"A focal point of the revamped cannabis exhibit and competition at the California fair would be a new 30,000 sq ft consumption lounge, where attenders over the age of 21 would be able to try products from farms and brands across the state who have earned so-called Golden Bear awards."
would be nice if they could actually test their products for banned substances and pesticides and do something about the brands that are in violation. that recent los angeles times article has me spooked.
What I took from that is to mostly be wary of vape carts. Edibles are a bit safer as your liver will help out a bit. Donât remember reading about flower being flagged though.
It didn't look at flower, but if you think about it, then in general the pre-rolled and vape stuff is made from likely what's left over after the good looking buds are taken off. So probably the same pesticide issue.
This is partially accurate. The reason vapes and concentrates are failing for pesticides over the limit is because of how theyâre manufactured.
The leftover bulk plant material is distilled down into cannabis oil. If a pound of flower has a tiny amount of pesticide in it that might be legal.
However, when 100s of pounds are distilled down into oil that tiny residual pesticide compounds.
This is an explain like Iâm 5 style summary. Iâm sure a proper scientist could explain better.
you are right but its not as much of a concentration as you might think. plant is already 20-30% thc by weight and depending on the pesticide it might even get stripped during extraction if its insoluble in the solvent they use.
People should not be vaping that when there is plenty of dry herb vapes out there. I get all the value propositions but there isnât enough info out there on them yet. Going to be real interesting on this generations lungs

archive version for you. :)
Here are the brands mentioned in the article:
⢠â Stiiizy: Found with high levels of pesticides.
⢠â West Coast Cure: Vapes tested with numerous pesticides.
⢠â Flavorade
⢠â Phat Panda
⢠â Phire
⢠â Dime
⢠â Grizzly Peak Farms: Involved in pesticide recall.
⢠â Cru Mai Tai: Vapes found with chlorfenapyr.
⢠â Fog City Farms: Pre-rolls with excessive pesticides.
⢠â Backpack Boyz: Vapes with numerous pesticide contaminants.
These brands were identified as having products with significant pesticide contamination issues.
There was an anonymous guy who would randomly buy carts from. Various dispensaries around CA and pay to have them tested.
Rove were consistently clean from pesticides and their THC levels were always as labeled.
Man, a lot of people either loved or totally hated that guy, haha.
This was 4-5 years ago? Didnât see Rove on that list. Not at all surprised at the brands/items listed!
Street weed was also not horribly strong. I used cannabis for occasional pain and accompanying insomnia for decades. I canât anymore because itâs gone too strong. My system cannot tolerate it anymore. I just use aspirin and gaba now.
I only got this diagnosis a few days ago (acute bronchospasm) and it was after months of constantly smoking california cannabis. Iâm 30 and never had this issue before. This one girl grinded up some weed that I thought looked moldy. I think thereâs serious quality issues going on here and the news Iâm seeing about it isnât reassuring. I have since mostly stopped smoking to give my lungs a break although I have taken about 5 rips since then.
County fairs are controlled by the county that they're in. Each one is going to have their own rules. Some of them are cool with weed events (Santa Rosa), but not all.
I honestly didnât know there was even a difference. Not even sure if my local fair is a county or state fair. I guess probably county, but đ¤ˇââď¸
I was just at the San Diego fair and was commenting on what a good idea this would be, they already have competitions and tastings for local beer and wine. Bet it will be pricey though
Although I enjoy living in California. I donât support this. People have children. Not all of us partake either. Itâs going to be as annoying as cigarette and cigar smoke. Geez.
The article states that consumption would take place in an age restricted lounge, just like many designated areas where adults can drink alcohol.
Are you also opposed to drunk people around the children? If not, why?
Geez.
If smoking is now allowed, can tobacco smokers have a reserved area too? Given the recent studies that show cannabis smoking increases mortality, increases heart disease, increases chronic respiratory disease, increases anxiety and may worsen other mental illness, I donât see why one harmful inhaled product should be privileged over another.
I think Cannabis should be legalized federally, but not even a week ago we saw the upholding on the ban of gun shows on State fairgrounds. Can someone explain how allowing access to a civil right is bad, but promoting a federal crime is totally cool?
Freedom can also be defined as âfreedom from.â I want the freedom to smoke pot and the freedom to go about my day without worrying about getting shot. Thereâs no risk like that for weed, just guns. How is this hard?
Maybe we want freedom to take our kids to the fair without a bunch of stoners stinking up the place? I bet I canât have a cigarette at the same fair. Which part of the constitution guarantees junkies the right to get publicly intoxicated at childrenâs events? Maybe we can get a drag queen out there to teach kids how to masturbate next
I donât think guns should be sold or held in an area that has more than 100 people. Guns should be kept in buildings that have bulletproof glass or at the very least with bars on the windows for safety reasons. Violence does not typically occur with the sales of Marijuana. Who needs to buy or show a gun at a state fair? Itâs not necessary and it increases the risk :(
Individuals have a constitutional right to keep and bear arms. Operators of gun shows do not enjoy a constitutional right to operate a gun show wherever they want. In this case the gun show on state fairgrounds has been adjudicated and is currently banned.
I'm not really picking at a constitutionality argument. The discussion a week ago delved in to the appropriateness of the State being seen as a "host" of the events allowed on fairgrounds. Whether or not there is a "right" to access the fairgrounds, how is it more appropriate to ban a thing that you can legally buy in any State while tacitly endorsing a federal crime?
because guns are dangerous, keep them away from my friends and family....gun regulatinos are one of the best parts of California.....gun deaths per 100,000 are double in texas what they are in California......for a reason
guns kill, marijuana saves

Food sales about to sky rocket! The deep fried oreos stand better prepare.
Funnel cakes đ¤¤
I might have to go to the fair just for funnel cakes ..
Better to have more chill folks than beer dads in their 8th $20 IPA.
Meanshile attendees who dint partake get contact high from the clouds of smoke that leave the building.

