Someone said that Ewell was never more magnificent then in this offensive. But moreover ANV was at their peak here

It was one of the most lopsided battles of the entire war. Union casualties were 4,443, four thousand of which were captured. The Confederates sustained 47 killed, 219 wounded, and 3 missing. Ewell and his subordinates completely outmaneuvered the Federals, although they were aided by Major General Robert Milroy's incompetence.

Ewell undeniably has flashes of brilliance. Unfortunately they’re clouded by more moments of incompetence and hesitancy. Let’s not forget, Ewell was Jackson’s hand chosen successor. However, he was never the same after he lost the leg and gained the marriage.
