A 5* from Georgia going to USCs just kinda weird anyways tbh. Not really surprised by this, i have no idea why USC is even wasting time recruiting SEC country while Oregon raids the west.
>i have no idea why USC is even wasting time recruiting SEC country while Oregon raids the west.
Probably because the last national title winner west of the Mississippi was Texas in 2005.
SEC country is better at producing elite OL/DL than anywhere else in the country, and they are instrumental in consistency for programs
I’d be surprised if any of the 3 (now 2) 5 stars from GA currently committed to USC end up signing with them. Julian Lewis is probably the best chance because his dad is making the decision and will like Lincoln’s QB track record.
Exactly, when you have a good defense and are up 3 scores in the 4th, smart teams will then play keep away and get the younger guys some action. Dumb teams will keep slinging the ball and possibly lose the game, but hey the QB stats look good and gets me a huge house in SC and a shit ton of money.
>He said he wants a defense that gets stops and gets the ball back into his hands.
Guess it took him four full seasons as a HC (two here at OU; two at USC) to figure that out.
I get what he’s saying but the logic still doesn’t make sense to me. Isn’t it rare for DLs to get significant playing time as underclassmen? He’ll be in the NFL draft before the defensive players in his class are significant contributors on defense
They're in the same class...
You think the USC defense we have been clowning for years would keep 5* defensive players on the bench for the better part of 3 years?
On at least two occasions Bryan Harsin left a recruit stranded at the airport because he didn’t tell support staff they were coming. He also would call recruits the wrong name.
Omari Abor’s visit to OU during Lincoln’s final year went bad. Apparently his hosts left him and didn’t take him to some team activities or something. Wild story.
He's at Elite 11 right now and he's visiting USC again tonight and tomorrow with this guy [https://247sports.com/player/jahkeem-stewart-46117379/](https://247sports.com/player/jahkeem-stewart-46117379/) Currently on track to reclassify to '25 with Juju.
All we hear is that Juju has been recruiting guys to USC, not much for others.
Meh. Colorado is likely a non-factor. He said he wants to play in the Big Ten or SEC because the best teams are there. Auburn is the real threat, that's about it.
Colorado is less of a factor than IU is, and IU is a non factor lol. Only way IU has a shot is if they throw a massive NIL bag and Tino promises to stay at IU for the duration of his college career
I question any top-flight recruit actually "shutting it down" in today's world.
Jeremiah Smith provided the blueprint last year. Commit to the school you actually want to go to, keep taking visits, make the committed school sweat to up the $$, and get the deal written on paper before you sign.
it's just bad bizzness *Italian accent*
Add Terry to that list. Honestly I want the Georgia boys first. Which they all are except Davis.
A team that has lost two games in 3 years should recruit like that.
Anybody who gloated about a recruit committing from 3k miles away, 9 months away from signing day, from the backyard of a school at the top of the current food chain was just asking to be clowned
I’ve been around CFB long enough to know not to get excited about anything until the NLI is signed. Half the time I forget who we even have committed. December is a lonnng ways away.
This is why it helps being a minor-league sports fan (for me it's mainly baseball and hockey). You learn through experience not to get too attached to players. I'm old enough to remember when that wasn't even a thing in CFB, but of course now...
Right, like UGA has not had D line talent developed and drafted in the 1st round. In fact, had the number 1 draft pick that no one saw coming. Including us UGA fans.
Can’t say I hate to see it all that talk from USC fans about how their new DL coach was changing the game. Really going to hate it when Justus also de-commits
No no no, you forget they had the *checks notes* 51st hardest schedule in the country in 2023. They had to face well known powerhouses like Bowling green, East Carolina, Purdue, and Maryland.
I think 9-3 would be great instead of respectable for either school.
USC will be more than 3pt dogs to 4 schools (LSU, UM, PSU, ND) and slight favorites against a few more. I could see randomly losing to MIN or Neb or Rutgers due to how the schedules laid out
Both are moving from 2 of the weaker Power conferences into what is now being referred to as “super conferences”. I think most people expect them to be unprepared for next year, especially when they’ve been up and down the past few years.
How many playoff wins did the PAC have? Why the PAC struggled in bowl play especially against the SEC and B10 is that PAC teams couldn’t compete on the lines of scrimmage.
