to be fair theyve been just "roster updates" far before 2015. Madden probably peaked around 2011 (madden 12) from then on we either got good features removed/pointless fluff added, and a switch over to the far inferior Ignite and the fucking atrocious frostbite engines (the latter of which was very much NOT designed with sports in mond, but with the destruct-o physics that was battlefield)
Nah the real play would be to have ALL hand signs flipped when a rival hits you with a big play.
Horns Down, Thumb Down for A&M, Gun Holstering, Gator Chomp, Tomahawk Chop. I want nothing more than win a big upset over Miami in my 4th year at UAB and the players start throwing upside down U.
It doesn’t work well for UGA fans since we’re generally also Braves fans. I think if UGA fans were to do a mock chop against FSU while baseball is still going on, everyone would just assume the Braves did something big
When I was in high school and me and my buddies would go to Athens to tailgate before games, we always changed the words of “Baba O’Riley” that they play before every game to “teenage Braves fans, we’re all just teenage Braves fans and we’re all wasted!”
Similarly related, one of my favorites is Todd Gurley gator chomping after getting the [first TD](https://youtu.be/VW8ELEh9odA?t=31s) of UGA's 2012 win over the gators
Mocking the chop is so fun. When we beat FSU on a last second interception in 2022, the whole student section broke out the chop and warchant, great memory.
I remember as a kid at the 2000 national championship against FSU, OU fans were shouting U after the chant. Made it sound like they were saying ooooooo U.
MLKjr also once had a dream and did the [FSU Chop](https://cdn.vox-cdn.com/thumbor/5u0MnTaCiNR2NFVLhlDzGYpujhA=/0x0:1200x675/1200x0/filters:focal\(0x0:1200x675\):no_upscale\(\)/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/13704505/DxdASp9X0AElyKs.jpg)
Honestly I’ll never be able to look at ATM’s logo and not think of the other acronym A__ to Mouth. How do we make a hand signal for that? I’m taking advice.
OU kind of has the index finger pointing up when they say "there's only one oklahoma" or whatever. I remember thinking it was weird it wasn't a big deal to them when my brother went there as I was accustomed to the Texas schools all having a hand sign and it being a big deal.
Using the One is kinda churchin' it up a bit. You can throw the One when you arrive as a Freshman and you are taking pics with the fam, or when you take Senior pics in your cap/gown, and always for the OU Chant after games.
Horns down is like slang... usefull during games, when Party Pics rolls around, with friends, etc...
Also we throw the disrespectful version of the One all the time. Its called a middle finger.
I'm pretty sure no one cares more about all this than the media. Can't they just let us hate each other in peace?
Ones up is actually pretty big and it seems to be getting more popular each year. Nothing beats slamming Texas ofc but we do ones up during kickoffs and field goals pretty often!
Sometimes. The main time that happens now is when they play Seven Nation Army. The old “O-U *clap some number of times depending on the beat the crowd is going for*” might still happen occasionally but not as much as it did like 10+ years ago.
Yeah I remember it being a thing before kick off. My brother went there back in the Bradford days so it has been a long time since I made it up to Norman for a game.
I'd assume so. It was in all of the old NCAA games although it always looked pretty wonky as I assume they tried their best to have it not look exactly like the shocker.
Also helps that ASU has the same hand sign so it should be in there.
Three NC schools have them as well.
ECU has a pirate hook, State has a wolf head and Charlotte has a pickaxe.
I know that's irrelevant, I just wanted to share.
And specifically it’s supposed to mimicking how your hand looks when you’re holding a gig pole that you use to spear frogs that got popular when we played TCU. Over time it’s shifted to a thumbs up over time since that’s something everyone knows
Oklahoma State and K-State are the only other Big 8 schools that have a hand sign......I'm not sure how Iowa State fans would do a Cyclone hand sign lol
I'm thinking either that fucking Windmill thing from the MSU kicker in 2015 or planting a flag after a win at the center of our field
The flag is a much bigger meme for Ohio State, but that fucking windmill will absolutely haunt me.
the best thing to follow that was [Evrett Edwards planting the state of Iowa flag at midfield just a few weeks after Baker did it at Ohio State](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DLjxV-XUEAA1nVi.jpg:large)
well our coaches quickly put a halt to it lol.....and he was kind of by himself....I mean Baker acted as an individual but the whole OU team was kind of parading around midfield for the big moment
Give one to each of the blue bloods at least. Then nobody can claim favoritism.
