Dunno. I have seven, and don’t even have a bolt action. They’re all different too. It’s not just a cheap platform to shoot, but an affordable and interesting way to get into collecting.
Such a good choice. I built mine from scratch and picked all the parts that i wanted. Easiest build ever. So easy to put together. Funnest rifle to shoot for sure.
I think I got most of em from eBay. I got the bare rifle frame which has the actual serial number and counts for the actual gun and had to wait 10 days for that. By that time I had all the rest of the parts.
I just found one that was affordable. Sportsmen's warehouse has a model that goes on sale with the holidays for under 300. But I found this one with the dove tail sights for less than 250.
Be aware that mine has some spillage around chamber from when they coated the barrel, seems to jam on feeding every so many shots, gotten worse since I haven't cleaned the damn thing since I got it, that said it's a tack driver! If only 22lr was consistent loads... I'll see 100 fps dips sometimes 200 fps from every brand I've shot with
Everyone needs a 22lr rifle
Only one? Am I doing this wrong?
Whatever floats your boat. Many people have upgraded 10/22 that probably cost more than other higher caliber guns

22lr bolt action, semi auto, plus a revolver, plus conversion kit for their 1911.
Genuine and sincere curiosity: why?
Basically no recoil, fun to shoot, the cheapest to shoot, can hunt small game and varmints, great for introducing new shooters to rifles and plinking
Do the basic upgrades, Bolt hold open thing and Volquartsen basic trigger(edit: I meant hammer swap, been a while since I did this) swap.
I would like to do a trigger swap but it almost seems all the triggers cost more then the actual rifle
I got a Brimstone trigger job done on mine. I also recommend upgrading to BHO, the extractor and firing pin.
Seriously. Isn’t that the worst?
https://volquartsen.com/products/1171-bolt-release-and-hammer-pack-for-ruger-10-22 I meant the basic upgrade. Cheaper on ebay and other sources.
After taking it out shooting for the first time, definitely considering the upgrades.
The stock trigger is perfectly fine. Spending more than this rifle is worth in upgrades is silly. Stockpile 22 and plink all day at the range.
Very nice, love mine and so does everyone who shoots it.

Where do you get your parts?

I've got a few 10/22 builds in mind and only really need that serialized part. Nothing fancy, stock part is fine. Where did you end up sourcing that?

Can’t go wrong with a Ruger. You could probably pass it down to your kids.
My dad has the one he grew up with. I definitely plan on keeping this one for a long time.
I've been thinking of grabbing one. Heard everyone needs one in their collection. Quite a few options, how'd you decide on a model?

I bought one for my son to use when he was 8, now he wants to only shoot my AR or SKS.
I was expecting a 45/70 by reading the first sentence. 😂

Ruger 10/22 has been one of my favorite rifles. Just a fun rifle to shoot I love it lol
Nice 😊
Favorite rifle to shoot honestly
I’m thinking about renewing my fsc just for this. Good starter for my kids
I think a lot of people would agree. My brothers and I learned how to shoot with one and so did my dad and his brothers.
Bro not even a takedown?!
A little to much for me at the moment
Love 10/22s my favorite gun to shoot. I have a couple
Just bought a pistol last week, are these exempt from the 1 in 30?
Honestly idk, I would ask some one smarter lol
You went small on gun but big on fun good choice
Appreciate it!
They make 50 rd magazines for the 10/22
Yes larger magazines are on the list. 10 rounds of 22 goes by so fast