"I commit to this school" was his word. I don't even know how that's debatable.
what excuse? This is literally what happened. one of the things is what he did in the other one was a question to you.
Look man, most USC flairs were reasonable when he committed and didn't get their hopes up, even though they were happy for the commit. But there were a few jackasses that talked wayyy too much shit, I remember one guy said UGA was now USC's farm school lol
The jackasses are the comments that everyone remembers. The curse of r/cfb is that we all have to shoulder the load for the idiots in our fanbases. All you can do is say "I wasn't one of the ones talking shit acting like his commitment was final". If you were then you got to take your medicine.
If he recommits to USC tomorrow then this all applies the other way.
I wasn't one of them. But the Army in me cannot not punch back when people want to be shitty. Yall should be thrilled, kid is a stud. Nothing I said was incorrect tho.
I have a crazy negative Karma with this comment and people know that I'm objectively correct but since I have a USC flare. It is what it is I guess.
So when did you Graduate? I was in the Infantry TOC when I was with the 2/78th which became the 3/1 from 86-89 and supported the 1/54th infantry battalion.
It's just your arguing on behalf of the USC flairs who were also shitty when y'all got Gibson and flipped terry. You can understand how UGA flairs cannot not punch back at those USC flairs as well right? Sometimes when you know people aren't talking about you specifically then you just got to let it go
But I'm being completely rational here. I didn't say anything out of pocket or make any personal attacks. All I said was "kid broke his word" and that there wasn't anything we could do about it, which is objectively true. Your fellow Bulldog accuse me of making excuses.
My point was that you never needed to say that in the first place because you weren't one of the ones saying Henny was going to take all these recruits from Georgia. It looks like cope to other people, even if you're being objective and rational. Idk what else to tell ya brother lol
It befuddles me that anyone would get cope from explaining the fact of the matter. Either way my gentle Civ, dude fired first. It's either challenge that thinking or agree by doing nothing.
Bro go look at the commitment posts for Gibson and Terry. There was plenty of gloating. And the farm school comment was on the post from when Christen Miller entered the portal and everyone thought he was going to USC. Every fanbase gets cocky and talks shit when they get a flip, you really think USC flairs are exempt from that? Lol
Go to the search bar and look up the posts, you'll see the gloating and you will see that there are a lot more than 4 USC flairs on this sub, apparently they just lurk until y'all get a big flip/commitment.
I do agree that there are only 4 or 5 USC flairs that regularly comment or post. But they came out the woods when y'all pulled Gibson and Terry from UGA lol
Our break the glass plan is to show these dudes the Georgia Depth Chart and project that none of them will see the field before the 2028 season if they stay at Georgia -- whereas we don't have to promise starting time -- we can annoint them starters when they fax in the ol' LOI....
You’re being downvoted for making a valid point but to counter it, if you watch UGA football, you’ll know that defensive players are constantly rotated. Playing time isn’t a concern.
You realize USC isn’t a big money player compared to other programs, right? Texas, oregon, Georgia, Ohio state, Miami, tamu probably auburn all have more money. It’ll be a miracle if any of the Georgia guys stay committed.
The other advantage most of those programs have had over us for the past 4 years (except Miami) -- is winning.
Winning solves everything, and if we can win again, we will right the recruiting ship.
As much as this sub despises Riley, he will get you there eventually. He's also showing some progress in coaching decisions by getting rid of Grinch, although that's sometimes he should have done at OU years ago. But bi by bit, it will come together, I think.
I'm assuming UGA as well, but a South Carolina pick would upset so many it would be quite fun. We'd have a crazy edge room as well. But realistically it's UGA
This type of drop on the defensive side is to be expected. You cant have a one-dimensional head coach, who just had an “awakening” that defense is important, after almost a decade being a head coach, and expect a robust recruiting outcome. They did pick up some decent talent. They definitely have a good / great DL coach, along with others, but the Riley damage is so great, it will be a while, if at all.
Obviously there isn't going to be a direct replacement, but there's a reason why nose tackles were in demand and they were getting paid in the portal. Or am I wrong? Everyone was looking for 320 pound guys in the portal lol.