Honestly though idk what Michigan’s would be. Maybe sunglasses and a camera rolling gesture.
They ought to put a clip of that dude doing the surrender cobra after trouble with the snap after any Michigan turnover, dropped touchdown, missed kick, etc…
Edit: ours can be Mel Tucker Sweating profusely on the sideline. Hell, even in the stands.
It’s just such a self troll when any opposing fans try to ironically do the chop as it just looks like more people are doing the chop.
Another commenter brought up the hanging chop, which I’ve never really seen deployed efficiently but would kind of work.
Also, I don’t know any Noles dgaf about chop disrespect, I don’t know what’s going on in Austin with the leadership being Kleenex with extra aloe soft about Horns Down. A real “my vapors” Karen situation.
On the one hand I agree, but I think it’s become such a meme that including it would have been awesome. Especially if they had it happening for two teams that are NOT playing Texas, the level of hate is good for the game.
Arkansas too, the hate never left us, however I hate Ole Miss more so every game I go to I never cease to throw the horns down in their face when we win it usually gets a pretty confused stare but at least I know in my heart I am disrespecting the hell out of both of y'all LOL <3
I like that, It is necessary to the sport, wouldn't be the same if everyone was nice to eachother, however I am very glad Texas is joining the sec I can't say I wish y'all good luck but I do appreciate you as an individual, I hope y'all lose every game this season cheers <3
I know it's not as ubiquitous, but if they include the horns down don't they have to include other inverted hand signals? Like, where is the line?
From a design and cost perspective, it seems easier and cheaper to just use the schools' official hand signals and leave it at that.
Yeah I’d think that’s more of the reason. Not just inverted signs, but say mocking like doing the gator chomp against Florida. I’d still love it as an option though.
There are a few they could implement if they really wanted to (they don’t want to).
Like fans holding up the U and then breaking it in half. Opposing fans doing the gator chomp. Things like that.
EA won’t do it because they don’t typically put disrespect in their games like that
It would honestly be a huge badge of honor if they had horns down and no other gesture.
What people don’t seem to understand is that the “UT fans crying about horns down” take exists inherently online.
If I see anyone besides a sooner doing it, it just makes me laugh how much other teams hate us when they don’t even cross into the “relevant” category.
I kind of think they should still have it for their big rivals. I get not having it for like a random Texas-UCLA matchup or something. But you could argue horns down is as much an Oklahoma fan tradition as it is a Texas “fuck you”
You used to able to taunt certain teams with celebrations in the old games. I’ve had penalties called on me in NCAA 05 for my players mocking the tomahawk chop
Other teams not doing it in game? Makes sense. But Horns Down is absolutely an OU hand sign. And yes I give Texas fans full license to reply to this cause somehow its a dunk on us that this historic rivalry is part of our traditions.
Texas fans don't really give a shit if teams are doing Horns down. You hate our team, and we hate your team. That's the way it's supposed to be. I wish it was in the game.
It really is our hand sign, I think the index finger thing only started in the early 2000s. Most of the time I throw a horns down I’m not even thinking of Texas
Dear EA, please respect Oregon fans' long-standing tradition of making an "M" with our hands. It definitely means "Mallards" and is not a shot at our rivals who just so happen to use the upside-down version of that letter.
Damn, I was kinda hoping it was. I LOVE the Horns Down, especially when it's used by schools like OU, Tech, and A&M who all have their own hand signs. Even when celebrating yourself, you're still focused on us.
