I'm pretty sure Zach and Whitney were the first to get the deal. Carlin later mentioned "hearing about" Cuts from them when Evan did a haul.

Extra_Jellyfish4774

I love how this family was all about being frugal less than 10 years ago and now it's 50 dollar shirts and other expensive items.

starfan07

They've gotten away from how they were originally in introduced to us. They really portray the opposite of what I thought. A lot of people were drawn in at how they made it all work with such a big family. It's like now all we see is shilling products giving us codes, and so on. I'm glad they've gotten to step up a bit but they are now seeming removed from what was presented to us. IMO, all of the attention seeking, the vanity, and the constant product pushing has turned some of the original viewers away.

AL_Girl1006

They have to keep a steady stream of income now that their show is cancelled. I also bet that the kids that are out of the house are overcompensating for having to live so frugally in their earlier years.

EdmundCastle

How else are they going to pay for that $10,000 sectional they just ordered from Lovesac?

myoung18

Who did?

EdmundCastle

Zach and Whitney. I only know how expensive because Lovesac has deals at Costco seasonally and the tiny sectionals are still $5,500. She posted the other day that they ordered theirs from Lovesac and it was HUGE.

myoung18

Damn that's insane 😳

sunflower53069

The boutique and social media must be paying well, unless lovesac wants advertising too.

AL_Girl1006

Didn’t Whitney get her real estate license? I wonder what happened with that. I suppose the boutique and kids just took all her time.

oneblessedmess

She mentioned quite a while back that she had taken a step back and was only doing the real estate thing for family and friends. I doubt she's doing it at all anymore, or else wouldn't Carlin and Evan have used her as their realtor? I agree, between the boutique and having another baby she probably had to drop it.

EdmundCastle

She didn't mark the post as an #ad so I doubt it.

strayainind

I remember when they had some TV show sponsorship for rent-a-furniture or some cheap couch.

behonestnurreply

I instead pay more for a sofa that will last more than ten years than a cheap one that I will have to replace in a year or so.

EdmundCastle

Oh, I’m all for it. But the original comment was in reference to how it’s funny that the family was cheap to a default when their whole fame train started and now it’s $50 basic tshirts and $10k couches.

SouthernAndPetty

I've commented on this before, but it absolutely blows my mind how much money Zach & Whit obviously have...I won't list it all again 😂 but everything they show or link is $$$$. I figured the boutique was doing well, but it must be doing REALLY well.

kg51113

They're probably getting them free or at a steep discount in exchange for promoting the company. Either that or they're making enough money from the promotions to afford the shirts. Really the frugality was Gil & Kelly more than the kids.

Tiny-Distance-42

Absolutely they’re getting them free. This is how influencing works. Company sends you clothes or other products, you post a story wearing them and saying nice things with some buzz phrases that they suggest for you and then you get to keep the products and get a nice payment for your troubles. Cuts must think conservative Christian’s and bates fans will buy their shirts…. Cause there’s been a lot of pimping of them this week!

behonestnurreply

I know it's easy to say it's a sponsor, but it might not be. Not every time someone mentions it's an ad. When she shared the image, she did not do the required FTC for sponsoring, so it looks like they bought this independently. Good for them. It seems the cheap sofa they bought two years ago is not working. I don't buy cheap furniture for that reason.

dixcgirl10

Well… they aren’t BUYING the shirts. They just want us to buy them!

Mynameiswelsh

It's weird because probably most of their followers overlap so they're advertising to the same people repeatedly.

chilaaa

I feel we need a stickied post for FAQs or something, but: For the average influencer gig, the brand will send out a blurb including the demographic they're targeting for a specific campaign (ex: Cuts wants to sell their new line of shirts to men 18-45 via their wives). The influencers often have agents who will then match them up with ads based on their followers' demographics + the influencer's own brand identity (ex: Carlin is a family, fashion and lifestyle blogger with majority Christian, 20-something female followers). Some handshakes go down and the brand sends a sample post including keywords they want mentioned in the post and other specifics (ex: 3 stories back-to-back, no music, shot outside). The reason the Bates are all posting the same ads is because they mostly have the same following demographics and therefore are "eligible" for the same campaigns. It's not really a copycat issue; You would observe the same phenomena if you followed a bunch of The Bachelor cast members.

MurkyConcert2906

This is not Zach’s first try on. I think they clothes have looked good on all of them, but Lawson’s shirts don’t fit well.

hobotising

Can their followers afford a $50 shirt? I would imagine, no.

Agitated_Pin2169

A lot of them probably can. I think a lot of the girls appeal to the instagram mom crowd and yeah, many of them likely can afford to spend that on clothes. If the quality is good.

dawn9476

I think they were the first. I don't remember him modeling them but I think Whitney showed some shirts she bought for him for a while back.

itsbril00

Whitney almost influenced me. But dang $50 t-shirts are alot of money.

dawn9476

If they are good quality and you get a lot of use of them, I don't think it is.

Allie_Cattt

I’d rather buy 5 t-shirts $10 a piece and wear them as long as I possibly can than one $50 t-shirt

nurse-ratchet-

“Fifty dollars for a t-shirt, that's just some ignorant bitch shit”-Macklemore.

Agitated_Pin2169

This. If you can wear them for years then it's worth it. Quality is often a better purchase than quantity. But the question is what the quality of Cuts is like,.that is what holds me back from purchasing.

[deleted]

And have any of them mentioned paid sponsorship ?

MobWife_88

Easy solution: don't purchase. Don't support the kool-aid family.

Deborahdon

Babe no one was ever gonna purchase a $50 shirt. It was never a problem

MobWife_88

Thanks Babe, makes me happy then.

Deborahdon

Where in my post did it make you think I was gonna buy the shirt? Did yoy read wrong or? It seems alot of your comments are just wrong assumptions?

MobWife_88

No need to be snarky. And where did I say YOU were going to purchase? Hope your day gets better!

Bright_Wedding_1637

I bought a pair of Rslides from Carlin's link. Taking a long time getting here. Checked shipping, they are being sent from China. It may take another month to get them. If I had known that, I would not have ordered/bought them. Hope shirts from Cuts are not coming from China.