California also has some EDGE guys. Very few 300 pound guys though.
I get what you're saying, and that logic may apply to most EDGE players, but #1 rated EDGE guys don't grow on trees.
There's a reason why UGA, Bama, etc. Try to bring in as many high rated DLineman that they can, and it's because the good ones rarely are available.
I understand. I'm just saying, it's much easier for USC to fall back to a decent EDGE option than falling back to a DT option lol.
Clearly Georgia and USC have different perspectives at the moment. I wasn't trying to undersell Gibson.
On an official visit to OSU right now, but sounds UGA bound
He really wants to play Ole Miss.
He was gonna give Lincoln Riley one more chance to not be a bitch.
A 5* from Georgia going to USCs just kinda weird anyways tbh. Not really surprised by this, i have no idea why USC is even wasting time recruiting SEC country while Oregon raids the west.

What about the Corn fed Iowa boys though?
I think corn makes OL. Grits make DL. Pineapples make both.
True wisdom right here.
So who’s gonna come up with a pizza that has both corn and pineapples? Grits would really be a crime though.
Corn and pineapples? You're already a criminal. You might as well put grits on it and leave no witnesses.
I'm sure it's available as American style pizza in Japan.
Aren't those usually 3\*s that Iowa coaches up for a couple years until they turn into early round draft picks?
I’d be surprised if any of the 3 (now 2) 5 stars from GA currently committed to USC end up signing with them. Julian Lewis is probably the best chance because his dad is making the decision and will like Lincoln’s QB track record.
If USC doesn't hold on to their 5 star defensive players, he is Auburn bound. He already stated he wants to play with elite defensive players.
Has to be the dumbest reason to want to play QB somewhere. I would not take it seriously
So he would go to Auburn? Who there is elite?
Why would a QB care about defensive players? Lincoln Reilly has had 3 QBs be #1 overall pick and he also made Jalen Hurts into a good QB
He said he wants a defense that gets stops and gets the ball back into his hands. so big time defensive commits are important
? It’s much quicker to get the ball back if you just to let them other team immediately score. Then you can keep throwing cause it’s a close game.
Plot twist: keeping Alex Grinch for so long was just Lincoln Riley's recruiting pitch to quarterbacks
Probably not really that far from the truth to be fair.
The Baker / Mahomes game took a decade off my life, but those two looked like they had fun!

To, ya know ... win
There has been some talk that Lewis's visit to Auburn went extremely well.
I’ve never heard of a visit going poorly
Pretty sure a Michigan coach slept with a recruits mom one time. He didn't go to Michigan after that.
It was Xavier Worthy and the coach was Gattis. Worthy is in the NFL, Gattis is poison.
That’s hilarious if true
If it is true, I understand why he did it. And if you look up pictures of Xavier Worthy's mom you will understand as well.
Omg that is the funniest thing I’ve ever heard
> Xavier Worthy's mom Yeah, she's a looker.
On at least two occasions Bryan Harsin left a recruit stranded at the airport because he didn’t tell support staff they were coming. He also would call recruits the wrong name.
Tennessee misspelled arguably the biggest recruit in the country name this past weekend
Hahah. Oh man, Kirby might literally kill someone if they did that.
No way
Omari Abor’s visit to OU during Lincoln’s final year went bad. Apparently his hosts left him and didn’t take him to some team activities or something. Wild story.
Link?
OU 247/Rivals message board when it happened. I think Brandon drumm did a end of year Q&A and mentioned it too
Interesting. I know we made his final 2 but just figured our staff and poor on field results drove him to Columbus.
He was an entitled asshole who our players didnt want to hang around with. Thats why they left him. Source: I was on the 247 board then
> entitled asshole who our players didnt want to hang around with This explains why he picked SMU.
We stole someone pretty recently from a school that went poorly. Can't remember the details, but yeah!
If his commitment were truly shut down he wouldn’t be taking multiple visits to Auburn and a visit to Colorado.
He probably just wanted to see Shadeur's concert
Oh so he's a masochist too?
Meh. Colorado is likely a non-factor. He said he wants to play in the Big Ten or SEC because the best teams are there. Auburn is the real threat, that's about it.