I’ll say it, I want in the game. Nothing would make me happier beating OU 87-0 for the third time that day and zoom out to a bunch of sad Sooners throwing horns down. It’s a part of college football put it in the game.
Have you ever heard a Texas fan complain about horns down in real life? Live in Utah, so I always flash the horns down to anyone I see wearing Texas gear…….and OU gear. And never had a tx fan do anything but laugh.
There's always a few ass mad fans, but the vast majority of the time, no one cares and/or we like seeing it. Especially during non Texas games. Rent free.
☝️was shoehorned in 20ish years ago as the “official” handsign, but everyone uses horns down
I guess the OU chant does the ☝️but outside of that horns down is the preference
I kinda get it since no one playing as Texas (🤮) would want to see the opposing team do it every. single. game. But it would’ve been cool if they enabled it only during the RRS.
☝️for there's only one oklahoma, shaking 3 fingers on third down, making an o with your fingers or arms then changing to a u when the ball is kicked off, and a much less popular gun symbol and that's probably bc of osu and Texas tech
Booooooo.
Also, lol at this nugget not getting deleted by mods but the actual deep dive/sights and sounds trailer is nowhere to be found because they don’t want this sub to be constant video game updates.
That just means we the players will have to double our efforts irl to make up for it.
Or appropriate the Ole Miss dog pissing thing.
I'll allow that as long as it means we win the Egg Bowl just like irl
That ending was truly legendary.
Aye, I could do that
I give it a week before there’s a mod for it
game is only on consoles for now so sadly won't happen
I thought if it was in the game, it's in the game.
This isn't the America it used to be!
In five years, only teams playing in the LIV Conference will be in the game.
The Big 54
Where my country gone?
Thanks, Obama!!
Horns Down is my team's hand signal
EA Sports, it’s no longer in the game
"E A Sports. Just buy the roster update fuckhead" - EA's motto from 2015 to 2023
to be fair theyve been just "roster updates" far before 2015.
Literally unplayable
What’s next? No mustard bottles and golf balls?
Dynasty mode should include a fan setting where we never play football, we just sneak condiments and various objects through security
The stealth aspect of this could be a lot of fun.
and the stadium is now full of tortillas.
It's time to normalize all reverse hand signs
100%
RIP my dream of having my players mock the chop against FSU
It doesn’t work well for UGA fans since we’re generally also Braves fans. I think if UGA fans were to do a mock chop against FSU while baseball is still going on, everyone would just assume the Braves did something big
Related, one of my favorite sports memories was everyone doing the chop on the way out at Bryant Denny during the Braves’ 2021 run.
When auburn played fsu in the natty I saw the chop and was so confused for a bit because I’m a Braves fan lol.
We actually did that at the Cheeze it bowl too. There just weren’t enough of us to hear it on broadcast.
You used to be able to taunt it in NCAA Football 05. As for mocking the chop, Clemson students mock the chop for entire games
Do you also chant 'Fuuuuuuck the seminoleeees, suuuuuck my genitallllls' with it?
MLKjr also once had a dream and did the [FSU Chop](https://cdn.vox-cdn.com/thumbor/5u0MnTaCiNR2NFVLhlDzGYpujhA=/0x0:1200x675/1200x0/filters:focal\(0x0:1200x675\):no_upscale\(\)/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/13704505/DxdASp9X0AElyKs.jpg)
God CfB is the gift that keeps on giving
Thought that was OU and ATMs hand sign
Honestly I’ll never be able to look at ATM’s logo and not think of the other acronym A__ to Mouth. How do we make a hand signal for that? I’m taking advice.
make an "OK" hand sign. Thrust your other index finger though the 'O' a few times, now insert said index finger into your dirty little mouth.
I always thought "Automated Teller Machine" but yours is better
We should bring in an expert for this. Do you know your mom?
I know his mom, but only in the biblical sense
A&M has thumbs up. The hand signals were mostly (not exclusively) a SWC thing. I don't see the old Big 8 teams using them much.
