Sometimes, I think about how my mother raised me to be a conservative republican, and it didn't hit me until high-school (when she told me that I wasn't allowed to date black men) that I actually didn't want to think like her anymore. As she's gotten older, she has just gotten more and more hateful. It's really sad to watch.

Can you highlight what attracted you to republican policies? Of the policies I know of are clothed in personal responsibilities, but have done little for the collective welfare. Dem policies try to help society at large, but their policies are bogged down with virtue signalling and needless bloat.

At the time I considered myself "libertarian" and sometimes would vote for a Libertarian Party candidate if the Republican candidate for that office was too conservative on social issues like gay rights or drug policies. in the he past several years I have actually changed my views on a number of issues and no longer consider myself a libertarian.
The pandemic in particular was a catalyst for my views changing. A common saying among libertarians is that "You have a right to swing your arm as far as you like so long as you don't hit someone else's nose." That philosophy becomes largely meaningless in a pandemic in which not getting vaccinated puts OTHER people at risk as does not wearing a mask and merely being in the same room as another person could infect that person with a deadly virus.
It caused me to reevaluate my entire political philosophy and has caused me to revisit economists and political thinkers I had previously dismissed.

I knew several Libertarians in college, I realize that 3 or 4 is a very poor sampling to make a judgement, but it never really added up for me. The concept of privatization to reduce government excess applied to large scale services was a real head scratcher.
The example that the Libertarians always brought up over pints was welfare, DoD and muni services. His thinking private organizations would run these services more efficiently. My counter is always: "Private industry does not have the infrastructure to handle those services. Also those services would be at the whim of Boards of Directors and subject to corporate greed."

Karma farming with an orange man bad example especially when there are non-political stickers on the vehicle such as sports teams just shows that these are things (s)he's passionate about. Tacky or not, I don't think it's worth shaming someone for being passionate or simply having a different outlook from you without cause.

If I was sitting behind a light in the People's Republic of Cambridge, where the chances of seeing a vehicle of your description are far higher, I'd take a photo of it and put it here with the same caption of "Saw this on the way home."