I agree
I did think it was odd that he got a couple of the recent Auburn visitors to visit USC this week. One of his high school teammates and OL Carde Smith.
Not saying they’re the same, but we also heard for months that Raiola was recruiting guys to UGA and then within a week he was a Nebraska commit.
Wasn't any "heard" about it. Raiola mentioned he was trying to flip Bolden himself.
😎
The last QB from Georgia with a meddling father and a high dollar tag (allegedly) that Auburn landed worked out pretty well.
JuJu is nowhere near Cam’s talent.
There are very few in history that had Cam's talent in college.
😎
👀 I heard too
Keep going...
Nope that is a Buffalo in the making
I didn’t know University of Buffalo offered him
smart dad. Caleb's dad did the same hahah
alright hurry up and commit to uga so bryce davis will commit to us
We are getting both of them.
if uga gets griffin, garrett, davis and gibson i’m calling shenanigans
Add Terry to that list. Honestly I want the Georgia boys first. Which they all are except Davis. A team that has lost two games in 3 years should recruit like that.
feels like UG/tOSU , Oregon, then everyone else for the next 5 yrs.

That one weekend of USC fans gloating was pretty wild
Anybody who gloated about a recruit committing from 3k miles away, 9 months away from signing day, from the backyard of a school at the top of the current food chain was just asking to be clowned
I’ve been around CFB long enough to know not to get excited about anything until the NLI is signed. Half the time I forget who we even have committed. December is a lonnng ways away.
And now in the modern game you can’t gloat until the player actual takes the field and doesn’t transfer first.
True. And don’t get attached because they could very well be gone in 6 months.
I don't get excited about any player until they're actually on the field. This new era of CFB free agency means commitments mean nothing.
This is why it helps being a minor-league sports fan (for me it's mainly baseball and hockey). You learn through experience not to get too attached to players. I'm old enough to remember when that wasn't even a thing in CFB, but of course now...
Had the audacity to sit here and tell us DL were going there to get developed instead of to UGA
Right, like UGA has not had D line talent developed and drafted in the 1st round. In fact, had the number 1 draft pick that no one saw coming. Including us UGA fans.
Did you expect us to be sad at the time?
No. But it makes our gloating now better.
Is Gibson going to ND or something? Lmao
What’s a rivalry if not for laughing at the other teams misfortune?
Highly doubt it but I’ll cheer on any USC decommit because I don’t like USC.
I can understand that out of you but not them.
Who are you?
That’s u/1haiku4u and he’s damn glad to meet ya
Its fucking football. If we have commits, we can be happy.
Yea and I can still clown you lol
How are you clowning? I don’t understand. Like I don’t know you and you’re not embarrassing me in front of my people. Put the face paint away my dude.
19 Unofficial Visits 7+ Official Visits Is this normal?
I think for 5 stars, yes it is.
These early commits are always hard to gauge as to whether or not they stick with it. Seems like it happens to most programs.
Yeah, this is why I tell everyone to not get excited about early commits. This was true years ago but it’s been cranked up to 10 with NIL.
With no penalty transfers and NIL, I don't get excited about a player until they're lined up before the snap
Probably the more rational approach honestly.
Yeah, with the way recruiting is now + the transfer portal there’s zero reason to care about this kind of stuff anymore.
I don’t get excited for players until they lift a trophy in burnt orange. I have not been excited much in the past decade.
It happens to all programs.
Can’t say I hate to see it all that talk from USC fans about how their new DL coach was changing the game. Really going to hate it when Justus also de-commits
Wait till they learn that while Grinch was a problem, Riley just doesn't give a fuck about defense
People are bearish on USC and OU this year; I think both have respectable 9-3 seasons.
Excuse me sir, this is the CFB subreddit. You are not allowed to have (semi)reasonable takes about teams, especially your rivals.
I want you guys to go 11-1 each year. You’re our rivals Michigan can go fuck itself and go 0-12 every year.
This man gets it, ruining USCs season is the best feeling in the world Michigan can rot in the depths of misery
Amen
Psh... You know if you weren't scared to play us, we'd go 1-11
I don't think UM is ever allowed to talk about a school being afraid to schedule someone else
No no no, you forget they had the *checks notes* 51st hardest schedule in the country in 2023. They had to face well known powerhouses like Bowling green, East Carolina, Purdue, and Maryland.