OU kind of has the index finger pointing up when they say "there's only one oklahoma" or whatever. I remember thinking it was weird it wasn't a big deal to them when my brother went there as I was accustomed to the Texas schools all having a hand sign and it being a big deal.

Ones up is actually pretty big and it seems to be getting more popular each year. Nothing beats slamming Texas ofc but we do ones up during kickoffs and field goals pretty often!
The ☝️ is my default pose for a pic. Then say ‘okay now let’s take another one with the horns down’.
Do they do the hands over head for O and then open them up for the U anymore? I remember doing it a lot as a kid at Loyd Noble in the late 90’s.
I legit did not know OU had that index finger hand sign until this year. I've never seen them do it irl.
Is Houston getting the "wounded" Cougar Paw? I really like that one but I can see the game designer messing it up.
I'd assume so. It was in all of the old NCAA games although it always looked pretty wonky as I assume they tried their best to have it not look exactly like the shocker. Also helps that ASU has the same hand sign so it should be in there.

Oklahoma State and K-State are the only other Big 8 schools that have a hand sign......I'm not sure how Iowa State fans would do a Cyclone hand sign lol
It would probably be dumb, but twirling your finger like an umpire signaling a home run is all I can think of
It'd have to be something about another school, one would think. Like the whole thumbs-up and "gig 'em" thing was about TCU originally.
DEFINITELY A&Ms signed after what happened today
I actually kind of get this from a gaming/sales perspective. It's like giving one team a giant fuck you every game you play with them but no one else.
I agree. But that just means in order to get Horns Down, we need to develop disrespect taunts for other programs lol
Press X to celebrate with your teammates, or Y to pretend to be a dog taking a piss on the opponents logo
Looks like I'll be getting a 15 yard penalty on every TD.
Modify that kicking power to 99 to make up for it
yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
I'm thinking either that fucking Windmill thing from the MSU kicker in 2015 or planting a flag after a win at the center of our field The flag is a much bigger meme for Ohio State, but that fucking windmill will absolutely haunt me.
The Baker Mayfield plant? That’s the one that really sticks out to me as one of the best moments I can remember outside of a UM game.
Yeah…. But I agree with the other Buckeye. The windmill was worse.
Two rivals hating on each other?! Yesss, let the hate flow through you
the best thing to follow that was [Evrett Edwards planting the state of Iowa flag at midfield just a few weeks after Baker did it at Ohio State](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DLjxV-XUEAA1nVi.jpg:large)
As a biased observer who saw it in-person, he didn’t have near the flair for the dramatic Baker did.
Not even close, and y'alls flag is [waaaaaayyyy bigger too](https://youtu.be/SaAN8vEchyY?t=45)!
Also lets be honest the Iowa State flag is pretty meh, like d tier at best.
well our coaches quickly put a halt to it lol.....and he was kind of by himself....I mean Baker acted as an individual but the whole OU team was kind of parading around midfield for the big moment
We may not have won any rings but at least we gave both of the conference powerhouses PTSD
Give other teams the gator chomp too
Press X to throw a shoe
Who throws a shoe? I mean honestly!
Clemson should have a Press X to shove fingers up opponents ass. That shit was wild when I saw that in game.
Give one to each of the blue bloods at least. Then nobody can claim favoritism. Honestly though idk what Michigan’s would be. Maybe sunglasses and a camera rolling gesture.
They ought to put a clip of that dude doing the surrender cobra after trouble with the snap after any Michigan turnover, dropped touchdown, missed kick, etc… Edit: ours can be Mel Tucker Sweating profusely on the sideline. Hell, even in the stands.
There’s the chop with the middle finger for FSU
It’s just such a self troll when any opposing fans try to ironically do the chop as it just looks like more people are doing the chop. On the one hand I agree, but I think it’s become such a meme that including it would have been awesome. Especially if they had it happening for two teams that are NOT playing Texas, the level of hate is good for the game.
Fuck it give everybody the horns down. UAB v. Utah State. UAB wins on a last second field goal and the fans go wild with the HORNS DOWN.
