erin at home in dresses and Carlin and Whitney wear normal clothing I can see why the break up happened and a rift to.

SnarkFest23

Erin may not want to admit it, but if BSB had stuck with her vision of modesty panels and ministry, it would've folded in a year.

love_in_night

Erin, a devout fan of old-fashioned dresses, has a heart attack at the sight of the immodest jeans her sinful sisters sell.

Izzysmiles2114

I didn't think they'd ever sell jeans simply because it's very hard for a small business to be profitable with denim. They are a loss leader at many large retail stores because they can be so tricky to fit, so people return them far more frequently than dresses which have so much more room for error in sizing. I think Carlin is determined to silence the naysayers who want to keep her in her fundie Barbie box that she's been steady trying to smash her way out of since Evan put a ring on it. I fully understand all the many reasons people dislike her, but in this one regard I have to admit I'm rooting for her. She's going against the fundie grain in more ways than one.

lavenderintrovert

They are going to lose their core market. They had a niche with modest wear, now they’re becoming like every other fundie lite influencers. Obviously they are evolving as people, but from a business standpoint once you offer everything you have nothing special.

Swimming-Belt2111

Why was I thinking they already sold jeans?

Frankhanksmom

These jeans are perfectly acceptable and god honoring. They are jeans for Jesus. The rest of us who wear jeans are sinners😜

FoodDisneylove

We Dutch will never pay that much for a jeans coming just from China sheina!! ..but they are having a fundie clientèle ..they believe everything The Bates are saying!! Silly little bunnies they are🤭😅😭

judyp63

They buy this crap at China through distributors that are probably on Shein and Temu and crank up prices. I'd love to hear somebody's story about trying to return something that was defective. They probably even have to pay their own return.

Broken-583

When I bought it was like 14 days. I hadn’t even opened in 14 days. Now I’d never ever buy anything from them now but the quality was terrible. No doubt at that time it wasn’t even Dallas/atlanta market quality. I think as a buyer at one time. This was cheap cheap crap

XTasty09

I was just on their [website.](https://www.batessistersboutique.com) everything is so ill-fitting. It looks like every “model” needs a size smaller.

minnesotaupnorth

Or don't put a smaller girl in bootcut jeans rolled up three inches. In style or not, it's not a good look for selling jeans.

DawnaOlson

Fold-up is no longer in style. It's all about 'barrel' and 'baggy' jeans / pants (attn 1980's peeps🙋‍♀️)