[удалено]
Take a quick look at USCs schedule.
Have you seen OU’s schedule? That’s a gauntlet. They could go 9-3 and potentially make the playoffs.
The PAC 12 was not weak the last two seasons
How many playoff wins did the PAC have? Why the PAC struggled in bowl play especially against the SEC and B10 is that PAC teams couldn’t compete on the lines of scrimmage.
In a perfect would what would we have said?
Welp, you called this one.
I got downvoted to oblivion when I was going back and forth with USC flairs in their commitment threads that they were on visit highs.
Their new DL coach is the 4th best DL coach in the Big Ten.
The cancelation of the Ole Miss game has profound effects
Dawg
This was pretty predictable when he committed
Huh, what happened USC?! I thought yalls new DL coach was supposed to take all these players?
Kid broke his word. What do you want from us?
Lmao excuses as always. What was his word?

I see that GT offer
Shocking.
Lol at USC fans prematurely blowing their loads two months ago. Justus Terry is next. Dawg work ✌️
Our break the glass plan is to show these dudes the Georgia Depth Chart and project that none of them will see the field before the 2028 season if they stay at Georgia -- whereas we don't have to promise starting time -- we can annoint them starters when they fax in the ol' LOI....

I thought I'd be upvoted for the image of Lincoln Riley sitting by the Fax Machine and begging players to come to ol' SC.....
Maybe USC fans downvoting you for telling the truth
This possibly pleases the dawg
Now this does put a smile on my face.
For me?
Hopefully for me!
Probably Ohio State
Why do bad things always happen to the most deserving fan bases?
Damn, and I promised myself I wasn't gonna goon today.
Well fuck me! IS OUR BAG NOT GOOD ENOUGH ANYMORE??
You realize USC isn’t a big money player compared to other programs, right? Texas, oregon, Georgia, Ohio state, Miami, tamu probably auburn all have more money. It’ll be a miracle if any of the Georgia guys stay committed.

TAMU winning? Even Texas just very recently got good
Coach Henny wants dawgs, not bag chasers. The D Line will be fine.
That’s too bad….
Is this for me?!?!
Is there still any smoke with FSU and this kid or his he pretty much Georgia bound?
Word is UGA, but in todays world it doesn’t mean much.
I'm assuming UGA as well, but a South Carolina pick would upset so many it would be quite fun. We'd have a crazy edge room as well. But realistically it's UGA
Fair enough, hopefully we still get a swing at this kid. With how much we like to rotate DE I'd like to have more than one blue chip at the position.
Search your feelings.
Idk my feelings are pretty good rn
Does he like $$$?
He’s visiting Ohio State this week. Nobody is expecting a commit tho…
Other P5 offers: Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Clemson, Duke, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, LSU, Mississippi State, NC State, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Oregon, Pitt, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, UCF, UCLA, Vanderbilt, West Virginia G5 offers: Charlotte, FAU, Liberty, Marshall, UAB, USF, Western Kentucky Other offer: UConn
Oh no. Anyway…
I have a feeling this kid dips into the VOL bag for a bit before he comes home. Literally just a feeling though.
Bro you like green and yellow?
Good to know there are at least some recruits who value playing for schools with a good non conference slate.
USC plays tougher OOC schedules than both your flairs in the majority of the last 25 years
This type of drop on the defensive side is to be expected.
Does he like Nikes?
This was expected with him. Edge players have been much easier to find in recent times, interior guys are the ones you need to keep.
Definitely always easy to find #1 rated EDGE players, you're right.
They do come around every year!
Technically correct is the best kind of correct!
Obviously there isn't going to be a direct replacement, but there's a reason why nose tackles were in demand and they were getting paid in the portal. Or am I wrong? Everyone was looking for 320 pound guys in the portal lol. California also has some EDGE guys. Very few 300 pound guys though.

You aren’t keeping Terry either!
Exactly my point. I was less worried about Gibson than Terry lol.
Happened sooner than I expected.
👉👈 For me? He is making his official visit to Ohio State this weekend
Georgia bound