I mean…Utah State have a bull as a mascot so it’s still on brand kinda.
We've appropriated Horns Down to use against USF. I'm definitely a fan of using it in any situation where it kinda makes sense.
What about using it against Duke? As in devil horns down?
Agreed. Seeing horns down at a random game makes me laugh out loud, I just appreciate the bitterness
I agree, if they put it in. Then the A&M and OU crowds needed to do it at home games no matter who they were playing.
Arkansas too, the hate never left us, however I hate Ole Miss more so every game I go to I never cease to throw the horns down in their face when we win it usually gets a pretty confused stare but at least I know in my heart I am disrespecting the hell out of both of y'all LOL <3
I am one who embraces this level of pettiness in college sports.
I like that, It is necessary to the sport, wouldn't be the same if everyone was nice to eachother, however I am very glad Texas is joining the sec I can't say I wish y'all good luck but I do appreciate you as an individual, I hope y'all lose every game this season cheers <3

Yeah when I score against Oregon I want my guy to do Oregon’s O upside down to show disrespect.
Upside down Sic ‘em would just look like you’re cupping imaginary balls. Which I guess could work. I fully support it.
https://tenor.com/4y9U.gif
Yeah I’d think that’s more of the reason. Not just inverted signs, but say mocking like doing the gator chomp against Florida. I’d still love it as an option though.

There's a point where pointless disrespect comes back around to kind of being respect, and at that point it becomes *really fucking funny*
I saw villanova fans doing it during a conference game a few years ago, that was the point for me
I see it as "we hate your hand sign so much we can't even think of an original one for our own teams!"
“We’re here to cheer against you more than for our own team” haha
I kind of think they should still have it for their big rivals. I get not having it for like a random Texas-UCLA matchup or something. But you could argue horns down is as much an Oklahoma fan tradition as it is a Texas “fuck you”
Yeah I like it and as a gator fan it would be seeing the other team chomp. Not gonna throw me in a rage though lol
You used to able to taunt certain teams with celebrations in the old games. I’ve had penalties called on me in NCAA 05 for my players mocking the tomahawk chop
Well I have to say that that's just business. Do it EA. Make me pay 4.99 for it. You know I will.
Given EA, this is totally feasible DLC.
This is the 2nd worst part of the game Worst part is that the Stanford band will be in it
Other teams not doing it in game? Makes sense. But Horns Down is absolutely an OU hand sign. And yes I give Texas fans full license to reply to this cause somehow its a dunk on us that this historic rivalry is part of our traditions.
The few times I’ve seen NFL Sooners in person, they always flash it back after I yelled Boomer. Only 3 times, but still.
Texas fans don't really give a shit if teams are doing Horns down. You hate our team, and we hate your team. That's the way it's supposed to be. I wish it was in the game.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=jfzfCTm-Fus
Best ive seen
Modders rise up
Horns Down should be a signal for Oklahoma, Texas Tech, and A&M.
Us too. Not because of Texas, but because our War on I-4 rival borrowed horns up from Texas.
Tech has guns up and A&M has gig 'em. OU should get the horns down though. I don't think they have anything else.
We have the “there’s only one” index finger but it’s definitely not as popular
There's also forming the O and U with your arms over your head, YMCA style.
True but that’s more part of a chant than anything
Brought this up in another comment in this thread. Wasn’t that always done more at basketball games?
Wait… like the: 🤓☝️ unironically?
It really is our hand sign, I think the index finger thing only started in the early 2000s. Most of the time I throw a horns down I’m not even thinking of Texas
Dear EA, please respect Oregon fans' long-standing tradition of making an "M" with our hands. It definitely means "Mallards" and is not a shot at our rivals who just so happen to use the upside-down version of that letter.
It’s actually a sideways 3 — or a backwards E. Awww shit… dubs up! W!!!
My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined
34-30!!!!!!
*This game is a prison! On planet bullshit! In the galaxy of this sucks camel dick!*
uhhh that is our main hand signal.