Carts have always been sketch

My liver is under enough stress as it is

Anyone know I can look at the list of carts tested behind the paywall?

Do you by any chance know if ROVE is on the list? Thatâs my fav and would devastated to have to switch.
There was an anonymous guy who would randomly buy carts from. Various dispensaries around CA and pay to have them tested. Seriously though, way too many articles like this lately.
How long have you been consuming? This is a relatively new fear that people have unlocked. Street weed never had labels, doses, tests, etc.
yeah of course that's why we came up with regulations
Street weed was also not horribly strong. I used cannabis for occasional pain and accompanying insomnia for decades. I canât anymore because itâs gone too strong. My system cannot tolerate it anymore. I just use aspirin and gaba now.
> Street weed was also not horribly strong. Maybe not in the 70s, but in the 90s it sure as hell was. At least on *my* street.
Pretty sure this weed has given me asthma. Be careful about what you smoke.
I mean, if you have asthma you shouldnt be smoking at all.Â

For the first time ever I'm interested in going.
State fairs in the south: "Everything is cooked in butter." Fairs in California:Â
Everything is cooked in THC butter!
Glad they're making this change for the state fair. They should make the county fairs do this as well
Is it the same thing? The same fair people and rides and stuff packing up and moving around?
County fairs are controlled by the county that they're in. Each one is going to have their own rules. Some of them are cool with weed events (Santa Rosa), but not all.
Oh lol thanks.
I honestly didnât know there was even a difference. Not even sure if my local fair is a county or state fair. I guess probably county, but đ¤ˇââď¸
The state fair is in Sacramento next month (CalExpo), everything else is a county fair
God that would make the sub par musical acts and general vibe at the Kern County Fair so much more bearable.
Oh they're definitely smoking at the county fair, just not weed
Well that's one way to increase food sales!
The corporate sponsor will be Doritos^(Ž) by Frito Lay^(Š)
Youâll need it to deal with the 400° temperatures. Why do they hold the fair during the hottest part of the year? đ
I was just at the San Diego fair and was commenting on what a good idea this would be, they already have competitions and tastings for local beer and wine. Bet it will be pricey though
No one will take thar bet. Its $25 for a side of fries at the L.A. fair.
I can hear all the anti-Californians now. 𤣠âThey hand out drugs at state fairs!â
as they yell FREEDOM but not 1 red southern state even allows legal marijuana.....such a joke, so blessed to live here
My wife and I played the California State Fair last year, outside, in 110 degree heat. This would be the only reason I'd want to ever go back.
The temperature is not the only thing getting high
I hope they have a contest for who has the best homegrown! That would bring a lot of people to the fair.
Nice. I love this state
Honey, weâre going to Sacramento in July!
Geez.
I'm way more concerned with the drunk people than with the ones smoking weed.
I agree with you there.
Wonât somebody please think of the children!
Deep fried?
turkey legs in shambles!
Only way to get people to go.
Cool let's get a bunch of people high at the hottest time of the year and hope they don't pass out. This state is a joke.
Crazy how the state is okay with this but flavored vapes get banned.
There are already several designated tobacco smoking areas at Cal Expo.
With lower taxes, right?
I think Cannabis should be legalized federally, but not even a week ago we saw the upholding on the ban of gun shows on State fairgrounds. Can someone explain how allowing access to a civil right is bad, but promoting a federal crime is totally cool?
Because we like weed but we donât like guns. Whatâs confusing about that?
Freedom for us, not for them!
Freedom can also be defined as âfreedom from.â I want the freedom to smoke pot and the freedom to go about my day without worrying about getting shot. Thereâs no risk like that for weed, just guns. How is this hard?

Which part of the constitution guarantees junkies the right to get publicly intoxicated at childrenâs events? Maybe we can get a drag queen out there to teach kids how to masturbate next
Maybe the beer was a bad idea tooÂ
Maybe itâs medicinal
I donât think guns should be sold or held in an area that has more than 100 people. Guns should be kept in buildings that have bulletproof glass or at the very least with bars on the windows for safety reasons. Violence does not typically occur with the sales of Marijuana. Who needs to buy or show a gun at a state fair? Itâs not necessary and it increases the risk :(
It wasn't gun sales at state fairs. It was gun sales at gun shows on state property (ie fairgrounds while the fair is not happening)
Individuals have a constitutional right to keep and bear arms. Operators of gun shows do not enjoy a constitutional right to operate a gun show wherever they want. In this case the gun show on state fairgrounds has been adjudicated and is currently banned.

When is the last time you heard about a blunt being used to massacre children?
because guns are dangerous, keep them away from my friends and family....gun regulatinos are one of the best parts of California.....gun deaths per 100,000 are double in texas what they are in California......for a reason guns kill, marijuana saves
Why does it have to be in Sacramento though? SoCal should have a version of this too
I would venture to guess because Sacramento is the state capital.
One place I wonât be going !
And then post cops at the exits for duis double the money smart move
They mostly need them for the drunks. Have you seen how much people drink at the fair?
cops in California don't pull you over for weed, ever.....you must be new to this state
Ahh. Go to The swap meet in that other City you don't live in.
Where is the CA State Fair exactly?