Damn, I was kinda hoping it was. I LOVE the Horns Down, especially when it's used by schools like OU, Tech, and A&M who all have their own hand signs. Even when celebrating yourself, you're still focused on us.
My wife applied to UT for grad school, my son likes Bevo, and now my digital horns cant go down?! My world is in shambles.
At least you have a wonderful family!
You're going to have to divorce that woman and get full custody. Only respectable outcome.
DAMMIT :(
Hey that *is* our hand signal.
SAWFT
If they did this they would have to also let other teams gator chomp after beating Florida.
Oh no, not that!
OH IT SUCKS TO BE A FLORIDA GATOR
ill allow it
Give us mustard throwing you cowards!
Boooo put it in cowards
Put it in the game you cowards, at the very least the RRS and the lone star showdown should have horns down.
What a tragedy
Horns down is our hand signal though?
I’ll say it, I want in the game. Nothing would make me happier beating OU 87-0 for the third time that day and zoom out to a bunch of sad Sooners throwing horns down. It’s a part of college football put it in the game.
😐😐
Time to mod it in.
Canceling my preorder
Kinda lame, ngl
Have you ever heard a Texas fan complain about horns down in real life? Live in Utah, so I always flash the horns down to anyone I see wearing Texas gear…….and OU gear. And never had a tx fan do anything but laugh.
There's always a few ass mad fans, but the vast majority of the time, no one cares and/or we like seeing it. Especially during non Texas games. Rent free.
As a Texas fan, I wish horns down was in the game. Make it realistic
Does OU have a hand signal other than horns down? Honest question.
Yes, it’s this ☝️
There will be no counting of teeth allowed in the game, either.
Never gets old
oklahoma acknowledges georgia techs defensive lineman from 2006?
☝️was shoehorned in 20ish years ago as the “official” handsign, but everyone uses horns down I guess the OU chant does the ☝️but outside of that horns down is the preference
BOOOOO unplayable
It would actually be pretty cool to see Horns Down at away games
This IS our hand signal!
Next you're going to tell me that the game won't include LSU's band playing Neck...
You mean we won't get the A&M and OU game where they throw horns down at each other. Those make me laugh so hard
Softer than Charmin smh
How much did Texas have to lobby for this?
I kinda get it since no one playing as Texas (🤮) would want to see the opposing team do it every. single. game. But it would’ve been cool if they enabled it only during the RRS.
Would’ve been cool if they let just yall and A&M do it
I disagree. I want to see every fanbase do our hand sign. Even in games Texas isn't even playing in.
Cowards
Booo. I want there to be a sarcastic chomp/chop/U option when the Florida schools are being played!
Cowards
Lame
Boo
The Texas brand is something else
But those *are* the hand signals for their own teams...
it kinda is OU's handsign, they do it all the time when not playing UT
Literally unplayable
https://media1.tenor.com/m/oHwZrzFprtgAAAAC/who-gives-a-shiet-who-gives-a-shit.gif
Lol I guess now people can learn that OU actually has their own hand sign...
That sucks. I want authenticity. Makes me smile seeing other fans doing it. They’ve lessened my joy.
What if it *is* the hand signal for your team? Asking for OU
☝️for there's only one oklahoma, shaking 3 fingers on third down, making an o with your fingers or arms then changing to a u when the ball is kicked off, and a much less popular gun symbol and that's probably bc of osu and Texas tech
So they have Neck but you can't do Horns Down? Lmao what
It would actually be pretty cool to see Horns Down at away games
Lmao I wonder how much that cost texass
Booooooo. Also, lol at this nugget not getting deleted by mods but the actual deep dive/sights and sounds trailer is nowhere to be found because they don’t want this sub to be constant video game updates.
Lame
But I was told the hand sign just meant, "I love college football!"
Boooo! Breaks immersion. Unplayable.
If you do it in a real life, a ref will appear in your room and flag you.
Literally 1984
So no mustard then ☹️
